First time here, I live around the corner and just found this place by chance! The inside is really cute some cute things to buy. They even have matcha you can buy if you wanna make it at home. This is our least favorite cafe in the area. We ordered a pastry, cortado, and flat white. The pastry tasted sort of stale, the outside edges were tough and chewy instead of light and fluffy. Both the cortado and flat white didn't taste like they were made correctly. Both were in a larger cup with lots of milk. Two stars because it's a nice environment and our server was friendly. Wish we had a better experience here, but there weren't any positive takeaways from what we ordered. read more

First time visitor here, found it by pure chance. Excellent coffee, fresh and tasty which, believe it or not, can be difficult to find. Small spot, no inside seating but some interesting sites and items for sale within. Morning guy was real friendly which I like for that first cup in the morning. Only thing missing? I came a few weeks ago for a cold brew as I like to support local businesses. I heard about this place on Instagram and I wanted to check it out. The space is tiny but has a great neighborhood-y cozy feeling. The guy behind the counter (maybe the owner) was very nice and the cold brew was good. I often make my own cold brew but when I don't I'll definitely return here. They also have a picnic table outside which is such a great idea because there is no space to sit inside and it encourages conversation. Very nice touch. read more

Only a few weeks old, I've come to really like this small but lovable coffee shop. They have a good variety of coffees, of course, and teas (which I mostly get), that should please most customers. And best for me, the staff is always very nice, especially the owners. And I love that they have simple sugar as a sweetener alternative - not enough places do. The pastries are good too though some are arguably a bit overpriced. Regardless, Brooklyn Kettle is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. read more

The drinks, even the small ones, are large and milky, American style; satisfying if you're seeking for something filling, heavy if you're not. The croissant and cappuccino I've just had will surely carry me to lunch and through. I prefer espresso drinks, like wit, brief. Next time I'll ask for a cortado or macchiato instead. Beans are from La Colombe, which consistently taste over-roasted to me, but that's not the shop's fault. They're like that everywhere, even in their shops. Maybe the amount of milk is meant to temper that. The turkey and cheese croissant was a kind I've never had before. Ham and cheese is the combo, traditionally. I'd guess that this is cater to the local community, in which many people do not eat pork. I didn't miss the ham. Cost considerations: $4 for the cappuccino puts it about 15% higher in price than similar drinks in the neighborhood. $4 for the croissant makes it 12% lower in price than similar croissants in the neighborhood. Brooklyn Kettle is perhaps less a destination than waypoint. The three interior seats accommodate two people comfortably. A picnic table in front of the space could seat 8 people, maybe 6 with laptops. WiFi is free and speedy but since space is limited, this is not a coffice, there is no infrastructure for campers. It is somewhere to go to get something to go. Ceramic cups are not so be seen. Paper only. But that doesn't mean you can't stay here for a bit. Service is not rushed, you are not pushed to order and get out. It's a community spot, like a lot of businesses in Bed-Stuy. Having spent an hour at the picnic table, I've seen people come in for the coffee but stay for the tea. To hear and participate in that discussion, to get to know your neighbors, is worth the visit. read more

Great addition to the neighborhood! Shop itself is super small, but they definitely made the best out of it. The picnic table outside is a nice touch! They only offer one size of iced coffee, and its BIG, so for $3.50 I totally got my money's worth. Definitely on the weaker side of coffee but not burnt or gross tasting. I absolutely love this place it's my first time in Brooklyn and this was the perfect way to start my adventure! My mom got the coffee and said it was absolutely perfect, I got the mocha and it was Devine, and my little sister got the hot chocolate and said it was great! I also love the area it's right across from the place I'm staying this weekend and I'm definitely going there again as soon as possible. Also the man serving us was hilarious and super nice!
