Risbo is a fast casual, buffet style French rotisserie restaurant in Brooiklyn that seems to be all the rage (well, at the time of me writing this review). We hit up Risbo recently on our way to a concert at King's Theatre... so it was all about location for us that evening. In other words, we stumbled up on this place more or less. And we're glad we we did because Risbo really such a cool place. Who knew?!? The other cool thing about Risbo is that it has a bar inside!! You might be thinking: Wait, lots of restaurants have bars inside. Yes, that is true... but I don't often see bars inside fast casual restaurants. So you can come for a drink and to hang out... and then hit up the food line when you're ready to eat. It's kinda like a combo hang out / eat spot! Speaking of food, it's all really good. We tried both the chicken and pork with a few different sides. I think the portions could be a little larger (for the price), but everything really tasted great. A friend recommended Risbo when in the area. We got there right at opening. The decor is beautiful and simple. I loved the paintings. It's definitely casual in that you pay at the counter and go grab your food. There is communal seating and some tables in the back. On a pretty weather day there's seating outside in the back. The food, absolutely delicious. The chicken is savory. The mash potato was yum. My friend had a beet/ blueberry side woww it was delicious. risbo is a popular french restaurant located near prospect park. i've passed by this location on many occasions, and it's always super busy inside. the first time i went, it took a long time to get my food, there was a mistake with my order, and they were out of meat, which was frustrating. however, on a different occasion, i ordered the food for delivery. the food was pretty good. i tried the whatever platter, and the chicken portion was large, flavored well, and had a nice sear and spice on the outside. the mashed potatoes were creamy and had a perfect texture. the greens on the side were a bit bitter; i think they are seasonal, so there's no guarantee as to what they will be. overall, it was a solid meal. also, inside the restaurant, there's indoor and outdoor seating. however, it's super difficult to get a seat when they're busy, so i'd just plan ahead for that. read more

The fault is mine for not doing my research before I came. You get food that is... fine... basically an assortment of sides from a hot buffet on paper plates or in a slop bowl, there are no actual dishes... and it is a bit pricey for a hot buffet, especially considering there is no service-- stand on line to order at the counter, pick up your food from the pick up area, bus your own tray-- and of course the point of sale machine prompts you for a 20-30% tip. Most of the seating is benches or tiny stools. There's barely an attempt at decor. There is a back yard, with some potted plants and otherwise little thought put toward it. I just don't really get it. It's like someone's not trying, except maybe to make money; or they're just not that good at this? Idk. I've been looking for a new apartment, and this is a cute little spot in the neighborhood I've been looking in. My dad had found it online, and upon entering, I thought it was adorable. There's large tables for communal seating, and an adorable outdoor garden with cushions on the floor. It has a very homey vibe. You order and pick up your food at the counter, but unfortunately the service was a bit slow. The staff is very friendly, though, so once we brought it to their attention that we were still waiting, they fixed it right away, and our food came out soon after. I got the vegan pulled pork, which instead of pork, used seitan. It came with a side of spicy cabbage slaw. Even with the wait, it was absolutely delicious. So much flavor in one meal! Oh my gosh I've returned and will not stop raving about the food here. Walked to Risbo after hitting up the Bath house down the street. What a wonderful end to the night. The new-to-us items this time: the chicken, the cobbler, and the Beets w/ blueberries. The chicken has to be my new favorite - super flavorful and juicy. The lighting filters in from outside and there are lots of plants to look at while you're spending time there. I came on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. Ordered the lamb hash, Ojja morguez, which is basically a shashuka, and a side of hummus. The dishes came with pita bread. I wish the pita was a bit more soft. But the lamb was so tender, well seasoned and flavorful. The shashuka was also delicious. Portions were okay, but wish it was bigger. Overall, food was delicious. I would like to come back for their dinner menu. Staff were also friendly. The chef (I assume is also the owner) was super nice and helped with the high chair. Wow this place is simple but so good and it feels super healthy too! I highly recommend their Risbo platter (all the proteins are good but I think chicken is the best). The chicken was super juicy and the jus drizzled over is bursting with concentrated chicken flavor, I never knew chicken can be so flavourful. The other banger in the platter is the rice. Super well seasoned and perfect chew. It is placed next to the beets, so it lended a bit of sweetness which was nice (huge fan of sweet and savory). I will say however that the seasoning and texture on the rice can be inconsistent, but the visit that had the best quality was really good. Especially with the chicken over rice. The sauces with the rice and chicken are super good as well. For instance the aioli and I highly recommend the chili oil as well (it's like Lao gan ma, which is so good over rice) The hummus, plantains and red cabbage are such great sides as well, refreshing and a nice balance to the richer proteins. Had to wait about 20 minutes or so before grabbing my food at the counter. Once I started eating, I immediately knew why this man I met at a party talked at length about their fried egg and avocado- it's really that good. