The only thing I'd mention is that the restrooms are located down a fairly long flight of stairs. We had a reservation for 7:30 p.m., but when we arrived around 7:45, we were offered a very small table. We asked if a larger one was available and ended up waiting until about 7:55 to be seated. During that time, we saw a couple of other parties get seated before us, so it seemed like there were larger tables available. We started with the butter service, which was excellent and came out quickly. The only downside was the bread-to-butter ratio, there wasn't nearly enough bread for the amount of butter served, so we had to order extra bread and still ended up with plenty of butter left over. The hanger steak took about 30 minutes to arrive. It was cooked perfectly and was definitely the highlight of the meal even with the wait. Our server also recommended the eggplant, which was flavorful, but much spicier than expected. I generally enjoy spicy food, but I found it a bit overpowering. Thanks to my friend, who lives across from Quality Bistro and is a regular, I've been lucky enough to experience this place multiple times--from lunch and brunch to even Thanksgiving dinner. The service is consistently excellent. It's one of those restaurants where you feel very well taken care of from start to finish, and the space itself has a lively, polished energy that makes every visit feel like an occasion. The food, for me, is a bit more mixed. There are a few standout touches I really enjoy, especially the butter service and the bagel service, which always feel fun and well done. Decent French restaurant in midtown Manhattan, close to Central Park. We had our Friday night dinner here. I tried their popular spicy bird cocktail which looks is very attractive but the taste is not that much. French onion is extremely delicious. I would recommend that. We also ordered artichoke hearts which are kind of tough although the dipping sauce is amazing. Dover sole is a tad dry but still tasty and we loved mushrooms. This is the kind of restaurant experience that I adore. We came here for dinner before a concert at Carnegie Hall. We had a reservation and were seated within moments. The place was packed! The dinner items are so intriguing. Why did I love it so much? Because it was like art, but also delicious. I can highly recommend the tableside butter service. A giant cart with a mountain of butter is rolled to your area. In the most entertaining way, butter is scooped and prepared on a marble slab then served to you and yours with many little accoutrements. It was way too much for two people, but we loved every bite. We were constraint to a prix fixe menu that was chosen ahead of time due to our large party, so the options were unfortunately slim for us. But can't really complain since it's on the company. Definitely never had butter service like this before and it was probably the freshest butter I'll ever have in my life. For sides, the Jumbo Asparagus and Bistro Frites were ordered. Asparagus was essentially our greens dish, which was decent. The fries were very addicting. For appetizer, I started off with their French Onion Soup, which was delicious. I felt like I could have been satisfied with just this alone. For entree, I ordered the Pork Porterhouse, which had a roasted pineapple sauce on it for enhanced flavor. I found the pork to be dry, so the sauce was necessary. For dessert, I ordered the Espresso Creme Brulee, which was also great. They serve it in a cup as if you ordered an espresso shot after your meal, but in a dessert form. I also got to try the Green Apple Tart Tatin Sundae, which I have to say I enjoyed a lot more, especially if you'e able to get a spoon with both the french vanilla ice cream and the green apple sorbet. Overall a pretty good experience. Some of the courses had a wow factor while other did not meet expectation. Would not mind coming back again if the opportunity presented itself. Average bistro. Came here with friends to get their famous butter service. It was good, but the staff kept trying to take away the encoutrements. They ended up taking away a full plate of ham when we weren't paying attention. Steaks were good but nothing life changing. Our biggest complaint is that we ordered a bottle of wine. Instead of keeping it by our table, they took it away. At one point our wine tasted different from our original glass. We had to ask if it was the correct wine and when they came back they told us yes and that the bottle was finished. It didn't seem right. I understand space is an issue here since they jam pack any available space with a table. But there was enough room on our table to keep the wine. Our favorite part of the meal was dessert. For a restaurant of this caliber, guest ergonomics are essential, and I would strongly encourage looking into firmer seating support for those booths. Regarding the menu, we found the oysters to be a bit of a