Mixed review. I had the Midwood Burger and it was good. My friend had the Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich which he said was somewhat dry. BTW, my friend seldom complains about food. His came with a mound of mixed greens which he liked. Mine came with a small mountain of chips that were a bit oily and not warm. The food took a long time to arrive. Food: The food is delicious here. We ordered the buffalo wings and the catfish tacos and both were amazing. I would highly recommend both dishes. The buffalo wings are on the spicier side so if you can't handle too much spice, you might want to skip this one. The catfish tacos were excellent. It comes with three tacos, each with a fried piece of catfish, sauce, cabbage slaw, and a slice of avocado. Service: Service was excellent. Our server constantly came back throughout the meal to see if we needed anything and cleared our empty dishes. Ambiance: This place isn't big, but they have booths that fit four to six people, a bar, and two smaller tables in the back. The place is dark and not too loud so it's perfect if you're looking for a quiet place to hang out. It is not ideal for large parties though because of their setup. Visited this restaurant after our Ultra Marathon race on a Sunday afternoon. We had a party of 7 with 2 dogs and they let us sit at the bar area in the entrance. They had a large variety of draft beers which I was excited about and they were all normally priced between $8-10$. My spouse and I went for brunch on Mother's Day. The bar is cozy with a quiet hum. They play an eclectic mix of music from old 70s to current day. I had two eggs over easy with bacon, herbed potatoes, and side salad. My spouse had a burger with house made chips. I had a chai old fashioned that was quite good. Solid spot for Comfort food at its best right by the Brooklyn botanical gardens. We all got their midwood burger for post race eats after the Brooklyn half marathon. Our burgers were served as we ordered ( medium and medium well) , it was hefty and the chips ($2 additional ) was generous in portion if not on the slightly oily, not as crisp side. Amazing experience! They're super dog friendly and I just moved in the neighborhood and got hungry and needed a drink from a very stressful move and this place had me recharged immediately! I absolutely cannot believe the service here it's spectacular. Like super friendly waiter but like he talks to everyone so if you need your check you might want to spark up a new interesting convo or you may never want to get your bill. We ordered the cheeseburger sliders and a panini with side of chips and it was basic but fulfilling, the drinks were actually really tasty for just being around $12 for a normal cocktail. The planet of the apricots is by far the superior drink. I honestly would come again in a heartbeat and now that I live nearby I can consider this one of my new go to spots! read more

Spent about forty minutes at Midwood Flats spring 2023. I thought I was going for one drink, however I happily stayed much longer than planned. The ambience is super cozy with nice mood lighting but this isn't what this review is about. I requested French fries. The staff member who was having a bite at the time showed me her nachos and said that was all they had as the kitchen was about to close. (late night). I agreed to it thinking I was getting just the potato chips. I was taken aback when she served a loaded bowl of nachos exactly like hers. Trying to be polite I thought, I'll take a few bites before I put it aside. I Ate The Entire Bowl! It was delicious! I wasn't hungry but it's like the P R I N G L E S ad says, once I popped I couldn't stop. Neighborhood place with great R&B music and a lively crowd. Super causal spot that seems to be popular amongst locals. They have a nice selection of draft beers and I scored a summer ale, right before the season closed!!! The food was good bar food. Flatbread is very thin and had a nice flavor. i love this place so much it's such a community spot. So easy to make friends or just have a simple conversation. The bartenders and so nice and personable it's such a breath of fresh air especially after a hard day. The prices are nice the happy hour is so reasonable and the food is so easy to munch on. Perfect for dates, hangouts and just decompression time. Music is always on point and they usually have a projector down with tasteful movies or shows playing. This used to be my go to spot in the neighborhood. Seems like they got new staff who just don't care about any kind of customer service. I've let a few instances go because I genuinely like some of the people who work there, but since I haven't seen them in a while and had this latest experience, I'm leaving a review. One of their new servers, (short, dyed blonde hair, tats) does not care about the job or the