Nice little Italian eatery in Chelsea, stopped in for dinner with no reservations and only waited for a minute. The food is to die for!

Randomly stumbled upon this spot after a morning of volunteering in the area. There were many elderly couples casually dining there even at a later time in the afternoon.

Staff was great. Delicious warm bread with olive oil. Both our dishes were excellent. Chicken Milanese and linguine bolognese. Had a nice red wine with dinner. Beautiful decor.

Absolutely delicious, great service and ambiance. I had the shrimp fra divalo with a side of steamed broccoli and very tasty bread. My word, the pear pastry and ice cream was incredible. I'll be back!

I bring everyone I love to this place. It is so delicious, and truly I have not found anywhere better in NJ or NY yet. I adore the service, the ambience, the food, everything about it. The fettuccine with mushroom and cream sauce and truffle oil is incredible, but I usually go between that, the fettuccine norcina, and the pesto and burrata. Also to die for!

Came with some friends for lunch and my favorite dishes were the prosciutto pizza and sausage pasta. Service was great. Prices are relatively reasonable and there is an automatic 20% gratuity added on for large groups. Beautiful restaurant.

A cozy neighborhood spot! It was pretty crowded for a Sunday but we were lucky enough to sit at the chefs table even though we might have had to share with others but we didn't mind that. The pastas and pizzas seemed very home made and the waiters checked in on us multiple times. Overall a really solid meal and affordable pricing for NYC - would be back for a hearty meal!

Amazing spot for a high quality and well priced Italian meal in Chelsea. I was craving some really good chicken parm, and Pepe Giallo did it right. Super crispy, flavorful sauce and lots of cheese. I'm here for it. The parm also came with a side of really tasty and garlicky sauteed spinach. We also tried the sausage pizza and the bruschetta. Both standout. The bruschetta was literally the highlight of the meal, on such good bread with the most fresh tomatoes. The ambiance is super cute and it's exactly the type of vibe you'd want at a cozy little Italian eatery downtown. There are a few small tables on the patio, and we loved eating outside. Wash everything down with a spritz! They have a wine liquor license, so it's not technically an aperol spritz, but it tasted the same and I enjoyed it. It's hard to figure out where to eat in the city with endless options, but for comforting Italian food and fair prices this is a wonderful choice. Would definitely return.

Pepe Giallo is a beautiful space from the outside to the inside to the garden in the back. I went for lunch on a Saturday as a walk in on my birthday and I'm so glad I did. It was my first time there and the waiter told us they were booked for the night so we were happy to get in for lunch. There is so much care and love put into the decor evidenced by the hanging plants and fresh flowers on each table, it really set the mood. We ordered penne a la vodka and prosciutto pizza and both dishes were delicious. Chris was our server and he was attentive and friendly and invited us to view the garden. We will definitely return with friends to experience eating in the garden and try other dishes. If I had one complaint it would be that the AC was on artic. It was 85 degrees outside so it's understandable why it was so cold inside but it prevented me from drinking my cold beverage.

This was THE perfect and dreamiest birthday spot - cannot give high enough praise to this establishment. They were able to accommodate a large party with little notice and the decor was so gorgeous. Also, it was super affordable considering the area and we loved their pasta. They didn't have any cocktails on the menu but the wine was great and we had the best time. For my birthday song they even turned off the lights and made me feel super special. Can't wait to come back!

Fun spot to get dinner in Chelsea. Great prices, beautiful decorations. We sat outside in the back room so it was a little hot but it was so beautiful. Delicious pasta, my favorite was the penne vodka!

It was oddly a Sunday and we were actually walking a few blocks to meet others for dinner, but I came across this place and couldn't help but stop for a slice...as a snack! And I'm glad I did! it restored my faith in NY pizza, reminded me that NY pizza could never taste like any normal NY pizza even if they said it was NY pizza, but this was definitely NY PIZZA! We got a slice of pepperoni and a slice of Margherita and it just melted in my mouth. The flavors, the perfection of the thin crust, the seasoning -- I wish I lived much closer! We also got garlic knots which were awesome also! I enjoyed the sitting at the counter experience and having an ice cold coke with my slice. It was the best snack before my next dinner meal and I cannot complain at all! This is definitely one of my favorite pizza places in NY!

