If you are searching for a restaurant near the August Wilson Theater, this is the perfect place. Only a 8 minute walk right in Hells Kitchen. My dining partner and I started with the Tortino di Granhio e Funghi, Mozzarella Saporita and Feta e Peperoni salad . Perfect combo to enjoy before the main meal. All was so delicious but I really enjoyed the Mozzarella Saporita - prosciutto wrapped warm mozzarella - incredible! My main dish was a special for the night , Pappardelle and slow cooked lamb. The lamb was extra tender and the pappardelle was the perfect al dente . My dining partner also had a special, Chicken Franchise - they complimented how tender the chicken was. the vibes are cutesy italian wine cellar/kitchen. everything came out fast, hot, and scrumptious. i think i might have licked my plate clean when no one was looking! the food was perfectly portioned so no one had to worry about togo boxes, but also no one left hungry. our server (i wish i could remember her name - young woman with dark brown hair and italian accent) she was amazing. so sweet and very attentive. we had mentioned we wanted to adventure after our reservation to grab a drink before our show, and she was kind enough to recommend a cute spot near by (which was exactly the vibe we needed, thank you!) read more

Made a reservation ahead of time for a group of five. Seating is hightop stools at a long counter so just keep that in mind! I tried: + Calamari in umido + Burrata with prosciutto (special) + Cesare + fettuccine funghi + Gnocchi sorrentina + Lobster ravioli + Tiramisu Lobster ravioli was by far the best dish, followed by the fettuccine. After a few days of overeating and celebrating I needed to find a little out of the way place that I could sit on the patio, enjoy a nice glass of wine and maybe some eats. I found it! Briciola and their staff were accommodating and set up a table on the outside for me and immediately brought the wine menu and the specials and regular menu. I asked for the house cab and they asked if I wanted a glass or a glass and a half and you know what I chose. Catarina came out and told me about the menu items. She was very excited about the menu and was very full of life. She brought out the best bread with olive oil and I ended up choosing the truffle gnocchi and she was right, it was FANTASTIC! The setting was romantic and I felt somewhat like a writer or poet sipping wine and waxing poetic on a Hell's Kitchen side street with fabulous food and a fun person to chat with. We had a lovely dinner at Briciola. The ambiance was quaint. We were lucky without a reservation and got three seats at the bar. We order a couple of salads, a side prosciutto, and Parmesan. We also had the Branzino and Pesto Pasta. Overall, the salads were moderately sized, so good as a side. The side prosciutto was a healthy helping that came with delicious olives, dried tomatoes, onions and mushrooms drenched in yummy olive oil. The Parmesan came with walnuts and honey. We felt the helping of cheese could have been just a little more. It was all very good! The branzino had a very delicious lemon caper sauce on top of veggies and mashed potatoes. Pesto pasta had a homemade sauce with artichokes mixed and in Parmesan on top. We just wished we could add a protein to go with it. So good either way. We closed with sharing a tiramisu that's we perfectly layered on top of a nice chocolate sauce. The also gave us a free basket of break with olive and balsamic sauce if you need. All was so good, we will go back when we are back in NY. Highly recommend, but make sure to make a reservation! read more

Came here with a party of 3 for a pre-theater dinner. We had a reservation that we had to change the time twice for since we were running late, and they were very accommodating. Service was very fast; I had a feeling they're used to recognizing those in a rush to catch their show! Our waitress was very charming and thoughtful. Highly recommend the penne pesto. Everything else was just ok: lasagna bolognese special, lobster ravioli, creme brûlée, and tiramisu. I'll be dreaming of that pesto; perfect al dente and the sauce captured the fragrance of the pesto perfectly. Seating was at a communal table and the restaurant was quite cramped. read more