customers at all. After sitting at a table, she left me there for 10mins while she talked to her friend who was sitting at the bar. Then, she finally comes over to me, and since I had had enough time, I order my food and a beer at the same time. She walks away and puts the order in. I watched the bartender pour my beer and put it at the service station. And there it sat. It was mildly busy so I watched the server handle a couple tables and then figured she'd check the station and bring me my beer. Nope..just went back to chatting up her friend who btw, was sitting at the end of the bar which directly overlooks the service station. Then, the server turns, it's been over 5mins since I ordered, checks the room, sees there's nothing in front of me, and DOESN'T get the beer, but instead gets me a glass of water. I guess she noticed she forgot to do that at the start. I sat there for another 8mins watching my beer warm while she chatted with her friend and showed her something on her phone. Finally she brings me my beer and just as she puts it down, I see my food get put up for delivery and hear the cook ring the bell. She ignores it. I'm positive it was my food cause I could see it was what I ordered and I just watch her check another table then go back to her friend. It was nuts. Literally 12mins went by and she still hadn't brought it to me. Then I see her start to give her friend a back rub. It mostly on the shoulders area and it wasn't on skin but it was right where her friends hair touched her shoulders. I had no prob with her touching her friend if not for what I knew would happen next. After a few mins, she stops..they smile at each other and you guessed it, she walks over and picks up my plate and brings it to me. No hand washing, not even a brush off on her clothes..just straight from her friends shoulders to touching my plate. It was so gross. Also, by the time she brought me the plate, I had one gulp of beer left. She didn't ask if I needed anything else for me to even bring up another drink..she just threw the plate down and turned because her friend was leaving. After her friend left, I finished 3/4 of my food (wouldn't touch the part of the plate her dirty finger did) and pushed it away. My beer glass was empty and I was just sitting there. I wanted another beer but she never came by. 15mins went by and she just sat there, at the bar, on her phone. Never looked up. In fact it was the bartender who eventually came over to me (tall, short blonde hair, also with tats) and asked if I needed anything else. At this point I was beyond fed up so said I'd like the check. She tells the server and this woman comes over to me and has the gall to ask "just the one beer huh?". She was completely oblivious to her customers or general hygiene. I tipped less than 20% for the first time in my life (as a former bartender, I almost always leave 25%). I will probably give the place a chance again in a couple months but if I see that server there, I'm walking right out..quickly. I hope management figures out the issues and turns this back into the place I used to love to frequent. read more

Firstly the service is always on point! friendly host/hostess and very knowledgeable amount food items and drink A+. We were there this past Saturday and the hostess/waitress for the evening was great!!! Finally made it here for their food and a drink. To be honest, it was the relentless craving for spiked hot cider that got me out of the bed on a freezing cold Sunday afternoon to check them out. I'd been passing it by for years and never had the urgency to get there but I finally did and it was well worth it! I placed my order by phone for pick up. I got the Catfish BLT (without the B) and a hot cider. The kind gentleman on the phone told me that the hot cider would be made to order and recommended that I call back when I'm nearby so it could be ready by the time I get there. Could you ask for better customer service?! I did exactly as he suggested and when I got there, my sandwich was ready and the bartender told me to be careful with my first sip because it's piping hot even though I can't tell since she double-cupped the beverage. All around, I was super delighted with my first time experience at Midwood Flats. The catfish sandwich was on a lightly toasty bread with perfectly battered catfish. Loved the mayo (I'm obsessed with mayo). I merrily sipped my hot cider on the walk back to my apartment and finished the last sips alongside my sandwich. This was hard to decide. I started at three stars and it slowly dropped to one. The deciding factor was out of $37 worth of food (wings, potato chip nachos and sliders) I found one item palatable. I don't own a dog so one wing down and less than a handful of chips, you can guess where the uneaten portions went. I am assuming there is either a new chef, or someone other