French onion soup

Been wanting to try Le Crocodile for ages and finally managed to. The vibe and ambience is very pretty. Dark lighting and quite spacious. Lots of French classics on the menu, together with other dishes that are harder to come by in normal French joints in the city. The duck was amazing! Big chunk of duck breast cooked to absolute perfection. The chicken itself was also pretty good. Soup is a classic gem! And the salad with the eel was unique yet great. Overall, I loved Le Crocodile and would definitely come back (especially for that duck!). Service was fantastic too. Overall

Came here with friends for brunch, and loved the ambiance and the food - while it's a fancier spot, the food definitely lives up to the high ratings. The group got the famous blueberry pancakes to share, which were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. And while I liked how the pancakes weren't too crispy, I unfortunately found the bitterness from the citrus zest inside the pancakes to be a little overpowering. The portion is also quite small so keep that in mind. I also got the avocado toast, which was seasoned very well with a little bit of spicy chili, and the egg was perfectly jammy. I would definitely come back for brunch or dinner, or any nice occasion.

Came here for a celebration. Made reservation for 7pm on a Wednesday. It got crowded around 7:30pm. Love the huge floor to ceiling window and the high ceiling. We ordered steak tartare, mushrooms pate with truffles, veal brisket, cocktails, onion soup, tart pie and creme brulee. Their creme brulee was bigger than I thought. I recommend their tart pie!

We stopped by le crocodile for a Sunday brunch. We made a reservation in advance, but arrived super early and were seated right away. For food, we had the eggs, Benedict and a burger, which were both very delicious. Their fries were perfect!! We also got a chocolate mousse cake to share, which was so good. The food was great however, the service was lacking.

Outstanding food and hospitality at Le Crocodile. We popped in on a whim for lunch on a Tuesday and were seated right away. The restaurant itself is beautiful, elegant, and spacious. I had the chilled tomato soup and duck off the lunch prix fixe and my husband had the burger with a side salad off the regular lunch menu, per our server's recommendations. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Everything bite was perfect. The wine selection is extensive and we both had a white wine by the glass. I accidently spilled ~1/3 of my wine and without skipping a beat, our server kindly refilled it without making me feel silly. We ended our lunch with the maple creme brulee. We will definitely be back.

Was blown away with the hospitality at Le Crocodile! There was a mixup with the reservation and the host was super helpful and still allowed us to sit as a group of six. They offered us to sit upstairs on the terrace, but we ended up going down to the bar which worked perfectly. I love all of the attention to details, especially the warm blankets for the outdoor terrace. Such a nice touch! We also loved our welcome drink that was offered to us, which was a great way to start off the evening. Our bartender Kaia was also amazing and whipped us up some amazing drink drinks! Some of the favorites of the night were the oysters and the French onion soup!

Frisée salad with smoked eel

A cozy French institution in Williamsburg with old school charm. The staff makes you feel right at home. They served a buttery champagne on the house for my girlfriend's birthday. The Jonah crab was refreshing with avocado and came with a crunchy chip. The onion soup with Gruyère was the perfect comfort food for a brisk autumn day. The frisée salad with smoked eel was light but filling and well prepared. The Merguez omelette filled with lamb was delicious as well.

Correctness/Taste (1-5): Despite me getting a very basic dish which was steak and frites, it was executed quite well. There was enough chimichurri without needing you to ask more, the fries were crispy and plentiful. I do wish the steak was seasoned more, but that's my only complaint. The cake was delicious. - 4.5/5 Value (1-5): For what you are paying for you, in this case the steak (with fries) and cake, it is a very reasonable price. After eating both I needed to take a nap because I was nearing "The itis" . - 4/5 Customer Service (1-5): On entry they were extremely friendly. Not much to say, didn't feel odd or weird about eating, servers were attentive and happy. I do really like the mood of the place, its chill, I can't think of a more descriptive word, but chill comes to mind. (5/5) 13.5/15 == 0.9 == 90% == A Would I recommend? Yessir!!! I will definitely be back!

