I've lived in the neighborhood for about 10 years, and I've gone into this joint a handful of times. The vibes are always just OK. The service is not super welcoming, nor is it super standoffish. They're kind of just... there. There's a lot of potential here and I seem to always be expecting more when I visit, but in all honestly it never fully disappoints me nor does it ever really dazzle me either. Kind of how my salmon toast was served on a plastic to go tray. And it tasted... just... fine. Feels like it was thrown together to check a box, but nothing special really. It got the job done and was an easy clean up. If you're in the area and want a cup of coffee or a pastry with no expectations, stop in. Maybe the staff will notice you, maybe they won't. A patron gave up and walked out while waiting for the staff to acknowledge them during my visit today. And I have walked out in the past for similar reasons. Terrible service and Terrible sandwich. Couldn't complain bc it was slow and staff incompetent! I had to rush out bc of a dr's apt. I came for coffee and sandwich- typical morning. Started my day off great until I ate the egg and avocado sandwich- egg looked tinted and had a fowl awkward taste so I asked them for hot sauce and it made it better but not great left the establishment and had issues in the WC- food allergy to the sandwich!!! I have been meaning to go to this café for a while now since they have catchy billboards outside. My first impression of this café is that it didn't feel cozy. I'm not sure why, but something was amiss. The barista wasn't the most friendly in his demeanor, but I was grateful that he asked me what type of milk I would like because some cafés miss that question I ordered a hazelnut latte with almond milk that I enjoyed as I finished a book. They have great food options for those who may want a quick bite. It looks like it would be a great café to come study or work from home. The Wi-Fi password wasn't in a easy to find. When I asked where it was the server just pointed in the direction of Where I could find it, without saying a word. I hope he feels better. read more

It was a great morning after getting an iced caramel latte and an almond croissant from here. The latte was a little sweeter than usual (which is perfect for me) and the croissant was very tasty. The baristas were very kind and the inside was very clean and modern. Definitely a once a week place for me while im visiting Brooklyn. read more

Grabbed a coffee while on a Saturday morning walk. I enjoyed the flavor of their iced coffee and decent prices make it a worthwhile stop. Quality: Went with a Cold Brew Iced Coffee and was very happy with the flavor. A little bit of bitterness, but not so much to overwhelm the drink. Mixed with some cream and sugar it was very good. Quantity: Standard size drinks. Value: $5.00 for a Medium Cold Brew. Ambiance: Espresso Me is located on the edge of Cobble Hill. It is easy to pass as it is the only business in a deserted strip and right next to a construction site. It looks like they had an outdoor street area, but there were no tables or chairs set up. Inside they had some seating both in the front and alongside the ordering area. Music was quiet and it seemed like a nice place to read or do some work. this coffee is so good. like some of the best, never burnt. Its always quick service too, with a good playlist going. The avocado toasts are also really nice and I'm so excited for gelato in the summer. It's in a great location to stop in before heading to the pier (or to stop in when heading home). Also what I love is that, while its still expensive in the grand scheme of life, I feel its a pretty fair deal in the grand scheme of NY. Like I got a large iced coffee with specialty milk and it was 5.75 before tip. While it still is expensive its MUCH better than swallow cafe down the street which can be like 8-9 dollars for the same thing. I really hope they keep their prices like this. It just feels right. Stumbled upon this gem leaving the hospital next door. What a perfect little cafe. The latte was perfection and I had the Park Slope toast which was exactly what I was hoping for. Only reason it's not 5 stars is I was with someone and his food took much, much longer to come out so he didn't start eating until I was done. read more

