This spot is good but was underwhelming. The staff is very polite and professional. I had the dirty martini and it was not good. Had a thick layer of ice shards on top and tasted like an ice water with a splash of olive juice. The meatballs were hot and had flavor but were a little rubbery. I will say, the Brussels sprouts were delicious! Definitely the highlight!

ORECCHIETTE BARESE $25 - Italian sausage, broccoli rabe, peperoncino (takeout order)

Bocca di Bacco - ordered take out here a few times and keep forgetting to write review! I've only tried the pasta here though the ones I've tried are solid and I'm sure I'll be back for more. The restaurant interior evokes the essence of a modern Tuscan tavern, with a ceiling of exposed wooden beams mixed with sections of mini-coffered tiles, a wall of mottled brick to the right, opposite a sleek long bar to left directly inside the front entrance. White walls with black trimmed windows wrap around the front. Pasta dishes are a little pricey at $22-32 though in servings are generous. Mains run between $34-45. What I've tried: - Gnocchi Pesto with fresh basil, pine nuts $25: I love a good pesto and theirs is fragrant and nutty. I'm not a huge gnocchi fan in general (even the fluffiest of these feels heavy after a few bites), though they do theirs well here. - Orecchiette Barese with Italian sausage, broccoli rabe, peperoncino $25: drench anything in quality olive oil, roasted garlic with a couple pinches of salt snd it's hard to say no. I was simultaneously wary at the amount of oil pooling at the bottom of the pasta, yet stuffing the al dente pasta into my face because it was delicious. - Rigatoni Pollo Pazzo with grilled chicken, vodka sauce, and sun dried tomatoes $28: flavorful sauce, chicken pieces were surprisingly tender. - Fettucine Bolognese with homemade meat sauce $28: textbook rendition from what I could tell. Since I've really only done takeout or delivery here I can't say much about the service, though my experiences to date have been neutral or positive.

Ummm absolutely amazing! My aunts birthday on November 8th at 7pm. It was a party of 5 and we weee seated very fast. They had a great flow going and I was impressed with. The restaurants was not big but I think that aspect makes it much better more exclusive. We all explained the specials and the waiters got everything correct and worked very efficiently. They didn't rush but they take their time. We had just the amount of room from each courts to the next The food was phenomenal!!!!!! Like definitely we were stunned !! My aunt goes there alot and I'm happy we listened to her. I loved the place, the atmosphere, the music, the vibezzz, the food and just left in awe! We sang happy birthday to her and ended a beautiful family night together! Thank you for the remarkable night!

    Lunch Prix Fixe Tiramisu

This place has an amazing 3-course lunch prix fixe for $25!!! Where are you finding this nowadays? You get a choice of app, entree and dessert. It's where I go to treat myself to a 3-course lunch. I've tried different apps like fried zucchini and tuna tartare. Both were very good. I really love the Penne a la Vodka. The tiramisu is awesome. They don't usually have a lunch crowd, so it's very low key. It's a big space. The servers kinda just bring you your food and leave you alone. It could be slow getting their attention. All in all, a great sit down lunch option in the area.

We arrived early so decided to try their Happy Hour before sitting for dinner, the bartender Elonie, was extremely personable and friendly, she gave my wife a tasting of the wine to make sure she liked it first, which she did, I had an awesome old-fashioned, the food we had half a dozen oysters and meatballs, my only ding on the place would be the meatballs were a little rubbery, everything else is fantastic. We sat for dinner, our waiter Salvatore was spectacular, and recommended fantastic wine. We started with the octopus very big portion. tender and delicious then we had the salmon and the Bronzino both were delicious, Salvatore was very accommodating to change out the potatoes for extra vegetables since we try not to eat too much white starch. Overall, it was a fantastic meal. I would definitely go back and I definitely recommend it.

Food was good but not wowing. I got the cacio e pepe, but it was a little bland. Easy to walk in on a Monday night.

    Sangria!!
    Anne S.

I ducked in here on a windy, rainy day for some good comfort food, and I got it!!! The bartender took such good care of me, and gave excellent recommendations. The sangria is very nice and they don't skimp on the fruit in that drink! He recommended the linguini vongole. It was VERY good, a teeny bit much on the red pepper flakes, but no big deal. It just left my lips a little tingly. I just washed it down with more sangria!! The vibe there was very chill, perfect for a date night or pre-show dinner. I'd love to come back to try more. Well done!!

