Immediately when you walk in to this place you get the sense that it's a real neighborhood spot. The baristas know most of the patrons by name and ask about their travel plans and side gigs, they're unapologetically playing 90s alt, they decorated their fig tree with ornaments for the holidays. There are a handful of little tables and bar stools, it can get a bit crowded and isn't ideal for large groups, but if you go at the right time (maybe a rainy Sunday afternoon) to get some work done or catch up with a friend, you'll likely be able to find a spot. I would come back for a coffee but tried the breakfast bun, solid yet a little pricey. It was tasty--egg was nicely runny, spicy mayo was a good call, avocado was a tad underripe. It's inspiring me to get brioche rolls and pickled onions and make the darn thing at home, then come back to Aura to enjoy the lovely atmosphere with a specialty brew. Because it really is worth it just to experience that slice of central Brooklyn, to have the feeling you're in a small town for just a few hours. read more

Cute little coffee shop with some pastries and a breakfast sandwich. Colorful and cozy, staff are super friendly and food/coffee is great. Got a cappuccino and breakfast sandwich and they were reasonably priced. Sit outside if it's a nice day and they have limited indoor seating. read more

Tiny coffee shop with a big personality. I ordered a latte to-go, which was probably for the best because the space can really only accommodate a few people. There are a couple tables and no chairs, just benches that line the walls. I only spotted one outlet. A couple board games fill a shelf near the door. As others have said, this place is really dirty. Tables are not cleaned, floor kinda disgusting, dog hair all over sofas. Matcha had very little taste and didn't look right - should be a bright green and this was green-brown and tasted that way. Karen likes her matcha the right way. Not comin back. read more

I know it's sort of a cliche that if you are a barista in Brooklyn you have to be rude, but this place really takes it to the next level. Staff looks supremely bored and irritated when you order, they never seem to wash their hands when handling food or making drinks. The coffee is fine but the whole experience of ordering coffee there is really uncomfortable and the interior is unkempt at best. They get two stars for offering outdoor seating and having decent iced coffee. Really a bummer since this area is pretty sparse in terms of good cafes. read more

Originally wasn't going to leave a review, was hoping they will improve, but instead of improving the coffee they are busy leaving their trash outside for days, creating a rat problem in their buildings back yard. Very cute spot with friendly service, good ambiance, and a wide assortment of drinks and pastries. I love the little pink drink covers they use which is nice and unique. Last time I went I got some kind of lavender tea (I've now forgotten), which was good but could have been a little stronger in flavor IMO. It's late on a Sunday afternoon and I stopped by Aura after I popped my stuff in the dryer around the corner. Needed a cup of coffee and wanted a snack. I got a small hot drip coffee, it was the perfect strength and temperature, for late in the day sometimes you get the bottom of the pot and it's real sad, but this was perfect. I also ordered the breakfast bun. I was totally expecting a premade sandwich they just warmed up as they don't have much of a kitchen, but the cheerful staff dropped off to my surprise a fresh, hot egg Sammie made to order. It was soo delish! 2 perfect runny eggs, salty & buttery brioche bun, spicy aioli, arugula, tomato and avo. Totally exceeded my expectations. I will definitely stop by next time I do laundry to make the task less painful. read more
