Smithfield Hall is conveniently right around the corner from me so I decided to check it out for the first Patriots game of the NFL Season, which happened to be on at the same time as the US Open Men's Finals that my friend wanted to watch. I was told at the door that there were two "sides" inside and if we wanted to be able to watch both things at once, our best bet would be outside. They have TVs facing out so that you can see them from the outdoor tables. The ambiance and vibe inside and outside were completely different. Outside it was pretty chill while inside it was rowdy, crowded and loud. I was happy to be seated outside, even though it was a bit less lively. The die hard people seemed to be indoors if not for the reason there was no way to hear sound for the TVs outside (I put the game on my phone and put one airpod in to hear the sound). Outside there are maybe 6 (covered) picnic tables in street and 4 high tops on the sidewalk. You conveniently order and pay for all food and drinks via a QR code. Initially I grabbed an open picnic table but the TVs are "owned" by the table in front of them and we could only call dibs on what would be shown on one TV. Kevin was awesome and directed us to a high top that had two TV's right in front of it so that we could call dibs on so that we could watch both the US Open and the Patriots Game. They have a lot of game day specials and prices are very reasonable. There's a big beer menu as well as cocktails, wine, etc. I opted for a topo chico with tequila (upgraded to patron) and had the chicken panini. The fries were excellent and I ate all of them despite my intent not to. The panini came on a pita like bread which was great because it wasn't too bready. I was very happy and pleasantly surprised how good the food was. I'm a fan! Tip: Bring bugspray if you sit outside because I was eaten alive.

Go catch the game here! It's a true football "soccer" pub. Has ton of tvs great food and drink. It's big and the staff are very nice. Our server Hannah was outstanding ! It does fill up quickly with locals so go early

We were staying at a hotel down the street and decided just to walk and see what kind of restaurants we could find. We stumbled upon this place because of how cute the outside seating was. The menu is a lot of bar food but very good bar food! We ended up going again on another day we were in town.

Found this spot down the block from my hotel.. Walked in and got seated asap.. Fast service.. Jammed pack during the lunch on a weekday due to the soccer match was on.. Plenty of tvs, fast service, full bar and plenty of space.. Food was good, nothing too special just something quick and lite to eat before I got on my flight.

I ordered fish and chips, and the taste was fine. However, the waiter never brought me a glass of water. When I arrived, the security insisted on checking my ID, even though I told him I was only there for food, not drinks. Strangely, he let three other people in without checking theirs. After I finished eating, they added a 20% gratuity to the bill without informing me. I didn't want to argue, so I put down $30 and asked for the bill. Three different waiters saw my request, but all of them ignored me. I waited for five minutes, got frustrated, and finally left 25 bucks with the bill before walking out. It felt like they treated me differently, possibly because I'm a tourist or Asian.

A bit pricey, good Wait staff. Very attentive to the guests. The kitchen was a little open pretty late and we had no problems getting food at 11:30 PM. Very loud, not a good place to have soft conversation with a friend. Younger crowd for sure.

Came here to watch Premier League soccer on a Saturday morning. We were a party of 5 and got lucky getting a table as many tables were reserved. We only got beers and got served quickly. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because of service. We asked the waitress 5 times for cups of water as when we were seated they did not give us enough glasses for the whole party. They also refused to change one of the televisions to the match we wanted to see even though 95% of the televisions had the same game on. There are plenty of bars to watch these matches and this one did not impress.

Ask the Community - Smithfield Hall

Are happy hour specials still being offered?

Wondering what's going on now with the staff while on quarantine?

Hi there, not sure I understand your question, can you elaborate?

    Are reservations accepted/recommended?

Hi! We're in town for a week and are trying to find a place to watch some football, will you be showing any NFL games on Sunday? (October 7)

Great for Game watching. They have multiple Screens

Your bar came up as dog friendly, is that correct?

Hi Karl, not sure why that is but it is against NYC Department of Health code so we can’t allow pets I’m afraid

Are you an FC barcelona bar?

