The Landing is a fantastic find near Penn Station. It has an upscale feel but is reasonably priced. I came here with my mom and we had such a great experience. The view is so nice. I ordered the Hibiscus Breeze Mocktail and the Crispy Fish Sandwich for lunch. The sandwich had two filets on it, so that plus fries was more than enough to eat. Service was 10/10. Matthew was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcomed. I would definitely come back next time I'm in the area. read more

I found myself at The Landing for an educational dinner. It had been a minute since I had been to one so I was looking forward to gaining some knowledge while checking out a restaurant that was new to me. The food and vibes from the pictures looked on, so I was excited to check it out. The Landing is located smack in the middle of Penn Plaza - steps away from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. In a way it's a great location, but I also found myself questioning life choices since I was walking in the thick of a high tourist area. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a multi-use building that has lounge space and a few other businesses. The restaurant is semi open with a modern aesthetic with medium wood tones and pops of Earth tones. As with other educational dinners I've been to, we had a prixe fixe menu. We were started with a Caesar salad which was pretty good. I appreciated the different types of lettuce they used, but they were too heavy on the breadcrumbs for me. The menu said croutons to maybe it was a last minute substitution? For my main I chose the chicken paillard which was pretty good. The chicken itself was a bit tough, but the salad atop of it was well dressed. We were also served sides of carrots and mashed potatoes which were both very good - honestly my favorite part of the meal. For dessert we were served an assortment of brownies and mini cheesecakes - seemed store brought, nothing outstanding. Service was pretty good, but overall I didn't find anything special about The Landing. I'm giving them grace for the food since I was there for an educational dinner, but nothing really piqued my interest enough to check this place out on my own. read more

The food here is absolutely amazing. We loved the lavender ricotta dip, French dip, salmon poke bowl, and tuna poke bowl. The drinks were incredible. The service was slow so be prepared if you're on your way to a show, concert, etc. Great ambiance. read more

Came here for lunch. If you are just putting in an address and trying to find this place, it is located inside of 1 Penn and just up the staircase that is there as soon as you walk in. Once upstairs, you are welcomed to a great location with a lot of natural light coming into nearly all the seating spaces. Though I did not think the taste was the greatest to start, I ended up really enjoying my TUNA & HAMACHI POKE - sushi rice, wasabi peas, pickled fresno pepper, avocado, radish, soy-lime vinaigrette. Service? Well, mostly absent. The place seemed slow, which made it more frustrating too. The food is brought out by food runners so that is not the problem. If you are in need of something else while you are eating, maybe you are going to end up waiting longer than you should. read more

Did not even know this place existed. Tucked within an office building at 1 penn plaza. Seems like a great after work happy hour spot. We went for dinner since I had to take the LIRR home. The staff was friendly and attentive. I really liked their selection of mocktails. The Arnold Palmer i got was not overly sweet and was refreshing. I got the chicken pillaird with crispy chicken. The portion size was perfect. Would come back read more

This place caters to business lunch meals, I assume located in Penn plaza. Upscale casual, variety of food on the menu and friendly staff. Prices are a bit expensive, the quality of food is very good though. I enjoyed my lunch! I had the salmon poke bowl and it was very filling. The salmon was fresh and I enjoyed the crunch of the wontons with it. I didn't want the extra starch but should have gotten the added rice for $3 as there was a lot of extra sauce on the plate. There was too much sauce without rice. The burrata appetizer was good as well. I liked the balsamic and strawberries with it. Convenient location for work lunch meetings! Chic and comfortable atmosphere. read more

