Tonight I came for dinner and it was my first time since they changed from Dolly Varden to Dolly! It feels like the exact same vibe with some menu changes. My favorite change being all day happy hour Monday-Friday! I had the HH cosmo and it did not disappoint! It was definitely on the smaller side, but worth it for $11. For my entree, I had the crispy chicken caesar and we split truffle fries. Truffle fries were 11/10! They tasted amazing and didn't even need salt or any dip. The salad was good, but it was with baby gem lettuce and sort of difficult to eat? I would have preferred it more chopped, but the flavor was great. There are weekday happy hour specials, plus Thursday martini specials. I had the dirty martini special and my friend had the margarita served in a boot glass (that boot glass looks like a huge portion! I'll have to try it next time!). For food I had the pesto chicken melt without the bread (didn't take a photo since it wouldn't look the same without bread) and it comes with fries or a salad. My friend had the creamy tomato bisque, which comes with a very large grilled cheese sandwich! Dolly's, as it's now called, has more of an upscale pub vibe. The music was louder and it felt a little less intimate, but would be fun for groups or a casual dinner. They still have a great menu with lots of enticing options. To start, we tried the roasted cauliflower. These were tender and buttery and complemented nicely by the beet puree. We also got the mac and cheese. It had large tube noodles and was hearty with a sharp cheddar cheese. For my main, I had the vegan chicken sandwich. The chicken was crispy and decently flavorful. Although we had so many options in the Theater District we chose a second visit to Dolly's for good food and drinks and our experience was spot on! The upstairs was warm and welcoming with the option of cozy booths, tables and a long bar. We chose the bar as we enjoy being in the midst of the buzz. I was looking for a new place to have my birthday dinner, and I decided on this restaurant. When I arrived at the restaurant, I informed them that my party size decreased, but it wasn't a problem. Alaina the host was very nice, she gave me two choices of where to sit, and I choose the table right by the entrance. I informed her that I saw two names for this restaurant when I was searching on the internet. She informed me that the restaurant recently changed its name. I liked the fact that I was able to be seated, while I waited for the rest of my party to arrive. The restaurant had all day happy, well it's named Yappy hour which was amazing on a Friday night. My brother and I decided on a martini flight. The presentation was nice and it was a good way to try several drinks for one price. My mom and sister had Margaritas in the boot glasses. Visited on a December Saturday night before a radio city music hall show and was surprised at how empty it was. The space is well decorated and provides a cozy atmosphere. There's a decent menu with a variety of options, we chose the strawberry cornbread, wings, burger, shrimp&grits and friend chicken along with espresso martinis. Everything from the drinks to the food was flavorful and delicious with decent portions. Service was a little slow and inattentive with everyone from the bartender to seemingly the host taking care of us and 1 other patron during our time. In the end we had to flag someone down to get us our check since we hadn't been checked on even after having our plates cleared and one item wrapped up. As you can see from my previous review, I've been a fan of Dolly's for a number of years. However, I wouldn't recommend trying to book a large party there. I was able to make an initial reservation for the private room at the top of the stairs, but once the number of guests exceeded the room size, I was told I needed to speak to a manager about a different space in the restaurant. I left THREE MESSAGES for a manager, and called additional times as well. No one ever called me back! So I cancelled the reservation and am going to a restaurant that is more respectful of my time, and actually seems to want my business. What a shame. read more

The high top chairs were really tall for some reason and I was having trouble getting on. It would have been nice if these chairs had a back in them. Our server came over right away to get our drink orders. He was very friendly but seemed quite busy since he was taking care of all of the tables on the lower floor. Therefore, we didn't really see him during the meal until we paid. A good part about the service though is that we did receive our food and drinks very quickly. I started off with a pear lemonade mocktail which was very tasty. I really enjoyed the pear purée (I think?) that was in there. The granular texture was surprisingly a great addition. For food we split a few items: DEVILED EGGS: Tasty appetizer! LOADED TATER TOTS: The tots were fried well but definitely could have been crispier. The toppings themselves were ok but they felt incomplete. Like the flavor was a bit flat. SHORT RIB RAGU: It was fine. The flavor of the short rib did not feel like it was braised enough. The flavor felt like it could have been stronger. It just felt a little bland compared to other short rib ragus I've had around the city. Additionally, the cherry tomatoes overpowered the flavor of the ragu itself. All in all, an ok experience with nice drinks; however, the food was unfortunately pretty average. read more

I stopped in here with my colleagues after work and we were not disappointed. we were seated quickly choosing an outdoor seat in their little train car dining area. I found out that the restaurant name has something to do with the train car so we should ask about the history. We all ordered different dishes. I had the elevated short rib grilled cheese. It was perfectly crisp on a thick cut toasted bread with the inside soft and gooey from cheese and tender short rib. The sandwich delivered on flavor. We did not go upstairs so I have no idea what it looks like but the downstairs is very small and rather tight, but I do love the decor. I got the 'Pinky Tuscadero' to drink which was vodka, strawberry, rhubarb, lemon. This wasn't my favorite drink, but it was okay. We shared the 'Dolly Cheese Board' which had gouda manchego, irish - cheddar port, seasonal fruits, honey, bacon jam, housemade flatbread and we added Salami for an additional $5. They did forget to give us the flatbread, and to be honest... we did not see it listed. Finally when they asked if we wanted more bread and we were very confused and we all realized no one got the bread. They did finally give us the bread which was very good but would have been nice to have with the whole cheese board. Overall, the service was fine. They were fairly quick, and friendly. But the food and drinks were overall just okay. I would give it a 3.5. I personally wouldn't be back but I do think it's fun to check out. read more
