Mia ragazza got the Gnocchi Gorgonzola, a rich and smooth cream putting you into dream state. I played around with the spaghettini (a wonderful word when said correctly). Top notch. One of my favorite pasta dishes I've had. So fresh it tasted like the pasta grew out the ground, was plucked, and immediately plated. Just a great experience. Didn't have enough time to hit the secondi due to a show we attended, and I'll forever regret it. I don't travel to the bustling city much. Bright lights don't bother a talent such as myself but the stank and the crank of the streets can occasionally de-luster the lustered city. The travel can make one unravel and bang their head on some gravel. But for Giardino 54, I may do so once more. My coworkers and I came here for a linner (lunch/dinner) we were able to be seated at the back of the restaurant overlooking the garden area. This restaurant is very beautiful inside! Especially the bar area *swoon*. We all got a variety of appetizers from the fresh grilled octopus to the zucchini flowers. These were the two standouts. Zucchini flowers were crispy and full of flavor. It is my first time trying it and I was super impressed. The octopus is freshly grilled and seasoned well. The drink I got (I forgot the name) was very well made. The stars of the evening was the entrees. I got the ossobocco and omgggg the bone marrow was deletable, the veal fell off the bone. Had dinner here the other day and had a great time, we got a few appetizers and pasta dishes that were really fresh. The eggplant-zucchini appetizer was great with really good red sauce. The grilled calamari was a little flavorless so that was a little big of a let down, if I come back i'll try the octopus legs instead. Solid but not unforgettable! We had made a dinner reservation in advance, but probably didn't need one, since they weren't super busy on a Saturday evening. I was hoping to sit in the garden, but we were seated in front of the entrance, where they had two outdoor tables. The interior had a nice-looking bar, and mostly high-top seating. For drinks, I got a glass of Chianti and my sister got a glass of Pinot Grigio - both were good! We decided to skip appetizers and ordered two pasta dishes to share - the Tortelloni al Burro e Salvia and Lasagna all'Emiliana. Service was friendly and impressively quick! The Tortelloni were filled with spinach and ricotta and served in a butter sage sauce. The pasta was cooked well, and the sauce was very tasty. However, the Lasagna all'Emiliana was my favorite of the two, mostly due to its sauce. Both dishes were filling, and a good portion size for two people. We had a reservation on a weekend. We sat in the back area, which had a lot of natural lighting, but was on the colder side for winter. I got a cappuccino and the bucatini alla norma. The cappuccino was good, but small for the price. The texture of the bucatini was al dente. I wish there was more sauce though. The portion size was okay, I finished it all and felt full. We also ordered a tiramisu to share which was very tasty! Overall it was a decent spot for a weekend brunch that is not overcrowded or loud. read more

There are two things NYC is saturated with: 1) Angry, impatient people; and 2) Overpriced, mid-quality Italian restaurants. Giardino 54 is the epitome of #2. Even for brunch, a usually cheaper meal, you can expect to pay prices in the $25+ range for small portions of average-tasting pasta. And to make matters worse, the two most interesting pastas--the Bucatini and the Paccheri--are the two that aren't handmade. I should know--I got the Paccheri all' Amatriciana and can attest that it didn't have the nonna quality in any way, shape or form. I even added a side of Home Fries because I could tell I'd still be hungry. I think something got lost in translation because I got lumpy mashed potatoes instead. Que? And the Ricotta & Pistachio Cheesecake was a waste of $15. Small, dry and tasteless. If you must have Italian in the area, try to get a table at Norma a block away. Much, much better. read more

It was a cold and wet winter night and we had a reservation. We were seated immediately at a small table top with steel stools. The stools at the bar seemed more comfortable with their wooden and slightly wider seats. The tables are so small it was hard to fit drinks and food together. It appears that they are trying to maximize space at the expense of comfort for their patrons. There are hooks on the walls to hang your coat, but with the tables are so tightly spaced you are crowding other customers. In short the food is fine, tastes good. Expensive and tiny portions. Poor value. The appetizer was a welcome surprise- stuffed zucchini flowers. One of our favorites. Two nice sized flowers stuffed with cheese over some rough greens- not worth $25.00; that breaks down to a little over $4.00 per bit. I was amazed by the quality of the food coming out of such a small kitchen. Two chefs working in a 6' x 10" space, please ignore the two microwave ovens. The kitchen is open and I enjoyed seeing the workers and energy they put into preparing the food. Our table was very close to the kitchen and the staff was slinging silverware from one tray that had just been washed, wiping it down and throwing it into another tray. The loud clanking of the silverware and regular crashing of the used plates did not add to the dining experience. Our waiter Ermir H. was excellent--attentive and knowledgeable. The staff in general needed to be slight and slender or they would be bumping into tables and guests, that is how tight it really is in the front dining space. They have one bathroom, which I could see caused frustration for many of the customers. The Flauto di Pollo Farcito ~ chicken rollatini filled with turkey ham ( cheaper than the traditional prosciutto or pancetta for this dish), fontina cheese, breaded & seared, served over mixed salad, not really worth $26.00. The Bucatini alla Norma ~ fried eggplant, fresh tomatoes, basil & baked salted ricotta. The pasta was al dente and tasted fresh. Small dish. I'm not sure how often they have updated their website, but prices listed seemed to be a dollar or two less then what you are going to be charged. I find this special note also a bit frustrating- "Due to rising costs, an Operating Fee of 3.35% is applied on all orders. This is unrelated to any form of payment. Get a 3.25% discount on your order when you pay with Cash". As another reviewer noted "since when is paying by credit card a punishment for the customer?" I am finding this more and more throughout the country. Pre-covid everyone wanted to eliminate cash now "Cash is King". With so many great Italian restaurants at better price points in NYC I would have to say I will not be back to Giardino 54. read more

We were able to get a reservation and walked over. Upon entering you know you are walking in to a hidden gem. We sat in the back and were greeted by a lovely waiter who took such good care of us. The burrata on the thinly sliced beets with oranges and black olives and almonds was superb. This is the second time I've been to this restaurant when I've visited NYC and so far, it has yet to disappoint! This cute, local Italian restaurant boasts quaint garden seating and handmade pasta. You can tell it's a place where the locals frequent for a intimate date night or a celebration gathering. Prior to the meal they serve toasted bread with an olive oil/vinegar. The first time I came, I had the gnocchi in the cream sauce which was heavenly.