than the chef makes food before the chef comes in. I'm guessing new chef. These are not the same nachos I had last time I craved the potato chip nachos from Midwood Flats. They're not even in the same family as far as size, topping, cheese, construction, flavor. Nothing is the same. I found them gross. I have never had wings at Midwood Flats, though I waited months for it to open, so excited to see "whiskey bar" painted on the outside and went very, very, very regularly for the first year they were open. And then occasionally. These wings tasted like they were from last night. Again, gross. I'm sitting in my apartment sober as the day is long i.e nothing to soften the reality of how unappealing my delivery was today. Thankfully for Prime, and some deal, I only paid $45 all together for the order. I guess the good ole days are gone. Next time I have a craving I'll have to wip together my best try at amazingly delicious potato nachos. I promise you, a toddler with just a hint of culinary fondness could make better than what I just disposed of. I was excited and now I'm annoyed and almost $50 poorer. I was having a rough night, and ended up here. The server (George?) went completely out of his way to cheer me up. I also met some girls from the neighborhood who were welcoming and nice. Unexpected kindness - I truly appreciated it. Aside from that, the place had a nice vibe - kind of a neighborhood feel, but a bit more upscale than your usual pub. Midwood Flats has so much potential, but with the less-than-stellar service and limited menu, it always falls just short. There's not much to choose from on the menu, but the nachos are delicious and my partner is partial to the catfish sandwich. However, service is consistently disappointing. The servers aren't rude or anything, but they just don't seem to be... serving. It once took our server over 10 minutes to even come to our table after being seated. Another time, our server left after we ordered an appetizer and no one picked up our table (until we went to the bar to order food, of course). Still, the drinks are good, the food is yummy, and the atmosphere is nice. Just do some refresher courses with your staff and you'll be golden! read more

"ALL YOU CAN EAT BRUNCH " BEWARE. Ive been in the neighborhood for over 12 years, and I've been to this bar and eatery numerous times without any issues. The food was OK from the BRUNCH menu but PLEASE be aware that you're only allowed either a sandwich or one plate of food. I didn't eat that much .. I ate two runny eggs, a side of bacon (slightly under cooked) with avocado toast that I took home with me at the consent from the bartender... 2 mimosas. Bartender was nice enough to offer me a free mimosa to take home after I had two already. Not that I needed to get sloshed or anything. I wasn't paying attention over the final bill that he mentioned a little earlier because I couldn't really hear him as it was kinda getting crowded but I was trying to be nice as if I rogered what he told me. My fault ... so don't be like me. Make sure you know what you're getting and what you're paying for. I mean it's only 35 bucks for "all you can eat" ... and it's not about money as it seems to be more about nickel and diming via "all you can eat". In total, I was charged about 50 bucks. I'm not blaming the bartender as He seemed pretty nice by the time I did leave...however I could swear he rolled his eyes and sighed when I was leaving since he almost forgot to give me my take home. Not a big deal. But in the end when I found out I was being nickeled and dime d over 3 pieces of bacon and two eggs being charged in addition to $35 along with the last minute "attitude" from the bartender who didn't even look that presentable, it gave me a cringe feeling. I usually tip over 20% to 25%, I'm not gonna be that petty and maybe i'm being petty already in this comment. This is not even about the owner. I'm just letting my fellow community know to BE SURE to look at the brunch menu carefully. While I think their overall vibe best suits a casual classy drinks bar, like their business categories suggest, don't sleep on their food offerings. Their sandwiches came through on taste, satisfaction, and value. I had the Cajun Club: a catfish with bacon club sandwich. My co-diner had the Midwood Burger: a juicy cheeseburger. Both arrive on a plate heaping with mixed greens dressed in balsamic vinegar, plus a pickle. If you're starving, the plate might be a bit shy of filling you up, but it's a sizeable meal for the quality and price. The other interesting item they offer is a flight option in which you pick 3 whiskeys of your choosing and get a 1 oz. shot of each for half the price of the liquor straight. We paid $18 for three whiskeys that stickers between $9-$14 each. But clearly, it's a great way to try a few new whiskeys! read more
