Mountain Dew and Lavender Lemon Drop
Michelle L.

We walked in for drinks and sat at the bar. The vibe is fun with modern accents and a disco ball. It wasn't too loud. They have many interesting cocktails. I got the lavender lemon drop which had lavender sugar and many other fragrant components.

Shy Shy is from the same people behind Jungle Bird, another reliable bar in Chelsea. Some coworkers and I came for happy hour and I tried: + Sauvignon Blanc + Espressotini + Dirty martini + French onion labneh + Fries Labneh was the food highlight. Overall the drinks weren't anything special, but the prices are good and you can do worse in this area.

I've been here a few times and each time has been a lovely experience! First, the interior is beautiful and spacious. It's a perfect spot for a girls night or day ;) and even date night! Service is friendly and attentive. They have happy hour martinis and fries -- two of my favorite things! I love how they keep the martinis chilled in ice for optimal taste. The attention to detail is amazing here! It's definitely one of my go to spots for drinks.

We came here at 4pm on a Wednesday and it was PACKED! Definitely recommend making a reservation if you can. The interior is really nicely decorated. There is one handicap accessible restroom on the main floor, the rest are down a steep flight of stairs to the basement. The happy hour menu is *extremely* limited but the prices are good if it has something you like - such as $5 beers, $5 French fries. The fries were drenched in garlic which was great for taste but not a good option if you're on a date or going out afterwards. There is no option for any red wine on the happy hour menu, which was strange. Most wines are $15-$20. Could not give it a better review because the bar staff using the glass washing station were an absolute mess. We - as well as the people sitting next to us - were quite literally getting splashed as the bartender was flipping glasses over after using the rinser without drying them so any water in the bowl was splashing everywhere. Every few minutes he would run a bar rag over the puddles that were on the stone, on the menus, splashing all over people's cell phones that they placed on the bar. He was also storing clean glasses on the bar top rather than behind or under the bar, limiting the space patrons had for drinks or food plates.

I came here with one of my friends one evening to catch up and just grab drinks. The interior of the space is dimly lit, romantic, and has cute decor. Service was kind and pretty quick with both food and drinks. I just got a glass of wine, while my friend got a dirty martini and a caesar salad. I loved my wine, and I would definitely come back to their other wines. My friend enjoyed the salad, but unfortunately found out that day that dirty martinis are not her thing haha. Fortunately, the staff was so kind and we were able to get a different drink for her. Prices are reasonable here, and food is solid. I would just note that this place does get pretty packed and it CAN get hard to hear whoever you're with if you're sitting at a table as they're so close together (I felt like I was yelling half the time). But nonetheless, a cute spot with good drinks.

New addition to the neighborhood behind Jungle Bird. Interesting cocktail menu but they are all batched so adjustment isn't possible. (I prefer less sweet usually)... Martini was great, enough savory yet balanced. Tried the Dip during HH which the waitress strongly recommended - French Onion dip, yet it tastes more like dill and artichoke in sour cream, didn't love it. Feel like just fridge cleaning sell. It was heavy. Other than the bites, cute place to visit.

I came here during their happy hour with my friend and was greeted kindly by the hostess and sat immediately. We had to make a reservation as this seems to be a pretty popular spot. The interior is very cute!! I recommend this spot for going out for a quick drink with your girlfriends, the drinks we ordered both tasted very good :)!

Wanted to try ShyShy since it opened! Stopped in on a Sunday night. It was pretty crowded and lively. We didn't have a reservation but were able to get a high top table. The entrance is accessible. They have one accessible bathroom on the ground floor and more bathrooms down a flight of stairs. We both had a Caesar salad martini which was pretty good. They serve it with a piece of lettuce with an anchovy on it. I'm a vegetarian so I did not eat the anchovy and gave it to my friend. The martini itself has a peppery vibe and was refreshing. We shared deviled eggs. They were a classic deviled egg with no frills. They only give you 3 though - wish they gave you 4 for an even split. Overall, the service was good and attentive and the place had a great vibe. I would come back and try another kind of drink!

Came here for happy hour which is M-F until 7pm and omg i absolutely loved it! The space is super cute and relatively spacious with both regaular and bar seating available. My friend and I both got the dirty martini and it was delicious, 100% would be back for happy hour here! I do reccommend making a reservation, especially if you're trying to come for HH as it does get packed but it's a must try!

A GREAT find in Chelsea! Inside was very chic. We went for happy hour and got the fries, mozzarella balls, fried olives, and of course a round (or a few) of cocktails. Highly recommend for someone looking for a nice sit down cocktail bar!

Overall rating: 4.65 I saw this place on the Tok & it's really cute. It's very spacious! Which is always my big fear when it comes to cute. The bartender was really nice and I enjoyed my cocktail, but wow, the music was so loud! Loud enough, that I wonder if I was there on a date - we wouldn't be able to hear ourselves. It screams a date place so I'm not ready to discount it yet. If I'm in the area & im looking to go out, I usualllly default to Jungle Bird across the street. But def adding this to my rotation!

