    Oooooh bae cocktail

This is another one of those places where I wish I could give more than 5 stars. We came here for a nightcap after a Broadway show, and every part of our experience was perfect. They were able to seat us right away. The food and drinks came out really quickly. The s'mores old fashioned was one of the best cocktails I've ever had. The vibe of this place was perfect for a late-night drink. I'll definitely be telling all of my friends about Bathtub Gin.

Hidden behind a coffee shop, Bathtub Gin is a elevated, sophisticated, dimly lit, cozy surprise when you enter. We were seated at a booth and it was the perfect spot to talk, catch-up and enjoy. Our waiter was kind and attentive, helping us with our order. We ordered the Gin Mill Gimlet and S'mores Old Fashioned, which were both delicious. The S'mores Old Fashioned was especially tasty and I would definitely order again. A perfect spot to go for a date or with friends that feels somewhat hidden and makes for a special night.

I reeeaally loved this cocktail bar! Their drinks are truly an art and absolutely fantastic. Our server had such great knowledge about various liquors and cocktails and flavor palettes. The atmosphere is sooo intimate and moody. Great for a date or a small party. Will absolutely be coming back!!

Small speakeasy with a moody, dimly-lit ambiance! Perfect for a date! I stopped by Bathtub Gin with a group of 6 friends for post-dinner drinks and their Make Your Own S'mores experience. The table they sat us at was very small for our large party, but I loved the decor and dark vibe of the bar. The s'mores were fun to make, but nothing that I couldn't get from the grocery store and put together on my own! Would skip next time!

This 1920's speakeasy is hidden behind Stone Street coffee shop. Once you enter, there is a required coat check (at least during the winter days). Since there was a live band playing (it was a Wednesday night), they did charge $10pp for table seats and $5pp for the standing bar. We opted for the bar area where we were eventually able to snag some bar stools. We had a few rounds here as I was able to try Drop A Dime Collin's ($19), S'mores Old Fashioned ($20), Ducky Highball ($19), and Live Wire ($19). I did enjoy the old fashioned which was strong, but found the live wire to be way too sweet. The band that was playing had great vibes playing lots of old school R&B, which I loved. Good vibes overall with some decent drinks. The music can get quite loud, but the live music is fun.

Waited a bit in line to get in for a drink. No tables, just standing room available. I got the s'mores old fashioned and it was delicious! Love the marshmallow it came with too. Would come back to try other options as well.

Great ambiance and aesthetic with delicious drinks. Surprisingly, it wasn't insanely loud inside and the tables are spaced such that it isn't as crowded as some other speakeasies or bars. I really liked their vintage magazine/menu style which was a nice tough in addition to the usual QR code menu that was available. Drinks were reasonable for NYC (~$20 each) and leaned heavily towards coffee and s'mores themed variations. Service is friendly and efficient, although I was turned off by the fact that they have a bathroom attendant. Not sure why a speakeasy needs one, but did not like the fact that they kept gesturing towards their Venmo and tip jar for turning on the water faucet and handing me paper towels. Gives off a club vibe but other than that it was enjoyable. Was relatively easy to secure a reservation and they give you two hours which is more generous than most!

I've had this spot on my list forever. However, when you're the gin lover of your crew you get vetoed often. But not this night. A friend and I met here on Thursday after-work and just about fell in deep like with this place. We got there pretty early so we had our pick with seating and sat in the middle on one of the cute round couches. We decided to forego the bathtub b/c we didn't want to struggle getting out of it. Lol We tried one of the G&Ts, but I couldn't tell you which. I can tell you it was refreshing and satisfying. I also had the sangria. That was good as well, just a lil on the sweet side. We shared an order of the chicken sliders since we were inhaling drinks. Lol Service was excellent and I'm sure our waiter practiced patience when trying to figure of which G&Ts we wanted to try. Lol. Super cute spot to meet up with friends or date night. I'll definitely be back.