The slices were huge, thin, and had that signature foldable crust with a great balance of crispness and chew. The Pepperoni was one of my favorites. It came loaded with generous amounts of pepperoni, and the thin crust let all the flavors shine without feeling too heavy. Simple, classic, and really satisfying. The standout, though, was the Meat Lovers. I'm usually not the biggest fan of combination pizzas, but this one completely changed my mind. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the generous toppings were well-balanced without overwhelming the crust. It was easily the highlight of the meal. The Plain Cheese was the weakest of the three not because it was bad, but because it was exactly what you'd expect from a classic cheese slice. It had a nice cheesy flavor and solid texture, just nothing particularly memorable compared to the other two. Service was impressively fast despite the long line, and the Spider-Man-themed décor gave the restaurant a fun, unique New York vibe. Overall, I really enjoyed the pizza and can confidently say it lived up to the New York-style reputation. If I had to compare it to Pizza My Heart, I'd give this place a slight edge.

The arancini was a standout: perfectly crisp on the outside, creamy inside, and served with a rich, delicious sauce that tied it all together. We ended on the tiramisu, which was absolutely worth saving room. It was light, flavorful, and a perfect finish to the meal. What really elevated the experience, though, was the staff. Everyone was genuinely kind and helpful--especially notable for New York--and it made the whole evening feel relaxed and welcoming. A small heads-up: it's a bit tricky to find, so give yourself extra time. That said, the hidden, underground subway setting is part of the charm and makes the whole experience feel unique. I'd love to see more restaurants creatively use these kinds of spaces in the future.

To start with the good: the arancini were perfectly passable, and the Sicilian pie was enjoyed by all. I would describe it as more of a Detroit style actually, with a super crispy crust and nice textural contrast. On the other hand, we did not enjoy the seasonal vegetable pie or the nepo pie. I generally really like this sort of no-cheese, umami-heavy pizza, but the nepo was so salty! I'm not sure what specific ingredient was missing, but missing it was. My hopes for a recreation of the rossa pie I enjoyed at Farina prior to their closure were dashed. As for the vegetable pie, the vegetables tasted like the frozen veggies one might find in what was once marketed as a "TV dinner". It was a shame, since the sauce of the white pie was otherwise pretty good.

RIGHT BY THE DOOR. Do people not realize that putting a bar near a door on a freezing cold night benefits no one? Good thing I did not order alcohol or I would have froze to death. Seriously, none of the pies stood out in grand memory. All I can think of is, well, nothing. Nothing positive anyway. The names of the pies are funny, and the staff is friendly, but besides that, the quality of the food for lack of a better word, dare I say it, sucks. Hoping to salvage the meal, I ordered their Chicken Parmesan. It was the Hail Mary pass that unfortunately did not connect. The cutlets are overcooked and dry, and the red sauce cooked with it has minimal tomato flavor. At least the spaghetti is cooked to a nice al dente and mellow garlic butter flavor, but like the sauce cooked in, it is also minimal. Part of the problem I feel is they are trying to go for a vibe that has a New York and modern feel. It does not work. Stay true to one or the other. Or at least look at other business models. I will use another pizzeria in Bushwick that exemplifies it perfectly. It is a hipster pizzeria in a hipster neighborhood. Through balance, it creates an ambiance both welcoming and warm without losing any of its Bushwick character. It does this by not beating you over the head with hipster vibes, just enough to let you know that you are in Bushwick. The band Franz Ferdinand was playing as I was wrapping up. The first thing you notice is the main bar wall, with its exposed centuries-old brick that has survived every bit of chaos this city could throw at it. It's subtly backlit from with a warm, amber glow that highlights every single historic groove and imperfection, making the whole room look like it's breathing. I have to say the centerpiece of the entire narrow room is the bar itself, and let me tell you, it is an absolute stunner of a contrast. Instead of the usual dark, sticky tavern wood, they've dropped in a long, continuous slab of pristine, elegantly smooth white stone. It glows under the soft lighting like a block of polished marble. There are no strobe lights and no obnoxious, skull-rattling bass in this joint. Instead, the room is wrapped in a blanket of incredibly chill music that matches the pulse of the room perfectly. It's just loud enough to drown out the noise in your own head, but quiet enough that you don't have to scream over the smooth white counter to be heard. People aren't here to be seen on TikTok; they're here to disappear for an hour or three. You slide into a chair, order a proper Old Fashioned from a bartender who doesn't rush the pour, and watch the ice melt against the amber-lit brick. It's the ultimate underground exhale--a perfect, narrow slice of peace in a city that never shuts up. Cheers!
