Was here for Saint Patrick's Day and it was bumping! Energy was at an all time high! It was a bit chaotic but found a seat in like 10 minutes. The venue is pretty spacious they have a back dining area, a big bar when you enter and a full bar upstairs. There's a ton of televisions if you are watching sports as well. They have a pretty deep beer menu which I loved. The food menu is Irish influenced bar bites. We had the wings which were nice and crispy. The center of attention was the waffle fries nachos. You can't go wrong with a potato vehicle to fresh toppings. All and all great fun spot for sports and gatherings. Also this is a melting pot. Various ages, groups, backgrounds, saw a few families. All are welcome. One flaw is St. Patty it appeared that our waiter who was superb was the only one working so it was a bit of chase to close out. read more

Solid Irish pub....i have only been here at lunch (I don't go out at night much if I'm not blowing trumpet at a gig or rehearsal). In general, I like the mellow / peaceful vibes of outer borough NYC Irish pubs at lunchtime. McMahon's did not disappoint. Solid buffalo chicken wings & good burger. I am also post fries (I will try one or two of yours, but I don't need an order of fries for myself.), so can't comment on the fries. They also make a mean Caesar salad. The Caesar & buffalo wings are pretty much my metric for all Irish pubs. McMahon's would def be in the upper 50th percentile. There are a bunch of negative reviews for this spot on here for when they are very busy, on Barclays Center game nights and / or weekends. I feel like, if you read between the lines, it's people coming in groups when it's busy acting entitled. The staff at lunch has been nothing but courteous, w/ excellent service. We stopped in on a whim and this place did not disappoint! Staff were friendly and very funny to talk with! We always tend to gravitate toward Irish bars when we visit the city and it rains. Comfort food is always a must on a rainy day in the city. We split a chicken Cesar spinach wrap and the famous Irish nachos. Both were phenomenal, the nachos had a bit of a kick to them. The roast beef with the au jus tasted great but the fries were just alright. I also thought the beer on tap were on the more expensive side. Went pre concert at Barclays. Staff was attentive and tried to find me a seat. Beer came out immediately. Kitchen was crazy busy and still managed to get me a med well burger to me fairly quickly. They forgot the cheese but small in grand scheme. I could sub salad for fries and that more than made up for that. Burger was cooked exactly how I needed it. Went there with about three friends last week. Service was great until we met Cory, the bartender. So we were having drinks and Cory decides to run our bill, not informing us. Meanwhile we are still at the bar drinking. My friends card declined due to banks making sure it's not fraudulent activity. Cory then has an attitude, my friend cakks his bank and everything is fixed, so charge went through. So I ask Cory for another drink after that, he says "I don't want to serve you anymore, because I SEE NO CASH TIP on the table". I said "excuse me, you work in a social establishment and that's extremely unprofessional ". Obviously we were still drinking and was going to leave him a tip. He had an attitude towards us which we were the only black people in the establishment. Mind you he is black as well. He needs to be retrained or released from his position. Wanted to watch the Knicks and the Nets this past Wednesday and this was the perfect place for that. With big tv screens, live band, and so many beer options two thumbs up. Very spacious long bar, back area for dining and an upstairs, very good for big groups, company outings, and a hot fun day. I had the Irish egg rolls, chipotle bbq wings, and a Cesar salad, there was a little wait for my food but the bartender compensated by providing an extra set of drinks on the house very well appreciated. The Irish spring rolls were definitely a hit, and the chipotle bbq sauce on the wings was something like no other for my drink I had the octoberfest and a cranberry and vodka well made. This is a solid pub in the area. It's just off Atlantic Ave, near the Barclays center. The inside is very spacious and it seems great for groups. When we walked in, they weren't playing the premier league game, but they happily put it on when we asked. The service was very attentive and consistently checked up on us, even when the bar started getting pretty busy. We ordered the wings and they were so delicious. They were so juicy and covered in sauce. I usually don't like wings and wouldn't order them, but these changed my mind. For drinks, I got a cider and it was as expected. My partner got an ale, which apparently tasted stale and as if they didn't clean the pipes. He tried a few other beers and said the same. I couldn't really taste the difference, but something to keep in mind if you're very familiar with beer. I'd keep this place in mind if you need a sports bar in the area! read more

They have a large bar and food menu and the atmosphere is a sports bar/Irish pup vibe. I'm giving this experience 4 stars because of our waitress. She was obviously new, however, she got my entire order wrong and didn't notice. I didn't say anything because the food she brought me looked great. Me and a couple college buddies came to NYC for the weekend. Just before seeing the nets game we decided to grab a bite to eat. This place had good reviews and was just a quick walk on over. When we arrived everything was great. The atmosphere was awesome, people seemed to be enjoying themselves, and there were lots of t.v.'s for sunday night's football game. I got the fish and chips. It was really delicious; so was the fries that I got. The thing that fell a little short was the service and the cost. The cost of the fish and chips was $16, which maybe is a normal price considering the location, but was a little more than what I get in Seattle. As we were getting ready to leave and saw the receipt, we saw that there was a "non-cash adjustment fee" of something around $2.60 for each of us (we split the check). We hadn't been informed of this so this was surprising. In addition our server asked to collect our checks while we were still writing the tip. Maybe I'm naive but I've never had a waiter/server collect our checks while we were still at the table, normally after we leave. Maybe our experience was an anomaly so please check it out for yourself. Again, the food was delicious and is a nice place to grab a bite especially if you're going to watch an event at Barclay's Center. Just be aware of the etiquette of things in the end. read more

Came here kinda pre-game a bit before the Nets played at the Barclays a block away recommended by our scalper. The place was packed and is an obvious hanging spot for Nets and Islanders fans but even Knicks fan as well. Besides the sports bar motif before the Barclays came to town it's a good ol' Irish bar in styling and presumably it's namesake. The waitresses were friendly enough and its a decent size to accomodate the crowds that likely frequent here before an event. What I liked was the menu - featuring what you'd expect at an Irish spot like corned beef and Irish nachos but on the menu I got it just said at the bottom "burger". It was just trust bt it real good, so if their "burger" is that good, than I have high hopes for their special burgers on my next visit here. Stop by if you need to kill time before an event. read more

The staff were all wearing masks and social distancing was enforced. I couldn't decide what to order so I ended up getting the sampler which came with the Buffalo wings, chicken fingers and potato bites (you can choose three from a menu). Everything was so delicious! I ate everything on the plate. I also had a margarita which was good. The staff member who seated us and our waitress were both great! I thought if it sounded like a duck, it looked like a duck....it'd be a duck, no? This place looked the part, but the Brooklyn mid day Saturday sun can produce illusions. I walked in asking if the Knicks playoff game was on (after noticing soccer and commercials on the screens). The waiter gave me nothing but attitude about it being a sports bar. It was a simple question. Figured it was fatigue from having the place half empty. No fans in the back of the place made it abit uncomfortable. But what made it more so was the staff almost arguing among themselves (quietly somewhat). They seemed to be all on different pages. When another customer asked to change the channel to soccer (only 1 screen had soccer the patron wanted another), he caught the attitude of the staff as well. I'd say avoid this bar unless you already come in tipsy enough not to care about the service. read more