***3 1/2 stars*** I've been to The Landing a few times now, primarily for drinks after work and once for a sit-down lunch. I've never had a bad experience here, but there's also nothing about this place that really pops or blows me away. Not necessarily a negative, and arguably it's good enough. The best part about The Landing is the location/convenience. I work in the building at Penn1, so this is literally just downstairs - if you're an office tenant, you can just take the elevator to the second floor "social stairs" area and walk over to it without even navigating the lobby traffic. I get the impression most of the clientele here is in the same boat as I am, which makes sense - if you're just walking by on the street, the signage isn't particularly prominent and your eyes are probably going to get drawn to something else anyway. It's usually packed here after work (probably other people in the building with the same idea), but they let you hang out on the social stairs outside of the restaurant and utilize their services from there. Their staff just walks around taking and providing orders. Very cool, and a smart way on their end to maximize business. I was most recently here this past Thursday evening for my department happy hour (everything tastes better on the company card). Despite an attempt around 4:30pm to grab a table, nothing was available so off to the steps we went, happy hour menu in hand. I ordered an Old Fashioned with Angel's Envy (my favorite bourbon, which thankfully has always been here when I've asked for it), and requested the Crispy Rice app, which is their version of tuna tartare with copious amounts of avocado and a few pieces of crispy rice to dip or eat off of. The Old Fashioneds are decent here and pretty straight-forward. There's an argument that for me all Old Fashioneds are graded on a curve if they have the Angel's Envy, but it was well made nonetheless. Maybe a TOUCH heavy on the bourbon but I'm nitpicking. The Crispy Rice is always a good time as well - I think they could benefit from including twice as many pieces of the crispy rice, which disappears almost instantly, leaving a large pile of the tuna tartare to play around with, but it is what it is. The fish and avocado are fresh, and that to me is the basic requirement of the dish. The service is usually pretty decent here. By definition, I think it's almost impossible to maintain a truly excellent level of hospitality during the time of the day/night when your staff has to be stretched very thin across half the second floor of the building basically, but it could be worse. A few times we were all looking around for a waitress to order additional drinks/apps but it was never an egregious amount of time and arguably inevitable with the setup. We had a few people assisting us, and I appreciated the fact that one of the waitresses (after receiving an app order technically after happy hour ended) told us the price was no longer applicable but that she didn't let us know ahead of time, so she was going to try to ensure we still got the deal. Classy and a pretty easy win for them. The Landing really benefits from the location in two ways - one is the aforementioned convenience factor if you're already in the building, but two is that you can avoid going outside and dealing with arguably the worst neighborhood in NYC. If that's not a win, I don't know what is. read more

A night out with friends is always a fun time. We had randomly picked this place- great choice! We walked in and there was loud music, which at first made us think we came to a club, but we found our way to be seated at a table. The music lowered enough in the background for us to relax and chat. We ordered several small dishes to share: beet hummus, Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, fries, and a meat and cheese board. All the plates were great. Our server was amazing, and always attentive. We'd definitely come back. read more

Good food, good drinks! Be prepared to spend though! Checked this spot out for some bites and drinks with my work team. This is definitely the go-to for corporate groups. It was pretty busy on a Thursday. It's on the 2nd floor in the Penn1 building. There's a lot of space! There's stairs with a huge TV in front, lounge seating, and dining seating. They had a live DJ playing good music. We easily got a reservation same day. The hostess and servers were nice and inviting. For drinks I tried the Morning Glory. It was so good I had 2. Very refreshing. We had apps to share, such as the Calamari and Hummus, and I tried the 8oz Sirloin Burger, medium cool. It was all delicious. The burger was especially flavorful. We all devoured the food and had a good time. I'd like to come back! read more

Went to a fantastic bar / lounge near MSG / Penn Station / Herald's Square today. It's called the Landing in 1 Penn Plaza, Manhattan, NYC. Second floor. Live music / DJ, no cover, and fantastic drinks and service. Cocktails run about $18 a pop. Upscale. Huge lounge area with big screens frequently with sports content. Comfortable seating and even areas to sit down with a laptop and take calls / meetings. Great area to chill while waiting for an event or train. Meet up place for friends or business. Bathrooms are unisex and super clean. I'll take photos next time. It's a hidden gem. Thank me later folks. read more