Penya Barcelona NYC is one of the clubs that calls Smithfield Hall home.

Hi! Will you be showing the Superbowl tomorrow? Do you accept reservations?

We will be showing the Super Bowl of course. We are no less beer taking reservations but we will have tables available first-come, first-serve. We hope to see you at Smithfield Hall.

Hi, will you be showing the Yankees game tonight with sound?

    Indeed we will.

Will you guys be showing the mcgregor-mayweather figjt tonight with sound?

Hi Steven, yes we will be showing the fight with sound. It's a $30 cover at the door. We hope to see you at Smithfield Hall.

How would this place be for the Kentucky Derby this afternoon?

Well we'll definitely be showing it with sound and we're expecting a decent crowd.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with champagne, which immediately set the tone for a special evening. Our server, Daniel, was beyond amazing. He was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making our anniversary meaningful. It never felt forced just thoughtful, polished hospitality. The team went above and beyond when we brought our wedding cake (which had been frozen for a year). Not only did they accommodate it without hesitation, they helped decorate and present it beautifully you would have thought it had been baked that same day. It was such a touching moment for us, and they handled it with care and enthusiasm. As for the food: incredible. The steak tartare was perfectly balanced and beautifully prepared. The tuna was fresh and vibrant. And the Beef Wellington... honestly one of the best I've had in New York City. Perfectly cooked, rich, elegant, and absolutely worthy of a celebration dinner. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance: romantic, warm, refined but relaxed. It felt special without being stiff. If you're looking for a place to celebrate something meaningful, this is it. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the décor and ambiance. Every corner has been thoughtfully designed with incredible attention to detail, creating one of the most unique and immersive bar experiences I've ever had. The level of intention behind the design is truly second to none. The cocktails were outstanding-creative, beautifully balanced, and expertly crafted. Every drink felt purposeful and showcased real talent behind the bar. Despite the venue being absolutely packed, the service remained warm, personal, and genuinely attentive. Bartender Juan was exceptional, and manager Andrii led by example with true hospitality. I initially had a seat that wasn't ideal, and without me saying a single word, they noticed. As soon as a better seat became available, they proactively offered to move me. That simple gesture spoke volumes about their awareness and commitment to guest experience. It's easy to deliver great service when a room is half empty. It's much harder when every seat is full, and that's exactly when this team shined the brightest. Bravo to the entire Oscar Wilde Bar team, especially Juan and Andrii. Experiences like this remind me why genuine hospitality is an art. I can't wait to return.

I'm going to quickly get to the downside because there are a lot of minuses with this bar. The beer is grossly over-priced. Ridiculously over-priced and most of everything on tap or in can is nothing special. Other Half IPAs aren't made of liquid gold. They honestly taste like plastic bags. There is no reason that they should be price marked at $12-14 a pop. But then on the other hand you have an interesting sounding cocktail menu with most drinks no more than $14-15. How are the cocktails the same price as the beer?! Where did I wake up today? They also charge you for charging your phone on a little dinky machine that was plopped next to me on the bar and they apparently charge $5 for playing trivia? None of these things make sense to me in my brain. I can do all of the above for free at any other place. Moving on to the pluses, I intended to only stay for 1 drink (I went the cocktail route obviously because I'm not about to pay double the price for a beer) but we surprisingly were caught up in a feel good moment and stayed for 3 rounds. The ambiance is nice. It feels homey. Like in the sense that I'm in an ultra expensive little nook in Brooklyn that perhaps used to be a little bookshop vibe but then you're paying Manhattan prices. We ordered for the most part Old Fashioneds and the last drink I switched things up and tried their RoseBud: Vodka and house-made rosewater lemonade. The mix was unique. It was sweet and salty and a little floral but not too overwhelming. Delightful cocktails. Happy hour I think is $2 off of drinks but it ends early at 6pm. I didn't explore the food menu but it seems medium priced of burgers, sandwiches, fries, etc. Worth a spot checking out but I wouldn't be a regular. Key word is laid back and cozy.
