We stopped by here back in 2022 and loved it, they have great drinks, the atmosphere is great, customer service was good and the Jin cocktails were my favorite. We loved it and will definitely be back.

Popped in here for lunch and glad we did. The atmosphere is notable and very cool. Our server was attentive, kind, and fun. Food Best burger!!!

I love the name of the restaurant. Inside, it's beautiful. The lights are dim. It's like being in an old school movie. Tristan was our server and he was great. He explained the wide array of drinks and gave us recommendations. The food was delicious! For appetizers, we ordered the crab cake and octopus. I normally don't eat octopus, but I made an exception because it was cooked perfectly to where it was not chewy. I had the wagyu beef. Amazing! Definitely recommend this restaurant to celebrate or for date night.

Fabulous brunch in midtown. Beautiful and upscale but reasonably priced and not snooty. Excellent live jazz (I think 12-2) If you're into gin, you'll go nuts for the selection. To be able to see the band, you need to sit downstairs in the front section. You can also sit upstairs at the upstairs bar and position yourself to see the band. There are also a couple of cozy rooms in ther rear of the downstairs. Shrimp and grits highly recommended by my husband, I had the Greek omelette twice and it's delicious! Comes with very nicely done baby potatoes(not greasy) and good side salad (dressed a little too heavily for me though) Friends loved the crabcake sandwich and ahi tuna salad. happy hour menu looks great!

I heard about their live jazz brunch and made a reservation. The ambience is very unique and the service was friendly throughout. You got all your typical brunch staples on the menu. I opted for the avocado benedict and enjoyed my meal. The roasted potatoes specifically were amazing! I will say that I was hoping the live jazz would be a bit more engaging. We were seated in a back room where we couldn't see the band and they seemed to be taking frequent long-ish breaks. It's a fun brunch but possible a tad underwhelming if you're looking for a live music experience..

My current favorite restaurant in New York! It is lively and fun with fancy vibes, but not impossible to score a table and the menu is phenomenal . The bar was a madhouse this Wednesday, but the ground floor dining room was perfectly abuzz- conversation could be heard without strain at our cozy table for two. Bonus points for fitting us in an hour before our 8 pm reservation! Based on a very memorable brunch with my sister in 2023; I knew that I wanted to bring my son here during his first trip to my hometown (he is not a city guy, but i have a plan to make him fall for New York). Valerie, tonight was a part of my plan to win him over.Cocktails here are inspiring , the menu is fresh and flavorful with attention to detail, amazing versions of classic dishes with so many fresh unexpected ingredients that reading menu descriptions of the cocktails and the share plates, one may order cautiously: Indeed the kitchen comes right to the edge of "gilding the lily" on dishes like the tuna tartare and my very favorite the grilled octopus. Each condiment is chosen with care and used with restraint to make each ingredient shine and achieve balanced near perfection. Portion sizes are generous for the proteins and the accompaniments are fantastic ( smudges of kewpie mayo and tweezed micro cilantro as well as a seaweed AND blue corn chips for the tuna and the harissa , heirloom tomato for the octopus. I love that the octopus is served in smoky barely charred slices instead of one longer tentacle. The temperature of the ingredients matter with the tuna cool but not icy and the octopus warmer than lukewarm but not by much. The warm harissa spices and room temp avocado make this my number one favorite version of this small plate that I almost always order when I see it on a menu at home in SF. , perfect ripe avocado ( just a little )and easter egg radishes shavings make the octopus shine! I was midway through the starters before I settled on a cocktail. My Lime Ricky was sweet, but not overpowering and the clear liquid looked deceptively plain. I love sparkles and for my mouth to pucker from citrus!I It was a fun aesthetic to have the one long ( phalic) ice cube and both a plump olive and a twist of lemon. The cocktail menu is in and of itself, a tiny book of whimsically and mischievously illustrated very short stories... made with "Gin Mare & Gin Mare Capri, clarified lime, lime cordial, soda water Bright - tart - force carbonated! " J'adore! I was tempted to cancel the shared signature burger and order another of each of the seafood starters, but it was the best burger I had had in years.. You can keep your crusty smash burgers. I love a medium rare, thick and juicy piece of meat. Again everything arrived to the table perfectly composed ( the bun was fantastic and branded( nice touch.)It was cut in half ( look at the cross section!) The french onion marmalade was sweet, acidic and gooey- thanks to the white cheddar cheese. It was a knife and fork situation for sure. French Fries were perfect, not thin, not too thick not overly salted and oh so crispy. The goldilocks fries of my future dreams. I kept a running joke with my kid that I was " the quietest girl in New York". He was amused, and even more impressed than I was ! His first night out at Valerie in NYC is going to be hard to beat!- even with tickets to the Yankees home opener and the musical version of his favorite book , " The Outsiders". The price tag for our night was reasonable at just over $100. Service was fantastic. Dave ( I think) was appropriately solicitous and very affable.

