What a gem! This space is easy to miss if you don't know it's there but is so gorgeous inside you'll remember your visit. I was able to grab dinner here and loved the selection of cocktails as well. The salmon was astonishing. My guest and I had to agree to share because we both loved it. I ordered one of their Eucalyptus mocktail options which came topped with a delicious foam which was tart sweet and floral. We ordered the duck as well, Spring vegetables on a bed of lentils and the ravioli which was earthy. Very interesting menu concept with dishes inspired by the elements, a great place to explore something new. My bestfriend said they made her the best drink she'd had all week.

Loved the ambiance and the service. Food came out fast and was pretty delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly and I absolutely loved the berry tart. The tart was reminiscent of an egg custard tart! I also thought the cotton candy in the passion fruit drink was super fun.

Bit of a belated post for their Thanksgiving dinner prix fixe - Altair is the restaurant of the Arlo hotel, and it's a gorgeous space - we were seated in the atrium area and it had great ambiance. Totally understand that Thanksgiving was a busy night, but we started off by being seated 1 full hour after our reservation time (apparently some of the earlier tables were dragging on). It was a bit frustrating as each group checking in was only told to wait to the side because "they wanted to check if the table was ready" - this resulted in all the groups getting antsy and checking with the front desk multiple times because of the lack of transparency. To their credit, the service was all super nice, and after the first course was served, everything moved at a good pace. However, for a 6:45pm reservation, we got seated at 7:45pm, and the first food didn't come until 8:15pm. There was a generous amount of food - anything Thanksgiving we could think of was served up. It did slightly feel as though quantity may have been prioritized over quality, as the dishes didn't seem super connected and our turkey was a bit dry. Overall, I'd have given it 4 stars (would consider coming back if in the area), but I personally took one off due to the long wait. I won't be back on a special occasion / event, but YMMV - the regular reviews admittedly do seem quite positive.

Staying at the hotel for a weekend trip to NY. Needed to grab lunch/snacks before going to a dinner/show later - had heard great things about this restaurant from other hotel guests. We loved it! The ambiance is warm, classy, chic and casual. We were seated in a booth which was super comfortable and enabled us to have a relaxing meal. Service was fantastic. From the host/hostess to our server, they were friendly, attentive, responsive, and spot on in terms of recommendations on the menu. We had the Delicata Squash, Hamachi crudo, pumpkin rolls and fries. Everything was fabulous! Beautifully presented and delicious. The squash was a generous portion as was the crudo. The rolls and accompanying butter were fabulous and the fries with harissa ketchup were crispy perfection. Such a terrific experience and food far exceeded your usual hotel restaurant fare. highly recommend!

This restaurant was such an experience! We walk in and they have took our coats and sat us down. The three of us had a booth that was gorgeous. We started off with drinks that were also equally gorgeous and tasty. Our pastas were so good and the perfect portion size for us to be filled. Overall this dining experience was perfect. It's a perfect restaurant to celebrate an event too!

Kind waitress took pic of our table.

Really liked the ambiance, we were seated in the greenhouse in a corner with a comfortable couch for 3 out of 5 of us to relax on. Our waitress was very nice. Portions were way too small though...the $34 mushroom ravioli had maybe 5 quarter sized, a few mushrooms and a bunch of decorative fill the plate with fluff. The 3 guys ordered the hanger steak and the portion was just tiny. They had two sides that they shared between them but all were left wanting. Pumpkin dinner rolls were very good. Bathrooms were weird; it's unisex so there are separate stalls but you wash hands and touch up in the mirror with fellas walking about so not my idea of optimal. Pretty pricey and following a trend I've seen in NYC lately where one person asks for sparkling and then a big bottle is brought out, others glasses are auto filled, another bottle is brought out and soon you're adding to that bill with more bottled water than you could possibly need or want. Only one of us requested sparking, the rest were a-okay with still. No one rushed us out which was appreciated as well being that we were catching up with family from overseas.

Had a good meal in this restaurant located in the Arlo hotel. Started with the Pumpkin Dinner Roll and the Foie Gras & Truffle Terrine - both excellent and for had the Long Island Duck for the entree which was solid. Very friendly service though they were very busy including having a large group which slowed down dinner a bit.

