I've been to Brooklyn Public House quite a few times and I've never been displeased. The service is always solid, the food is always tasty and correct, and overall it's a great spot. It's a cozy little spot and yet still pretty spacious. The menu is a mix of bar and pub food with daily specials. I highly recommend if you're in the Forte Greene area!

Wow - they are really doing * everything * right. Real old school pub vibes, excellent draught beer selection (traditional German pils AND Kolsch both on tap!), awesome music (old school soul / r&b / funk), & men's & women's Wimbledon tennis broadcast live from London. The food here is also off the hook - killing Caesar salad (w/ anchovies actually noticeable in the dressing), 5-star, top-tier buffalo wings, & amazing burger. They have both lunch & dinner menus, but everything on the dinner menu is available at lunch. Also - awesome salad selection. Oh! THEY ARE OPEN FOR LUNCH! As opposed to all the lame places, which now seems like 90% of all nyc pubs, that don't open for full service until 4pm - wack!!! Very friendly & courteous staff that are busting their butts covering both the bar & the restaurant area. Very clean inside. Gender neutral bathrooms. Almost all spots in NYC cld learn something from this place on how to make a homey, warm vibe & a room filled w happy customers. Def part of Best of Brooklyn.

Cozy Bar with good food and drink

The Brooklyn Public House is this dark, lovely Pub / Bar / Restaurant serving locals very good food, drink and sports. The bar was packed this Sunday morning as Barcelona was playing Madrid in a soccer match and everyone was rooting for their team. The diversity of this pub's clientele was extreme. This made "people watching" fun and exciting. As for the food: My son got their breakfast burrito which he woofed down after a six mile run. I got their Chicken Club sandwich coming with a salad. Not only was the atmosphere contagious, my sandwich was very good. I love going to neighborhood spots like this. Not only is it a meeting place for fellow Brooklynites, but it's also a great spot for a libation and meal. I had a ton of fun here!

Great environment. Loud and friendly. Pub food. But good pub food. Shepard pie is good. Have had a few times. This week got the French onion soup. Very warm and yummy. Stayed for more drinks so got the curry fries. Fiend gets the curry chicken almost every time so she loves that. Adding that the Shepard pie is good too

Brooklyn Public House - Fort Greene, BK When you see the green, white, and orange flying out front, you're not at a burger joint. You're in the hands of a proper Irish pub. This is not where you chase down American bar food and hope for the best. It's where you trust the classics and get rewarded. I came for the bangers and mash and walked away convinced I'd made one of the best dining decisions in Brooklyn this month. The sausages are clearly sourced from Myers of Keswick, one of Manhattan's last true English-imported butchers. If you know, you know. That unmistakable snap, the rich but balanced seasoning, the texture... it's the real deal. No filler. No shortcuts. Just quality. The mashed potatoes? Creamy and perfectly portioned, not too milky, not overly whipped, just a rustic, comforting base. The gravy brings it all together, light and elegant, not heavy or overpowering, allowing the flavors to meld in harmony. It's the kind of plate where every bite is better than the last because together, these ingredients don't just work, they elevate. And look, I saw the mixed reviews about burgers and fries. But let me be clear: I didn't come for that. I came for what they do best. When a pub like this offers a national dish done this well, you skip the usual suspects and trust the flag. The hot toddy was no slouch either, bright, warm, citrusy, with just enough kick. I ordered it with double whiskey, and my server playfully warned it might be too strong for me. It wasn't. It was absolutely fine. I don't know if that's just my whiskey tolerance talking, or if people these days are just a little soft. Either way, no regrets. Now let me talk about Celine, my server and probably yours too, if you're lucky. Fast, kind, attentive without hovering. She got water for my dogs before I even asked, checked in without pressure, and made me feel like I was on someone's back patio, not a bustling Brooklyn sidewalk. And yes, dog-friendly. Genuinely so. The staff love dogs, and the dogs love being here. That counts. (And if you need proof of that butcher-quality sausage? Scroll through -- I posted the cross-section. It's beautiful.) What to order: Bangers & Mash Drink pairing: Hot Toddy (go for the double) Dog-Friendly Rating: 11/10 Star of the show: Flavor synergy. Each part's great -- but together? Transcendent. Bottom line: This is a five-star pub experience. Skip the noise. Order the soul. I already know what I'm having when I come back and I won't need the menu to do it.

Classic bar with great drinks and kind service. Sat outside w friends on a cooler summer night and had such a nice time. I was really pleasantly surprised by how much i liked their cocktail - i got a cucumber gimlet (?), very nice and refreshing.

Stopped here for lunch during Christmas and New Year's. It was really busy but we were able to find 2 seats at the bar. There was only one member of staff working but she did a great job of serving so many people. We ordered the fish and chips, chicken club and a side of curry sauce. The food was delivered pretty quickly and everything tasted good. The curry sauce was slightly sweeter/fruitier than we are used to but it wasn't a bad version of UK curry sauce. There were a couple of football (soccer) games on and the bar was really buzzing on a Monday afternoon. A really fun spot to watch some sport and have some good pub food. We live locally and will definitely visit again.