Adorable speakeasy that is such a vibe. drinks and small plates were perfection. I will definitely be returning when we have more time!

Literally loved this bar. The people were all very friendly and the inside had a super cool vibe. However it was so hot in there. The silver screen martini actually tasted like coconut popcorn. Super boozy but I loved it. The espresso martini was incredible. Would definitely recommend this bar.

Bathtub Gin is a cute spot located near Chelsea Market. There was a line when we arrived but we had a reservation. Inside, the music was really loud and the atmosphere was dark, overall offering a fun vibe. There was also an iconic gold/copper bathtub in the middle of the venue. They are known for their gin and tonics, of which they offer a huge variety of. These are my go to drinks but this one was a bit on the stronger and less sweet side (I usually add a dash of lime juice) than I'm used to. We also ordered the pork belly which was superrr salty. However, it was a decently sized portion. Overall, we had a good time!

    Tiffany V.

On our second visit, we decided to try some other drinks on their menu and the food here! Slo and Easy was my favorite of the bunch we tried! Food was also unexpectedly amazing! We had the pork belly, cucumber salad, and the potato dauphinoise! Would recommend all three! Service was a bit on the slower side as they were quite busy, but they do not rush you out by any means if you have a reservation.

Overall, the ambiance and cocktails were pretty mid and underwhelming. But the service was extremely under par for the strict reservation policies and price point. We were flying into New York to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. I had made a reservation for 2 at 11 pm on a Friday night since it was a cocktail bar he really wanted to try. Their cancellation policy on Resy states that your table will be given away if you are over 15 minutes late and that there is a $25 cancellation fee per person. They say to call if you will be over 15 minutes late. Our flight was delayed so making the reservation was going to be tight. For some reason their phone was constantly busy so this was a very stressful experience. I texted back the resy confirmation text around 10 pm but didn't receive a response until after our 11 pm reservation time. So this whole experience was very stressful and we are rushing from the airport to the hotel to drop off bags to the bar. I manage to arrive to the bar at 11:16 pm. Since it's a speakeasy it was unclear where Bathtub Gin was. I noticed a line so I walked in since I had a reservation and they had a strict policy. Immediately when I entered the security/bouncer spoke very aggressively and said "you can't be in here. You have to go outside." There was no greeting and his tone was so aggressive that I thought I had entered the wrong place, I briefly saw the word "Stone Street" in the establishment and thought he was being aggressive because I had rudely cut the line for a weed shop. So I asked "is this bathtub gin?" And the women from behind the counter said yes it is very politley. Then the security/bouncer said again in a very firm tone "go outside. We have a system." He did not say what that system was so we went outside and stood in line on the right. he yelled from inside at us "NO NO THE LEFT. RESERVATIONS ON THE LEFT!" I felt this was a little unprofessional and at this point was unsure if our table was already given away based on the strict reservation policy. We waited out side on the left for 10 minutes as he let everyone else in line in and chatted with them in a friendly manner. I felt very confused and singled out. When we were eventually let in, the bar was very loud and the music was also very loud. It was very hard to talk in the bar and we were reminded of the maximum stay of 2 hours. Although we left much earlier than that. The cocktails themselves were very mid and nothing unique or special. I had ordered the gin gimlet and olives (we missed dinner to rush to the bar). My boyfriend had the high ball (which was too sweet in my opinion). I didn't understand why all their policies were so strict and why this bar was crowded and popular to be honest. The service was also underwhelming the entire time. It ways took multiple tries to get someone's attention to order or even get the check. The held up the check above my head for a few minutes like I was raising my hand in a classroom to ask a question and no one noticed.... The only person on top of it was the man designated to refill water. My water glass never went below half way. The service and whole experience was subpar for all of the policies.

