Stopped by Alfie's after dinner for a quick drink and had a good time at this gastropub! They have a wide range of drinks from different draft beers to cocktails, snacks to actual entrees. As a cocktail girlie, I got myself a Toasted Dream which is really just a spiked hot chocolate. I do like how the alcohol comes through. Its sweet and creamy as expected; I also appreciated how the marshmellows were toasted enough on the outside without overly melting on the inside. The table next to us got mac and cheese which looked super yum and smelled tasty. It was semi busy on a cold Friday night but my party of 4 was able to get seated quickly. You just need to bring good company with you. There is indoor and outdoor seating. They have simple yet decent happy hour drink selections. Their current Smash Burger Lunch Special is a no brainer. The meal comes with a decent sized burger that is pretty darn delicious, fries, and a selected beer. Yelp's a little gracious with 4 overall stars here. Basic food, nothing crazy, some flavors bad or extremely plain. Overpriced. $20-22 for any dish. I got the eggs Benedict. Good poached eggs over ham and a waffle. Waffle was new to me. The salad with it was so plain and even bitter. The Nutella pancake is nothing crazy. The size looks great but it was very simple. I think their hamburger might be the best hamburger I've ever had. It was their specialty burger, which came with everything. Had two drinks because it was happy hour. My friend and I shared the cauliflower appetizer and it was fantastic. I almost didn't have room for my burger. The personnel were so accommodating and nice. The best surprise besides for their delicious hamburger was that the noise level was moderate, and I was able to have an easy conversation with my friend instead of having to shout. Alfie's is great, but what keeps me coming back is the daytime bartender (who's name I won't leave for her privacy,) who I see on Thursdays and Fridays. I managed to snag some MJ the Musical tickets and Alfie's was the stop before show time. We literally just stumbled in as we were walking towards the theatre. I scanned the menu quickly and noticed they had happy hour and a turkey burger and that worked perfectly for me. We entered and were seated right away. The place was actually quite bustling for a cold NYC Wednesday night in January. With the place full it can feel tight getting through and not very comfortable while seated. Nonetheless service was attentive, when possible. I ordered an Old Fashioned and that Turkey Burger that caught my eye accompanied by sweet potato fries. My meal was basically ok. Had a burger, it was juicy! Drink was ok. Staff was friendly. I'd possibly come here again. One thing that did stand out to me was someone walking in the restaurant with their dog. I thought dogs were not allowed INSIDE eating establishments in NYC. I know that restaurants with outdoor seating have a different arrangement. I was just taken aback that someone casually walked in with their dog ( on a leash) and staff said nothing. The dog was fine for the most part, but did jump up on a stool. I'm guessing things have changed post-pandemic and establishments are more lax about enforcing NYC protocols, but it does pose a problem if you have allergies. Anyway, this might not seem like a big deal for many and perhaps for dog owners this is great for them to know they can walk in with their dog, no problem. read more

I was here with two friends this past Saturday around 5pm and there were plenty of seats. The service was courteous and fast. We all got a draft from their happy hour menu and shared a few dishes. The best was the fried cauliflower... truly divine. Super soft inside and crunchy out. You simply must get it. Then we shared the pulled pork sliders. Although the meat could have been warmer, they were solid. Last, we had the NY Soppressata flatbread, which definitely needed some salt but was otherwise pretty good. The ambiance was relaxed and not loud, but we also were there early, so I'm not sure how it gets there later in the evening. A solid gastropub with plenty of yummy options to eat. Alfie's is a Hell's Kitchen staple and I enjoy going for an evening drink or for their brunch menu. They do a pretty affordable bottomless in case you are looking for a fun morning, and the food doesn't disappoint like many bottomless places do. The restaurant can get pretty packed depending on the weekend, and I've been able to walk in before and get a table but also had times where the wait has been close to an hour. I would recommend making a reservation a day or two in advance just in case, though if you're in the neighborhood it's worth a shot to try walking in. The menu is filled with eclectic items and fun fusion experiments. All the food portions are hefty and you'll probably have some leftovers to take home. The short rib hash is delicious: the meat is tender and the wine sauce really complements the flavors of the dish. It's definitely very rich and heavy, though, so if you're looking for something lighter I wouldn't recommend this. My friend loved her grilled chicken sandwich and the chicken was not dry at all. The chicken and waffles was huge, and tasted great with a heavy douse of the bourbon syrup. Definitely check this place out! read more

A surprisingly poor performance for bar food. We came here to watch the Euros and have a quick bite and drink alongside. The beers were solid but not much different than other bars you'd find around NYC. What really stood out though was the food quality. I got the chicken and waffles that was far from what I expected. The waffle was flavorless while the syrup added a strange sour taste to the dish. The fried chicken wasn't any better either, as it was slightly dry and also not well seasoned. I am usually one to not waste food, but I could not finish even half of my dish. I'm sure some of the other items are decent as others have found this place quite good. At a minimum, I would avoid the chicken and waffles. read more

The place looks basically like a bar from the 1980s (may be) but the vibe is not the 1980 it is hip but they are paying the homage to the Hell's Kitchen and its roots. The Irish fare is very much Irish but you still get the Avocado Toast and Croque Madame on the menu but the Eggs and pancakes and Country Ham do this place justice. During mid-day on the week days, I think they have happy hour deals on drinks. Unfortunately, not for food. PARMESAN TRUFFLE FRIES - 14 While you're paying 14.00, know that you're about to get a huge basket of thick fries. The fries are generously topped with lots of parmesan and rosemary. Each order comes with ketchup and some aioli/creamy sauce. I don't have high standards for fries, so I eat and will continue to eat them even if they're not great. The fries came out piping hot so I'm glad to enjoy some fresh fries. Unfortunately, they were on the soggy/flimsy side and I wish they were crispier and held their shape better. They tasted great with both sauces -- couldn't tell which one I liked more. Regardless, my friend and I enjoyed catching up while munching on fries. The servers here are attentive and refilled our waters whenever we ran low. Alfie's is definitely a nice, convenient friend for those in Hell's Kitchen! read more

They have happy hour food which in the city is so rare so giving 4 stars solely for that reason.
