Walking into Aunts et Uncles feels like you're stepping into a little Caribbean oasis away from the hectic streets of Brooklyn right outside the front door. Food was amazing, lightweight but filling. I love what they have done with vegan food and including Caribbean flavors! As a fellow Lucian, the story of auntys peppa sauce was heartwarming, seeing Chairman's by the bar and also the family photos reminded me of my own family and gatherings. Service was great, the lattes and coffee were made to perfection and the waitress made sure they were to our liking. The decor is intentional and has the love of the diaspora throughout. I will definitely be back. Thank you for putting on for the culture!

Im a non vegan but I do like to try different vegan restaurants. Decided to pay this place a visit for dinner. Its a very small restaurant with limited seating. It reminds me of a place I would go to for lunch vs dinner. It does have a small bar with cocktails and wine. The servers were very friendly and helpful with suggesting what to have off of the menu. We ordered the loaded potatoes to share. Then we got the So Simple Chicken sandwich and the Lobster Roll. All were very good. The lobster roll tasted just like a lobster roll. I wish there was a little less mayo on there though. The pretzel bun hit the spot and now I would love for all of my lobster rolls to come on a pretzel bun. My friend enjoyed the chicken sandwich. We only wished the gouda was a little melted but the hot maple sauce was clutch! Loaded potatoes were excellent. Definitely a shareable. We didn't even put a dent in it and we took the rest home. Very good experience. The food was flavorful and innovative which is important for vegan cuisine.

There is something about this neighborhood that I love. The energy, the people, the mix of working class, upper class, families, students, elders, every nationality under the sun. This is the real New York. It is lively, grounded, and full of hardworking individuals who give the area its personality. What I appreciate most is that Flatbush actually has places to go. Some neighborhoods in this city have almost no social outlets, which makes the social scene feel like tumbleweeds rolling by. Here, there are establishments everywhere, and they give the community its rhythm and identity. I hope the rent stays manageable so all of these businesses can keep thriving, because they are essential to the neighborhood's growth and strength. Now, on to Aunts et Uncles. I had seen this spot all over social media and kept telling myself I needed to check it out. I ended up visiting twice during the summer, choosing times when the crowd would be light, and I was very glad I did. I did not make any reservations. The space is airy, artsy, and clean. It has that organic and modern feel without trying too hard. It is spacious, welcoming, and just a cool place to be. The clientele is friendly, down to earth, and cosmopolitan. The staff is awesome, very warm, and very genuine. On my second visit, I went for the mushroom burger because my first experience convinced me I had to return. The burger was delicious. The only thing that did not fully move me was the cheese, but that is on me. I am not vegan or vegetarian, although I eat vegan food from time to time. My taste buds are still trained on regular cheese. If you are vegan, you will probably rave about it. I am not holding that against the dish because everything else was excellent. My friend loved her food as well. We shared our plates and both walked away happy. At one point the staff came around with something freshly made that was not even on the menu yet. They offered a sample for two dollars. I said yes immediately, because who turns down a surprise treat in Brooklyn? And it was great. The overall design, the quality of the food, the selection, the atmosphere, and the staff all earn this place a solid five. The drinks behind the bar looked top tier, even though I did not order any that day. It is the kind of spot where you can go solo, bring a friend, bring a date, bring the family, or just chat with the staff or another patron. It has that comfortable, welcoming vibe that is rare. I highly recommend Aunts et Uncles. I am already looking forward to going back and exploring more of the menu. Honestly, I kind of wish I lived in that neighborhood. Peace.

Made reservations via resy as we wanted to be sure to get a table. Walked in and there were enough empty tables to choose from. We chose to sit on the couch. So comfortable. The vibe is so chill so laidback. Loved it. Service was great. Easy to understand the menu. I'm not vegan so I'm still finding my way but the food was very tasty. Ordered the Shirley temple. Delicious. Ordered Mac and cheese, chicken sandwich, loaded potatoes, smash burger. Everything and I mean everything was perfect. Highly recommend coming here. Bathroom on site neat and clean. Near all transportation.