This is a great dinner spot if you're in the Times Square area. The outdoor covered seating is beautiful, and the servers were attentive. The menu is smaller, but everything we ate and drank was delicious. If you can handle some spice, definitely try the Nduja Bucatini - very filling!

I had a lovely lunch for 1 here and everyone made me feel so welcomed. The food was delicious with hamachi being a standout! The terrace was also a beautiful space to sit in.

I liked what I think is called "The Bar Room" -the bar of Altair restaurant at Arlo Midtown and the staff. I hated the customers. I met a colleague at this bar and I found us seats at the bar until she arrived. It's a good thing I claimed her spot because it began to get crowded. While I waited I chatted with our bartender and he helped me find a non-alcoholic drink that I could order when she arrived. We talked for about an hour and then she headed out for dinner. I sat enjoying the rest of my drink and as I was contemplating whether I wanted to eat there for dinner, one of the other (bro-ish) customers who was in a group asked if now that I'd acquiesed her seat, if I could move over to it so that he and his buddies could all sit together. I considered it but, then remembered how rude they'd been to the bartenders during their time there and also now this request, and I told them I'd rather stay in my seat and they could have it as well when I left. After that I paid my bill and left and went to enjoy dinner in peace. I felt bad for the bartender and barback because I'm sure that was just the start of their night with I-bankers or tech bros who were drinking in excess and being obnoxious. If you want to have a good time pull up early and save the talented and amazing Jose, Rolando and Miguel from the worst of humanity and tip well.

We booked at the restaurant for a company's night out. This place is right at the lobby of a hotel. The restaurant was bright and had very nice decorations. We originally came here for the happy hour but the happy hour is at the bar which is separate from the restaurant. We moved to the bar for the happy hour and got a few drinks, pizza and fries. There's not much selections for happy hour. We then decided to stay for dinner and we moved back to the restaurant. The staff was very accommodating. We were a party of 10 and they were able to make room for us at the bar and were able to give our table back when we decided to stay for dinner. Food was pretty good. Cocktail - was okay. It was kinda watered down Bread - amazing. Soft and delicious with the butter. Steak - a little on the chewy side but it was still good. (I like it medium rare) Octopus - nice and tender but it was really salty Sea bass - it was light and crispy. Had great flavors but the fish was very thin and was not very filling. Also it came with a face which didn't look so nice. Gnocchi - was a little on the bland side. Desserts were also good but the best was the castella cake.

Both failed epically. The bone marrow was inedible as it was like cold custard. Escargot had zero flavor and a real lack of garlic and good butter. Tasted more like vegetable oil than good butter. We shared the lobster pasta entree. Tasted more like Mexican goulash. No Italian flavors to be found in the sauce. Never once did the nameless waiter stop and inquire about our meal. The front part where you first walk in is the bar area with some tables. This restaurant is on the darker side and brings you back in time. I thought for sure they would seat me at the bar area. I had a wonderful waitress whose name I think was Taylor but I could be wrong. I ordered the Monkey bread to start off with. It's a very buttery bread with truffle and parm cheese on top. I have alot of allergies and I was searching online if I could even have truffles as I have a nut allergy. So, I asked the waitress and she said she had never heard this. But, she came back to me and told me that White truffle grows near or like over where Almonds grow from but that, they don't use white truffle so I was all good. Located at MoMA, The Modern is a 2 Michelin star restaurant hosting both fine dining, showcasing Chef Thomas Allan's cuisine, and a more casual dining experience in The Bar Room. The restaurant is gorgeous and has a giant glass wall overlooking MoMA's Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, a lovely view. There is an abridged tasting menu of 3 courses, but we opted for the full chef's menu cause we didn't want to miss their signature "eggs on eggs on eggs" and after the supplemental charge, the price was close enough. - Hiramasa and sugar snap peas/crispy ham and cheese--simple and delicious, with the hiramasa being light and fresh and the ham and cheese providing a deeply savory contrast - Chilled lobster, shiso, and green radish--the lobster was cold and sweet but as a personal preference, I don't really enjoy bitter flavors and the slice of lemon under the radish threw it off a bit - Eggs on eggs on eggs--words cannot adequately describe the unctuousness of this dish, it's like eating rich, buttery velvet on a crispy, fluffy log of brioche. As a bonus, they bring you an extra toast to mop up all the tasty bits - Pumpkin seed sourdough and cultured butter--okay I totally didn't know this was meant to be eaten with the next dish so given total lack of self control in the face of pillowy fresh bread and perhaps the smoothest butter on the planet, I may or may not have eaten it all before the trout showed up... they were nice enough to give us more :') - Sea trout with clams and saffron shellfish broth--the fish was cooked to literal perfection and the clam and saffron sauce enhanced everything even more. This fights with the chicken dish for spot #2 in my favorites of this meal - Heritage chicken, provençal asparagus, vin jaune--this reminds me of the stuffed chicken from Per Se and was cooked just as well. The vin jaune sauce was slightly nutty with an incredibly rich flavor and also went well with the bread - Lamb saddle, romanesco, and lemon poached dates--for some reason I thought the chicken was the final savory course and I did not pace myself at all and was so full by this point. The lamb was tender and the date was a wonderful bite though - Wild strawberries and cacao--I can't remember what was all in this but I loved the little wild strawberries as they were like delicious strawberry gummies - Dark chocolate cremeux, meyer lemon, and espresso--delicious with interesting flavors, I haven't had many lemon, chocolate, and coffee combinations - Mignardises of raspberry, lemon coconut, cherry cheesecake--only one I tried was the cherry cheesecake bonbon but my husband ate 'em all so they must've been good lol The MVP of this meal was the melon lemonade mocktail, made with honeydew, jasmine, and pandan. Might be the most perfect drink for me ever made because it was melony with a subtle floral note from the pandan and jasmine, and only lightly sweet and tart, everything I love. Sooooo good! Service was pretty good up until we wanted to pay, and for some reason it became really difficult to find someone to close us out. We waited almost 20 minutes between the mignardises and finally being able to pay, even actively looking around trying to flag someone down. Despite The Modern not being the most innovative of meals, it's easily one of my all time favorites. I definitely prefer food that's executed well over food that's pushing boundaries, and may be back any time I'm in town.