letdown for the $5 price point. The citrus toppings were so heavy-handed that they completely overwhelmed the natural flavor of the oyster. Additionally, as a long-time fan of Quality Meats, I found the steak to be lacking in both presentation and precise execution. I had hoped for a dish that mirrored the excellence of your sister properties, but this fell short of expectations. On a more positive note, your staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the night. This spot is alllll about the shareable items. We visited for Mother's Day brunch and the restaurant was packed! However, we were greeted warmly and a server was with us very quickly. They did however seat us at a table that was directly in the way of a lot of movement through the restaurant. Many waiters found themselves squeezing between our table and another to attend to other tables. Some were carrying very heavy looking trays. Beyond that, we had a blast. We ordered the butter service, which was super fun! The waiters make a whole show of it, seasoning the butter at the table, talking it up a bit, and then allowing us to go to town. The added shallots on top bring an extra hit of umami. The chorizo spread was a little grainy for me, but others at the table were going for seconds and thirds. I especially enjoyed the marinated leeks and the eggplant dip it was also served with. Our entrees were a little underwhelming. We ordered the lobster frites and the french onion soup burger. The burger wasn't overtly French oniony. It was just a solidly good burger. The lobster was delicious, but not anything I am continuing to think about. What I am still thinking about though, are the creme brulees! We ordered the corn creme brulee for a side. It was sweet and salty, with a great crack and chew to the top. I also loved the espresso creme brulee for dessert, which also had a nice light saltiness to it. We also got the spicy orange carrots which were totally delicious. In addition to the espresso creme brulee, we also ordered the lemon ice cream cake. It was bright and refreshing. The only downsides were the wait for the desserts. The wait was so long that our waiter insisted that they would be comped for our inconvenience. However, they were still on the bill at the end of the meal. He did remove them immediately when we pointed them out, though. And finally, coat check accidentally gave our Mother's Day bouquet of flowers to the wrong mom! We wound up with a much prettier bunch, but lost our balloon as part of the switch. Oh well! We visited Quality Bistro for Sunday dinner. Quality Bistro is a member of the group consisting of 12 restaurants managed by the Quality Group that includes such great establishments as San Sabino, Don Angie, quirky Bad Roman and others. Our impressions follow: The space is well-appointed with comfortable seats. The bathroom is decorated in a classical style, very clean and well-appointed with individual cloth towels. The inconvenient long stair became an after-dinner advantage since I considered my daily exercise goal as attained. The food: One of the daily specials was Whole Lobster with what sounded like a brioche-do not remember exactly. I was surprised at the $49 price and started quizzing the server. Turns out the whole lobster was just a small lobster tail with some accoutrements. I decided to pass. Another dish of interest was a Grand Shellfish Plateau including East Coast Oysters, Tiger Prawns, Cold Cracked Lobster, King Crab Leg, Crudités, Calamansi Dressed Scallops. After studying the website picture, I concluded that the amount of shellfish was not worth the $165 price tag. Our order consisted of: Cote d'Azur Tuna Tartare: Saffron Aioli, Pommes Gaufrettes. The smallish dish desperately needed seasoning. A generous helping of pepper did not provide much help. The typical seasoning like sesame oil, furikake, rice vinegar would greatly improve an otherwise bland dish. French Onion Soup was a satisfying dish with a pleasant dense consistency. Filet Bourguignon Pappardelle: Pappardelle were fine while Filet Bourguignon was inedible. Colorado Lamb Chops: Double-Cut Chops, Smoked Cherries: Ordered medium-rare, lamb chops arrived almost rare inside and so overly seared that most of it became inedible. I complained to a passing server, and then the magic happened. A manager appeared instantly, profusely apologized and offered to replace my pappardelle with anything else I chose. She also offered to replace the lamb chops. I chose to get a Seared Halibut since I was reluctant to test my luck with another meat dish. My wife decided to give lamb chops another try. The replacement dishes appeared so fast we thought the whole kitchen worked just for us. The broth with my Halibut Coconut Nage, Peas, Shiitake was tasty, while the fish was a tad too dry. My wife's Lamb chops were much better, but not good enough to justify the $68 price. Smoked cherries provided a