5/5 if we are judging on a pub-style vibe all around. Prompt service, friendly vibe, good food, all at a great price. We ordered a cheeseburger with salad and fish n chips. Both dishes were delicious. Fish was brought out with malt vinegar. They know how to please my British heart! They have happy hour menus starting round 3pm. Nice to sit outside and people watch. Inside is dark yet cheery. Will return!

I really enjoyed the mussels and delicious fries. I'm particularly fussy about fries and these were perfect! I usually get bored of them after 2 or 3. And they had their own dipping sauce. The mussels also came with bread. Margarita was good too. Sat at my own at the bar. Very comfortable.

This place is just fine. The service is ok, the food is served hot but is a bit bland. Nothing really great but nothing bad.

Brooklyn Public House is a terrific neighborhood pub. I love popping in here to get a quick drink or ordering food to go. Sometimes I'd even work from here early in the day if it's rainy out and my favorite cafe seats are taken. My favorite dishes are their salads. You can add a protein to it and the portions are very hearty :). Honorable mention to their steak-cut fries, chef's kiss. I like most of their cocktails but their summertime frozen Pink Flamingo and the Side Hustle have my heart. No matter the bartender, I've never had a bad glass of either drink. I love having Brooklyn Public House as a local food option and happily recommend them whenever people are in the mood for great pub food and drinks.

Spot near the window to soak up the sun
    TJ J.

Decided to go here for after church brunch because the spot across the street wasn't "brunchin" the way brunch should on a Sunday! Arrived just in time to grab a table by the window and order before brunch ended in 15 minutes. Happy to have grabbed a spot by the window because this spot looked pretty dark, especially in the back. It definitely is giving a bar that serves food... Speaking of the food; French toast with the yogurt and strawberries was EVERYTHING! The egg dishes were meh, my omelette tasted just ok, seemed like they use powdered egg and the side salad had big chunks of the part that should have been thrown away and the cucumber had peels still on some of them. Overall, service was good and so was the hot coffee. Def want to try the lunch/dinner menu as this place has potential.

    They have an A again!
    Lisette T.

They have an A rating again! We come here alot and are glad to be confidently eating their food again. Everything is so delicious (love their corned beef hash on the brunch) with a great bottomless brunch ($22 plus an entree, all of which are $10-19) and weekday HH 3-7pm. They also have late night food deals from 11pm to 12/1am depending on the day. We also love coming here for soccer games. They'll open early for special games or tournament, like today they opened at 9am instead of 10am for the Eurocup. Quick note that even if they open early, kitchen still opens at the normal 10am.

The Caesar & buffalo wings are pretty much my metric for all Irish pubs. McMahon's would def be in the upper 50th percentile. There are a bunch of negative reviews for this spot on here for when they are very busy, on Barclays Center game nights and / or weekends. I feel like, if you read between the lines, it's people coming in groups when it's busy acting entitled. The staff at lunch has been nothing but courteous, w/ excellent service. I'm Dominican so I know oxtail pretty well and have made it myself. Thankfully, this place absolutely delivered. The oxtail was perfectly slow-braised, tender, and falling right off the bone -- exactly how it should be. Absolutely amazing. Of course I had the rice and peas, plus some veggies. A few of the veggies were slightly overcooked, but still flavorful and enjoyable. The drinks looked incredible, but I went with the rum punch and loved it. It was a little sweet, but super flavorful, strong, and definitely worth ordering again. For dessert, I had the Hennessy cheesecake, which was rich, decadent, and unbelievably delicious. There were three of us dining, and we all left completely satisfied -- with take-home containers because the portions are VERY generous. The only thing that bothered me a bit was that our server seemed to focus most of her attention on my friend. She is Jamaican, and because I look like a white American woman, I felt a little overlooked at times, even when I had several requests myself. We also had to look for her a couple of times while she was sitting with a group nearby. That said, everyone overall was very nice and welcoming. The bussers especially stood out -- they checked on us often, kept everything clean, and even greeted me in Spanish, which I appreciated. Hubby had the iconic Jerk Oxtail over Macaroni & Cheese Pie! The English language cannot convey the beauty of that combination! Tender, tender oxtail, falling off the bone with the creamy, cheesy mac & cheese! He wanted to savor that dish another day, so he got a to-go bag and took it back to the hotel! The atmosphere was just perfect ! Great vibes and wonderful…read moreservice too. We had delicious appetizers including the wings that were outstanding plus the beer coated fries, out of this world ! The angus beef burgers were of the most delicious on a brioche roll and we could barely pick it up as it was real packed and heavy!! The pool tables were completely renovated and we had a real amazing experience including playing ping pong on their tournament table. The drinks were very well prepared and fabulous especially the "Incredible Hulk" a must try when you visit. We will certainly be back for more soon :)
