Carbonara
Ryan W.

Sicily is a phenomenal Italian restaurant just off broadway. The service staff is great and the food was even better. I ordered the Carbonara, a dish very difficult to find prepared correctly and it was just as good as the Carbonara I have eaten in Rome. Will be a must visit every time I'm in NYC.

I came here with friends for brunch in Feb before going to see Chess on Broadway a block over. The place is quite large & the space is light and bright. Based on Yelp reviews I got the Spaghetti Chitarra (delicious!) while my friends had more standard options off the brunch menu (fritatta & brunch bistecca) which they thought were decent. They also had a Bloody Mary and Sangria, while I got a Sicilian Breeze. We shared the Limone di Sicilia dessert--such a cute presentation looking just like a lemon, and a very nice refreshing taste! I would come back for it! We also finished off with coffees/tea (cappuccino, espresso, peppermint tea). Service was friendly. Definitely a nice option if you're going to the theater and wanted to dine somewhere convenient on Restaurant Row.

A great restaurant for pre theater or post theater. The steaks are very good as well as the pastas

Wow! What a lovely restaurant. We were going to see a broadway show and this was 2 blocks away. We had the most leisurely meal ever. The servers and staff were super attentive and met all our needs without being intrusive. It was decorated so pretty for Christmas and the general decor is elegant and classic. The food and drinks were excellent! Prosecco, Sicilian breeze, Capri Rush and San Giovese red. We shared a crocche appetizer and Cesar salad. Dinners included the crab cake appetizer, Cacio e Pepe, lasagna, and carbonara. They sang happy birthday to me with a delightful Limone di Sicilia and Torta Al Formaggio. It was truly a magical meal.

Whether before or after a Broadway play, Sicily Osteria is always a welcoming addition to your day out. Food is always consistently delicious, authentic, and fresh. I love their wood fired pizza's cooked to perfection. Always asked about the specials, sometimes they forget to mention them, case in point we overheard another waiter mention the specials and our waiter had no idea about them. Well today they had stuffed zucchini flowers and they were amazing, brought back the memories of visiting Italy. Decent wine list and full bar. Definitely recommend and make a reservation before you go. Has a lot of unique spaces and nice atmosphere but fills up very quickly.

We came right before a broadway show and had no trouble getting a seat, although by 6:30 it was very busy. We shared the fichi pizza, gnocchi sorrentina, Caesar salad, and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was so good! The tiramisu was standout though. A very unique presentation. They did seem a little understaffed once it got busy, so it was hard to get ahold of our waitress near the end.

Overall great food and flavors but missed the mark on really making our visit a 5 stars. We went with a group of 5 persons. And which I thought would be an easy going night and since it was near Broadway, people would be filtering out by 8pm. However this was not the case. Which is always a good problem for the restaurant to have. As it was so busy! Almost every table including the back room (which we were seated) was full. It was hard to flag down our waiter as he was so busy. But ok we were not in a rush so we were not mad. We just relaxed and whenever our server came he came. We ordered a few apps, from the burrata, meatballs, Caesar salad and the octopus, they were so delicious! The octopus was a generous portion and the burrata was so fresh and creamy. Only thing is I was hoping to get the complimentary bread which I saw photos of, but it is no longer complimentary !!! You have to pay $5 for it now!! So that was upsetting ! Next we ordered the eggplant parm, chicken parm, salmon, and 2 different pastas. However the pastas were both similar flavor and was not different. But we loved the salmon and the parms! Overall, it was a good evening, food is good, but service needs help. They need to hire more people to work here.

Overall Visit We stopped by here for dinner before a show and had a reservation. We were immediately greeted by the host with a smile. I didn't look at photos beforehand of the seating setup, but I guess my face said it all when we got to our table, the staff quickly noticed and kindly offered to move us. She suggested the outdoor section with a window roof, which sounded nice, so we went for it. It was pretty, but honestly, if I came back, I'd probably choose a different spot, it felt a bit tucked away and harder to get noticed by the servers. Bread Service We were brought complimentary bread and olive oil, which was a nice touch though we had to ask for the balsamic vinegar because like... they're a combo, right? Drinks Our server was friendly and welcoming, which was such a breath of fresh air for NYC, people here aren't exactly known for being warm, so that stood out. The cocktails were great overall. I had the Watermelon Sugar (so good!) but was a bit disappointed in the lemon garnish, it didn't match the profile, and a watermelon slice would've been better and seen it in photos like that too. The drink was still good. The Capri Rush, which to me tasted a bit like lemon cleaning product, maybe just me, but not my favorite. Food Now, for the food, OMG. I quickly skimmed Yelp and saw everyone raving about the Spaghetti Chitarra, and let me tell you... it did not disappoint. Absolutely phenomenal, the pasta texture, the sauce, the crab meat, pistachios, chef's kiss. Trust me, just order it. We also had the Branzino and the Polpette (meatballs), the meatballs are technically an appetizer, but if you want something lighter, they could easily work as a small entrée. The branzino was also excellent. Restrooms & Accessibility The restrooms are located downstairs and the stairs are quite steep, but they also have an accessible restroom on the main level, which I really appreciated. Overall Incredible food and cocktails, warm service, and a lovely atmosphere. Just a few small quirks with the seating, but I'd absolutely come back.

