This is the kind of restaurant experience that I adore. We came here for dinner before a concert at Carnegie Hall. We had a reservation and were seated within moments. The place was packed! The dinner items are so intriguing. Why did I love it so much? Because it was like art, but also delicious. I can highly recommend the tableside butter service. A giant cart with a mountain of butter is rolled to your area. In the most entertaining way, butter is scooped and prepared on a marble slab then served to you and yours with many little accoutrements. It was way too much for two people, but we loved every bite. Thanks to my friend, who lives across from Quality Bistro and is a regular, I've been lucky enough to experience this place multiple times--from lunch and brunch to even Thanksgiving dinner. The service is consistently excellent. It's one of those restaurants where you feel very well taken care of from start to finish, and the space itself has a lively, polished energy that makes every visit feel like an occasion. The food, for me, is a bit more mixed. There are a few standout touches I really enjoy, especially the butter service and the bagel service, which always feel fun and well done. The French onion soup was memorable the first time I had it, though I've since had an even better version elsewhere that raised the bar for me. Some dishes land better than others. The Caesar salad is fine but not particularly memorable, the pasta dishes are generally okay, and I didn't love the artichoke dish, which felt a bit tough and underwhelming. The mac and cheese also didn't quite hit for me and felt a bit heavy without much payoff. Overall, I really enjoyed my dinner at quality bistro. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a couples birthday dinner date night or just girlfriends hanging out upon entry. Decent French restaurant in midtown Manhattan, close to Central Park. We had our Friday night dinner here. I tried their popular spicy bird cocktail which looks is very attractive but the taste is not that much. French onion is extremely delicious. I would recommend that. We also ordered artichoke hearts which are kind of tough although the dipping sauce is amazing. Dover sole is a tad dry but still tasty and we loved mushrooms. Between the appetizer and entree, we felt that we got rushed by the waitress. She immediately apologized. A few minutes later, the Manager came and asked if everything is fine. The steak frites, Brussels sprouts, and Moroccan fried chicken, and Mac and cheese were fantastic. I saw people raving about the spicy Caesar but personally didn't get it--I thought it was fine. I thought the escargot were a bit bland. Le grand croissant is an amazingly decadent giant croissant filled with Nutella and accompanied with jam, pistachio, honey sides etc. it was great, but seemed like it should've been more a dessert option rather than an appetizer as it was extremely sweet. Having been a loyal patron of Quality Meats and Quality Italian for many years, I was eager to experience your take on the French bistro concept. While there were highlights to the evening, several aspects of the experience did not meet the high standards I have come to associate with the Quality Branded family. First, I must address a significant comfort issue two weeks ago. Our group was seated in one of the large booths, and we found that the cushions were so soft that we sank down uncomfortably low. It was quite awkward to dine when several guests could barely see over the top of the table. For a restaurant of this caliber, guest ergonomics are essential, and I would strongly encourage looking into firmer seating support for those booths. Regarding the menu, we found the oysters to be a bit of a letdown for the $5 price point. The citrus toppings were so heavy-handed that they completely overwhelmed the natural flavor of the oyster. Additionally, as a long-time fan of Quality Meats, I found the steak to be lacking in both presentation and precise execution. I had hoped for a dish that mirrored the excellence of your sister properties, but this fell short of expectations. On a more positive note, your staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the night. We also thoroughly enjoyed the bread and butter cart; the butter was truly lovely and stands up well against international varieties I have tried. Furthermore, your desserts are stunning and were the highlight of our meal. This spot is alllll about the shareable items. We visited for Mother's Day brunch and the restaurant was packed! However, we were greeted warmly and a server was with us very quickly. They did however seat us at a table that was directly in the way of a lot of movement through the restaurant. Many waiters found themselves squeezing between our table and another to attend to other tables. Some were carrying very heavy looking