Great service and espresso martini was delicious. Love the vibe as well. Super loud but good for groups.

Decent bar. Nice vibes. Got the ritzy but it was too sweet. Did not get a chance to try the food.

We had a great time at Serpentine for post-dinner drinks recently. I already had it mind when we walked by on our way to dinner and even at around 8:30 (on a Saturday) it was already busy. Not surprising, then, that it was pretty packed by the time we finished dinner, at 10:30ish. Serptentine has a solid cocktail list, one that definitely reflects the West Village sensibility. The drinks are all clear variations of classics (ie., martini, negroni, espresso martini, margarita, old fashioned, etc.) but with some added intrigue. All well-executed and made efficiently, which is very impressive during weekend primetime. If you're not nearby I wouldn't make a trip to the area just for Serpentine, but it's a fantastic option if you live/work in the neighborhood and/or are getting a meal in the area and are looking for a bar to start or end at. As I mentioned, it was relatively busy when we arrived here. There weren't any open seats initially but the host said we could hang around the bar for a bit, as he expected a table to open soon. It was probably 10 minutes before we were sat which is basically like being sat immediately in New York time. And generally, the staff here were great -- very personable and accommodating, quick service, only praise in that area. The vibes here are cozy but lively, giving more of a friend hangout than a date (it's also relatively loud so not ideal for conversation if you're sitting across from someone at a table, versus standing and mingling or sitting on bar stools). If you're a dirty martini person you are in luck here, because the Serpentini (grey goose vodka, dry vermouth, olive brine, pepperocini liqueur) is unlike any other. And I get dirty martinis pretty much everywhere I go, so that's saying something. Why is it so unique, you may ask? Well, the pepperocini liqueur is a nice touch and props to whoever decided it was necessary to make such a thing. But the real game changer is the sidecar. You may be thinking -- how is a sidecar unique? Well, it's not just any sidecar...it is not filled with more martini but simply PURE FILTHY BRINE. I mean, if you're ordering a dirty martini, you probably would take a bath in olive brine, brush your teeth with olive brine -- hell, maybe even your contact solution is just olive brine. Want to make your martini dirtier as you drink it? Serpentine has you covered. It is so simple and obvious yet I've never experienced it before. And, because I've never met someone who loves dirty martinis who doesn't also drool over blue cheese-stuff olives, the Serpentini's got that too. Though less exciting and groundbreaking, Mezcal Negroni (ilegal mezcal, campari, averna amaro, lo-fi gentian amaro) is also solid. I love a mezcal negroni and this one is relatively straightforward, just a subtle variation with a few different amaros to add some complexity and herbal notes. A fun and versatile neighborhood spot. It's in prime location so I imagine to rent is absurd, so fingers crossed that it sticks around!

I really enjoyed my cocktails at Serpentine. I would maybe recommend here for a SMALL group of 2-3. Seating is very tough. We saw an open table and asked to sit there but were told it was reserved. About thirty minutes later we got sat at that very table. We had a group of four to start but as more people came to meet us it felt very unwelcoming by the host and employees. I felt the staff seemed annoyed and entitled when I talked to them. The host seemed to sit girls that were stereotypically pretty immediately while other people waited. And as someone who waited...

A cute little pit stop while waiting for our table at Semma to be ready. Their happy hour is worth checking out. $12 Aperol Spritz and $12 whipped almond spread that kept our hunger at bay.

Came by for a drink before dinner and had such a good experience! Ambiance is elegant and cozy. We got espresso martinis which tasted amazing! The bartender was very helpful and nice. Would definitely come back!

i would describe this place as if you took a run down rowdy beer tavern and only served cocktails. bc the drinks were actually good but pretty much everything else wasn't. it was clear that the host was singling people out who he liked or found attractive (or not POC) and gave them seats right away. my party had to wait a really long time even though we had a reservation. the server was great! wish they had more than 1 bathroom

Salad was good but a bit too heavy on sauce. The mushroom was good but the fried coating was too thick. I heard the sandwich was very good and the fries were hand cut and very crisp. Spicy marg and oysters were good and fresh.

