RIP to the NoMad Bar, which was my favorite bar in NYC. Little Ned, now in its place, is unfortunately not it. I happed to visit a few times within the timespan of a week so I am confident in my assessment. First, my boyfriend and I walked in at 6:48 PM on a Saturday to grab a quick drink before a show, and got lucky with a table. The Start Me Up (nice homage!) was great, but the Prerequisite was mid. (Little Mid?) I then returned on a weekday with a reservation, and my friend and I got a great table on the second level overlooking the bar. Sadly we had a weird/bad server - he forgot a few small things and also just had an odd demeanor? This can be forgiven if the food/drinks are incredible, but alas. Dill pickle martini was good if a little too sweet. The food was hit or miss: tagliatelle, broccolini and beets and goat cheese were good; buttermilk chicken was not. It tasted like nothing, and was purportedly spicy but absolutely wasn't?? Food (and drinks) were just so much better at the NoMad Bar. Will not be back.

If you are looking for a cozy and upscale cocktail bar then this is it. Perfect for a girls night or date. The drinks are excellent -- strong, but don't taste it. And we loved that we didn't need to shout to have a conversation.

Cute bar, super nice vibes and perfect for a date night! The music isn't too loud, leaving room for good conversation. The bar is also soo pretty so highly recommend sitting there if you have the chance:-) we were easily seated on a Saturday evening (pretty early into the night). We sat in a quiet corner of the bar, and it was very quiet and intimate. I had the Tiptree Sour, which was a light, refreshing drink that wasn't too strong. Friendly service, and good selection of drinks. No complaints.

This place is such a hidden gem & has become possibly one of my favorite cocktail bars in the city. Fantastic drinks, amazing cozy vibes, and great service.

Little Ned is one of my favorite cocktail bars in Manhattan. It is nestled on a quiet street and the entrance is not totally obvious. There is a parking lot across from it, if that helps. The vibe here is quiet, intimate and elegant. I have been here before with reservations and have also been here without. When we showed up on a Friday night without a reservation, and a large group, they were able to accommodate us right away. There are two levels - downstairs has some bar seating, some lounge seating and some booth seating. Upstairs, the setting is more like a library, with a bookcase, some two person tables and one or two larger tables. All servers and hosts have been friendly and accommodating. The servers are happy to recommend drinks and describe them to you. I have not been unhappy with any drink or food dish here. The cheese plate is a favorite - comes with honey on an actual honeycomb. The espresso ice cream sandwich is so so good. The bathrooms are on the lower level and are gender neutral. They have upscale soap and lotion in the bathroom which is a nice touch. Bathrooms are always sparkling clean. I love the decor throughout the bar, and the paintings near the bathroom are no exception. I've taken people here who love it here so much that they wind up coming back and bringing more friends. If you are able to get the larger table in front of the window upstairs, it has a direct view of the Empire State Building. The sound level is good - it is not a loud bar, but still lively and the energy is kinetic. Easily one of the coolest, chillest places to come for a drink when you want to keep the night low key.

Came here with a friend after dinner just to grab a drink and keep yapping. The vibes are superb! Dim lights, dark wood, huge bar selection, it's lowkey giving speakeasy old school bar vibes, we loved it! I'm sober at the moment so I got a couple of mocktails, while my friend tried several of their appealing drinks even one called "the everything martini" that came with a tiny ball of mozzarella cheese in it lol. She said it was good and I trust her taste. My mocktails were good too, very refreshing and delicious without being overly sweet or feeling like I'm drinking a basic juice. I mean it is juice but like elevated I'd go again, cool vibes, great service and drinks.

I remember when this was "The Nomad Bar" at "The Nomad". The interior is basically the same as before. The bar and food is still very good, but I will say that just about everything is a tad behind the old establishment. Drinks are great, but not excellent (The Nomad Bar was #1 cocktail bar in the world for a while). Vibe was incredible and the place was always packed on a weeknight (many nights there was a wait or no availability), and now the place isn't filled and the clientele isn't as lively Service used to be unmatched both at the bar and for tables, now not as much Food was a cut above any other swanky cocktail bar, and now it's on par. Don't get me wrong, this place is still great (hence the 4 stars), but the place hasn't evolved / has potentially taken a step back in terms of overall quality. I'll be back, but there are many other contenders now.

Always go here for the Martinis! One of my favorite go to spots for an after work quick drink! Good for groups or a one on one catch up or date night!