pleasant touch. We completed our meal with a rich Mousse Au Chocolate, a pleasant Raspberry Sorbet and a coffee-all dessert items were comped by the restaurant. Drinks: Lillet Cup: Lillet, Botanist Gin, Strawberry, Mint, Lemon was a little short on alcohol, but pleasant, nevertheless. A glass of Bordeaux Blend Ch. Beychevelle "Les Bruliéres" Haut Médoc 2019 was adequate. Prices: Fairly reasonable for the area of Manhattan heavily populated by tourists. Service: I deliberately left this part to end my review with. I found the service to be excellent. All employees were brimming with great attitude. Servers are well-trained. The manager handled the kitchen's misdeeds with extreme speed and willingness to satisfy us. My extensive experience with better-than-average restaurants is service quality lags kitchen's craftsmanship. It is the opposite at Quality Bistro, the service is well ahead of the kitchen. In conclusion, a planned quiet end to the weekend turned out quite tumultuous despite the heroic performance by the service and the administrative side. I award 3 stars largely due to the service. My wife boasted the French Onion Soup was the best she'd ever had, and the scallops, served in a rich creamy sauce, were delicious. My turkey dinner was very tasty, as was the stuffing and potatoes purée. Only complaint was that there was too little potatoes and that they were buried below both the meat and stuffing. The restaurant itself is magnificent, but it would have been nice to see some Christmas decorations during the holiday. Service was polite and attentive. She was telling me what to not order since I was a party of one. She rushed me to get my order in and told me I had 2 minutes until she came back. She had an attitude about my request to split the check into food on one vs. alcohol on another. She basically could not get me to leave any sooner. I had a soup, an app, and a glass of wine... and was out of there ASAP. I wish this experience never happened and I could undo everything...could have taken my money and dined somewhere else where my business was actually wanted. Took my visiting mother the day after Christmas for a special lunch and we were not disappointed. I am a huge fan of the Quality brand. These people know what they're doing. We had the scallops, salmon, Brussel sprouts, and the "to die for" sweet corn creme brûlée. The food was expertly prepared and tasted wonderful. Our server seemed a little overwhelmed at times but managed to still provide great service. Loved the ambiance. The restaurant was very busy Saturday afternoon. Despite having a 1 pm reservation, we still had to wait, so they did offer complimentary champagne. Some food items were worth the price, others not so much (e.g., the lobster salad). We went for a birthday celebration and the chocolate moose was complimentary. Will return! read more

The location was perfect for us as it was just around the corner from our hotel. I chose it as It offered the butter service at the table which I thought was unique. My husband loves good bread and butter lol It is a great sharing plate with ham and other condiments. My husband had the Branzino and I had Steak Frites. Fish was perfect. We shared my fries as you do get a lot for one serving. My steak was a little over seasoned for my taste , a little too much peppercorn. But cooked perfectly medium rare. We shared a Creme Brûlée but it was their version with a strong coffee flavor with a creme on the top. Not for us but thats ok. Server gave us a complimentary chocolate mousse and cream to make up for it. The service was excellent all the way through. You have your server plus other guys in jackets who wander around and help get you drinks and water where needed. We checked our coats when we came in. When you pick them up they are warm to the touch which was great as it was so cold outside. The rest rooms are down two flights of stairs. Dimly lit and real hand towels to dry yourself with. We reserved a table for 5pm and were sat promptly. They do ask if you are seeing a show so they can serve you quickly and get you out on time. We fortunately were not in a rush so took our time and enjoyed the whole ambience of the restaurant. The tables are pretty close together and you can hear your neighbors talking but it didn't spoil our evening at all. By the time we left the restaurant was full and had quite a buzz! Don't let the name put you off. Beautiful restaurant inside and out. Definitely recommend. read more

Genuinely loved it here. Felt like pre-covid New York: incredible and kind service, lively energy in the room, high quality food. Ha, I guess they got that right in their name. We shared a bunch of appetizers and absolutely loved the steak frites. We were celebrating my cousin's birthday and they sent us some extra desserts and made the meal feel so special. Really recommend Quality Bistro for a lovely meal and/or celebration! read more