It has easily earned a spot as one of my favorite bars of all time. The underground space flawlessly captures a raw, seedy, 1980s rock 'n' roll vibe, with eclectic decor that extends beautifully to the themed menus and custom glassware. Sitting at the bar was a highlight--the bartenders were fantastic, clearly proud of their craft, and they even humorously indulged my game of trying to guess the ingredients of each drink they mixed. The cocktail lineup is phenomenal. A few absolute highlights: the Purple Rain with its purple ice and peppercorn, the flambéed Dirty Dancing, a brilliant espresso martini riff called Flick The Bean, and Pure Temptation--which has glassware you just have to see for yourself. You need a password (easy to find online), and you go through a hidden door down a staircase. But it feels more like a novelty than anything else. NYC has way more iconic speakeasies, so this isn't somewhere I'd go out of my way for more than once. Nothing wrong with the vibe--it's Times Square, so you already know what you're getting--but it's definitely a one-and-done kind of spot. The drinks are good and super fun, but they're very extra (smoke, presentation, all that), so between that and how packed it gets, it can take a while just to get one cocktail. Didn't try the food. Overall, go for the pics and TikToks--it's perfect for that. I'd recommend checking it out once, but I don't really see it being a repeat spot.

I also got the foreign forage, "a bourbon smash with a mint zing." It was also a delicious take on a classic. They have several types of cocktails, all broken down by spirit and flavor profile. They also offer a lot of spirits made in New York State. From our initial trip last year, I had marked a place called Bar 369 Miroku located in Hell's Kitchen. Being that we didn't make our way to the spot on our trip last year, and were staying in Hell's Kitchen this time around, I wanted us to check out. The only challenge was actually finding it. If you're seeking out this gorgeous speakeasy. You aren't going to find it through some darkened alleyway or non-marked door of a building outside. No. You need to check the website and read between the lines of it being located within a sushi bar on West 46th Street. I could tell you the name, but what fun would that be? Figure that part out. But once you figure out how to access, the staff at said-sushi bar will direct you to the back of the restaurant to wheee you will see a sign for the bar and a stairwell to take you up to the second floor. Once you reach and look around, it looks at first you have reached a dead end between the emergency exit you see and a door that looks locked. There is a black curtain in the darkened hallway you need to notice and peer through. And alas, you will discover the bar that is Bar 369 Miroku. Once you have been checked for ID, and your party number, you are escorted into the small, darkly-lit enclave with plush decor, a bit of a Rolling Stones theme with its large poster hung in the back and artwork perched next to the bar shelving. It's an intimate and relaxed energy that makes it perfect to enjoy one of the Japanese-inspired cocktails on an evening after dinner. The hideaway offers a creative mix of craft cocktail options such as the Ichitaki Spritz (a variation of the Aperol spritz with sake in it), which was quite delightful that I enjoyed immensely within the dark lounge surroundings. If we were here more often, I would have taken advantage of their Japanese whisky selection that looked on point. There is a delectable charm to their curation and craftsmanship of their cocktails, combined with the luscious ambience that makes for a great hangout spot to get away and relax for the night. Bar 369 Miroku hits the mark regarding the speakeasy experience you would think to have when describing one, outside of not needing a password. The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

It IS a small bar, but there were only about 4-5 folks here already, engrossed in a conversation at the bar that anyone could join. I quietly took a seat at one of the 3 tables on the plush high-top bench and the lone, friendly bartendress was immediately attentive (I was greeted the moment I stepped through the door!). Now, there's no ACTUAL liquor here, ONLY the beer and wine on the small menu, so don't try asking her to whip you up something not on the menu. Luckily for me, there was a fruity sangria special, so I opted for that, served with a decorative shark adornment and a metal straw, and was immediately given a little bucket of popcorn to accompany it. Now, this is part of the reason why I wanted to check this place out. Fresh popcorn is my weakness. Bars that give free snacks with drinks are top tier in my book. You could probably lure me into the back of a white van with a signature red and white filled popcorn bucket. So I sat, and I sipped, and I munched, and I listened to the conversation from the others, and the bartendress, god bless her, would check on my bucket and refill it any time it got low. Now I'm really a mixed drink girly, but the vibes were SO cool here that I would most definitely come back. :D Also note, there's cool little padded seating by the window that I noticed that would be great for people-watching outside.