One of my favorite restaurants! They have one of the best happy hours in the city from Sunday through Friday from 4 to closing! Everything I've had here is really good. They change their menu often so there is always something new from calamari, oysters rockefeller and tuna tartare. I really enjoy their burger and the fries are really good. I really like their basil boca for a cocktail. They also make a really good and spicy margarita. The vibe here is lively but also a great date night spot. They use real candles that create a romantic vibe. They have negronis made with different spirits in fancy glass beverage dispensers on the bar. And Ulises is the best bartender! Super knowledgable and friendly.

Came here for a pre-wedding dinner so I had no expectations. Out of a party of about 30, I ordered the Beef Carpaccio and the Spicy Pink Sausage pasta (from a limited menu) with a dessert of cheesecake. The servers were knowledgeable and attentive in a crowded room. The music was great and the wine selection didn't disappoint! This is a place I'd probably come back to so that I can see a full menu.

    Linguini pesto

Stopped here on the way to a Broadway show for some good italian. Great service, Issac and Salvatore were attentive! Ravioli with lobster is a must! Linguini pesto was very fresh. Not pictured is the Mushroom Crostini we had for app, it was good as well!

The waiter was very nice. The place is huge but it was packed on a Saturday night. They decorated for the holidays. The bread is fantastic and they give you EVOO and tomatoes for it. I got the gnocchi but with butter sauce and it was a good portion. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly. Little pillows. The person I was with got the special which was veal risotto. It was quite pricey but good. He said the meat was super tender. It was very filling. We split the chocolate molten cake. It was yummy. The crunchy crumbs were great.

The ambiance is superb and unmatched from the lighting decor and candles. The food was equally as great. Dishes were pricey for pasta but normal for steak. Got the shrimp pasta for $42 and steak frites 16oz (I think) also for $42. The shrimp were beyond huge I've ever seen before. The sauce was very vinegary and tangy which I didn't like but my friend who order really liked so that's good but just keep in mind. The steak sauce was great and unique. Perfectly cooked and flavored. Main issue with this was for some reason it was a really hard to cut steak with the knife not being that sharp and for some reason having this stringy substance running through entire steak which I haven't experienced before. The fries were in huge quantity and delicious. The dessert of chocolate molten lava cake $16 was amazing as well, a must get! Main thing was... service reallyyyy lacked. The gap between tables were insanely small and felt as if we were sharing an eating space with strangers and barely enough for a child to pass through if they wanted to get up. Also servers were not attentive at all. They didn't come to check up on us in any way and they didn't even look at us when we were trying to signal them over to order food or get the check. We felt really invisible and took a long time to flag them down for anything. Overall, good food and ambiance with decent ish prices but dining in service and experience not the best.

Spicy vodka rigatoni (delicious and light on spice!)
    Britta M.

This restaurant is absolutely perfect... I will try to return every time I am in NYC. The waitstaff is always friendly and welcoming, the inside is cozy and romantic, and the food is delicious. If you come in or order to-go for lunch they have a special that includes a pasta, starter, and dessert for a great deal! I chose the crabcakes, spicy vodka rigatoni, and tiramisu. All were thoroughly enjoyable and they had an array of options to choose from! Our favorite pastas are the spicy vodka rigatoni (perfectly cooked pasta in a rich creamy sauce, very light spice), and the gnocchi alla sorrentina (so delicious and covered in a robust red sauce). We've brought multiple groups to this restaurant and all were quite pleased with their meals!