Tight Quarters & Missed Expectations For a Friday evening date, my husband suggested we check out a Caribbean-inspired, vegan restaurant. I was curious--especially because I do appreciate veggie-forward meals--but the experience ended up being a bit of a mixed bag. Food: 3/5 We asked the server for recommendations and landed on a jerk chicken sandwich, plant-based lasagna, mac & cheese, and the standout of the night: the Crying Ryan--a peanut cauliflower dish that actually packed some flavor and texture. Unfortunately, the rest didn't quite hit. The lasagna leaned heavily on fake meat (which I personally don't love). I was hoping for something lentil-based or hearty and veggie-driven. The jerk sandwich was better--my husband enjoyed it--but the mac & cheese was a letdown: mushy noodles, overcooked, and a sauce that didn't hold up. The half ginger / half sorrel drink was so aggressively gingery I couldn't finish it--though my husband liked his Sangria well enough. All in all, for a $130 tab after tip, I expected more depth and balance in the food. Service & Vibe: 2/5 The vibe? Honestly kind of chaotic. - The space is super tight, and many of the tables are block-style or communal, so if you value elbow room--this isn't it. - The staff seemed really overwhelmed, dropping things, running around, and missing small service details. - And to top it off, people were still on laptops past 8 PM. The café-restaurant hybrid feel made it feel less like a Friday night date and more like we stumbled into a coworking session. All in all would I go back? Probably not. While I appreciate plant-forward menus and love Caribbean flavors, the execution felt scattered, the space was too cramped for comfort, and for the price, I'd rather head somewhere with better energy and consistency.

I was here for a kickback. The ambiance was a vibe and the drinks were reasonable and good. The food menu was limited and ended up eating elsewhere for that reason.

One of my new favorite places. Dropped in for a lunch date with a friend. Decided to order the lobster roll, loaded fries and soca sangria. The lobster roll was so flavorful and delicious, the roll perfectly toasted and crisp. Loaded fries were also packed with flavor, for the spicy lovers. And the soca sangria was fantastic. The young man that waited on us was a pleasure and the store was such a vibe and super clean. Will definitely be back!

I'd seen the kiosk in front of the Brooklyn Museum but never tried it. Will definitely go now! This place was really cute--loved the eclectic vibe. Only issue is that twice we tried to order something only to be told they were out of something, which was a bummer. But ultimately we were all happy with our food and drink. I had the Lovely Day salad and added the lobster mix, and it just might have been the most delicious salad ever. I loved every element, and the lobster mix really was reminiscent of a lobster roll. It was really filling, too! I couldn't finish the salad, but luckily my friend who had ordered the taco finished it for me. She liked the taco but didn't find it substantial enough. My other friend ordered and enjoyed the smash burger. The Sumtin'Nice cocktail was delicious and refreshing. Will definitely go back or order delivery again soon!

    Jerk Jackfruit Sandwich
    Vishnu G.

This was a great choice for unique food. I tried the jerk jackfruit sandwich and the cryin' Ryan. The sandwich came on fluffy bread, and the jackfruit filling inside was in a tart and complex sauce. The greens made for a fresh addition to cut through the sandwich and added to the presentation. The cryin' Ryan was spicy and creamy from the peanut sauce. The meal was certainly expensive at a total of $45 after tax and tip, but I also think I over-ordered a bit. Choosing a smaller side would probably hit the right portion size and price point. It was well worth the trip.

During the summertime, we had an opportunity to visit the Little Caribbean neighborhood in Brooklyn. Here, we found this lovely spot, a plant-based, vegan friendly restaurant. We heard great thing about them, so we decided to try it out. We were there for a brunch, so we started off with Latte with Macadamia Milk. The coffee was really good, and macadamia milk provided nutty flavor, which was great. For food, we ordered So Simple Chicken Samich, and Cryin Ryan. I added a side of fries to the sandwich, on the menu said additional $3.50, but the actual charge was $4. The total came out to be $23, felt a bit pricy for sandwich and fries. The fries had maybe Cajun-type seasoning (?) with a kick, giving a flavorful spicy flavor. It was really good! The "chicken" or crispy oyster mushroom also had a little kick, juicy and delicious. The vegan cheese felt apart as I ate, not the best kind for a sandwich in my opinion for that reason. Messy to eat but so worth it! Cryin Ryan is made with Roasted Cauliflower, and we ordered the half. And the half was quite huge! The cauliflower had the perfect texture, and the top and outer edges became almost like a soft ground meat texture. It had a little sweetness mixed with a strong spicy flavor. It was delicious! We loved our food so much, we decided to push our luck with a dessert. We ordered Pudding Cake. On the menu, it said $14, but the actual charge was $15. Not sure the reason why the charge on some things are different from the listed price. The cake was warm and very moist, sweet without being too sweet. Whipped cream was more like white-colored sauce, without much flavor. Not the best dessert. Overall, we had a really nice brunch here. The staffs were super friendly and welcoming. The food was quite tasty. Again, the price point might be a bit higher on some items, but I say it was worth every penny.

