Came here on a Sunday afternoon in late March, when the sun is just starting to come out again, but there's still a crispness to the air. They had outdoor seating along 9th ave and 51st street. We sat inside at a hightop , along their big open windows of 9th; great in between of inside and outside. Plenty of options for a big or small group, or solo! Our server was McKenna, who was incredibly attentive, we never felt like we were waiting or had to wave anyone down. The food came quickly, and was great. Nothing that changed our lives, but hot, quick, and delicious. I can see this becoming a regular spot for when we can't decide on where to go and just want somewhere dependable and consistent. Inside is like a typical Irish pub: long bar, wood everywhere, comfy high tops and booth seating along the wall. Keep in mind that it is a sports bar with TVs everywhere, so they will be playing the major sport of the season. The volume isn't too loud though, enough to hear, but don't need to cover your ears. The bottomless option on the weekend is great, 2-3 drinks and you get your money's worth. The bloody's are good quality, with a good bite of Tabasco and horseradish (I prefer that!) and the mimosas are bubbly forward (they're not skimping you with mostly OJ). The food prices for brunch aren't crazy either. Selection is a bit limited, but seeing as this is a pub/tavern, I think they have a pretty good mix. Overall, would absolutely recommend. If you have a big group, have some common sense and book a reservation, but likely able to do walk-ins for small groups, couples, or singles easily. Food is good, service was great. Management is horrible. I have been frequenting this restaurant for a long time. I noticed recently that there was a $2 transaction fee added to my bill. This was not a credit card fee (that I can understand). It is a "transaction fee" that is applied to all invoices. Are you kidding me! I have no trouble paying a an extra dollar for a burger. But if you try to rip me off by sneaking in extra charges, I will never come back. You just lost a regular customer over a $2 charge. read more

First, the positives: the waitresses were very kind and helpful! The food and drink I got was very good, and the clientele were very fun. Now the negatives: $24 for fish and chips and I got two short fish strips pictured below, SUPER overpriced. The water in the bathroom sink was boiling hot so I couldn't wash my hands without scalding them. The volume on the TVs was super low during the Bad Bunny Halftime Show meaning no one could hear anything (even after multiple people yelled multiple times to turn it up). My gawd, I love Sunday brunch. I think I've been to almost every brunch spot in manhattan, and the unfortunate thing is that the good ones are few and far in-between. Jasper's is definitely one of the few that gets it right. I also bring friends and family to do brunch as well and it's always a hit. I love the 90 minute bottomless drinks because I need it to help my hangover from the previous night. And I drink like a fish. So this is a win in my book. I get the blood mary but always ask for it to be spicy and they take that as a challenge and pulverize me, which I love! The food here is great too. I always get the chicken and waffles. It's the bees knees. The velvet waffle is absolutely gorgeous and I feel bad for eating such an artistic masterpiece. The service is always fast and friendly, especially in Hell's kitchen where I'm a dude. Great spot for a late night happy hour! Jaspers has happy hour starting at 11 every night... even weekends! My friends and I popped in here last night. It was busy, but we got a table right away. I had a moscow mule which was on happy hour for $9. It was delish and a good deal for sure. We also split the nachos. I thought they were good, but I prefer nachos with cheese, not cheese sauce. I would definitely come back for their happy hour! I like that they have multiple options, not just well drinks/beer/wine. read more

While the Taphouse side of this Hell's Kitchen spot (Jasper's Taphouse + Kitchen) is decent and even pleasant, some of the food the "Kitchen" delivers is from hell - the fish and chips, honestly the worst I have ever eaten. Serving fish and chips of this bottomless quality is unacceptable. More specifically: the fried fish arrived in two tiny pieces and was completely inedible. The coleslaw was served in a tiny container and was poor as well. We also ordered salad and guacamole that was depressingly bad. The fries were okay. The spinach omelet was fine. The coffee was subpar. This place markets itself as a "Taphouse + Kitchen," but while the bar side may pass, the kitchen clearly needs major improvement. read more