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, seasoned with lots of garlic, thyme and rosemary. The Mac and cheese was nice and cheese, while not being greasy in the slightest. The real cherry on top was the Pear Brûlée Cheesecake, which was rich but also very balanced and layered in terms of flavor. It's like an adult cafeteria where you order, find a seat, and go pick up your tray. The servers knew the menu well and were able to aide me in my order. That crispy crunch on the lamb, what is it Risbo? Whatever you do, whatever you use KEEP ON. It's a textural sensation! And although the meat got cold OUTSIDE (to be expected), the taste was still very present. Seasoned to perfection. All the sides including cauliflower, hummus, rice, red cabbage, plantains etc that came with my platter went down beautifully. There's no table service so you order at the counter inside, collect your drinks at the tiny bar and head on down to the backyard with your beeper. Food doesn't take long when it's quiet patron wise so you'll be beeped pretty quickly. Inside is nice but the backyard wins for me! It's an assortment of cute tables, chairs and pouf seats. Try and grab a table and chair because I noticed some struggling from others on the poufs. Clay pots, trees, lighting and the zig-zag design of the seating adds to the charm of the backyard if you ask me. Staff extremely welcoming. Saw Risbo on TikTok as I was looking for a nice, quiet spot for a solo brunch. The stunning interior and roasted chicken both looked amazing and I was not disappointed. There is a bar to the side and fast-casual ordering as you walk in. I got the Oeuf Brouillé ($18.00) which came with: Creamy French-style scrambled eggs, crème fraîche, chives, salad, roasted potatoes, toast. I got a side of 1/4 Roasted Chicken ($10) and a French 75. Everything was gorgeous; I never had French scrambled eggs and the texture was so light/fluffy. Their roasted chicken was seasoned well, although I prefer my chicken to be cooked a hair longer. This is a cute place on Flatbush that I've unknowingly passed by numerous times. The menu seemed fairly fresh and healthy so we stopped in. The price of the food doesn't match the counter service imo. For two of us to get entrees and and a ginger drink was nearly $80. I got the platter with a whole branzino fish that was about $36 if I remember correctly. The fish was yummy and the sides were unique but not as good. My friend got the same but with lamb. The lamb was a suuuuuper small portion and not that tasty. Wouldn't recommend. The hunger drink was refreshing and just spicy enough. The food here is spectacular. The best way to describe it is gourmet fast dining. Think about a fancier version of Boston Market. I went with the dinner special of Roasted Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and the house veggies. A quarter Chicken is plentiful for a portion. It's moist and loaded with flavor. It has this jus that i poured over the mash. Complemented the chicken perfectly. The house veggies that day were sautéed asparagus which was the right veggies to bring the meal together. They have a ton of great sauces, I personally am in love with the aioli. After watching a video on social media I saw some people say their mac is good. It was! It's creamy, luscious and they don't skimp on the cheese. Here's what stopped it from the 5 stars. The delivery fees are absurd as an avid takeout person - i use all the major platforms and the cost of my food vs the final price was a 29 dollar difference. That's crazy. My friends and are were THRILLED to hear that brunch is now an option here. This place has been on a wishlist for awhile now, but we don't live in the area and thus found it difficult to get there for dinner. We went for brunch on a Sunday during peak brunch hours and were nervous since reservations aren't an option, but our group of 7 was able to sit fairly quickly and easily. EVERYTHING on the menu sounds good, and even our pickiest group eaters found a few options they were excited about. We all ordered different things and ended up sharing with one another -- EVERY entree was delicious. All of the meats were fresh and amazingly seasoned, my waffle and side slaw were absolutely delicious, and the flavors in the bowls and side options were refreshing and delicious. We all wanted to order another entree after finishing our first one! Staff was kind, open and friendly! And the overall atmosphere was lovely. My only complaint is that it was incredibly hot and stuffy, especially since there was no AC. The front of the restaurant is completely open, so air does get in. Unfortunately there was no breeze and the humidity was high, so we were sweaty and a bit uncomfortable. The water was room temp as well, so it didn't provide much of a reprieve.
