If you're looking for a place that combines great food, refreshing cocktails, and a laid-back vibe, Evalyn's Tap House is a must-visit. What we tried: Blistered Shishito Peppers : Lightly charred and seasoned with parmesan and sea salt. 10/10 Butler's Pantry Burger: A classic done right. Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and melted cheese, and caramelized onions. Turkey Wrap: Topped with flavorful fresh feta, served alongside a side of crispy chips. Wild Rice Bowl: A nourishing blend of smoked chicken, sweet potato, baby spinach, celery root, red cabbage, dried currants, walnuts, and a spiced yogurt dressing. We highly recommend it, and we can't wait to come back with friends to explore the menu further!!

It's a rainy night out and I've just come from the gym in Manhattan. Where can I go to get a great meal ? Ah yes I'm going to scoot over to that perogie place in Gowanus. But oh no it's gone!! The victim of a booming economy!!! Ugh So wait. There's Evalyn's! I love that place and haven't been there in months....long story. I walk in and there's Jordan, who comes from behind the bar, to give me a big hug. He asks where I've been and I explain some health issues I've had. He sympathizes with me. We decide on the Butler's Pantry Burger, With American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and caramelized onions. Also the flash-fried Brussels sprouts. Because I'm starving I get their popular pretzel to start!! The food comes quickly and everything is delicious. The fries are crispy just right. The pretzel fresh and soft. Perfect. The burger is especially delicious. Done medium just right. It comes with a pretzel bun which I've never seen in any other place Jordan also brings me horse radish! He remembered. Love this place

got a beer flight which was fun and the currywurst and shishito peppers. draft beer was great and fun though slightly disappointed they were out of 2 or 3 selections on tap. greatly enjoyed the currywurst which had an interesting flavor but shishito peppers were just ok. the service was great and super attentive and theres an inner ring of bartop seating with booths on the edge. chill place to hang out or host an event.

3.75. My buddy and I came here for Seinfeld trivia. It was first time here and the space was relatively large. They have ample outdoor seating, bar seating and a few other tables. Since trivia takes awhile, we wanted to get a few things to snack on, but the menu is fairly limited. I opted for a warm pretzel and he went with truffle fries. The staff was friendly and attentive. We came in second place-- since the first place winners passed on the winning prize, we got the beers! Sadly, a few of the beers on the list weren't even available. Overall, trivia was great, the bar was very large, but the limitations with the menu make it hard for me to return for anything other than trivia.

4.5 stars. Simplistic modern and chic . One of the best restaurant week deals this year. For $30 you get a three course dinner. Double dip by coming the hours between 4-7 pm for happy hour beers at $6. We ordered shrimp and beet salmon for appetizers and they were delicious. The delicious beet salmon was my favorite as the potato pancakes on the bottom was cooked to perfection. For entrees curry bratwurst and beer bined brisket. The portion size is generous for its restaurant deal. The brisket was not too flavorful so I would skip it next time. Dessert was only two options - chocolate cake and rice pudding. Skip the cake and go for the rice pudding. Service was quick, love the outdoor seating area. Inside was nice as well but the AC was blasting like crazy so it was a bit uncomfortable and we opted for outside.

Just discovered this modern tap house which offers a delectable Northern European menu, an extensive list beers and cocktails. We had the hanger steak and the house burger. They were so juicy and cooked to perfection! Appetizers were tasty as well. The restaurant is spacious, perfect for everything from casual dining to big events! Definitely a great place to hang out!

Good beer selection and comfort food. The room is large and well spaced. In addition to a well curated beer selection, the cocktails are above average. The menu has an European influence. We enjoyed the Spaetzle and Taphouse Burger. The service was adequate.

Went for a friend's birthday brunch. We had folks pop in and out at their leisure but were treated with great respect regardless of if they ordered a whole meal or just drinks. Special shout-out to Jordan. He was a wonderful waiter. They had screens for games which made my husband happy. Would love to return!