We had about 1 hour to eat before broadway show. Service was exceptionally fast and efficient. We ordered several entrees and shared them. Some were better than others. Enjoyed the flank steak and grilled octopus more than the pasta dishes. We regretted not trying the special lamb lasagna dish. Grilled bread and Cocktails were very good. Very intimate. We ordered the mango salad, burrata with tomato, and skirt steak. The mango salad was so good, with thinly sliced mango paired with kale and a balsamic dressing. I usually don't enjoy mango in salads, but this one was an exception--it tasted incredibly well with the steak--speaking of the steak, it was delicious & cooked well. I highly recommend ordering it medium rare ( it also paired wonderfully with the kale). The burrata was also a great choice for those seeking creamy balance with kale!! The only con to this restaurant is that it does feel quite cramped, and there are only high top seatings. read more

A very attractive claustrophobic eatery just down the street from the Neil Simon Theatre, important for our evening needs. Wait staff were very helpful and friendly. We shared a long table with a dozen some other people: the bar seats 7-8, and then they have a few tables outside. Just walking through Hell's Kitchen and thought this place looked nice. Glad we decided to try it. James Beard winning chef made sure the menu looked delicious, and the specials impossible to turn down. Seating is either outside, at the bar, or at a long communal table. We had a very nice experience here before going to a show at the August Wilson Theater. It's a small, intimate space - one side is a bar, the other consists of a long high community table with somewhere between 16-18 seats in a narrow room lined with shelves of wine. We were able to get a 5:30 reservation about 40 minutes in advance on a Tuesday, but by the time we left around 6:15 it was starting to fill up. The server was charming and friendly. Rattled off lots of specials which all sounded so good we didn't really bother looking at the menu. We shared two starters, bread and had a glass of wine each and it was a perfect early dinner for three. If the mango, arugula and goat cheese salad is a special when you go, get it! read more

As a note to anyone reading: I only give 5 stars to exceptional places, but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with this place. I would definitely return again. Be mindful of serving sizes. I saw this labelled as a tapas place and we ordered far more food than we should have. For example we ordered the beet salad and were expecting an amount equal to 1 or 2 beets. Food - 4/5 My group got the Daily special lamb shank with risotto, the steak and the burrata. The lamb shank with risotto is a big portion. The lamb was tender, not too gamey and very well seasoned. It was roasted well and was fall of the bone juicy with a good balance of fat and meat. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare, salted to perfection and super juicy and tender. The burrata tasted fresh, mixed with the tomatoes. Service - 4/5 service was good, the waiter was attentive and refilled our drinks often. He was friendly and very informative when we had questions about the menu and wine. Ambiance - 4/5 the ambiance is decent. It mostly consists of high chairs and high tables which can get a little uncomfortable when sitting for prolonged dinners. The outdoor dining is nice though, excellent for a summer - fall dinner date! read more

Oof this place was not good. Not sure what these 4+ star reviews are about. I got the Orecchiette Salsiccia Rapini (1/5) which was not good. The pasta was overcooked, whatever sauce they tried to make was not reduced so the bottom of the bowl was liquidy like it was soup. There's grated cheese on top but no cheese was melted in the actual dish so I felt like I was eating chunky cheese with soft pasta. The only good thing here was the Italian sausage. My bf got the skirt steak (2/5) which was also disappointing. He ordered medium rare but got well done and on top of that, the steak wasn't seasoned at all. If you're paying $38, I don't think it's much to ask for a decently cooked and seasoned steak. The potatoes were seasoned at least. Our server was nice but didn't check on us until the end when it was time to pay. The kicker was we went to another Italian restaurant for dessert and they had skirt steak for $30. Wish we got dinner there instead. read more

This place was so amazing for the price! The food, wine, and service were really top notch. And while many of these little eateries in Hell's Kitchen are worth a try, this place stands out for its consistent quality across the board! The food was delicious; we really liked the poplette meatballs as a sharing app, and used the complimentary bread to soak up the marinara sauce. The branzino fish was great too, with a light butter cream sauce and perfectly cooked veggies. The chocolate soufflé was super rich but a great dish to split between two people. The wine list was very well curated, offering a range of light and heavier reds and whites, most from Italy. This place is also a wine bar, so you can expect a good wine selection. The service was quick and the waiters communicated efficiently with the busboys, which made for a seamless handoff between the dishes. One caveat: the indoor space is very quaint and small, so not a lot of seating space. They make up for it with nice seating area outdoors, but again this is Hell's Kitchen so expect some weird characters walking by. It's safe, and perhaps part of the charm of this neighborhood. read more