trays. Beyond that, we had a blast. We ordered the butter service, which was super fun! The waiters make a whole show of it, seasoning the butter at the table, talking it up a bit, and then allowing us to go to town. The added shallots on top bring an extra hit of umami. The chorizo spread was a little grainy for me, but others at the table were going for seconds and thirds. I especially enjoyed the marinated leeks and the eggplant dip it was also served with. Our entrees were a little underwhelming. We ordered the lobster frites and the french onion soup burger. The burger wasn't overtly French oniony. It was just a solidly good burger. The lobster was delicious, but not anything I am continuing to think about. What I am still thinking about though, are the creme brulees! We ordered the corn creme brulee for a side. It was sweet and salty, with a great crack and chew to the top. I also loved the espresso creme brulee for dessert, which also had a nice light saltiness to it. We also got the spicy orange carrots which were totally delicious. In addition to the espresso creme brulee, we also ordered the lemon ice cream cake. It was bright and refreshing. The only downsides were the wait for the desserts. The wait was so long that our waiter insisted that they would be comped for our inconvenience. However, they were still on the bill at the end of the meal. He did remove them immediately when we pointed them out, though. And finally, coat check accidentally gave our Mother's Day bouquet of flowers to the wrong mom! We wound up with a much prettier bunch, but lost our balloon as part of the switch. Oh well! They ended up taking away a full plate of ham when we weren't paying attention. Steaks were good but nothing life changing. Our biggest complaint is that we ordered a bottle of wine. Instead of keeping it by our table, they took it away. At one point our wine tasted different from our original glass. We had to ask if it was the correct wine and when they came back they told us yes and that the bottle was finished. It didn't seem right. Came here for a company holiday dinner and overall the food was pretty decent. We were constraint to a prix fixe menu that was chosen ahead of time due to our large party, so the options were unfortunately slim for us. But can't really complain since it's on the company. Definitely never had butter service like this before and it was probably the freshest butter I'll ever have in my life. For sides, the Jumbo Asparagus and Bistro Frites were ordered. Asparagus was essentially our greens dish, which was decent. The fries were very addicting. For appetizer, I started off with their French Onion Soup, which was delicious. I felt like I could have been satisfied with just this alone. For entree, I ordered the Pork Porterhouse, which had a roasted pineapple sauce on it for enhanced flavor. I found the pork to be dry, so the sauce was necessary. For dessert, I ordered the Espresso Creme Brulee, which was also great. They serve it in a cup as if you ordered an espresso shot after your meal, but in a dessert form. I also got to try the Green Apple Tart Tatin Sundae, which I have to say I enjoyed a lot more, especially if you'e able to get a spoon with both the french vanilla ice cream and the green apple sorbet. Overall a pretty good experience. Some of the courses had a wow factor while other did not meet expectation. Would not mind coming back again if the opportunity presented itself. Crowds were elegant and cute, but the back room was full of tourists/ loud families( maybe because it was a new year eve in midtown) Our server was able to get us to other room, because it was Too cold and loud. - Raw dishes were OK, not amazing. We had THE BEST time here! Highly recommend! We had arrived a little on the earlier side for our reservation and the table wasn't ready yet so we went to the bar and a had a few drinks. They were very refreshing. There is a lot to look at with all the color and decorations and I really loved it. Now, unfortunately our our table continued to not be ready however, they apologized profusely and comped us some champagne! I understand when there is a table that is taking their time and it's not reeeeally their fault as they do not want to be rude. Dined at Quality Bistro on Thanksgiving. My wife went with non-traditional French fare, while I enjoyed a traditional turkey dinner. My wife boasted the French Onion Soup was the best she'd ever had, and the scallops, served in a rich creamy sauce, were delicious. My turkey dinner was very tasty, as was the stuffing and potatoes purée. Only complaint was that there was too little potatoes and that they were buried below both the meat and stuffing. The restaurant itself is magnificent, but it would have been nice to see some Christmas decorations during the holiday. Service was polite and attentive. Only issue