Their entire operation seemed so incredibly focused, meticulous, and inspiring that we knew we had to try it. We started with the Iberico ham and the hiramasa tart, both incredible. Then came the chilled lobster, which was super fresh and refreshing, served with an amazing sauce that made me want to lick the plate clean. Every dish felt refined without being overly complicated. The service was extraordinary. You can immediately tell the front-of-house team is operating at an extremely high level and is aware of everything happening in the room at all times. At one point, my wife stepped away to use the restroom just as they were about to serve the first course. Without saying a word or making anything awkward, the staff simply looped around a couple of times until she returned. The moment she sat down, they resumed service seamlessly without missing a beat. That level of awareness and professionalism really stood out to us. Next came the rye bread, which was fresh and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, paired with delicious butter. Then we had the sea bass with crab, which was phenomenal and one of my favorite dishes of the night. But the true star of the show for me was the lamb. My wife and I grill lamb racks often, and I genuinely had no idea this level of perfection existed. It was cooked flawlessly, and the sauce was absolutely incredible. If I was not in public, I probably would have been scraping the bone clean :) Big shoutout to one of the staff members, Stephanie, who completely made our night. We were telling her how excited we were to finally visit after watching the Bon Appétit video, and she casually asked if we wanted a tour of the kitchen after dinner. Honestly, I thought she was joking at first. Then she came back after dessert and reminded us. Even after paying the bill, I still thought maybe she was kidding, but then she walked over smiling and said, "Let's go." My wife and I were completely geeked out. Seeing the kitchen in person was surreal. It was exactly like the video: super meticulous, orders being called out and repeated in unison, everyone moving with total precision and purpose. You could see the Omega clock, the Michelin stars on the wall, and just the overall culture of excellence behind everything they do. We were honestly in awe. Thank you again, Stephanie. That experience meant so much to us. Every time we visit a fine dining restaurant for a special occasion, I always wonder whether it will truly live up to the hype. Some completely miss the mark. Some are very good. But none have delivered on every aspect the way The Modern did. This is officially our favorite restaurant in the world.

Le grand croissant is an amazingly decadent giant croissant filled with Nutella and accompanied with jam, pistachio, honey sides etc. it was great, but seemed like it should've been more a dessert option rather than an appetizer as it was extremely sweet. We booked this out for Mother's Day maybe two weeks in advance and there were decent times in the early afternoon, but I checked closer to the day and it was all booked out.
