Fantastic third-wave coffee spot. Can't go wrong with anything here. It's definitely a smaller cafe, better for grab and go. Lots of single origin and uniquely sourced options for espresso, pour over, or for bean purchase. A gem!

    Espresso #1 (Arcadia)
    Felix W.

I hot espresso -- tried both options on the menu. Both were light roasts, so not much crema or body, but well-executed and super clear flavors. Espresso #1 (Arcadia): very fruit-forward, berry notes up front, light sweetness after. 4/5. Espresso #2 (Gerald Njagi): more acidic, floral, earthy. 4/5.

Ordered: Flat White (~$5) Aya's take: Villager is a quality coffee shop - point blank. What gives it away is all the high quality coffee beans they're selling and using in their drinks! The Flat White had an excellent velvety texture with smooth espresso flavor and slight sweetness from the steamed milk. Very robust flavor profile that I enjoyed. Why 4 stars? It's so chaotic inside which takes away from the ambiance and the staff could do a better job at structuring the lines so there isn't a mob of people just standing around. Other than that, I totally understand why it's a neighborhood hot spot!

Solid coffee spot, for true coffee lovers! My boyfriend is a big coffee person, so he was very happy to try their pour overs. I got their DONA Chai iced latte, which was also delicious! You can really taste the spices. It's in line with NYC coffee prices. Coffee shop is small with limited seating inside and outside, but most people take their orders to go. There has always been a line when we're there but it moves quickly!

Stopped in here before brunch at Agi's Counter and had an amazing cold brew. They also have lots of seating inside and out, and a bathroom! Will be back.

Trendy coffee shop with a ton of options! They were slammed on both of our visits with seating packed and a small line. The drinks were good and they had a ton of cute pastry options that we didn't get to try.

Third wave coffee with single origin options in a modern space with just the right amount of warm wood and plants to make it welcoming. Service is also great! By the numbers: Drink 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Value 4/5 Espresso - Excellent. I tried both, including the single origin option, and both were exceptional. Single origin was fruitier with tart berry notes.

I don't know what it is but a few coffee places have this burnt rose smell/flavor to the lattes and I really don't like it. This is one of those places. Maybe other people like this but just for me it's not my preference. I like when my lattes have a smoother finish. That being said I wouldn't come back here. It is pretty inside and the donut wasn't bad. A bit dry/dense but the filing was good.

One of the best espresso I've had in NYC. With a great atmosphere. Great selection of coffee beans as well.

Really lovely coffee shop near the park. A little bit of seating and a cute interior but in a great spot to take it for a walk instead. Good drink menu and pastry offerings. My latte was very good and the baristas were very nice (this was refreshing). Line was long on a beautiful Sunday but they handled it like pros and it moved quickly. A great spot for your weekend coffee!

The place was packed when I went in, but I was able to grab a seat. The have a good selection of speciality drinks and beans, but I ended up just getting a flat white. The coffee art was beautiful, and they even brought us our drinks. Coffee flavor was strong, and there was a perfect amount of milk. A much needed caffeine boost for the day. They have ample seating, but the benches against the wall lack tables. I awkwardly placed my drink next to me on the bench/held the cup and plate for half the time. Bathrooms are clean. There wasn't a place to put finished cups, so I ended up putting it back on the counter near staff.

Nice coffee shop. It gets pretty busy so seats get filled up but there is some places to hang with another person.

The permanent markers they use on coffee lids leave a lingering smell that ruins the coffee for me! Started going to Most High instead.

You must have the Brussels sprouts!! I'd go back for those in a minute! I very much enjoyed my salmon dish. Lovely presentation and preparation but portion a bit small. However, the Brussels sprouts were so generous portion that even after sharing there was "take home" for us. The chocolate mousse was extraordinary! I don't even want to know the calorie count - but worth it!! My one negative was the chill of the Cabernet Yes, I know that's the trend but personally I prefer room temp especially in cold weather The restaurant owner was gracious, staff actually charming and accommodating We are recommending this place to family and friends and plan to return especially when going to BAM ENJOY!!

Walked in and was able to get a seat without reservation, but it definitely filled up by 6/7 pm. The place is dimly lit and the tables are quite small. For the food, we got their Brussel sprouts, shrimp, salmon entree and chicken entree. Our favorite were definitely the shrimp. But everything else when eaten together tasted a bit too greasy and felt monotonous in terms of flavor. Brussel sprouts were fried and held to a decent amount of oil, then the addition of tahini made it even more oily. Pan chicken we expected whole pieces of chicken but it was more like a thin chicken cutlet. The salmon came with a cauliflower puree which tasted so rich (with butter), but I couldn't finish it bc it was so rich.

I ordered a single burger and a Sudan spiced peanut butter latte, for ~$15! That's pretty inexpensive for New York City. I note this as some consider it overpriced. I suppose the food is fairly inexpensive, the lattes slightly higher than average. The "burger" comes wrapped in a homemade pita with diced cucumber, onion, and tomato, plus a few crispy, thick-cut fries and a yummy house sauce. It was a cool twist of the traditional burger and had a nice flavor. The sauce was like a slightly Mediterranean version of Big Mac sauce. The girl working as the barista and cashier was very nice and friendly. She had a nice presence and warm smile, made suggestions, and even gave a stranger free utensils when they popped on to ask. I think it's definitely worth checking out, and it's a good place for a cheap & simple meal that's still quirky and fun.

Perhaps I should have anticipated that, or my mistake in ordering. I also ordered a Moroccan egg salad sandwich which was substantive but surprisingly bland--sparse with the advertised capers and pickled red onions to give it more punch. I've always loved the look of the spot and the vibe--funky decor, outside and indoor facing counters to order, with some outdoor seating for people watching on Dekalb or heading nearby Ft. Greene Park. I see they are renovating and rebranding a bit and adding some burger component. While I didn't love it, I'd definitely give it another shot.
