Great food, great vibes!!! I visited Risbo during a trip to Brooklyn and the customer service was outstanding, as was the food. There was an issue submitting our order (b/c technology isn't perfect lol) but that didn't ruin the experience. I got the taco of the day (1 chicken, 1 pork) and my sister ordered the rotisserie chicken, veggies and mac n' cheese. If you've got room for dessert, I also recommend the pear brûlée cheesecake. I'm glad to finally have eaten here. The Branzino was so good and flavorful.The fish came with hummus, roasted carrots, sweet plantains, rice pilaf, and cabbage. I wanted to try other meats so I ordered the quarter roasted chicken and lamb. The lamb was so juicy and fresh. the lamb was ok. It was missing something that I can't think of. The music was good. they played old school hip hop. They have a backyard which has an intimate garden vibe. I ordered two drinks the Watermelon Froze and the Pidgin. Meats reign supreme at this French chef hybrid with French/West Indian French/ Fusion accents. The room is large, exotic, tropical and generous just like the food. Ate: Chicken Lamb Beets Collards Aioli Total:$28 There is a one meat platter with two sides, for $20, but I went a la carte and got my second side of choice and an extra meat. When serving, Boris adds fresh cracked pepp. The meat is orgasmic, chicken falls off the bone and into my mouth with flavor. While the collards were good, the smoky beets, al dente, steals the show- reminds me of the smoked beets from Salt and Bone, but with more bite. The aioli was real aioli and amazing and will probably lead to heart attack, but oh so worth it. To call this fast casual is not accurate, cause the food is restaurant quality and more than tres tres bon- Chef Boris you rock! read more

I adore this space. I'd been patiently waiting for it last summer once the "New French" sign appeared out front amidst the early construction phase. Time somehow flew by and I didn't get to stop in until January. My first attempt, they were closed for a pop-up event which happened to be dope and I bought some hibiscus ginger tea. Decided to try my luck again last night to celebrate a successful program at work and I'm so glad I did. The cashier was sweet and personable. I ordered "The Healthy One" which is an assortment of veggies with choice of a grain. It was tasty and definitely gives the healthy feels. The purple cabbage is spicy, so keep that in mind. Also ordered the Pidgin, which is a smokey Mezcal with Passion Fruit and Lime-- very tasty! Tried the Boris as well, affectionately named after the owner, which is a fresh, potent, gingery rum cocktail. Speaking of, Boris came by and chatted and he is such a charm! The BBQ meats looked amazing, but I decided to go with a kale salad and a side of shepherd's pie, which were both awesome. The watermelon frosé was a great drink pair, too. The food staff and ambiance was great. Just went in September so it was sort of chilli for outdoor seating. A pit fire or warmer would be welcomed in the space. The seating was cushions which are comfy but may not be ideal for older patrons or people with physical issues. I had the jackfruit bowl which was the bowl of the day. I have wanted to try cooked jackfruit and it was delicious! Spicy and well seasoned. The hummus was light and flavourful. I would definitely revisit in the spring or summer. read more

I love coming to Risbo! It's one of my favorite places to meet up with loved ones. The atmosphere is warm and joyful. The staff is amazing and the food is hearty. I came in on a Friday night recently to have a warm beverage and dessert with a homeboy. The Apple cobbler wasn't fulfilling the sweet tooth craving I had and the bartender was kind enough to let me air my grievances to be shared with his colleagues at a later time. That didn't kill the mood though. My friend was enjoying his Black Gold Grenadian rum and I was in heaven drinking mulled wine for the first time! Just went to this place for take out as it's set up as buffet style behind the counter. Figured it would be a quick wait. However, they are very popular and a stream of people came in to pick up orders. Anyway, it took me 40 minutes to get my meal to go. What a cute place! My friend in Brooklyn brought me here an immensely I loved the vibe. I ordered the healthy bowl with lamb. Loved every part of it besides the lamb. I have a sensitive stomach and I was not a fan of the taste and my stomach didn't like it too much either. It honestly tasted different than any lamb I've had before. Everything else I had though was AMAZING! So tasty and fresh. Their definitely could have been more plantain in the food (my favorite). Love having this in the neighborhood. It's my flex whenever I have people visiting from out of town. Their food is delicious, the portions are big, and the backyard is a great space. I came here twice in one week! This place knows what they're doing! The flavors are phenomenal, food is well seasoned and pairs well with the sides provided. I would have never thought to eat my meal with rice, hummus, and pickled cabbage. You have to eat it all together, I promise you won't regret it. I had the Risbo Platter with lamb each time, and I wish I could eat it again as I'm writing this review. I went with others and they have had the tacos, whatever platter, and dessert and everything is amazing! Even dessert! We've had the apple cobbler, cheesecake, and cookie. Wow. This place is absolutely fabulous. The reason it claims the coveted 5 stars is the atmosphere, the food and the drinks being ON point. My friend and I ordered from here but decided to eat in at the end. The food was so tasty. I salivated just looking at the Mac and cheese. The kale salad was also one of the best in town. I'm not even a huge fan of kale so that's saying something. Ok, don't even get me started on the dessert. It was soooo smooth. We tried the apple crumble. The ice cream looked amazing but our stomachs were too stuffed for both. Yes, they are open late. They take they're last food orders at 11:30pm. They're drinks start at $10 and are the cocktail you pay for. Not sure if they have a happy hour but happy to come back if they do for that. Would recommend the mezcal based drink. It was Smokey enough without too much sugar to mask flavor. I was very impressed. Overall 5/5 stars! Can't wait to try this place again!! read more