The Landing is mid. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, the options are very slim. It is 2025 and I don't know why restaurants are not catering more to this growing demographic of diners. The service can be quite slow and the food takes a while to come out. It is usually crowded around lunchtime with various office groups dining here. This restaurant is nothing special and there are other options around that are better, and who cater to all diet types. read more

For my corporate fellas, this is the happy hour hidden gem. Great for last minute reservations for when your partner comes into town and you suddenly have to plan a last minute dinner. Unique location, it's at Penn 1 on the 2nd floor. The interior is warm and classy. Great for a business lunch, dinner, or just drinks with coworkers/friends. I asked for a last minute reservation (2 hours before) for 17 people and they were so sweet and nice!! Got a res immediately. No minimum spend. Just show up. Ok now the food. Everything was so delicious, my coworkers were cleaning up their plates. Some things i tried: Cavatelli Bolognese: 11/10 and will be a craving of mine bc so good Branzino: skin. Crispy!! Fish meat, so tender!! White bean hummus: i didn't know hummus could be addicting Burrata: even the Burrata dish is unique?? They have crispy pork belly served with it and omg it was a 10/10. Def get their Burrata dish bc it's not your usual Anyway great vibes and my partners were impressed, so safe to say you can take your coworkers here read more

I wasn't planning to eat at The Landing from the beginning. After searching and this restaurant quite interesting so I give a chance to try. I came a bit early lunch time so when I got there was no customer. The host asked me if I wanted to get a table, but I just want to chill out and enjoy some snack, so I prefer to sit at the bar. The bartender was friendly and nice conversation. I had a little Gem Salad and a glass on Passion Elixir. It was a yummy snack. The place got busy during the time. I was glad I went early. They told me they close on weekend, that make sense because the area mostly office. read more

Really nice food, drink selections, and ambiance. The cod was very well-cooked--the skin was crispy and buttery, and the fish was perfectly flaky and tender. The alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink selections were also varied and creative. The virgin mango mule was well done. The restaurant was tastefully decorated with ambient lighting at both bar and table seating options. Waitstaff were attentive and responsive. read more

The 4 star is only because they close at 8:30. Would be a lovely place to chill out after a game at MSG or for a nightcap before commuting home. The service, delivered by Hannah, was great. They were friendly, pleasant, and good with their suggestions. The cocktails (Manhattan and Negroni) were spot on as well as the two wine selections to go with dinner. I had the pea soup and the salmon and my friend had the French dip. He left no trace of it on the plate, it was so good. I will definitely be back and could become a regular. read more

It's a very pleasant place to grab lunch. I had a salad that was very good. The waiters were friendly and professional. The only complaint I have is they play very loud music. I had two hours to kill at Penn Station and was in no mood for the usual fast food inside the station, so I went over to The Landing. I was really tired and cranky, so I requested a quiet table, and the manager, Lauren, was happy to oblige. The ambiance was chill and the surroundings were beautiful. Being a 68 year old native New Yorker, I was expecting the usual rude service and mediocre food that we all kind of get used to in midtown Manhattan. I was wrong. Lauren could not have been nicer or more professional. She checked on me several times and seemed genuinely thrilled that I really liked the lemon orzo soup and beet hummus that I ordered. All in all, a great lunch. Highly recommended, especially if you're killing time waiting for your train. Thanks, Lauren! read more

I came here for an event, so we had a waiter assigned to take our drink orders. He was attentive, gave recommendations, and checked on us. I tried the Farewell to Arms and OG. Both drinks were solid drinks that were balanced and had a punch to it. I preferred the OG since it was a tad bit sweeter. The atmosphere is nice with a fireplace and suede seating. It would be an ideal place for a date or as an event place since it isn't loud and you can actually hear each other talk, a rarity in nyc. read more

We enjoyed a much needed lunch here after a very long walk through the city. Comfortable, nicely decorated, very friendly staff. The shrimp cocktail was a stand out. The aioli that was served with it was incredible and saved for whatever else we could slather it on. The roast chicken was beautiful, I would choose the burger over the French dip next time. The doormen/security in the lobby were extremely rude and unprofessional. Just push by them and head to the second floor via the staircase read more