Five stars for the amazing craft beer selection (all drafts are domestics, and are changing constantly), and three stars for the OK food puts Jasper's at a perfect 4 in my book. The staff here are awesome, and are friendly in providing tastes of whatever you'd like before committing to a purchase. They have a sweet happy hour M-F till 8pm, so we scored ourselves some cheap drafts before our late volleyball game that same night. We came back here to eat, and unfortunately, their food doesn't nearly live up to the snuff as their brews. Fries were super salty, and the "warm pretzels with beer cheese" could have VERY easily been mistaken for a frozen/reheated soft pretzel with some cheapo cheese dip and a hint of parmesan cheese. Nearby Pony Bar definitely gets my vote for top notch food AND drink, but with the happy hour special and plenty of great beers to choose from, Jasper's is still a worthy contender. read more

Such fun! The service was great! Inside was adorable! We sat outside though. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip that came with chips & crudités however there was hardly any vegetables at all. I asked for more but they charged me! I had the Cobb salad - it was delicious! I couldn't even finish it. It needed more dressing but I was afraid to ask or I'd be charged. Good afternoon--or rather, good day. This is my second time at Jasper's, and today, the service--right from the moment I walked in--has been horrible. It is such a shame to see that the standard of service in the hospitality industry has declined so much. When I arrived, the bartender merely cleared away some glasses and silverware; she never wiped down the bar, didn't welcome me, didn't offer me a drink, and didn't ask what I wanted to eat. The only thing she asked was how I wanted my chicken wings prepared. The margarita on the rocks was terrible; as for the boneless wings, the chicken itself was flavorless, and the carrots were dry. Honestly, the whole experience was abysmal. She didn't engage with her customers or talk about the basketball game that was on; she only mentioned to other patrons that she wanted to leave so she could go enjoy her day off. Frankly, they really ought to train their staff better--such abysmal service is exactly why so many places end up going out of business. Okay pub-style place - probably decent for drinks, but maybe not the best for an actual meal. I ordered the Poutine - the menu photo was quite misleading, as the actual dish was literally just a big mound of fries, with some small beef cubes (the photo had much bigger pieces) and a few cheese curds. The fries were very standard, not even that special. $18 was not really worth it when it was just glorified fries. The restaurant itself is decorated in a classic pub style with a bar and other table seating indoors and outdoors. The staff are very friendly and the service speed is fair. It is a bit loud with the music inside, which adds to the dim pub atmosphere. Overall, if you're looking for a sit-down meal place, Jasper's has okay food options. Changing to 2 stars The ambiance is alright, just a chill little corner bar. It stays busy, and I can see why - the beers are only $8-10 each and the location is close to subway lines. The problem is the wings are called "famous" and they're breaded :::insert puke emoji here::: Breaded wings are a disgrace outside of Korean restaurants. They're heavy, oily, and upset the stomach. I just finished eating and my stomach is in knows. Giving 3 stars for the service (3/5) and the local beer selection (3/5). Wings are 2/5 because the chicken is actually decent quality. I'm giving Jasper's a five-star rating because of its service and splendid cocktails. I gotta say that the service during my three visits was quite exceptional and very prompt. Now, I wish that I learned the servers' and bust boys' names so I could give them a shoutout. Although Jasper's has a decent cocktail menu, I stuck to one type of cocktail during each visit. I don't remember the names of the cocktails, but I enjoyed the watermelon juice and gin (visit #1), the blueberry Manhattan (visit #2), and passionfruit margarita (visit #3). I cannot comment too much about the food, because I pretty much ordered an appetizer to meet the adult-beverage-with-food-COVID requirement. Our impromptu victory celebration for President-elect Biden's win yesterday led us to this bar as our second stop in Midtown. And it turned out to be a really good decision. We loved their setup outside where each socially-distant and divided table had a huge TV setup so we were looking around for a table and then the manager/owner saw us and immediately offered us this large table inside but still open air so it was perfect as we continued to cheer outside. We were also surrounded with huge TVs from every point of view! We really enjoyed it, especially when we got to watch the first