Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, I was lead to this great spot for a late dinner and cocktails on a Friday night. The hostess was really friendly and quicky sat us at a two seater near the bar, which we appreciated. The ambiance was light and friendly and they even had a DJ playing all the good jams! I think I danced a bit, (definitely liquid courage). The DJ read the room and created a fun ambiance. The waitress came over a few minutes later and quickly took our drink and meal order. We ordered the Tuna Crispy Rice ( Yum), Guinness Wager Sliders (Nom Nom), Korean Chicken Boas (My Favorite!) and Carnitas Tacos.....I'm embarrassed to admit that we cleaned our plates like a couple of savages. Bartley Dunnes is a great choice to come solo, meet up with friends or come as a group of no more than 4, unless you make a reservation. They have a second floor that I unfortunately didn't get a chance to check out, so I can't write about that. However, I did see people coming and going straight up. I'll be back! read more

Stopped by Bartley Dunnes for a few happy hour drinks before heading to Museum of Modern Art for an event. They have a great happy hour running from open until 8 PM, including $6 beers and $8 cocktails, which is a great deal for the area. ordered the Bartleys Spritz (Aperol Spritz) and a Tequila Mule. We sat at the bar, which runs about half the length of the space, and there were also plenty of tables throughout. The back section of the bar feels a bit separated from the main entrance area. There are some TVs throughout, and everything inside seemed fairly new and well maintained. It was not very crowded on a Tuesday early evening, so service was quick and the staff was very friendly. We did not order food this time, but everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great. Came here for Cinco de Mayo, easily made same-day reservation. Arrived 1.5 hrs early and sat at the bar while waiting for the rest of my party. The ambiance and service were amazing. The host was very kind and the bartender who had taken our order at the bar quickly noticed the waiter had given us the wrong fries at first and got us the correct item. We wanted to experience happy hour on both floors (there's a speakeasy upstairs) and the bartender downstairs was kind enough to transfer our bill upstairs. I have to give a shout out to Archie. One of the best bartenders I have interacted with. He hails from Ireland and knows how to make a perfect drink every time. If you are looking for a good Guinness or a freshly made cocktail, this is the place for you. Service was a bit slow and we had to wave our waiter down but she was friendly and nice. This is the first time I've ever seen anywhere serve an Irish spicy box so we had to try! My 5 stars is for their Irish Spice Box alone - it's so flavorful and the added Irish Curry is chefs kiss. If that's not enough, they pour a good Guinness ($10). For the most part that's about all I've had here, but I've been on two or three occasions now. If the spice box (crispy chicken, peppers, onions, curry, fries, and aioli) was a little lower in price ($23), I'd be here a lot more often. The good thing is it's a decent size so you can split it into two meals. And if you're nice, they might give you some extra Irish Curry to take home - that stuff is gold. They have a pretty good sized menu but I can't say that I've tried anything else because once I find something I like, I get it over and over, especially when it's been a good amount of time since the last visit. Bartley Dunnes has some pretty cool vibes. Very funky, posh and musically-themed. It is very dim-lit and offers a pretty large variety of food options. Their drinks, while insanely priced, are soo good! I had the Only Fans cocktail and loved it so much that I had to get a second. For my meal I ordered the hot honey chicken sandwich and really enjoyed it. The service wasn't exactly friendly but she was always around when we needed her... especially when we realized that we mixed up the time for our show and had 10 minutes to pay and run to the theater. I came here for a Sunday brunch with my friend and this place just presses all the right buttons when it comes to an American spot. The nachos were well balanced with the chili and gave us 2 sunny side eggs upon request. The fries were very crispy and salted well. And the chicken & waffles were a well balanced of sweet and fruity. The grilled cheese bites had one of the better cheese strings I've seen in a long time and the soup dip made it so delicious! And this place was already decorated well for the Christmas season while having some football on the TV screens. Visited here on a Sunday for brunch around 12pm (had reservations) and it was a great experience. Surprisingly not many people. Our table really enjoyed the brunch pizza, so unique and flavorful. Was very happy to stumble upon this place on Yelp when I was looking for a place for brunch one Sunday. The fact that it's across the street from my apartment made it even better. This location has an odd history...when I first moved into the neighborhood it was Oldcastle, and there was a little turret outside and they had amazing buffalo chicken sliders. Then that closed and it became Copper John's, and that was just so-so. Fast forward to 2023 and I re-discover this place and it's definitely the cream of the crop! We came early on a Sunday and it was not crowded, although it filled up by the time we left. We started with cocktails and they were universally amazing. Kudos to the bartenders. I had a rye old fashioned, which was perfect. My husband had More than a Teeling and Raspberry Beret. Both were great. Our friend had an Only Fans. Everyone raved about the drinks so put this place in your rotation for cocktails ASAP. The food was also great. I had a southern chicken sandwich...now, having survived four years living in Alabama, I have struggled to find truly Southern food here in NYC. I would not say the sandwich reminded me of Tuscaloosa but what I will say is that it's one of the best chicken sandwiches I ever had. It was cooked perfectly with crisp breading and it had a deep, almost smoky flavor that was incredible. Even though I was full, I had an Oreo cheesecake for dessert which was also outstanding. Service matched the terrific food, with everyone being friendly and efficient. The playlist was great, too, with a good mix of older funk and R&B mixed with some newer stuff. I reserved Girl Dinner (bottomless with 2 tapas per person) for my birthday for a group of 9 1-2 weeks beforehand, which was easy. They allowed us to sit before everyone got there. The rules for bottomless are that everyone in the group has to do it. It's 90 minutes and everyone must end at the same time. A person can only have 1 drink at a time. We were seated upstairs and the bathroom was nearby but there was only 1 stall. Christmas decor was up and pretty. The tapas were cheese heavy, but they tasted good. Fries were very crunchy. The truffle Mac and cheese croquettes and bang bang shrimp were delicious. With our big group we got to try a lot and shared. They were filling. The tables are a bit small so we tried to proactively clear plates. All the drinks were also sweet, fruity, and tasty. I mostly got the Gin Bramble. We got two free shots as well. They have a 90 min girls dinner where you pick 2 tapas and you get a selection of 4-5 mixers. The choices of the tapas are subpar but not much expected from a bar. I had margarita and some drink called peach something lol. I thought I had made a reservation for their upstairs Speakeasy which is called Fernando's Hideaway @ Bartley Dunnes. My friend and I were able to go upstairs, but we sat at the bar. Upon, going upstairs the ambiance is darker, cool little decor in Fernando's hideaway. It was a packed Friday night when I went there. I ordered a smash burger along with fries then I had a delicious cocktail. The restaurant was in walking distance from the hotel where I stayed at. If, you're wanting to be at the Fernando's Hideaway Speakeasy call for that reservation or out the reservation in for upstairs online.