Amazing light in the space beautifully appointed, wait staff attentive. I dislike it intently when you order a dish and items are missing or substituted with something cheaper. I ordered a salad that was noted as having Asian pear and pecans and neither were there. No Asian pear and the pecan substitute was a roasted grain that looked like barley. Switching ingredients is more of a cheap deli move than a finer restaurant move. Didn't know Asian pears and pecans were so precious! Was a turn off. If you visit confirm before ordering read more

The older I get, the more friends of mine move to the suburbs and the harder we have to try to find a decent place for us all to meet up in midtown. The Landing largely solves that problem. Located inside the newly renovated 1 Penn Plaza, The Landing is a hip happy hour spot among commuters with a solid cocktail menu and pretty good food. If you're looking to not break the bank, definitely get here before 6 to take advantage of their discounted bites and sips. I loved the blood orange margarita I ordered (enough to keep ordering it after happy hour was over, which is saying something at $18 per cocktail). The oysters we had were fresh, and the white bean hummus was light, creamy and flavorful. Each day of the week has a different menu special. I was there on a Tuesday which was homemade pasta night, but the crabmeat special I had was lacking in flavor. The service here is absolutely top notch though. Walking into the space was a little overwhelming for me with tons of bar patrons crowding the entrance, but the hostess and waitress we had were super nice and very welcoming. It was great to feel taken care of! read more

Delightful place in the new and improved Penn Plaza for lunch. Came here for a bite even right before I went on Amtrak and would recommend checking this place if you have a few hours to kill before some travel. Great options on the menu for the new American and has something for everyone. The wine list is quite good as well and the service was incredibly thoughtful. I ended up with the merlot and the turkey club. The bread was delicious. The bacon was crispy and the sauce on the sandwich was truly delicious. It was also quite a big sandwich and I was very happy with the portion size. Other menu items were the squash soup, which was quite tasty, the shrimp po boy, which was also quite delicious and the ahi tuna bowl which looked absolutely delightful. I also enjoyed the lounge area just outside of the restaurant as well as it was a good landing point for weary travelers. read more

I was so surprised by the quality of food here. When I walked in to the lobby of this office building, I was expecting above average, ok food but overpriced, a place where you take clients but is mid overall. My table started with the White Bean Hummus and it was the best hummus I've had in my life. I don't know what made it so superior to all other hummuses. I also tried the burrata starter and salmon poke bowl. The burrata was delicious and juicy. The salmon poke bowl tasted very fresh and the avocado made it so creamy and delicious. The service was great and let us loiter when we were finished with our meal because there weren't people waiting. The ambiance is also nice as its in the lobby of a new Vornado building. read more

*** 4.5 stars *** Really 4 stars, but bumped up to 4.5 for being the best spot in the area. I am hesitant to write this review as the Landing is the only nice place for a sit down lunch or dinner near Penn Station and it feels like a great secret at this point. As is, you can show up for lunch without a reservation, but that may quickly change. The building is beautiful and also has an upscale takeaway spot on the first floor ("Office Hours"). Great, professional ambiance and vibe, this is the perfect spot for a business meal or meeting. I had the bento box which was a daily special. I was hesitant to order sushi from a non-sushi restaurant but my colleague assured me that everything at the Landing is good, and she was not wrong. It was a generous serving of food for the price, and the sushi was great. I've already booked my next professional lunch here and look forward to coming back! read more

We chose this restaurant because it is central, but mostly because it is fairly QUIET. We arrived an hour early only to hear live music! (An excellent duet) A fun open bar area with many seating options but def not quiet. But they stopped at 7pm and the dining area did become quiet. Drink prices were very high. Dinner prices reasonable. My wife and I shared the prime rib and also ordered a salad to share, and it was plenty. One of the guys ordered a pasta bowl and ate it all; my BIL ordered steak and took half of it home, so large portions. Service was good. Yes, I'll probably return! read more
