The food here is spectacular. The best way to describe it is gourmet fast dining. Think about a fancier version of Boston Market. I went with the dinner special of Roasted Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and the house veggies. A quarter Chicken is plentiful for a portion. It's moist and loaded with flavor. It has this jus that i poured over the mash. Complemented the chicken perfectly. The house veggies that day were sautéed asparagus which was the right veggies to bring the meal together. They have a ton of great sauces, I personally am in love with the aioli. After watching a video on social media I saw some people say their mac is good. It was! It's creamy, luscious and they don't skimp on the cheese. Here's what stopped it from the 5 stars. The delivery fees are absurd as an avid takeout person - i use all the major platforms and the cost of my food vs the final price was a 29 dollar difference. That's crazy. I feel like I payed way too much for a salad, but atleast it was a good salad. The ginger juice really punches you in the throat. It's super spicy and fragrant--if you're a ginger lover it's perfect. Idk what took me so long. Its full of communal tables, diverse art, and diverse people. The staff is hella diverse and super chill. You can tell they enjoy working there. The music is def my style lots of afro and future beats, neo soul, r&b some hip hop. Its just good stuff. There is a small bar that actually pretty short height wise. Im 6'6 and it sits below my waist. You might as well sit at a table. The drinks however are head and shoulders above much of the neighboring establishments. Their food is homey. All the meats are rotisserie roast on the spot. They offer a nice collection of sides similar to what you would see at Dig Inn. They also over changing chef specials like market fish and tacos. The price is somewhere between casual and restaurant dining. Expect to spend $15-25 (without drinks). You also have to pick up and toss out your own food. My friends and are were THRILLED to hear that brunch is now an option here. This place has been on a wishlist for awhile now, but we don't live in the area and thus found it difficult to get there for dinner. We went for brunch on a Sunday during peak brunch hours and were nervous since reservations aren't an option, but our group of 7 was able to sit fairly quickly and easily. EVERYTHING on the menu sounds good, and even our pickiest group eaters found a few options they were excited about. We all ordered different things and ended up sharing with one another -- EVERY entree was delicious. All of the meats were fresh and amazingly seasoned, my waffle and side slaw were absolutely delicious, and the flavors in the bowls and side options were refreshing and delicious. We all wanted to order another entree after finishing our first one! Staff was kind, open and friendly! And the overall atmosphere was lovely. My only complaint is that it was incredibly hot and stuffy, especially since there was no AC. The front of the restaurant is completely open, so air does get in. Unfortunately there was no breeze and the humidity was high, so we were sweaty and a bit uncomfortable. The water was room temp as well, so it didn't provide much of a reprieve. It'd be great to have an option for cold and/or ice water. I absolutely recommend this place, and I hope to return soon to try the dinner options (which also all look incredible)! read more

Despite being a reoccurring patron of Risbo I am flummoxed by the service that was provided during my last visit. My partner and I decided to visit Risbo for a celebration and were faced with an unusual experience from what was our norm. We waited quite some time for our cocktails after about 15 minutes I was told my cocktail would not be able to made. Despite ordering different drink I was met by the bartender about 5 minutes later who just poured wine into a cup for me and walked away. Several patrons started forming a lining behind me and kept shoving and trying to move my chair as they were becoming agitated by waiting on line for bar. The food was outstanding as always, but the bar experience was horrible and as we were eating their was a homeless woman begging for money or for us to buy her food while placing her hands on me as well and in front of our faces while eating. Once again, I understand that restaurants get busy but this was a very bizarre and by far the most unusual experience that I've faced while dining here let alone any Michelin restaurant in this city. I spoke with the owner on several occasions and was told we would be receiving a refund to the account but unfortunately that did not occur so here I am leaving said review. read more

Inside the seating is shared, very casual, but the outdoor patio is beautiful. Highly recommend this spot for groups. Terrible food and service experience. Ordered 2 duck main courses. One was fine, but the other was all fat and bones, barely 2 bites of meat. We showed the server to be told there's a strict "no refunds or exchanges" policy (strange for that to be a restaurant's immediate response - perhaps a sign of high number of complaints?). They were firm in their position and barely prepared to even have a conversation about it or inspect the dish. Also 1 of 2 glasses of wine was cloudy "because it was organic", but the same wine from a fresh bottle was transparent, so it was really just off. Fun spot with great food and plenty of options. I was in the neighborhood one Sunday and needed dinner--Risbo called to me and I answered. The set up is pretty simple: you order at the counter and seat yourself, either inside or out. The backyard was packed when I visited (good for them!) so I sat inside. I had the Risbo Platter to try a bit of everything and got the chicken. The platter is plenty of food for one person, and I even ended up taking some home! Chicken was kicking, no notes; also ate up the humus and spicy cabbage salad. There is a separate bar that you can grab a drink from. The bartender was very friendly, and after I finished my meal I relocated from the shared tables to a spot at the bar for another glass of wine. Risbo is a neighborhood gem! If you're looking for a laid back atmosphere you've come to the right place. The menu is simple but full of delicious variety. Healthy warm grain bowls with veggies, flavorful rotisserie chicken, sweet plantains, potato au gratin, fish, and many others. When you walk inside you'll notice the interior. White walls, plants everywhere, and an attractive crowd. Large paintings on the wall reflecting life on the outside, alongside life on the inside. I usually find a seat at the bar. I like to meet people. Lol. They have some really great cocktails but you can concoct your own drink with a mix of spirits with their homemade juices. The owner is awesome. Extremely friendly, you'll probably see him running around. I've always had a great time here around great people. It's relaxed and welcoming. I really like the overall atmosphere of Risbo. It gives a hip vibe and is aesthetically pleasing. I walk by this place everyday, so I finally decided to give it a try. All of their roasted meats look and taste delicious! I decided to not get the $21 bowl because I don't eat half the sides that come with it. Instead I opted for the roasted beef and side of mac and cheese. When I received my food I was so taken aback about how small the portion sizes were. I mean for $16, you would think you'd get a decent amount of food, but that's not the case here. The mac and cheese was a disappointing. It was cold and didn't have any standout flavors. The beef on the other hand was really good! However, the portion size was too small in my opinion. Would I come back? Maybe -- I'm interested in trying some of their other meat dishes, but it will have to be on a day where I'm willing to splurge a little. read more

OMG can I just say I LOVE this place and the bartender, Sébastien is the best! The food is healthy and hearty and does not disappoint. My Uncle had the pork, duck, veggies and mashed potatoes. I had the shepherds pie and salad combo Andy my cousin had the healthy one(salad). The bissap juice is sooo good, if you like sorrel and ginger. We also had the ginger rum (?) I think that's the name so good I can't remember! The staff/cashier was very helpful in explaining everything and suggestion wise. The vibe is really low key. It was pretty packed on a Saturday night so we tried to sit outside (very cute lil outdoor area) but it was freezing even with their little heat lamps. Risbo has an a-la-carte selection of meats, veggies, and sides, including a rotation of specials which are always delicious. Chicken is delicious. Pork is delicious. Risbo Mac and cheese is the only Mac I will eat. The roasted greens/veggies make dinner guilt-free. The outdoor seating area is lovely in the summer, and they have recently added brunch on weekends (I daydream about the Shrimp and Grits, Chicken and Waffles).