Pros: Space was beautiful and large. Not too loud. Servers were nice. Reservation was on time. Cons: wine a little pricy and not a single sweet wine. Minestrone soup was just potatoes and no broth. And we were saving the bread to snack on after our meals but they took the whole untouched basket away (before we were fully finished with the meal) so we never got to try it.

Came here for a bite to eat at 12:30 pm before a 2 pm matinee. We didn't have a reservation and just walked in. The restaurant is deceivingly large inside and had tons of seating. My husband and I started with the warmed ricotta with honey. We liked it, but it needed more honey. The cheese was super fresh and creamy though. We ordered their $5 homemade bread as well, thinking they didn't put any bread on the table and we would need it for the ricotta. Turns out they do give you table bread, and while the warmed skilled bread was good, it wasn't necessary. We chose to share the carbonara and skirt steak. Both were excellent, really decently sized and would get again. The star of the entire meal was dessert. We ordered the lemon mousse and it turns out it's mousse with curd, and it's dipped in chocolate to look like a lemon. Until we cracked into it, we genuinely couldn't tell it wasn't a real lemon. How this isn't tik tok famous, their signature dish, everyone isn't talking about it, I'm not sure, it was out of this world. It comes with this delicious crumble around it. Definitely recommend anyone coming here for a pre dinner meal!

I walked around after work looking for a place with happy hour specials and found Sicily. It's a lot bigger inside than it appears from the outside. The servers and host greeted me as I went in. I sat at the bar and ordered their Limoncello Spritz and later the Aperol Spritz which were both light and refreshing. For an appetizer, I tried their Panelle (chickpea fritters). They were crispy and paired very well with the tomato based dipping sauce provided. I also ordered their Spaghetti Chitarra off the main menu. Not a lot of crab meat in it but it was creamy and filled me up. Had an issue with the bartender charging me for more drinks than I actually ordered but he rectified my bill. Overall, good service and good Italian food. The happy hour deals here are pretty good for New York.

Very kids friendly! What a gorgeous restaurant and amazing service. We sat in the back covered patio with plenty of space. Delicious food! The Fettuccine ai Funghi had plenty of truffle aroma. Kids meals were large as well. Excellent experience all around!

I wanted to like Sicily more than I did:/ To be fair- the last time I had Sicilian food I was in Palermo! My group of 3 had a reservation on a Friday night. I started off with a glass of Chianti. We split the panelle as our starter. It was not as light as I am used to. For my main I ordered the chicken, which was good, but nothing amazing. This is also something silly to note, but their menu on the website is difficult to navigate on a mobile device. Sicily still gets 4 stars because the service is fantastic. Some of the best I've had in Manhattan I would say. I would definitely come back and give some other dishes a shot.

Indoor is cute and they have a great backyard patio. Waiter had an italian accent so felt very authentic. Split the Margherita & Diavola pizzas and Rucola e Parmigiano salad with 4 people and it was a perfect amount of food. Loved the salad (must get) & both pizzas, but my fave was the Diavola. Paired with a crisp white wine, which the waiter recommended. Funny though - the one glass of wine was the same price as the Margherita pizza, but that's NYC for ya!

Sicilian theme with selection of wines to match. Nice ambiance and good people in and out We were served some bread and olive oil poured table side - nice show....and tasty olive oil. I had the pasta pommodoro and it was super. Pasta cooked aldente and the sauce had good acidity but balanced with sweetness and the salt from the parmesan. Worked well...it was a small portion but I shared some and the others loved it. Pizzas were the other mains and an arugula salad was the starter. The arugula was OK...standard fare. Good pizza with thin crust and really nice sauce and cheese well balanced. Anchovies were a little scarce but tasty... Overall a great experience. I highly recommend this place.

Even though it was peak time on a friday, the host found a way to seat us. The food was awesome, especially the green tagliatelle. Would definitely go back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Value: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Food: We ordered the bruschetta, lasagna, and green tagliatelle with boar ragu. The bread for the table was a single focaccia about 5" in diameter and maybe 1.5" tall. It wasn't the dense, oily focaccia you typically see, but a moist and fluffy bread almost like a dinner roll. The bruschetta was very flavorful, but slightly disappointing because it used the same foccacia. The lasagna had great flavor and texture. The tagliatelle was the highlight of the meal - the pasta was cooked perfectly and truffle oil and shavings shone through. Service: Service was awesome. In addition to helping resolve our reservation issue, the staff were helpful in suggesting dishes and were prompt and communicative Value: The pastas are in the $25-$30 range and the bruschetta was $22. Thats pretty standard for the area for good pasta, but maybe a little much for the bread. Atmosphere: Even considering we were here the night before valentines day, the place was surprisingly subdued and laid back. Tables were a little crowded but not on top of each other and the noise level was reasonable.

Neither is the hummus with feta cheese, although props to the Greek influence in that area for hundreds of years. Our server was lovely at making great suggestions and helping us pick out a good red to enjoy with our meal. The music and crowd made it hard to hear and chat with my friend, but I don't blame people for turning out in droves given the amazing weather. I may try their other location in midtown to compare, but this was not at all what I expected given the reviews.