Came here to try the drinks because it was raining outside and wanted to get some cover. I saw the reviews were pretty good. The server and hostess were very sweet and the server recommended us drinks based on our questions. There weren't many people when we first came but it started to get busier as we left. The drinks we had were pretty good and reasonably priced for the area.

Came here for happy hour with a coworker and it was a great time. We love the happy hour menu and would love to come back. It's a very cute place, vibe is great. As soon as I entered, I saw someone with their cute dog. So friendly. All the employees are great, friendly, clearly happy to be there doing what they love. The drinks are wonderful, made really well. My coworker commented on how our bartender is really great at making cocktails. Ambiance is just right, not loud, we could hear each other talking. Am looking forward to coming back

Such a cute place and great service! delicious drinks!

This place is amazing! Great service and drinks! Love it! So cute inside! I got the rose and my husband got the mojito! We went two days in a row! Will be back!

I am SO glad we did. The vibe drew us in, they had great music bumpin from the outside, it looked lively and welcoming. Let me tell you- I would have skipped dinner and just stayed here all evening if it was my choice! But alas, my husband wanted a bit more to eat. But let me tell you- their knowledge of wine is PRISTINE! I can't tell you what white wine we had but they captured our tastes perfectly. We also shared a bruschetta and it was deliciouso! I love how friendly the staff was here and how unpretentious it all was. Next time we are in NYC- we will definitely make a point to come visit Rake!

First I'll start with the wine - we ended up trying all three happy hour wines (HH until 7), which the tables favorites were the white and we ended up getting a bottle to split once HH ended (but I really enjoyed the other vino verde option). It was incredibly refreshing and paired well with the many tinned fish options. As you'd expect - it's a pretty massive selection and there is bound to be a varietal and glass for any palate. It's also attached to a wine store - so it's fine to see all the bottles when peaking over. Food-wise - this is where it was hit or miss, they have a pretty extensive menu (with a whole tinned fish section!) and we ended up ordering the buratta on focaccia (buratta was excellent, focaccia was too dense for my tastes), mushroom truffle crostini (way too salty), the flatbread with sliced kielbasa (was fine), halloume (table favorite ), tinned sardines in lemon oil (delicious), tinned smoked trout (my favorite). Overall the four of us were very full at the end of the meal! The space itself felt very relaxing and rustic, and definitely got busier as the night went on (we got there at 6:50 and left around 9). The service was also fast and attentive - even for the amount of tables they were serving. Overall - I'd definitely go back again, and maybe just focus on the wine and another tinned fish selection!

The ssam lettuce wraps were good, though they read a little more like Jewish brisket with a spicy bean sauce than what I expected from a Korean lettuce wrap. Still tasty, just a different vibe. Honestly, this would've been a 5-star meal if I didn't leave with three mosquito bites. Great food, great service, great wine -- just maybe bring bug spray.

First off, the front door is mounted on flimsy plastic hinges, so every time someone opens it, it swings open violently and knocks the vase off the nearby table. The service was somehow even worse. When I was there on Tuesday, May 19th from 8-10 PM, there was exactly ONE bartender working the entire place -- both inside and outside -- and she was unbelievably inattentive. My date and I sat at the bar for TWENTY MINUTES before she even acknowledged us or asked if we wanted drinks. I literally had to call out "Excuse me" just to order a $25 quarter-filled glass of wine. Embarrassing all around. And when we were ready to leave and wanted the check, the female bartender working on Tuesday May 19th from 8-10 PM was busy standing in the corner chatting with someone instead of helping customers. I haven't seen someone move this slowly or care this little since the DMV. TO MANAGEMENT - this was absolutely horrible, embarrassing, and unprofessional service. Clean up your act, and hire a second or even a third bartender.