I love you Risbo, but you're too expensive. Recent meal: a side of mac n' cheese in a paper bowl, a side of brussel sprouts in a paper bowl, a glass of white wine: $28. I asked the bartender for hot sauce and she said "well it's usually $1 extra" but relented after I said "I just paid $28 for this." If I go there with the hubby and we get two meals, two drinks, it's $60 incl tip for a dinner that we have to bus ourselves. Toooooo much. I wish you success, but you have to figure something else out with your pricing. read more

Just a good hang! Come here for some really flavorful food.... I had the vegetarian option in bowl form. Black beans, rice, sweet okra, pickled onions and cabbage, a plantain--how could you go wrong?? I also had a taste of the kale salad, which had the most incredibly tasting dressing I've ever experienced. The salad also has potatoes and some feta-like cheese, though I'm not sure it was feta. Had a small scoop of hazelnut coffee ice cream after which was delightful. I should also mention that there's a bar here with some fresh drinks // I had a ginger juice that zing-ed me up, if you get my drift. They pump up the jams here, and it just feels comfortable. There's an outside garden in the back if you wanna hang there. Looks like there are some delicious meat options, even though I don't eat them. Check it out. Prices are medium! Risbo is the best food I've had in 2021 and since the pandemic started. I've never been to a restaurant that seasoned every dish perfectly as you'll run into at least one over salted dish, but every meat and side dish was perfectly seasoned. It's Mediterranean cuisine, but with a unique flair on spices, herbs, and pickled vegetables that all come together to be the perfect flavor bomb. Everything is so flavorful and well cooked without being heavy and you almost feel that it's all pretty healthy as well. We booked a private event at Risbo and the owner was so kind and accommodating, pouring rounds of drinks for guests himself and recommending an amazing watermelon ale. The food was family style and all the guests could not stop raving about how they would come back for the vibe, service, and food. Not only are the vibes immaculate and inviting with the plants and garden, but the food....I can't stop thinking about the food. From the roasted chicken, lamb, kale salad, homemade pickles and pickled onions, roasted yams, DEVILED EGGS (I could eat those everyday), and the mac & cheese that was so unique (I think it was made with goat cheese? Some kind of cheese I wouldn't usually eat, but it was so delicious in this dish), you MUST try Risbo. It is such a hidden gem and I'm definitely going to go back. Tried again yesterday this time the attitude they gave my bf (when he couldn't locate the sides on the menu and was told "it's in your hands ", when he was asked if he wanted sauce on his meat and wasn't told it would be extra, when we were told they don't do plastic forks so we had no utensils to eat our food on the go in the car as we journeyed to the movie, when we were told they didn't take amex... when the food isn't cheap Nope. It's a beautiful space, I LOVE all the greenery and the simple menu. I ordered the Healthy Bowl and it was more than enough for one (I ate half and took the rest home). When I asked them to switch it for any other veg they had going, they refused. Chef said there are no substitutes! I can undestand a no sub policy up front, but not when a third of your $18 plate is inedible. If something is bad, any decent restaurant will refund it or replace it. Very disappointing. read more

This restaurant's food just makes you feel so good, like cozy and healthy- can't explain. We ordered out of here through Yelp and were so happy we did (especially for our first takeout order in Brooklyn.) We had half a chicken, okra as part of the sauteed veggies and a plate of the 'healthy one.' It had lots of grains, beans and greens which combined were really tasty and filling. It was just real comforting food. When we went to pick up the staff was very nice and also reminded us to order directly from their website so they don't have to pay fees. The duck is really tasty, juicy and worth the price because its a good size-able portion. We also tried the lamb and the chicken. Which was all good but the duck was my favorite. For the sides had the roast plantain - which I wouldn't totally recommend, felt like it was still raw and not cooked through and through. Its a first come first seating type of situation, they have an outdoor patio that has artsy and chill vibes and also indoor seating.