speeches of our newly elected leaders. They also made sure they turned up the volume during that part, we very much appreciated it! Drinks wise I stuck to mango margarita but it wasn't mango-ish, but that's fine, it was strong, plus all my friends definitely enjoyed their drinks and kept it coming! Food was actually really good! We were impressed by the Buffalo wings (will come back just for this! They definitely get it right!). The nachos were also good and friends enjoyed the chicken sliders. Just kind of landed on this place before a trip over to the Intrepid I had a pint and the steak tacos and that was a nice little meal, even though they were 3 small ones, with a small side of guac. Got some food as well-- steak tacos and calamari, both pretty good, especially the tacos. Ugh. I really wanted to like this bar, but it wasn't a great experience. We went for after theater drinks and snacks. It was a group of 5 of us who went around 9:30 PM after seeing Wicked. There were plenty of tables inside, so we didn't have a hard time getting a table. The wait staff is friendly. We ordered from their signature cocktail list. My hubby got the Second Chance and the server recommended the Pineapple Daquiri for me. My two friends got margaritas -- one plain, one mango. Off the bat, the drinks weren't great. I know we're in Manhattan, so prices are expected to be higher, but for $15 I would expect for these to have a bit of alcohol. Universally we all agreed all drinks tasted watered down. The margaritas had a chemical taste that made it seem like they used a mix instead of making it themselves. The second chance tasted overwhelmingly smokey and nothing else. We were highly disappointed and thus didn't order a second round. The food we ordered was also mixed in quality. The poutine fries were delicious (tho small), and we devoured that little cast iron pan of deliciousness in less than 10 mins lol. I recommend this!! We also got an order of 20 wings. The price was nice, but they were severely overcooked and dry. I guess we were hungry, so we ended up finishing the wings. We came to this place to grab some drinks and food prior to seeing a Broadway show. They had a nice drink menu and large beer selection. My girlfriend and I tried 2 different IPA beers, and we enjoyed them both. Then, after reading such good reviews of the wings for this place, we ordered an order of wings (buffalo style). They were nice and crispy and delicious. Just the way I like my wings. They also came with some blue cheese dressing and carrots/celery on the side. The chicken meat itself was very tasty, too, and this is why the wings were so good. Great meat quality. After another round of beers, I decided to order a burger with sweet potato fries. I split this with my girlfriend, and we both enjoyed the burger, possibly even more than the wings. It was nice and juicy and melted in your mouth. The fries were amazing as well, as we ate them all. Love some good, sweet potato fries. Everything was very good here. And the prices were not too bad for the city. The atmosphere of the bar was nice and relaxed, too, as they did not rush us to leave. At the moment, Jasper's is temporarily closed. And it's very sad. The place had one of the best outdoor set ups for the pandemic. It was great for sports watching (they had plenty of outdoor TVs. Their outdoor set up was open, yet blocked you from the wind and elements. They could accommodate both groups up 2 and slightly larger groups of 4 or 6 if needed. Plexiglass was set up between the tables and the tables were nicely spaced. The staff were always wearing masks. They had the inside set up as well, but I didn't take advantage. I only saw it in passing on the way to the bathroom. The staff was super amazing and attentive. The service was quick. They did an amazing job when they were open. I've been there for midday drinks, "after work" drinks, and brunch during this whole thing. Jasper's is right down the street from me, so it was my local spot. They never disappointed. The food and drink: Beer - it's beer Spiked Apple Cider - amazing and perfect for those cooler days Pretzel bites - we delicious and came with a cheese sauce Fries - delicious and well seasoned Huervos Rancheros - made with tostadas, but so so good. It didn't get soggy, the chorizo was perfect, the egg was also well executed. I can see how my friend gets this every time even though there are a bunch of delicious sounding brunch dishes. At this point, I would also get this every time. It was so good and comes with a size of breakfast potatoes that were also super delicious. Bottomless mimosas - great service as our glass was never empty. TLDR: I'm sad their currently closed, but this place was amazing and made you feel like it wasn't a pandemic (except for the safety measures).