Le Crocodile is a beautiful French restaurant located in Williamsburg. We ordered a LOT of food, starting off with the mushroom pate, escargot, French onion soup, and jonah crab. Everything was delicious and packed with flavor. My favorite here was probably the mushroom pate. As for mains we split the chicken and steak frites. Both were very yummy. I was honestly a bit hesitant to order the chicken since it's often dry at restaurants but this one was juicy and flavorful. The steak was also great, cooked to medium rare. The desserts were also delicious. We ordered the sticky date pudding and the bavarois. The bavarois was more citrusy than we were expecting though still good. Overall the vibes were great and the food was yummy! The prices were also very reasonable for a Michelin starred restaurant. Highly recommend!

It seems there's only enough room for one reptilian French restaurant in the city. With La Grenouille permanently closed, Le Crocodile is thriving within the Wythe Hotel thanks to a spot on the NYT's top 100 list and, perhaps to a lesser extent, its famous sticky date pudding. Dinner at a French brasserie is always a worrisome affair for a vegetarian, but the off-menu cacio e pepe risotto was fantastic, and the trumpet mushroom entree with lentils was a pleasant counterpart to the extraordinarily rich mushroom pâté. If I had any complaint, it was the heavy scent of vinegar on the leeks. As for the pudding? I didn't expect to be so full before dessert, and I'd recommend leaving more room for this bold ode to sugar.

Not pictured here was the Jonah Crab with Avocado and Yuzu Kosho. Do yourself a favor and get this! The crab mixed with the green apples was such an unexpected surprise but excellent pairing! The burger was perfect. The sticky dates dessert was bit on the sweet side, not my fave but the ice cream helped to offset the sweetness. Our waiter was fantastic -- he was attentive and provided excellent recommendations. Overall, great culinary experience. You should definitely book a reservation considering the restaurant is in the lobby of a hotel. There was a wedding going on at the time we went and lots of people hoping to grab a quick bite sans reservations.

Service : excellent. Michelin level service. The recommendations for food were fantastic. Food - favorites: Jonah crab Beet salad - must order Desserts (!) - banana date pudding The chicken was huge and tasty but the above dishes really stood out for flavors and being unique Mushroom pate was okay. We had a lovely time and would strongly recommend this restaurant for date night, friends, family, gatherings. For the quality it was very well priced.

Jonah crab, gnocchi, French onion soup, and Waldorf Salad

I have been here so many times and this place never fails no matter what you order. Everything is delicious. Nothing is overly heavy. The Jonah crab with avocado and yuzu is one of my favorite things on the menu. Had the French onion soup for the first time here and it had a deep rich flavor. The ribeye and the tuna were each perfectly cooked. If you wanted elevated food and a beautiful atmosphere, this is the place. The staff is attentive. This will always be one of my go to spots. Not pictured which is a staple for me is the mushroom pate. It comes with crispy bread. Ask for a side of butter......even their bread and butter is chef's kiss.

However, I was quickly proven wrong. Not only was the service topnotch, but the drinks were surprisingly delicious and refreshing. There's a ton of options which is also surprising considering the tap only format. Upon further reflection of how tiny the bar is, it makes sense why they would go this route. It would be challenging for one person let alone two to be behind that bar shaking and stirring. I also heard there's a back area with more seating but we didn't explore much further than the front bar stool seating. Seems like a cool spot for happy hour or late night drinks and I would definitely return!

We were lucky to grab 2 seats at the bar as the rest of the seating actually seemed a bit cramped and uninviting. They advertise a heated back patio but I don't think the heat was on and no one was there, which is a bummer. Regardless, the theme is nice with everything attributable to their "laboratory" ambience. Everything is served in beakers or similar glasses. It can get a bit crowded sitting at the bar as that's where everyone orders drinks but otherwise this was quite enjoyable. Will definitely keep on the list for HH.
