I came here with my friend to watch the Olympics opening night. The waitress was extremely outgoing and friendly. We ordered the jalapeño popper, parmesan truffle fries, nachos, spinach & artichoke dip, pretzel, & wings. It was way too much food for 2 people but we were very hungry. The food came out piping hot and so much better than I would have expected it to be. Turnmill also has a variety of whiskeys & agave. My friend is an avid whiskey drinker so he chose a whiskey and was very happy with the selection. We ended the night with a couple of hard ciders. Overall, Turnmill is a great bar to watch sports and hang out. The vibe is very friendly and unpretentious. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the stools are hard on the backside when sitting. Also, for a Friday night, it was too quiet. Walked into football and sports bar heaven! On NYE was trying to watch some games in the afternoon and got turned away at another spot since they were setting up for the night. Turned out great as we just randomly found this spot. It's big enough for a crowd but still good screen views for everyone. They had the game sound on and the vibe was great. Really awesome selection of beers and the bar bites were delicious. It seems like NYC is not known for these types of sports bars, had more of a Midwest feel. Went for Super Bowl yesterday, I'm visiting from out of town so I was by myself. It was busy when I got there, but the servers and bartenders were very attentive. I ordered two vodka sodas, fries, and chicken tenders. Everything was really good, solid, made well, good flavors. It's a pretty good Irish bar for the neighborhood. They have a good happy hour for after work and I can see a group of offices that come by fairly regularly. The weight stuff is friendly and approachable and turn around your drinks really quickly too. They have a lot of space as well and if you want a private section, you can go into the back and they have a large table where you can have your own space. They let out that section for events and get togethers. Definitely recommend this place! read more

Many people have come to know Turnmill as an after-work bar, one for gathering in after a long day at the office and hitting up their happy hour specials. In fact my coworkers and I had one last hurrah here after we closed our offices for good and became a fully remote workforce. I don't find anything about this bar particularly special, nor are their happy hour specials even that good. I've also not been a fan of the bro-y crowd it usually draws. Despite all this, I feel a little twinge in my chest remembering all the post-work happy hours I've had here over the years, all of them kind of mundane and blending together in my memory. The good times weren't really owed to the bar though but to the people I was spending my time with. All of this to say is that you can get drinks here, and maybe catch one of their live music shows, but I'd never suggest going out of your way to visit. read more

Peggy, the manager, was super nice and helped me organize everything. They didn't charge a fee for reserving a private section. I was here for company private party. Didn't expect to drink much cuz my face turns red easily after one drink. Went to this bar to catch the Everton game, and I don't know what I expected but it exceeded my expectations. Crowded with Everton fans, of course, but not rowdy or uncomfortable. The drinks and food are very reasonably priced and you can get a bucket of 5 beers for 20 bucks. The food was very good too, great mozzarella sticks. Also, shoutout to Nicole the bartender who handled an entire room of people as the sole bartender and was super nice and friendly and fast despite how many people there were to serve. First it's LOUD... the music rather than the patrons, but it's a deafening level. The music is also broadcast to the tables outside, but the open air makes it bearable... even if the heat isn't. Other than that, no complaints. The service was wonderful with rotating waiters/waitresses, always on the spot and serving with good humor. Nice beer selection and if you describe your tastes (mine: an IPA, but not super bitter, medium alcohol) you'll be able t try something new. They'll even offer you a taste first. No complaints about the food. I had the buffalo wings and they had a nice kick... too often missing from wimpier bars. My friends had a variety of other food, all enjoying it. There is a paper menu, but it varies from the QR code menu. The latter is the most up to date. If you can put up with (or even enjoy) the loud music (maybe I'm just too old), then inside is the right temperature, and a nice ambience. Got respect for everything Turnmill has going on. A worn-in, industry friendly look. Divey without being disgusting. Daily happy hour from 5-7p, and another Sun-Tue, 12a-2a. But I find myself nightcapping between these sweet spots, and can't shake why a local, high volume session IPA is $8 a pint. Cocktails are $14, and the specialties are mules, collinses and the like. I've been to Turnmill for a few different happy hours. Most recently I came and sat up front as there was a party in the back. The best part about this place is the space and atmosphere. It's normally pretty busy but the staff is super accommodating. The prices are cheap $7-$14 for drinks and cocktails. They also have great food. Side note -- call ahead if you want to bring a group as they are really helpful. One time they even let us watch The Bachelor on the huge wall in the back because there wasn't a party. Great HH spot for groups, coworkers, but I wouldn't go to sit down and eat...mainly because the ambiance feels more like cocktails and conversation. read more

This bar was right across the street from our Airbnb. Our place didn't have a tv and we needed a place to catch the NBA playoffs during our vacation. The Turnmill ended up being the most convenient lifesaver during our stay. Service was pretty good, except the last night when it was really busy but that was understandable. Great beer selection.
