I love Kos. The bread here is great (i have gotten it as butter toast with jam), although as a sandwich it can be somewhat difficult to bit through the edges, haha. The egg salad is amazing though. The vibes here are always good, and there is outdoor seating. If you're working from here, just note they have laptop time sectioned off during certain hours, and even though their WiFi is titled "fast," i did not have that experience. Maybe there were too many people on the network. Great neighborhood cafe! I came here to read one day though and had a lovely afternoon. read more

Really lovely staff for the most part and the smell of bread they've managed to put out is top tier but let's face it, it's incredibly overpriced even for the neighborhood and most of the coffee drinks are underwhelming. I think at first I really dug the interior, kinda going for that quiet town kinda vibe but after a while I was like....who are you trying to kid? Stopped by to grab some baked goods for a small get together and their baked stuff is pretty top notch! I was especially blown away by their gluten free olive oil cake. I know, gluten free? Olive oil? But trust me when I say it's not gummy but light and really delicious. The orange ginger scone I got was also delicious. Both the regular and chocolate croissants were ok, not the best but not the worst in the hood. My chai latte was pretty weak though. Service can be a bit slow but there's only 1 barista making drinks and this place was pretty packed as in all the tables were taken by people on their laptops. I guess this is another local coffee/work from home spot. So just keep that in mind if you want to come here with a friend to sit and chat. They do have tables outside but no heater so not great in colder months. read more

They may forget to add an egg, or just give a wrong sandwich, or drop the ball altogether and let the order "fall through the cracks" somehow. Could the service be worse? Wait 5 min at the register to be acknowledged by someone behind the counter. Then wait another 10 min for your drink. Stood in line with a friend, ordered our breakfasts at the same time, and hers was delivered to our table 35 min earlier than mine. She had essentially finished eating by the time my food arrived, ordered at the same time. Served with miniscule plastic forks and knives in cellophane. When we asked for jam they wanted to charge an add'l $2. This is after waiting 40 min for toast and eggs!!!. Then you are expected to bus your own table after paying $30 for breakfast and coffee. From the outside, this looks like the perfect coffee shop--it's spacious and nicely decorated. It has a homely feel, and I really enjoyed the large tables. There wasn't an issue finding a seat, but do note that only a portion of the tables allow laptops. The benches do seem way too high for the table, so I found it quite uncomfortable. I ordered a mocha, which came out to be around $6. It was good, but took at least 10 min to come out. Their WiFi is also pretty slow, and I wasn't able to use it. It kept dropping me every 5 min. It was pretty frustrating considering I wanted to get some work done. Overall, this is a cute place for if catching up with friends or reading a book. But if you want to properly do some work with a stable wifi connection, this is absolutely not the place. read more

This place is cute and the staff are pleasant enough. My coffee was fine, if a bit watery. The place was very loud, but you could probably have had a conversation with your table without issue. The establishment is pretty dirty though, there's coffee splashes on the walls and noticeable dirt on the fans. I only noticed this because their Wi-Fi throttled me after an hour and kicked me off every 5 minutes, which gave me ample time to look for things like dirt and grime. They also leave the additions on you, which as someone who rarely feels places add the correct proportions of cream and sugar, I am a fan of. Here I can only blame myself. During my last visit I also ordered some food, the Sausage And Egg Biscuit. It is pork sausage and egg served on a cheddar-chive biscuit. It was tasty, but quite small. I was a fan of the greens served on the side, which added a nice citrusy complement. Quantity: The Large Cold Brew is pretty standard in size, I felt like the Sausage And Egg Biscuit was a little small considering the price. Value: $4.50 for a Large Cold Brew. $13.50 for a Sausage And Egg Biscuit. Ambiance: Kos Kaffe Roasting House is located in Park Slope. They have a large mural outside with flowers and vegetables, so if heading north on 5th, they are hard to miss. Outside they have a few small tables under their awning, which people populated despite the rain. Inside the space is quite big, so even with reduced seating, there were still plenty of tables. They have soft music playing in the background, wonderful smells everywhere, and the noises from the machines were surprisingly muted. Crowd: On a rainy Sunday morning there were a few people outside under the awning and a few more inside with laptops and books. It is definitely a comfortable space to sit back and enjoy your coffee. Service: The staff is extremely friendly. I also appreciate the fact that they have the milk options and sugar out, so you can decide how much or little you want. It's the end of December and freezing outside and I stopped here to get nice and warm and cozy, but this place was freezing! People has their coats on still. I really wanted to like this place. I've been here dozens of times because it's local to me, over 2yrs. I've spent hundreds of dollars here. But at a certain point, I realized it just isn't working out. Why I kept going -- the coffee is good; they make a strong latte and charge a very good price for it. I've bought per cup, and I also bought their beans multiple times. I've brought friends here, too. The food is decent, a little expensive, not bad but not something I would purposefully seek out. More like, it's available and I'm already here. The food is very photogenic. Why I'm not going anymore -- the service is bad. They're friendly people, and that's just fine. But they're also REALLY slow. I mean I've waited 20min+ for a morning latte, and it wasn't that busy. There was like 3 other customers. Numerous times, there's plenty of staff but they're just joking around with each other behind the counter. They're nice but they're not doing their job. At a certain point, the job is what matters....not every customer is here to just hang out. You gotta keep the line moving. I also think they should call out names (when your order is ready) MUCH louder than they do. I've seen multiple people waiting around and not realizing their cup was ready, so it's not just 1 person with poor hearing. Lately their rewards system is "down", and I guess that's it for me. Nothing else tying me to them, I'll take my money elsewhere. TONS of cafe's in this neighborhood. read more