What a cool bar. Went here for a drink after eating dinner and we were presently surprised. Even though the drinks are pricey (but hey, you are in NYC! What's not overpriced?), it was worth sitting and enjoying the ambiance, talking and enjoying a cocktail. Bartenders were great and very helpful explaining the drinks.

Great spot to bring colleagues visiting from out of town. I was looking for a spot near where they were staying and have had Little Ned on my radar for a couple of years now. Perfect excuse to finally give it a try! The drinks were all delicious - we each got a couple of rounds and I chose both the Champagne Martini and Japanese Highball. The champagne martini struck the perfect balance of boozy and light, while the highball had an awesome kick to it. My colleagues all enjoyed their cocktails too, so it seems you really cannot go wrong here. We shared some bites too - the warm pretzel, cheese plate, lobster roll, steak frites. My two favorites were the pretzels and the lobster roll, but all were quite good! Given the price range, I'd definitely recommend for an occasion or trying to impress out of towners.

I hadn't been to Little Ned in so long, I forgot I had been there before, and when my friend and I walked in last Friday night, I went: "Oh, right! I loved this place the last time I was here!" We visited around 9pm on a Friday night. They didn't have any tables but they had one seat at the bar (my friend sat and I stood next to her), which was fine since we had planned on just having one drink. The service at the bar was good (friendly and as attentive as they can be when they're busy). But our drinks are what I'll remember. It just so happens that the friend I was with and I love to try pickle martinis whenever we see them on a menu and compare them with all the others we've had. We saw a pickle martini at the top of their menu when we began to read the menu and we just stopped and agreed on two of those (I do remember from the last time I was there years ago that I loved their cocktails and mocktails in general). The cocktail ("Dill Pickle") was creative (a wet martini served with a side of pickle chips topped with a little everything bagel spice, they told us to take a bite of the pickles and then sip the drink) and different from others we've had. Just a creative, delicious cocktail, one that makes you curious to try more from their menu. Overall, a really nice cocktail bar. Hopefully it won't be so long before I return again!

Cute drinks with a small order of fries!

A cozy place to take your friends after a nice meal. The servers are so thoughtful, and I do plan to return. The small eats menu is decent and complements the drink menu well.

Came with a group here on a Saturday night after some dinner and karaoking to wind down. We walked in at around 11pm and asked if they had seating for 8. They made us wait by the door and said that we can stand around at the bar. We were OK with that and then suddenly they came and said they have a spot for us upstairs. Decor: The ambiance is lovely. It is dark and had a great sophisticated vibe. We were seated at the touch by the windows on the 2nd floor and had a great unobstructed view of the Empire State Building. Food: We just ordered one giant fountain for the group to share. It was definitely worth it and I loved how the pitcher had 4 nozzles providing easy access for the entire group no matter where they were sitting. We asked if it was suitable for a group of 8 and the waitress seemed to imply it was more for a group of 6. We were fine with that since we aren't heavy drinkers, but even our group of 8 had trouble finishing it.

Anthony wouldn't turn it on until we all signed our waivers and "his door was closed." What the two had to do with one another is beyond me. This was the first clue this trip was going to be a nightmare. Common courtesy would have been to make sure the van was cooled down each time we had to get in, but instead we crammed in and sweat from stop to stop. He was completely unprofessional, was on his phone the entire time at the breweries, and offered no knowledge or insight into the breweries we were visiting. As a self-proclaimed "beer guy," I didn't understand his lack of interaction with our group. Instead, he made a scene at our last stop which was a complete embarrassment. Even the guys working at the breweries apologized and knew we weren't the ones with the issue. When I tried respectfully speaking to him about what was going on, he threatened to leave us at the brewery and find our own way home. Our other option was to immediately leave and cut our tour short, which we were forced to do. He had something against our group, as stated, from the first few minutes of the tour. It's a real shame that my best friend put so much effort into making her husband's birthday special and we were all treated so poorly. Luckily, the breweries themselves were wonderful, accommodating, and seemed to truly enjoy our group, unlike our driver who was disrespectful and made us all uncomfortable, and is incredibly overpriced. Considering it was 70 dollars for a ride and a four ounce pour at each of three breweries per person is outrageous, especially when considering NJ state law, breweries are required to give you a tour for free! In fact, most places require a tour. The way this is advertised makes it seem like you're getting something extra for going on NJ Brew Tours. Save your money. Visit the breweries on your own.

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Easy to find if you know what you're looking for, if you arrive right at 5pm on a cold weeknight in the winter, you'll easily find a table or seat at the bar. Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.