This place is your friendly, neighborhood coffee shop. It's a comfy and cozy spot to relax, do some work while grabbing a good cup of joe. Have kids? No problem, this place is very family friendly and even have a selection of books for the little ones. They serve up Tobys Estate, which is roasted in Williamsburg, and Dough Doughnuts' pastries. The espresso tonic is my favorite off their menu. My regular go to cortado also doesn't disappoint! Their list of sandwich offerings is also great. A great snack for when your crunching away on the computer or for a pre-workout meal. Alan and his team are always happy and enthusiastic to meet anyone that walks through the door, and take great care in putting your order together. They really give a down to earth, kind, original New York friendliness and hospitality. You always feel welcomed. This would be a phenomenal coffee shop if there was just any consistency to when their kitchen is open. Have had an unusual number of experiences when I walk in and they aren't serving food for one reason or another. I asked if there was any kind of pattern to when they do and don't serve food and they said no -- on this particular day *both* baristas were new and hadn't been trained. This cafe is in a bit of a weird location; you wouldn't necessarily walk past it unless you're involved with the school across the street. That might change once the places under construction open up on the block. One advantage is that if for whatever reason you're looking to exit the expressway for a nice hipster coffee and you want to park your car, this is a good area for that. The matcha is top notch, none of that gritty stuff you get in some cafes. This is fine powder well mixed! I also really appreciate that they have the option of a smaller cup size. Great espresso here, and everything from snacks to meal sized sandwiches. There are cafes that charge $4 for a small avocado toast; there are cafes that charge $10+ for the same. Here the price is in the middle but they actually give you two pieces of bread absolutely stacked with fresh avo. And it's delicious. Plenty of seating available, nice big front window means lots of natural light, and free WiFi. Gender neutral restrooms, pay by cash or card. read more

Really cozy coffee spot right off Exit 27 on the BQE and also nearby the Brooklyn Pier where I shoot hoops. I usually have my coffee black; the flavor was rich and smooth. Love the interior decor of this place. Very comfy and homely seeming which makes it a great place to sit and get work done. They have tobys estate and Stumptown coffees on offer. Also a selection of sandwiches and juices which I have not yet tried. I particularly like the breve and swing by here every once in a while to have it. My biggest turn off from this spot and what keeps me from visiting more frequently is that the staff has always been frosty and indifferent. Not even a half smile ever. It makes you feel rather unwelcome and as if you are imposing. Its a really cool spot and has the potential to have such a great vibe but sadly, it doesn't. read more

Off the beaten path. Good place to study. Many outlets, Wifi, nice ambiance and ample seating. (Side note: How pretentious is the word "ambiance?") They have a nice selection of teas, coffees, pastries, and even fresh juices. Matcha latte was very good (ask for it unsweetened if you don't want honey). They also have a food menu which is in an interesting location (behind you when you are standing facing the register). I stopped in to get an Americano. The espresso was weak & for $3.50, it was disappointing. The service was lacking, and here's why. I asked for a small Americano in a medium cup, & the girl filled the cup all the way to the top with water, so my drink was watered down. That's fine. I asked for another shot & paid $1.63. But when the girl at the counter seemed annoyed & bothered as if I made a mistake, it got my attention. So she dumps out half my drink & adds the extra shot now, & now my Americano is too strong. Mistakes happen but when you have an attitude & you're paying over priced amounts, it's a turn off. Won't be back there again, as there's plenty of coffee places with better espresso. Some advice for the girl at the counter with the attitude; you're not doing anyone a favor, you're just serving coffees, so maybe in a world of trolls you might be cool, but in this world you're just another person serving coffee. Got the cold brew here while waiting for the Brooklyn Cat Cafe nearby. The cold brew tasted really good/high quality. The matcha latte was also something that sounded tasty, but really needed a caffeine boost so went with the cold brew. It is a really cute spot and seems great for studying. It was really quiet in the cafe and it seemed like most people were reading or studying. There's a lot of seating, lighting is good and the music wasn't too loud. There's also free WiFi. Might be good to pick up a coffee here and bring it to the cat cafe next door. Would definitely recommend if in the area looking for a cute coffee shop or a place to wind down and study. read more

Great little cafe on the end of Atlantic (a short walk from Brooklyn Bridge Park). The space is a mix of cozy and cute. It was pretty full in the early afternoon. The barista was incredibly nice with my off menu probably order. The drink was pretty good, I tend to like my chai to be a slight bit spicy- but that is a personal preference. I would recommend the spot for a great spot to meet up and catch up with a friend. This place was so. Mediocre. Sad, because I was hoping to find another coffee shop to add into my weekend caffeine rotation. Their branding seemed kind of half assed, there was nothing special about the coffee or service, and they have a sign that says 25c to combine stamp cards. I'm happy to have a coffee shop in the neighborhood and to see non-vacant storefronts at the end of Atlantic/on Atlantic in general. Staff is nice and food is decent. Coffee is expensive - when did drip coffee hit $3.75? Oh New York... I've come to work a few times during the day and the place feels really dirty. I get the impression that no one ever cleans the floors, surfaces or bathroom...ever. This is basic and makes me very hesitant to return. Also, the music is, at times, unbearable.
