Great place to come and study for a few hours, drink was ok, croissant was tasty, service was fast. I got a good chunk of one of my school assignments done and had a nice interaction with a fellow customer. The chair I sat in by the door made me feel like a supervillain.

Stopped by this cafe today for a quick coffee. I ordered an iced oat milk latte and honestly wasn't that impressed. It tasted sour and didn't compare to coffee I've gotten at other hungry ghost cafes. But hey given the other reviews this may just be a one time thing. One pro is that I did notice they have nitro brew and kombucha on tap! The place is clean and minimalistic, although my latte even for a NYC cafe was a little expensive ($6.80)!

Chocolate croissant was small but very yummy! The mocha latte was perfect!

You get what you pay for. A (small) chocolate croissant and mocha latte cost almost $10 however they were perfectly delicious. The place is clean and orderly inside and the staff keeps things moving in a pleasant way.

Perfect outdoor seating and great for people watching! - chocolate croissant is flaky and delicious - cappuccino- strong and just what I needed

Clean store and great coffee. Very fast prep and serve. There's multiple HG locations. I definitely recommend this location.

Pretty standard coffee shop. Good amount of seating in a fairly open space. I had a matcha latte (not bad, not great) as well as a really good olive oil loaf. Service was standard, quick and simple

If I'm paying $6 for a 12oz of coffee can you please give me a greeting, smile, hello. For a bunch of people on cafine this was most depressing soul sucking place to visit. And apparently there's a trick to putting on the tops to your coffee. It took me 5 minutes to put the top on my coffee and a guy came over and said yeah. You need a degree for this! Oh and the coffee was not that good!

Ordered a mocha latte. The space is small but cozy. They play music so it is a bit loud. They have chairs, tables and benches to work. The service is quite fast and the staff is polite!

    The salmon toast!

Some of my favorites are the chicken Caesar sandwich, No Sleep till Gravesend, Kitchen Confidential and Grilled Cheese and in the winter, a delicious tomato soup. We come to sit, talk, share stories, our personal experiences and of course sip a fabulous beverage. I'm seeing this more and more as I visit fabulous coffee places.. Konditori, Villager, Bakeri, Hidden Grounds, and now Velvette Brew. First, the space: light, airy and I can imagine with their big windows, a sun soaked place on a sunny day. There are plenty of seats: tables and high top tables. Their menu offers a bit of everything from soup, sandwiches, quiche and pastries. There is a nice option of beverages hot/cold. Today, was a bit damp so I ordered a hot chai with bite size checkerboard cookies to dip. The barista was very pleasant and I found a seat while waiting for my chai. I see a lot of patrons working in laptops, some meeting up to talk and sip and even the barista chatted with a local patron. Love it! My chai was piping hot and absolutely delicious. The chai was frothy, rich, the black tea leaves infused with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, sweetener, and milk. I savored every sip and complimented the barista. It is always great to find a new coffee place. I expect to be a loyal local at Velvette Brew. They also host music events and have a collaboration with Cry Baby Ice Cream. It is located in the heart of Park Slope. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Velvette Brew 279 5th Avenue B63 to 3rd and 5th or R to Union Street, 10 minute walk.

The tacos comes in 4 per order and you can choose 2 different meat per order. I had the al pastor and shrimp taco. They were both ok flavor and taste wise but the 3 little shrimp was almost comical on the tortilla. (see picture) The birria sliders was good. We also ordered mussels, ribs and steak quesadilla from the regular menu to share. The ribs were ok and lacked flavor but it does come with a green sauce so maybe that's where you suppose to get the flavors. The quesadilla was good. The mussels were ok, they were fresh but again broth lacked flavor. The service was a bit slow on a Friday evening but I only saw 2 servers and one was also making the drinks. The place has a modern feel and looks nice with a small backyard for outdoor seats. They sat us in the back by the door and kitchen so not the best table since it's also by the trash cans. I would advise not to sit there if possible. FYI, it was not crowded with many open tables but I guess they sat us there due to lack of servers.
