I had a taste for iced coffee and I went to Door Dash Kitchens first but they didn't have simple syrup. Nowadays, I can't drink my iced coffee/cold brew without some simple syrup--the granulated sugar just sits at the bottom. I pulled up my Yelp app and found Hungry Ghost. There's no seating inside, just a bar, I guess to fix your drinks and I think there's a bench or some sort of seating outside. Basically, it's a grab and go place. They just give you the coffee and you pour your milk of choice and sweetener. While I was in there, another customer saw me pouring the syrup--he didn't even know it was there because it's not marked. Overall, it's nothing memorable but it will do the job. read more

Stopped by this cafe today for a quick coffee. I ordered an iced oat milk latte and honestly wasn't that impressed. It tasted sour and didn't compare to coffee I've gotten at other hungry ghost cafes. But hey given the other reviews this may just be a one time thing. One pro is that I did notice they have nitro brew and kombucha on tap! The place is clean and minimalistic, although my latte even for a NYC cafe was a little expensive ($6.80)! read more

I got a cappuccino yesterday that was amazing!!! However I wish I went on a different day bc it felt more like a daycare than a coffee shop. There were what felt like over a dozen kids in such a small space running around, strollers blocking walking walkways and oblivious parents talking to each other. I give it 5 bc obviously it isn't the baristas fault that it was like that and the coffee was delicious. However if you walk up to the shop and you see kids in there, I'd come back later when there's less chaos read more

And apparently there's a trick to putting on the tops to your coffee. It took me 5 minutes to put the top on my coffee and a guy came over and said yeah. You need a degree for this! I came here after a workout class to catch up with a friend, at first I wasn't sure if there was going to be a place to sit but luckily people don't crowd around for too long. I really enjoyed the salmon toast, the salmon was very fresh! I also got there chocolate croissant (not the most amazing but still tasty). Their matcha latte with oat milk was sooo good. I always assess a cafe by how well they make that drink and they did a great job. The bathroom was also very clean. You order at the counter and then you sit down and they bring you the food, it was cool how they remembered me- great service' the decorations make you feel like this is truly a brooklyn cafe! read more

I stopped by here twice because I just love the coffee and lattes here. Its a pretty neat spot with great ambience for a relaxed vibe. It has ample seating and tables for you to get work done or just have casual talk with some friends. I definitely would come back just to do a little bit of studying while enjoying a great roast. I personally love any place that uses Stumptown coffee and does it right since its one of my favorite roasts so its no surprise that I love the coffee here. Its also a plus that they offer oat milk here as well which is one of my personal favorites to put in coffee. Staff here is quite friendly and will be sure to pay attention to your requests. From what I've seen, the food here is also good so next time I stop by I will give their breakfast options a try. read more

It's not a nice coffee run anymore when four (!) different baristas ask me how I like my coffee, which bean variety I'm about to pick from the shelf across the store ("please just give me a moment to look, I haven't made it there yet"), and snap are me in the process. First, coordinate among yourselves please, and second, calm down -- it's just coffee -- and third, try not to roll your eyes at your sleepier-than-usual regular customers on a Sunday morning. I work in service too, and get that jobs are stressful. However, there's no reason to treat neighbors like they're an inconvenience. read more

Coffee is fine, but company is unprofessional and unfair to workers. There are no women in management or leadership, despite having a majority female staff. They also tend to let staff go without citing any specific violations of grievances other than "a change of culture" which seems to be linked to removing long term staff in favor of young, impressionable workers who can be paid less. I was a regular at one location where I enjoyed the professionalism and kindness of most of the workers. Within a couple of months, I noticed that none of the baristas were the same and discovered this to be the reason upon investigating. I was aghast to hear that such professional employees were let go. I will not be supporting this company again. Too many good coffee spots in NY to support ones that do not care about their staff! read more

Great alternative from the shops on a Saturday morning walk through the park. The weekend staff is busy and willing to have more personality than the opening cashier on the weekdays (Wednesday 10/8). The experienced morning weekday staff have excellent customer service (Barista) asking if I would like additional items. The cashier looks stressed and just there for the money. This place is insane..insanely small and insanely busy. Insanely expensive and insanely good. The coffee guys ( Im just gonna use that hipster coffee term baristas. Ohhh I just did) . These guys were literally working on top of esch other. Three dudes. How the hell they manuvered was besides me. The coffee beans were ground fresh for each order! The customers were so patient. But I guess when you are a 4 million a year bearded tech hipster you have all the leisure time in the world on a Sunday. The average wait was well over 2 minutes maybe 3 for each customer and there were about fifteen people in here. There was a nice selection of pastries and baked goods-- chocolate croissants, butter croissants, cheddar scallion biscuits, salted peanut butter cookies, brownies and muffins. I had an Americano medium. I'm a simple guy but the choices are Starbuck's endless. The coffee was the best I have ever had superseding Philadelphia's La Colombe. That's saying a lot. I've been looking for a go to spot around here for coffee AND iced tea (I find places are usually not strong in both) and finally I found it! Friendly and helpful barista explained that they make a large batch of black iced tea and will make any other kind to order. I got the jasmine green and it was delicious! Not watered down at all-great flavor. My guy got a nitro cold brew (how can you resist such a trendy drink?)- he didn't love it but I did! So smooth and creamy-you could literally drink it all day-dangerous. Found my new spot! read more

This afternoon I went to this location for a coffee. It was busy and there was a long line so I was able to observe the people before me being helped. When I was in the store I was one of about 15 other white people. There was one black woman ahead of me with her two children who ordered, paid, and went to sit and wait for her drink to be called. During the time I was there drinks would be called out when they were ready and placed on the counter to be picked up. I watched about 9 people grab their drink before the black woman went to check on her drink and was told it would be up next. She returned to her children and went back up to grab her drink 30 seconds later when it was called. As she grabbed the drink the manager behind the cash register stopped her and asked if that was her drink. Understandably she was offended given that he had not asked any of the previous customers and she was the only black customer in the store. Instead of apologizing the manager became defensive and denied the accusation stating that he asks everyone. Even after she plainly explained to him how his question came across (i.e., accusing the only black customer of taking someone's drink) the manager denied the claim and dismissively told her to enjoy her drink. If you don't like your coffee with a side of racism, get your oat milk latte elsewhere. read more

I also got a chocolate filled croissant although you can't pay for food items with the CUPS app. There's some seating, maybe half a dozen tables and I did manage to grab a seat on a Saturday afternoon to get some work done. Wow, this spot was super busy on a Sunday morning. Everyone there seemed to expect that already, knowing how to weave the line around the space and even out the door. Manager rudely and accusatorily asked the only Black person in the store if that was her drink she'd just picked up. When she didn't let him get away with it he argued with her but did not apologize. After putting her drink down by her children, she even went back and tried to explain to him in a calm and reasonable tone (something I'd have been too shaken to do) what it looked like, he still did not apologize. read more
