My fiancé randomly found The Marshal while searching for a suitable Saturday brunch spot in the city. He accidentally made a reservation for our group to be seated outside when it should have been indoors. The staff were very accommodating getting us seated even though they had a lot of upcoming reservations for the day. I was happy to discover they had mimosas available, my favorite. They had so many yummy sounding things on their brunch menu, but I simply had to try their gluten-free mushroom, egg, & arugula pizza. It had absolutely no right to be as good as it was. The service was nice and I appreciate that they do take consideration to ensure safe gluten-free dining. My only complaint is that The Marshal isn't closer to home.

I had a reservation, which was good because this place was packed! It's kind of got an industrial vibe and it so loud. Although my reservation was for five they only had a table for 4 but my friend's wife didn't make it so it all worked out. The staff were so nice, but they were definitely understaffed. I ordered sparkling water and had to ask to get it later and he forgot I asked. The food was amazing, so tasty! That was the best part. The meatballs were so good and I was so hungry I didn't get a pic. The pizzas are huge. Maybe split one. The entrees are a good portion. And the dessert was delicious.

Great food and great service for a small cute restaurant with maybe 12 tables. We're shared three appetizers - Mac and Cheese, chicken wings, and ribs - and a beets salad. All were delicious We also had cobbler for dessert. The odd part was they don't serve decaf coffee.

This was a great lunch spot in the city. I was in the mood for breakfast food and they had a nice selection to choose from even though they are known for their pizza. The ambiance is extremely cozy however fairly dim lit if that is what you are into. The place is fairly small and tables are close together but it didn't get in the way of eating or leaving.

We had a delicious pre show dinner here. Located in Hell's Kitchen, great option for those going to catch a show. I recommend making a reservation. This place reminds me of the episode of Portlandia where the server tells them where the chicken is from, what its name was and they visit the farm. This is not a bad thing, just emphasizing that they use local ingredients. The food was amazing! We loved the Brussels sprouts salad and the mac and cheeses we shared both of those. The ribs were good but a tad spicy. My sister said her burger was the best she ever had. Service was great. I do want to point out that some of the tables are quite close together and you may feel like you are dining with others. We had a two top along the wall and did not have that experience. Would go back if in the area again.

The Marshal has delicious oven brick pizza! We ordered the burrata and baby back ribs for appetizers, but the theee meat pizza was hands down the winner for me! The restaurant is very small, so would recommend making a reservation, especially around peak hours.

Excellent service. The food is a little pricy, but it was very good. Burger was great. Ambiance is small and tiny.

What a super friendly, cozy and delicious place with a diverse farm to table offering. Our waiter - Dawson - was absolutely the best and very informative about how they source their food and the care they take with it. Everything was very tasty with a clear winner of the meatballs and the salad. So delicious all around. Highly recommend.

At the Marshall last night for a wine dinner. Absolutely amazing! Both food & wines were top-notch. I have to give extra kudos to Charlie Marshall, chef & owner. He went above & beyond to accommodate my husband's non-alcoholic preference, making a special drink for each course. Please support this wonderful oasis in the heart of New York City. I will be back again! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Tiny place full of character. Love the brick walls and even though I had to squeeze into my seat after moving the table I enjoyed the experience. My meal was delicious and the sweet potato fries were just crispy enough. My partners meal, however, was flavorless. The sauce tasted like a semi brothy water and he just didn't like how much there was of it.

It was oddly a Sunday and we were actually walking a few blocks to meet others for dinner, but I came across this place and couldn't help but stop for a slice...as a snack! And I'm glad I did! it restored my faith in NY pizza, reminded me that NY pizza could never taste like any normal NY pizza even if they said it was NY pizza, but this was definitely NY PIZZA! We got a slice of pepperoni and a slice of Margherita and it just melted in my mouth. The flavors, the perfection of the thin crust, the seasoning -- I wish I lived much closer! We also got garlic knots which were awesome also! I enjoyed the sitting at the counter experience and having an ice cold coke with my slice. It was the best snack before my next dinner meal and I cannot complain at all! This is definitely one of my favorite pizza places in NY!