Amazing food. I came here with my step dad for brunch & it was delicious. He is not vegan. Furthest thing from it actually lol but he loved his food. He had the smash burger and said he would definitely return to have it again. He really enjoyed it. I had the sweet waffles, sausage, and home fries. Very good. The waffles were really good and so was the sausage. Home fries were seasoned very well. The service was good also. Very intentive. Lastly, the decor is very nice. I like the sitting arrangement. I will definitely be back to visit.

Do they have anything that is safe for people with nut allergies ? There are nuts in a few of the dishes, and they only list GF and SF indicators on the menu. We would love to visit, but I have an allergy. Has anyone with nut allergies gone?

You don't need a reservation to dine in and they are open on Thursdays. I have called various times of the day and they always pick up the phone. I just tried making a Thursday reservation and the site works fine/has slots available.

Are there any house made fake meats (not impossible or beyond)?

I've had the entire menu minus the roast cauliflower and I'm gonna say no, there aren't any house-made meats. Maybe the so simple sandwich, but when I had it, it didn't taste/look house made.

They serve oysters, which adds to that aphrodisiac experience of the oh so 'wow this is a former brothel!'. The bartenders and servers were fast and very sociable with the more sociable customers. The immediate entrance is very tight, and it was uncomfortable navigating the space. We expected there'd be more seating in the back, which there was, but it was limited and not offered to us until we asked for it. We honestly had no clue where it would be and only asked because of how this place was advertised. While it was comfy once we made our way back there, it was reminiscent of a lounge style bar space that almost any bar could replicate with the right room and budget. We didn't feel as though this hit the spot and were let down by this experience. I'm not sure if I can judge the menu of drinks/ foods as expensive, but we left hungry bc we couldn't justify some of the prices. In addition, I've seen a lot of complaints about the volume of the music: it's definitely loud at the front but a lot lower in that back lounge space. It's as loud as any bar's music level would be, but truth be told we were expecting music that matched the vibe of what was advertised and yes, at a lower volume.

That the space is narrow with just a few seats along the bar and a few tables mimics the Japanese experience best, where you can almost have it so the whole room is having one conversation together. The music is the focus. The cocktail menu is rather simple, and my Stormbringer drink, with dark rum and ginger beer was not anything to write home about, but $15 is pretty low for cocktails these days so I'll take it. My friend and I each order a cocktail, and are catching up. I'm from Brooklyn, however I no longer live here, and this was precious catch-up time with my friend. Then I get interrupted mid-sentence by the old-timer DJ from his low seat in a corner behind the bar. I had bumped the bar with my wrist (bumped my wrist watch as well, not deliberately) and then placed my hand down (granted- more than placed but definitely not slammed), and he decided to warn me that I COULD HAVE made his record skip. It was the Eagles or Santana (far from eclectic, but that's just me). I'm also 99% certain he turned the volume up afterwards, making it even harder to enjoy the company. After that interaction, I struggled to pick it back up with my friend, because I found that distraction very effing rude. When this "4th wall" gets broken down with service, it is hard to then enjoy the space in an uninhibited state. I am all for the Tokyo Vinyl Bar vibe, and I'm also for also giving talent an outlet to share their collection, but this interaction colored my experience, and I closed out after one drink and went elsewhere. I mentioned this to the bartender, and he was kind to offer a buy-back of a rare whiskey, which I did accept. 5 stars for the bartender, but 1 for my experience. I don't like to be harsh or unnecessarily cruel, but this is what it is. I have visited in the past and enjoyed myself. Nonetheless, I certainly won't be coming back.