Bar is fire!

Happy Hour was great--music, drinks, ambiance! Recommended. Would come back for late night to see how the place evolves.

Went to try the infamous Caesar Salad Martini. The martini is served with a little skewer of romaine lettuce, anchovy, and dressing as a side bite to bring out the flavor of the cocktail. The deviled eggs were good. The bar was hopping but there were a couple free tables so we didn't need to wait. Service was speedy. I would go back again to try a different drink.

Oh so dirty and espresso martini

Amazing happy hour!!! Go and get the dirty martini - they give you extra drink on the side with ice. The lemon drop is also a great treat.

Lo and behold, she did have a table for us - as long as we were out in an hour and a half, which was just the right amount of time. Stepping into this place feels like you're in some secret, super special cocktail club. Decor is super high end, vibes are upscale AF. The cocktail menu is incredible -- and incredibly pricey, but truly worth it. I ordered the Valentino which was strong and sweet, really well made. They gave out a complimentary nut mix that was also delicious. Service was swift and gracious. If you're looking for a spot to impress a date, this is it.

There's also seating on the second floor, perfect for couples or small groups. I tried two of their cocktails when I went. The first was the Eastern Julep, a delicious twist on a classic. The mint Moroccan tea gave the drink a cool, refreshing taste on every sip. I also tried the Silver Screen, the closest drink I could find to an old fashioned. It was interesting, there was definitely a hint of a buttery taste. Overall a really balanced bourbon drink. I walked in and found room at the standing tables. A bar seat eventually opened up but I was already on my second drink by then. Definitely make reservations if you're planning a visit!

The bar seating was plentiful and comfortable. There is plenty of space for people to stand behind the bar or a high top tables enjoying happy hour after work. If you go at 4:30 or 5, it's a bit calmer as the after work crowd trickles in. And as the evening went on, it started to get more and more packed, and it became a really lively vibe. After my friend left for another function, I stuck around a little bit longer for a little solo dinner. I had a glass of Prosecco off the happy hour menu followed by a dirty martini, and I did request to look at their full dinner menu because there was a couple items that I wanted to try. I wanted to try the duck Ragu and halloumi cheese, both of which were absolutely fantastic. The halloumi cheese was perfectly grilled and flavorful, and the duck Ragu was very comforting. I highly recommend both dishes. I ended up chatting with a woman sitting next to me who happened to work with select apertivo, and next thing I know one of the bartenders handed me a lovely bright cocktail to try on the house. It was a refreshing bubbly Barlume spritz that I'll definitely have to get again next time. Overall, I had a really great time at Barlume. The service was excellent from the servers and the bartenders, and they were all very attentive, personable and friendly throughout the evening. I'll definitely be back for happy hour or dinner with friends!

All the dishes came out within short intervals. Handmade drinks came straight from the bar. Overall we spent over two wonderful hours dining and drinking here.

We had a nice table tucked in to a corner where we had a view of the kitchen and could sit next to each other on the bench seat. Our primary server, Luis, was helpful and lovely. I was impressed with the way the whole staff seemed to work together to serve, bus tables, ask if we needed anything and talk with us. I really have to say the service was superb. Shoutout to Chris who not only tended bar but worked the floor and to the lovely hostess whose name I wish I had gotten. But really the whole staff was just A+++. We shared the crispy artichokes (outstanding) and the cacio e Pepe arancini (where the fried parsley was especially unique and delicious) to start. I had the eggplant parmesan which reminded me of an eggplant dish I had in Venice -- but better. My husband had the ricotta cavatelli which was also great. For dessert I had the olive oil cake accompanied by lemon curd and --wait for it -- rosemary gelato. I was skeptical about this gelato, but it turned out to be a wonderfully fantastic surprise! My husband had the Apple Crostata which was also fantastic. The limoncello was a perfect way to end the meal. I was told by my husband that I can't shave off a star for Chef Tom not being there himself. So, I won't. Fair enough. But I'm still hoping I catch him another time.

I found the hodgepodge of old-timey decor to be a bit kitsch, but to each their own. I came with a group on a weeknight with no reservation. We were seated immediately on a high wood table. Although the bar wasn't busy (there were plenty of empty spaces, small groups scattered throughout the area), the service was quite slow. The server was inattentive and took a while to take our orders. We had to ask her for water three times, searching for her across the room in an attempt to catch her attention. She was a bit absent during the two-ish hours we were there. On the bright side, the drinks were fairly good. I ordered this strawberry vodka cocktail topped with whole mint. I'm wary of vodka for its harsh, unpleasant taste, but I found this drink to actually be very pleasant, tasing like a fruit smoothie you'd get from a local juicer. There was also a burgundy drink served on a wine glass that tasted like the holidays. I liked that one quite a bit. Overall, Oscar Wilde was an okay experience. It's certainly a bar for a certain type of crowd, and the service was lacking, but maybe we went on a bad night. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll be served better than we were.