We've been here many times now. Tried out something new tonight, the Restaurant Week 3-course $30 menu. Got the Aquavit Shrimp to start, Beer brined brisket for the entree and chocolate olive oil cake for dessert. We ate all but the dessert (as we were too full), which we'll enjoy at home later tonight. Both courses we ate were ample and delicious. UPDATE: Ate the chocolate cake at home -- sooo good! The entire meal was a Home Run! The main downside of this place for me remains the same: There's no sound absorption, so it gets really noisy if there's a boisterous table or two. Tonight, there was a table with a bunch of kids and the adults weren't doing anything to manage the decibels generated by their charges. The waitress couldn't even hear us order. Perhaps adding cloth cushions to the seats and backs of the booths would be a good start. Could also do some floating panels near the ceiling (black fabric to blend in)...any sound absorption would help. This suggestion is personal, so maybe others won't agree, but it bugs me that there is no sparkling wine option on their wine list. I mentioned this in an earlier review. Those of us who don't like beer would like a cava or Prosecco option in the summer. It would be particularly nice to have a nice dry, non-dosage (no sugar added at the end of the fermentation process) option and there's a great reasonably priced one called Sauvage that would be perfect if it's available to them. And with that sparkling wine, I would love to have moules frîtes, so would be excited if they added that seafood menu to the option. Easy to cook, healthy and delicious! I also think it's a miss -- in terms of revenue generation for them -- that they have a full bar but no cocktail list. Since their focus is beer, I don't think people (especially those who've only sat in the outdoor area; we often do, but it was too hot tonight) necessarily even know that they offer cocktails. They're near the Gowanus in an up-and-coming pocket of the neighborhood...they should dream up a few new, fun crave-worthy signature cocktails and note on the menu that people are also welcome to order classics. ***WAIT!! Directly after I typed that part, we heard someone at the bar shaking a cocktail and he informed us that THEY DO HAVE A COCKTAIL LIST COMING out in the next couple of weeks! He seemed super knowledgeable, so we are looking forward to coming back to sample his creations. Bottom line: We love having this place nearby, a solid addition to the neighborhood drinking and dining scene. Our standard go-to, the Taphouse Burger -- soft pretzel roll, thick bacon, Lafrieda blend burger, onions -- can't be beat and the crispy fries are excellent too. It's also great having a Happy Hour option all the evenings it's open.

It's kind of like a gastropub desert in Gowanus. So I was happy to see this place pop up. I hope it lasts. Great food. Lots of young hipsters from the climbing gyms nearby. 3. TVs to watch sports on. But lots of sound reverberations due to the rigid inside layout. The service was okay but they're probably still working at the kinks. Otherwise I would have given five stars. Great date spot or meetup point.

3.5 to be exact Their restaurant week menu looked really good that we decided to give a try. Both appetizers were a bit salty to my liking. The beet cured salmon with potato pancakes was an interesting combo though. Beer brined brisket needs a tad more seasoning. However, the chocolate olive oil cake was the bomb. I would go back just for that lol

BierWax is a craft beer and vinyl record listening bar that opened in Brooklyn, New York in 2017…read more It was founded by DJ and record collector Chris Maestro. Born in Queens to a Guyanese father and a Dominican mother, Maestro grew up in Flushing, Queens with a fervent love for hip-hop. He started DJing in his early 20s and has collected records obsessively ever since, particularly in genres that gave rise to hip-hop: funk, soul and jazz. He was bitten by the craft beer bug during a trip to Hong Kong in 2005, and his search for new brews led him to craft beer festivals and brewery tours. Early on, Maestro noticed that there weren't a lot of people of color at craft breweries or craft beer bars. He longed to open his own space where people like him could feel right at home and discover new beer in the process. In addition to BierWax's finely curated tap list, the bar is also home to over 5,000 vinyl records. The bar frequently hosts guest DJs as well. BierWax has a strict "No Requests Please" policy--not because of "High Fidelity"-style snobbery, but because there are just too many records to manage. If every customer made a request, the bar would need a dedicated team just to comb through the stacks. And then who would pour the beer? I visited BierWax this past summer while I was cycling around NYC. I was trying out a number of Brooklyn and Queens breweries and pizzerias and this was my second stop of the day. Craft beer and vinyl are two of my favorite loves, so I felt right at home here. Not only was I impressed by the craft beer selection but also the enormous amount of vinyl records adorning the shelves on the wall. There was a great playlist going during my visit and the bartender on duty was a really cool guy who engaged in some great conversation with me. I enjoyed pours of The Seed's "As Simple As Renewal?" (Kellerbier) and The Drowned Lands' "Summer Terra" (Double New England IPA). Both of them were fantastic! Although craft beer bars that feature vinyl are becoming more common now, BierWax is a place that is truly special. I highly recommend this bar to craft beer and/or vinyl aficionados and I really hope to return!

However, I'm almost finished with my lunch and answer no thanks, only for the employee to say in a huff, "Well, next time you should buy something if you want to use our seating." While I understand that as your business, you have the right to do this, it really just comes off as rude and condescending, turning what would've been a nonexistent interaction into a negative one that has completely soured my attitude toward this establishment. Considering that this establishment had roughly a dozen tables and 24 seats with only 4 seats or so occupied when I was around and I wasn't interfering with business on a slow afternoon, there shouldn't have been a problem with simply letting bygones be bygones. If this is what New Yorkers consider hospitality and acceptable behavior, no wonder people from most other states consider the population to be rude.