Tucked into a very cool art deco hotel, the Rum House is a tiny little oasis amidst the insanity of Times Square. There was a guy at the door asking about reservations. We did not have one, but we were admitted regardless, and a friendly server / hostess informed us of the 2 drink minimum and seated us right near where the musicians were set up. The drink menu is a ode to rum. All kinds of rum; spiced, dark, overproof, high end. Most of the cocktails are tiki cocktails, but do not be turned off if you don't like sweet drinks! It's a myth that tiki cocktails are all sickly sweet. A properly crafted tiki drink will be a great balance between alcohol, sugar, mint and acid. These drinks were properly crafted! I honestly cannot remember what Larry and I ordered but all four of our drinks were delightful! You really can't go wrong with any of their rum cocktails. We were with Larry's brother, who is not much of a drinker. He ordered a whisky sour made with Crown Royal. The whisky sour was a surprising standout! The sour mix is house made (of course), which elevates this drink from an overly sweet attempt to cover up cheap whisky to a complex beverage that can be savored. The jazz was great - they had 4 musicians (kind of a lot in the small room) who played 2 songs before breaking and returning for another 2 songs, etc, etc. The short sets were welcome as they allowed for conversation between the entertainment. The Rum House is a great stop; don't miss it if you are in the area!

Regardless, I love the dark decor. Its not loud or anything, just a more relaxing environment for drinks where you can actually speak to each other. They have a huge selection of drinks, not too much to eat but there's plenty of restaurants in the area to handle that for you. The popcorn did smell good though. It was also the end of Happy Hour when we arrived. My husband got the 'Hot Buttered Rum' and I got the 'Escape' which was Bacardi 8yr Rum, Coconut Crème, Pineapple Juice, Sweet Vermouth. The drinks were STRONG. They are also pricy but the Hot Buttered Rum was part of Happy Hour so that helped. The service was super friendly, knowledgeable and quick. I would come back or recommend if you are in the area. It was a nice little place and glad I finally tried it.

We decided on the Wagyu sliders, Honey Sriracha Wings and Parmesan Truffle Fries. So glad we did bc all of our choices were fantastic. The sliders were served on a pretzel bun and the Wagyu melted in your mouth. The wings were perfectly cooked. They were smokey with the perfect amount of heat. The fries were just okay. They could have been cooked better or served "fresh." Overall we enjoyed our time at Dutch Fred's and would return after another show.

My husband started with the 'Paradise Found' drink which was koch elemental mezcal, passionfruit puree, pineapple, agave, lime. He loved it. He said it was very strong but one of the best drinks he has had. I got a 'Pom Pom Fresca' which was Pomegranate, blackberry, mint, seltzer. It was super refreshing. For an appetizer, we got the 'Chili Crisp Shrimp' which was Drizzled & Served with Spicy Ginger Chili Sauce. These were delicious; especially the sauce. For an entree, I got the 'Tomato Soup & Grilled Cheese' which was Roasted Tomatoes, Vegetable Stock of Onions, Garlic, Celery, Carrots, & Herbs. Served with a Buttered Grilled Cheese Dipping Sticks. It was just okay - nothing more, nothing less. The cheese was not melted and it was all just okay. My husband got the 'Smashed Burger' which was two 3-ounce Angus Beef Patties, American Cheese, Onion, Buttered Bun with Smash Sauce. Served with French Fries. He loved it and thought it was great burger. This place was pretty pricy. I don't think it was worth the $90 something dollars we spent. The service was quick and friendly. I don't know if I would go back. If I could give it 3.5 I would, but for now I will stick with 3 since the grilled cheese and soup could be have been better.