I visited Valerie on a Tuesday and was surprised by how busy it was! The atmosphere is definitely classy and has a great upscale vibe, though the seating felt a bit limited and not a ton of personal space. I ordered the Heritage Pork Chop (with confit marble potatoes and lollipop kale sprouts) and a cocktail. Both were good, and the pork was cooked well, but they didn't quite reach that "best ever" 5-star level for me. It's a solid 4-star choice for a stylish night out in Midtown, especially if you enjoy a lively crowd!

Valerie is one of the best cocktail bar and restaurant experiences in Midtown Manhattan. The space has a stunning Art Deco, Gatsby-style design that immediately sets the tone--elegant, lively, and perfect for a night out. The cocktail program is a standout, especially if you're into gin--they have an extensive selection and the drinks are both creative and well-executed. The food is equally impressive, with elevated American dishes that go beyond typical bar fare. What really makes Valerie shine is the atmosphere. It's vibrant and energetic without feeling overwhelming, making it great for everything from date nights to group dinners or even pre-theater drinks. The live jazz brunch on Sundays is also a huge highlight and adds a unique touch you don't find everywhere. Overall, Valerie strikes a rare balance--high-end but still approachable. Whether you're going for cocktails, brunch, or a full dinner, it's a consistently solid choice in NYC.

Service was meh to rude. When you come in it was all business suits. So as a tourist you get shuffled to the back. During afternoon only snacks are served. The drinks were ok. We have had better drinks in Greensboro NC when we hosted there. Interior was pretty cool but everything else was a little lack luster.

The beet and burrata salad was delicious. Loved the pistachios.
Melissa R.

We went to Valerie around 10 pm on a Sunday after a show as it was a short walk from our hotel. There appeared to be no seats at the bar. The hostess told us we could sit at the front window but that there would be no server and we'd have to go up to the bar to order. As my husband stood at the bar waiting to order, I spotted a table for 4 under the stairs. I mentioned it to the hostess who said they were saving that table for 4. Really? At 10:15? Ok, but she said there was one seat at the bar, and we could bring a second stool over. As I grumpily dragged a stool over, I briefly considered bailing and going to the restaurant next door. Fortunately, the food and kind bartenders at Valerie made up for the disinterested hostess. We ordered the beet and burrata salad which had a unique presentation. The burrata was separated into portions and so creamy. We also split a burger with truffle fries which was delicious. That, along with a glass of wine, made up for our unwelcome arrival.

Wanted a place w/ a vibe & beauty. & open later than most other restaurants plus good for a date. How we ended up here I do not know but ... so glad we did it is a food was great calamari on point oysters & dips & buns ( we got mad apps ). All was great I loved it. The drinks if you like gin & cocktails ooh yeahhhhh. All were awesome & I had quit a few. We had a big birthday mile store. & the vibe there was so nice so cool our waiter was the man we love it 5 stars for sure

Food/Service: This place had very delicious food and drinks. I got a pepperoni pizza, and it came with a burrata mozzarella cheese ball which was the best part ! It was delicious and the perfect size. Every bite felt like biting into a piece of heaven with how delicious it was, and if I could go and eat that right at this moment, I would! The drinks were strong and aesthetically pleasing. Location: The location was such a unique experience. The lights were a yellow fluorescent color, which made all the rooms look like you were in an old-time picture. I liked the uniqueness of this restaurant, but I'm not going to lie, I did get a little anxious because of the lighting, but that's more of a personal issue, lol. This place is definitely perfect for a special occasion or to grab some drinks with your friends. It's also somewhere you can dress up for, and it has so many different areas to take pictures. It's extremely aesthetic, and the location itself is so nice!Regarding parking, it's New York City, so I'd recommend taking an Uber to this location, or you can try garages or street parking. We took an Uber, so we didn't really worry about it, but they do not have private parking. Service: The service was great, very fast and attentive. Honestly, I have no complaints. Everything was so perfect, and I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Very good food and service was as expected. Caesar salad was tasty and the pork chop entree was very juicy. Just thought the flavor on it was a little one dimensional. Overall would definitely come back for a bite in the neighborhood!

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Easy to find if you know what you're looking for, if you arrive right at 5pm on a cold weeknight in the winter, you'll easily find a table or seat at the bar. Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.

We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way. It felt like a cocktail designed to be savored slowly. The music fit the mood perfectly, not too loud, just enough to give the room energy without killing conversation. Overall, it's a great spot if you want elevated drinks in a space that feels transportive without being pretentious.