The slices were huge, thin, and had that signature foldable crust with a great balance of crispness and chew. The Pepperoni was one of my favorites. It came loaded with generous amounts of pepperoni, and the thin crust let all the flavors shine without feeling too heavy. Simple, classic, and really satisfying. The standout, though, was the Meat Lovers. I'm usually not the biggest fan of combination pizzas, but this one completely changed my mind. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the generous toppings were well-balanced without overwhelming the crust. It was easily the highlight of the meal. The Plain Cheese was the weakest of the three not because it was bad, but because it was exactly what you'd expect from a classic cheese slice. It had a nice cheesy flavor and solid texture, just nothing particularly memorable compared to the other two. Service was impressively fast despite the long line, and the Spider-Man-themed décor gave the restaurant a fun, unique New York vibe. Overall, I really enjoyed the pizza and can confidently say it lived up to the New York-style reputation. If I had to compare it to Pizza My Heart, I'd give this place a slight edge.

The arancini was a standout: perfectly crisp on the outside, creamy inside, and served with a rich, delicious sauce that tied it all together. We ended on the tiramisu, which was absolutely worth saving room. It was light, flavorful, and a perfect finish to the meal. What really elevated the experience, though, was the staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and helpful--especially notable for New York--and it made the whole evening feel relaxed and welcoming. A small heads-up: it's a bit tricky to find, so give yourself extra time. That said, the hidden, underground subway setting is part of the charm and makes the whole experience feel unique. I'd love to see more restaurants creatively use these kinds of spaces in the future.

To start with the good: the arancini were perfectly passable, and the Sicilian pie was enjoyed by all. I would describe it as more of a Detroit style actually, with a super crispy crust and nice textural contrast. On the other hand, we did not enjoy the seasonal vegetable pie or the nepo pie. I generally really like this sort of no-cheese, umami-heavy pizza, but the nepo was so salty! I'm not sure what specific ingredient was missing, but missing it was. My hopes for a recreation of the rossa pie I enjoyed at Farina prior to their closure were dashed. As for the vegetable pie, the vegetables tasted like the frozen veggies one might find in what was once marketed as a "TV dinner". It was a shame, since the sauce of the white pie was otherwise pretty good.

RIGHT BY THE DOOR. Do people not realize that putting a bar near a door on a freezing cold night benefits no one? Good thing I did not order alcohol or I would have froze to death. Seriously, none of the pies stood out in grand memory. All I can think of is, well, nothing. Nothing positive anyway. The names of the pies are funny, and the staff is friendly, but besides that, the quality of the food for lack of a better word, dare I say it, sucks. Hoping to salvage the meal, I ordered their Chicken Parmesan. It was the Hail Mary pass that unfortunately did not connect. The cutlets are overcooked and dry, and the red sauce cooked with it has minimal tomato flavor. At least the spaghetti is cooked to a nice al dente and mellow garlic butter flavor, but like the sauce cooked in, it is also minimal. Part of the problem I feel is they are trying to go for a vibe that has a New York and modern feel. It does not work. Stay true to one or the other. Or at least look at other business models. I will use another pizzeria in Bushwick that exemplifies it perfectly. It is a hipster pizzeria in a hipster neighborhood. Through balance, it creates an ambiance both welcoming and warm without losing any of its Bushwick character. It does this by not beating you over the head with hipster vibes, just enough to let you know that you are in Bushwick. The band Franz Ferdinand was playing as I was wrapping up. Rather than take the pizza out, I suggest you throw it out. Overall pizza rating: 1.7/5

The first thing you notice is the main bar wall, with its exposed centuries-old brick that has survived every bit of chaos this city could throw at it. It's subtly backlit from with a warm, amber glow that highlights every single historic groove and imperfection, making the whole room look like it's breathing. I have to say the centerpiece of the entire narrow room is the bar itself, and let me tell you, it is an absolute stunner of a contrast. Instead of the usual dark, sticky tavern wood, they've dropped in a long, continuous slab of pristine, elegantly smooth white stone. It glows under the soft lighting like a block of polished marble. There are no strobe lights and no obnoxious, skull-rattling bass in this joint. Instead, the room is wrapped in a blanket of incredibly chill music that matches the pulse of the room perfectly. It's just loud enough to drown out the noise in your own head, but quiet enough that you don't have to scream over the smooth white counter to be heard. People aren't here to be seen on TikTok; they're here to disappear for an hour or three. You slide into a chair, order a proper Old Fashioned from a bartender who doesn't rush the pour, and watch the ice melt against the amber-lit brick. It's the ultimate underground exhale--a perfect, narrow slice of peace in a city that never shuts up. Cheers!