Particularly the penne funghi is to die for. Tried the linguine vongole clam pasta for the first time and was pretty good as well! Just wish there was more sauce and the clams were the tiniest size I've seen which was disappointing and to make matters worse, a good 1/3 of them were empty. Besides that, the meal was delightful and still great value as it was delicious with huge portions! Love! However, service at this particular branch is nowhere near as good as other branches. I understand it's busy and it's always incredibly crowded with people and cramped seating and loud music/voices but this was like no other. When I arrived party of 2, they had nearly 5 tables empty and yet we couldn't sit at any of them because the had to wait for reservations to see if they arrived and we had to wait 15 min but they said they'd let us know. We were forced to sit at the bar which the giant metal can of alcohol bottles took up 1/2 my seating/dining area and no one bothered to move it or ask if that was okay because obviously it wasn't but the didn't care. We waited awhile for the food to come and during that time we asked if there really wasn't any table availability since tables clearly open and the denied again even though reservations never came. Literally 3 tables remains consistently empty throughout our entire dining experience confined to the cramped bar area. They even closed the door, separating the outdoor diners which was weird and it became insufferably hot inside, even on a cold windy day. Bathroom situation here is also terrible as it is downstairs with steep narrow stairs and me and other customers almost bumped into each other and staff carrying multitude of food dishes and dirty dishes up and down the stairs. Never have I ever had such an undelightful experience going to bathroom at a restaurant. Additionally, sink water pressure either had no water coming out or a giant spray of water making it impossible to wash hands without getting a whole shower. This location really needs work. Only reason why I'm not giving it five stars is because I love Fumo as a whole. Just skip this location.

We were also touched by the complimentary anniversary scoop of ice cream. The interior seating is a bit snug, but the decor is beautiful--elegant yet homey. The service was good as well. Overall, we highly recommend L'Artusi for a special night out!

L'Artusi has been on my radar for a while, ever since I heard it was a hot spot and saw reviews of…read moreit being one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Being Italian American, I'm hypercritical of spots like these - but nevertheless the positive reviews were overwhelming so I wanted to check it out for myself. One of my friends and I were looking to catch up, so I booked a table and off we went. While it can be tricky to get a reservation during prime dinner time, it's relatively easy to get a lunch reservation - or an early/late dinner. I managed to get a reservation for dinner at 9:15pm which was the earliest I could find. The restaurant is pretty unassuming on the outside - it looks like a converted brownstone and once inside we were greeted by a large space with a sceney vibe. The space is split between two levels with a large bar up front and a semi-open kitchen in the back. The decor was modern - with lots of greys and neutral tones which was a little unexpected. The main star of the menu is pasta, but they also have a few non-pasta mains as well as some crudo selections, apps, and sides. We decided to get a few apps, two pastas, and one side. To start, we went with the octopus, roasted mushrooms, burrata crostone, and focaccia. These were all really good, but my favorite was the mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were prepared with red pepper and fried egg and were delicious; it cut through the earthiness and changed the texture to something I really enjoyed. The focaccia was also a standout - it's house made and was paired with a peppery oil that complemented the bread well. For mains we split two pastas - the caccio e pepe and the rigatoni. Both of these were very good, though I felt the rigatoni was the stronger dish. It was prepared with sausage ragu, soppressata, broccoli rabe pesto, and pecorino. The flavors worked really well together and the pasta was cooked al dente. The caccio e pepe was perfectly fine, I just feel it's been overplayed and didn't feel there was anything that stood out amongst the others I've tried. We also got a broccoli rabe as a side which was great. We couldn't leave without dessert and decided to get their olive oil cake and quattro formaggio cheesecake. The restaurant is known for the former - it was perfectly fine but I've had olive oil cakes elsewhere of the same or better quality. The cheesecake was the stronger dessert IMO - the combination of cheeses gave it an interesting, almost savory flavor. The brûlée top and mascerated strawberries were great texture and flavor complements. Service was great - the place was packed but service was consistently on point and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Artusi. While everything was very good, I'm struggling to find the exact reason why this place became such a hot spot compared to other Italian spots in the city. Nevertheless, you'll have a good meal here and I would definitely return if given the opportunity.

I read the reviews mostly good so I was hoping for the best. My friends and I were not disappointed. The first thing I noticed was there were 7 people in my party and 4 arrived early and did not have to wait for my arrival to be seated. Second the waiter who took our order was polite and on point with specials and knowledge of the menu. He (just never caught his name) suggested the Rigatoni which chicken and sausage. I am not really a pasta eater but baby that dish could change that; it was DELICIOUS. I even liked the anchovy dressing on my Caesar Salad and I dislike anchovies. All the dishes ordered (chicken parm, mussels chicken paillard etc.) everyone enjoyed them immensely. The only negative was when the Chicken Paiikard arrived it was supposed to a shared dish by the elderly couple and they asked for regular dinner plates from one of the servers. It took the gentleman who took our order to step in and said sure, lucky their food was still hot. Common Sense is not so common for all. But this will not lower my rating as it was taken care of swiftly. The portions were the perfect size and I was not stuffed but pleasantly satified.
