This place is such a little gem. Food and service were great. For starters we had the Brussel sprouts and shrimp. The Brussel sprouts were delicious, Shrimp was good but didn't care for all the onion on the bottom. I had the steak frites and my steak was delicious and seasoned well. The presentation and portions were great as well. I recommend and would definitely go back.

Cane for brunch with some friends on a Sunday. Super cute and quaint inside - nice and dimly lit vibes. We all had the eggs Benedict. I got mine with lox and was surprised when it came out with both ham and lox, never had that before! It was solid. The Benedict sauce was pretty salty. Potatoes could've been crispier. Service was good.

We enjoyed our lunch here. Lots of choice and both dishes we had were nice. The frittata was different to the usual ones I see at brunch, served in a thick wedge. It's a nice restaurant inside and the staff were friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our lunch here. Lots of choice and both dishes we had were nice. The onion rings were so fresh and crispy! The steak and broccoli rabe were mouth watering. My boyfriend enjoyed his burger and fries as well, great spot!

This is such a neighborhood gem! I've been twice, once in the patio and once in the cozy indoors, and have loved both. One of the best burgers I've had in the city - such a big patty, great cheese, and sautéed onions. So so good. The hangar steak was also delicious and well-priced, and the lamb burger was so good. French fries were meh, burrata was good but a little too citrusy for me! I absolutely love this place, and is great for a nice evening or a rainy one where you need cozy vibes. Super kind staff. I'll be back!

Salmon was cooked well. All the sides complemented the fish and balanced the flavor. Grilled hanger steak was well seasoned and cooked to preference. Went really well with the broccoli rabe and red wine beef reduction. Onion rings were light and crispy. French onion soup was decent. The shaved Brussels sprouts and kale salad was my least favorite; it needed more -- maybe some mandarin and walnuts or something. Service wasn't the best but not too terrible. Ambiance was cozy and laid back.

The service here was gracious, even on a Friday night when the place was alive and humming. Things moved a little slower, but the wait was softened with a basket. I went for the Sweetwater burger w/ sub sweet potato fries and an espresso martini--both solid choices. My friends tried a lentil burger (a hit!!) and onion rings, which were ok; the crab cake, and cucumber fix drink seemed fresh and summery. All in all, a lively spot with good vibes and satisfying plates. Come prepared for a bit of a wait if it's packed, but know that bread and good company will tide you over nicely :)) loved the outdoor seating, floral.

Came here for dinner with some friends and overall this place was a good spot. It was a nice comfy cozy spot and was decorated well for the holidays. I started with the French onion soup which was average. Wasn't upset by it, but wouldn't get it again. For my entree is got the fish of the day which was a delicious seared bass. The bass was cooked perfectly and was juicy and was paired with a nice lemon butter sauce. It came with a beet puree which gave the dish a nice sweet balance. The service was fast and left feeling very full and happy. Overall, the place wasn't bad, but was not super impressionable. If you are in the area it would be a cute place to have a holiday catch up with friends.

The wine was good a little over priced but good. The customer service was awesome they were super nice and attentive ! Dining room and bathroom was clean. The food was OK. Calamari didn't really have any flavor , a little oily /soggy. The parm fries were decent. The burger lacked flavor and I requested pickles to add to my burger but they said they don't have pickles so I was disappointed :(

The staff was great and wanted to keep us there all night long. The location is lovely and I'd definitely be down to come for a night out of drinks instead of dinner. We ordered the fish, burger & lamb burger. The fries on the two burgers looks like when you and I microwave up leftover fries. We all know Fries don't come home with you because they're impossible to make crispy outside the restaurant. Clearly Sweetwater never mastered the crispiness since these were the limpest fries I've seen in my entire life. My lamb burger also tasted a bit off, and I wished the burgers were served on real buns instead of a Thomas English Muffin. Please save those for your breakfast sandwiches, no one wants them with their dinner. My friend enjoyed his Fish, so it seems like they have some good dishes on the menu.

Came here with a friends on Saturday around 4pm. We ordered the steak and eggs, fried chicken sandwich, sangria and a lavender mint lemonade. It took a really long time for our food and drinks to come. There was only one bartender but we waited over 20 mins just for the drinks alone, both of which were not good. However, the food more than made up for it, even though once again a long wait. My eggs were fluffy, soft and flavorful that I was raving about it as soon as I ate it. The steak was tender and the chimmichuri sauce went well with it. My friend really enjoyed her chicken sandwich as well. Overall, I would come back for brunch but I wouldn't get drinks from here.

Is this a good spot for a wedding rehearsal dinner?

Depends on how many people! It's a cute quaint place, so if the party is large just rent out the entire place for the evening. But amazing food, so the answer is YES!

The chicken cutlet and chicken dumplings were fine but I probably wouldn't order them again. Not surprising, then, that it was pretty packed by the time we finished dinner, at 10:30ish. Serptentine has a solid cocktail list, one that definitely reflects the West Village sensibility. The drinks are all clear variations of classics (ie., martini, negroni, espresso martini, margarita, old fashioned, etc.) but with some added intrigue. All well-executed and made efficiently, which is very impressive during weekend primetime. If you're not nearby I wouldn't make a trip to the area just for Serpentine, but it's a fantastic option if you live/work in the neighborhood and/or are getting a meal in the area and are looking for a bar to start or end at. As I mentioned, it was relatively busy when we arrived here. There weren't any open seats initially but the host said we could hang around the bar for a bit, as he expected a table to open soon. It was probably 10 minutes before we were sat which is basically like being sat immediately in New York time. And generally, the staff here were great -- very personable and accommodating, quick service, only praise in that area. The vibes here are cozy but lively, giving more of a friend hangout than a date (it's also relatively loud so not ideal for conversation if you're sitting across from someone at a table, versus standing and mingling or sitting on bar stools). If you're a dirty martini person you are in luck here, because the Serpentini (grey goose vodka, dry vermouth, olive brine, pepperocini liqueur) is unlike any other. And I get dirty martinis pretty much everywhere I go, so that's saying something. Why is it so unique, you may ask? Well, the pepperocini liqueur is a nice touch and props to whoever decided it was necessary to make such a thing. But the real game changer is the sidecar. You may be thinking -- how is a sidecar unique? Well, it's not just any sidecar...it is not filled with more martini but simply PURE FILTHY BRINE. I mean, if you're ordering a dirty martini, you probably would take a bath in olive brine, brush your teeth with olive brine -- hell, maybe even your contact solution is just olive brine. Want to make your martini dirtier as you drink it? Serpentine has you covered. It is so simple and obvious yet I've never experienced it before. And, because I've never met someone who loves dirty martinis who doesn't also drool over blue cheese-stuff olives, the Serpentini's got that too. Though less exciting and groundbreaking, Mezcal Negroni (ilegal mezcal, campari, averna amaro, lo-fi gentian amaro) is also solid. I love a mezcal negroni and this one is relatively straightforward, just a subtle variation with a few different amaros to add some complexity and herbal notes. A fun and versatile neighborhood spot. It's in prime location so I imagine to rent is absurd, so fingers crossed that it sticks around!