Met the owner as soon as I stepped in. He truly knows the menu and was absolutely personable and welcoming. We were walking on the Upper west side of Central Park and decided on Italian for dinner. The original place we were headed to was only accepting carryout. So we found Briciola a short cab ride away. Inside are large communal tables and 2 areas outside seating. There's even a covered section with a cooling fan and shelter. The restaurant is charming and filled with character much like the food. The food was filling, with appropriate portions and a melody of unique Italian flavors. I have not tasted Italian food so satisfactory in a long time. The owner was so accommodating and provided on and off menu choices so there is something here for everyone's palate. Who would have thought mango would be an ingredient in an Italian restaurant! The staff were are also pleasant, genuinely happy, and professional. This is a can't miss for Italian in NYC! read more

I'm devastated that I accidentally left my to-go leftovers at the restaurant; this place is lovely! For one, the anterior is very cozy and intimate - it's a perfect place to catch up with a friend or go on a date. The food was divine! I got the orecchiette salsiccia e rapini pasta and my friend and I split the tuna tartare appetizer. The tartare was SO good and so fresh and the pasta was so rich in flavor! It was deceptively simple but had a depth that showcases that sometimes simplicity is key. And they have a great wine selection. For all you get, the price is actually more than reasonable. And the server was very knowledgeable and kind. Highly suggest this place! And it's close to the theater district, so it's perfect if you're looking for a pre-show dinner. read more

Cozy Italian restaurant with an authentic vibe and decent pasta. I ordered the pappardelle with wild boar ($28) - the pappardelle pasta was cooked to a good slightly chewy consistency and the chunks of wild boar were tender and juicy. The tomato sauce was simple and classic. I also tried a bit of the Rigatoni e Gamberi (rigatoni with shrimp) ($19), but it was too spicy for me (granted my spice tolerance is not that high). I should note that the complimentary bread to start was actually very good and soft. The place itself is very cozy and is actually divided into two areas - each with its own large shared table. On my side, it was more of a bar kind of setup whereas the other side is more of a traditional table. While it is a bit small space, it did not feel cramped and there were only a couple others in there, so finding a spot was not an issue, even on a Friday night. The staff were friendly and attentive. It seems that they have a lot of options outside of the regular menu (including my pappardelle), but they did not inform me beforehand that those other options would be noticeably more expensive than the regular $19 pastas. Overall, while the pastas were average quality, I think the cozy vibe here makes it a bit unique, so would recommend this if you are in the mood for Italian food in this type of environment. read more

Celebrated Mother's Day here with a group of 12. We chose this place by luck, and lucky we were. The food was delicious, we ordered about 3 apps,& salads for starters. The bruschetta's were a hit, everyone's main course came out together with no hiccups. Taste & portions of mains were just right. We tagged on the beets & spinach as shareable. We had old folks with us, so you know they can be picky, but surprisingly they ate everything. The service team provided kind & prompt hospitality. Thank you Briciola for taking good care of us. Really enjoyed the food the first time I went and wanted to go back. Made reservation for the bar for 8pm- they had us wait for like 10 min if we wanted the bar seats that we had on our reservation(not the end of the world, understandable) but then offered us a communal table. We were willing to wait for the bar but we were pretty much told that it wasn't happening as they told us we could only sit across the street or at the Loud and CRAMMED communal tables. When we were asking the hostess for another option as my boyfriend is hard of hearing and we would've had a silent (yet noisy) date at the communal table, a blonde woman came out from the back and yelled to us "THE OTHER SEATS ARE TAKEN BY A PARTY OF 5". I just don't understand the point of allowing people to make reservations if you can't honor them (even twenty/thirty minutes after the time they were for) nor how it makes sense to be rude to the customers at your own screw up. read more
