Crompton is conveniently on the same street as my office so I make my way here pretty often! The food and service is consistently good here. It can get pretty busy at the end of the day with many people stopping in for a drink after work but the staff is super attentive and you won't even notice. Plenty of TV's so you can watch a game while you wait! Food-wise, I've tried everything on their menu from the Cobb salad to the Pigs in a Blanket, Sliders, the Bar Pretzel, and their Flatbreads. We visited Crompton Ale House last Monday night to watch the football game. We sat at the bar and ate the platter of appetizers, all of which were very good. The crowd was really into the football game, despite the Giants losing handily. For a Monday night, it seemed relatively crowded in a good way. The service by Jeremy was great. Ambiance (5/5): This is such an awesome sports bar--several large TVs surrounding the whole bar and really open space with tall ceilings. The room is wonderfully decorated, like you're in a library. The upscale bar feeling is nice. The front windows/walls are open so natural lighting comes into the venue. Only qualm is that the tall chairs are stools with no back so over time it gets a little uncomfortable sitting. Happy Hour menu (4-7pm) that had $5 bottles, $6 drafts, and $8 wine/house mixed drinks--mozz sticks $14. Service (5/5): Despite how large the venue is, the staff was constantly doing laps so it was never hard to get anyone's attention. They also checked in for refills before our glasses were empty! Visited Crompton Ale House for lunch and dinner time. I will say the lunch experience was a lot better due to the service. There weren't many tables so the waiters were more attentive but I can see that they were really busy and trying their best when we went for dinner. It is a very spacious place so there's lots of seating options from high and low tables to the bar seating. It's very casual and the decor fits the trendy rustic theme. I will say I am obsessed with their Barbie Cosmo which is made with watermelon. It was so good that we ended up ordering 2 rounds each time we went. Note they do have a happy hour from 4-7pm and that drink is included! We all enjoyed the food we ordered. I had the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread both times and my friends had the Reuben Sandwich, Margherita Flatbread, and 26th Street Burger. During our dinner visit we tried the Bar Pretzel as an appetizer but it wasn't the best. It didn't have much flavor and it seemed to be overcooked so it was too hard. Stopped in here randomly for the first time, on my way to Penn Station, with no expectations. Just wanted a good burger and a cold beer. Got both, and then some! This was just a really nice experience overall. Very Inviting from the outside, very good menu, and far more than just the pub basics. Added Bonus: they had great happy hour drink specials! It really chafes my ass to pay $8 or $9 a pint at happy hour! So to find somewhere serving $6 pints and $5 cans in midtown was very refreshing!! Good cans too, not just PBR or High Life like most cheap spots. The burger was absolutely delicious. Large patty, soft bun, and most importantly, COOKED TO MY REQUESTED TEMP! Perfect medium, juicy as hell. Shoestring fries were absolutely perfect as well. The place has a beautiful "library" motif, with dark woodwork and illuminated bookshelves surrounding. The bar is beautiful, made of stone with bold copper plumbing. The tap beer was cold and fresh. Six point Bengali. My server at the bar was great too. Very attentive and polite. They also have your usual pub beers and what not. We split a bunch of appetizers which were all good across the board. Would recommend the Calamari and Sweet Potato Fries, in particular. I truly treated myself today by stopping in to have a bite to eat at Crompton's Ale House. The first impression I got - what stunning decor! Really, what could be better? A beautiful wall bookshelf to the left. An airy open vibe, sound system piping the best in 90s British rock. A long beautiful bar to complement the library right opposite...I could not have asked for better. To top it off I had the Crompton burger which is very yummy, and might just have been the best burger I've ever had. You will just have to go and find out why! In a city filled to the brim with Irish pubs, Crompton Ale House stands in a unique category in Chelsea. Such an unassuming location.