was we waited more than 20 minutes to be seated even though we had reservations. I wonder if they would hold my table had I been so late. The wait staff kept bugging us to order every 5 minutes and rushed us. It felt very transactional. The hostess seated me near the loudest crowd while there were other quieter tables available where no one sat the entire time I was there. The crowd kept coming to my table to take chairs for their group. The waitress I had was very rude and intimidating. Her name was Dina T. according to my check. She was telling me what to not order since I was a party of one. She rushed me to get my order in and told me I had 2 minutes until she came back. She had an attitude about my request to split the check into food on one vs. alcohol on another. She basically could not get me to leave any sooner. I had a soup, an app, and a glass of wine... and was out of there ASAP. I wish this experience never happened and I could undo everything...could have taken my money and dined somewhere else where my business was actually wanted. The location was perfect for us as it was just around the corner from our hotel. I chose it as It offered the butter service at the table which I thought was unique. My husband loves good bread and butter lol It is a great sharing plate with ham and other condiments. My husband had the Branzino and I had Steak Frites. Fish was perfect. We shared my fries as you do get a lot for one serving. My steak was a little over seasoned for my taste , a little too much peppercorn. But cooked perfectly medium rare. We shared a Creme Brûlée but it was their version with a strong coffee flavor with a creme on the top. Not for us but thats ok. Server gave us a complimentary chocolate mousse and cream to make up for it. The service was excellent all the way through. You have your server plus other guys in jackets who wander around and help get you drinks and water where needed. We checked our coats when we came in. When you pick them up they are warm to the touch which was great as it was so cold outside. The rest rooms are down two flights of stairs. Dimly lit and real hand towels to dry yourself with. We reserved a table for 5pm and were sat promptly. They do ask if you are seeing a show so they can serve you quickly and get you out on time. We fortunately were not in a rush so took our time and enjoyed the whole ambience of the restaurant. The tables are pretty close together and you can hear your neighbors talking but it didn't spoil our evening at all. By the time we left the restaurant was full and had quite a buzz! Let's start with the positives: Anna, the hostess, was outstanding. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived, but she kept us informed, was genuinely welcoming, and even offered complimentary champagne while we waited. Now the downside: Our server, Luigi, delivered very poor service. He largely ignored our table, and when he did stop by, he was unfriendly and acted as though serving us was an inconvenience. From the aesthetic and wonderful and warm staff interactions, to the delicious food, this place was a win! The sauted leeks were a star of the show though and complimented the salmon wonderfully! YAY! Surf and Turf: I didn't get this plate, but it looked amazing and the meat was very tender. I will say the lobster portion left a bit to be desired, but still great! Nutella Opera Cake (a gift from Oral) : this was INCREDIBLE. And such a generous serving! The textures were wonderful and for those chocolate lovers it is a MUST. YAYYYY!!!! Cream cheese service is such an absurd concept that we absolutely had to try it! And it did not disappoint. The cream cheese was delicious (and I barely even like cream cheese, so that's a big deal). And I loved all the toppings, like the beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, lox and white fish. We had a great time devouring the spread of goodies. Of course, we needed more everything baguette, and the server brought us more. For my main, I had the French burger. It was really good, and the side of fries was an enormous portion. The restaurant is very upscale and bougie. There were definitely some people that were dressed up really nicely. The decor in the dining room is beautiful and very elegant. Absolutely beautiful spot! The ambiance is stunning, the drinks are amazing, the service is outstanding, and the food is very good. This is a good place to bring a date, a visitor, or anyone you're trying to impress. The drinks were wonderful- especially the old fashioned au pouvoir and the dirty gin martini. The salmon crudo was just ok, but the scallops were delicious and the branzino was perfectly cooked. The Nutella cake and ice cream cake for dessert were both delicious. But the best part was the service- our server was friendly, gracious, helpful, and made our meal even better. read more
