It's a good rule of thumb when deciding on restaurant choices, that a place that serves a bottomless brunch option is generally going to have food that is not the best. Another is, if an establishment has a lot of open reservation slots on Friday night that falls on a three day weekend. This is one of those places. The space is beautiful and large, with lots of room for large parties and the wood fired pizza with broccoli rabe cream, mushrooms and sliced potatoes was great. That's about where it ends. Had the most expensive and worst tiramisu of my life here ($16 dollars for something served in a glass!) and it was honestly downhill from the first $22 mediocre cocktail. I 100% do not object to paying $22 for a cocktail but I'm expecting it to be good. Just live with the possible ambiguity and suspense of possibly not having a reservation on a Friday night. On the bright side, this would be a good place to bring a large party of over 10 people as long as you stick to the pizzas. read more

Shoutout to our server Helder--he was attentive and friendly throughout the dinner. ＊Grilled Octopus $22** The tenderness of the octopus won our heart. The outer was well-grilled with a slight crispy, while the inside was still bouncy and tender. The green tomato vinaigrette was a great sauce to dip into. We also enjoyed the roasted herb potato on the side. ＊Yellow Fin Tuna Tartare $21* A refreshing and appetizing antipasti. The fresh tuna cubes created a harmonious flavor with mashed avocado on the bottom. Finally made it here for brunch but were a tad disappointed. Maybe it's because we opted for a la carte instead of the social brunch menu that seems to be the most popular? The calamari was definitely a surprise, as it tasted like a Chinese dish instead of Italian. It was good, just unexpected. Another - but this time unpleasant - surprise was the crispy prosciutto pizza... The prosciutto was so crispy that it was basically super thin bacon. Just... why??? Came here at like 2pm for brunch on Saturday and it was relatively quiet in here. The spade was nice but the restrooms took forever! We ordered a pizza, drinks, pasta, and salad to share and everything was honestly pretty good, no complaints. My friend originally complained about the pizza not looking the way we would have thought and they immediately rectified it and ended up comping us the pizza. They really care about the customer and I appreciated that. No complaints here! read more

My friends and I came here for the brunch option on the weekend. Note that everyone is supposed to participate in their family style meal that comes with alcohol. They were kind enough to allow an exception for us so half our party did the family style and the other half ordered a la carte, but don't bank on that happening! Everything was honestly soo delicious and the experience was super fun! They give a LOT of food. We definitely had leftovers. I would say the only dish we didn't care for was the Quinoa Bowl. Honestly this place was good but not five star worthy. I feel like the food was good, but the service wasn't the best as we were met with unwelcoming service and our server kept dropping plates and dishes around us. We arrived on a Sunday night circa 8pm for NYC Restaurant Week, no reservation. We were promptly seated by a very friendly host! The space was beautiful and trendy. Everything we ordered was great! We started off with an Aperol Spritz and a Naughty Girl cocktail (oooh-la-la!). We continued with the octopus (fabulous!!!) and tuna tartare appetizers. Our mains consisted of the prosciutto pizza and the absolute piece de resistance - the lamb ragu rigatoni. Wow! We could have each gotten our own Finally, we had the crème brûlée which was fantastic as well as the Nutella/chocolate dessert balls. The service was also on point and very friendly! The food was excellent but I wish they had a few more classic dishes instead of trying to be overly creative. Simpler is always better. The first thing I noticed when we arrived was the loud music. I was hoping it wouldn't be so loud in the dining room, but unfortunately it was and it was very difficult to have conversation with my friend. Really felt welcomed - right when I walked in, I think either the manager or owner was there greeting me and he continued to check in on our table throughout the night (we're really no one special, and it was our first time). The service gets a 10/10 The food was good too - notably the OCTOPUS appetizer was really delicious, had a nice crisp char and the best texture to it. Really fresh tasting and great job to the chefs because octopus is really easy to overcook and make tough as a result. TUNA TARTARE - was solid too, although because there's so much of these dishes in the city it's hard to stand out. I think that while we enjoyed it, it would benefit from a crispy component to pair with. CORN POP (COCKTAIL) - this was really delicious - if you like sour its got that nice lemony sweet and sourness while also having this sweet creaminess from the corn. A highlight of the evening for me as someone who likes all these things. CAVATELLI - silly me was trying to be too healthy and I didn't -love- this but I think because it's the healthier veggie forward option. Was not blown away. We went with a party of 7 for restaurant week, which we celebrate like a holiday. When we arrived they didn't give us the restaurant week menu. They first tried to tell us they weren't honoring that day, but after looking around and seeing our co-dinners were enjoying, we exclaimed "but that's why we are here." After some fuss they told us they could accommodate us. Not sure what that was about but seems they were trying to make more money off the table. Unfortunately their photos of food are clearly AI generated and bear no resemblance to what they service. The food was mediocre. In fact my friends burger was practically raw the pasta was too al dente, cold, and lacking salt. They did not provide salt and pepper. The Cesar was good. Celebrated a friend's birthday here with a party of 6 on a Saturday evening with reservations at 6:30pm. The restaurant was about 60-70% full by then, with reserved tables filling up the back area seating as dinner wore on. There's outdoor covered seating for about 12-14 people directly at the entrance, though it was a bit chilly so no one was seated there when we arrived. Right inside there's a bar to the left with bar seats and seating at high tables to the right. The back of the restaurant with sky lights set into high ceilings has a more formal feel. Food was quite good, decent appetizers, quality pasta and main dishes, and from feedback of the diners at our table everyone enjoyed the food. We ordered the arancini $18, pear salad $17, Di Parma pizza $25, spaghetti carbonara $27, pork osso buco $35, linguine clams $28, gnocchi with lamb sausage $29, broccolini $12, chocolate almond cake $12, and several drinks. They provide focaccia and olive oil for the table. Being Italian food it does tend to get quite heavy considering at carbs, olive oil, cheese, but the food didn't come off as greasy, I think because they used good olive oil. Service was terrific, very attentive and knowledgeable since a few people in our party had food sensitivities. Overall solid spot for an Italian meal. read more

It's been a long time since I've been here, last time was pre-covid, but every time I come here it reminds me why it is one of my favorite brick oven pizza places in the city! Great for a date night or girls night out, the place seems small & intimate in the front but has a huge back room that still has this romantic feel. Started with the Burrata appetizer, the corn loaf is an odd choice for burrata but a solid app. For pizza a friend & I shared a Shroom pizza. The mushrooms & truffle oil go so well together. I love the fluffy dough with a solid crust but to take this pizza to the next level add the house made chili oil. Amazing! I want to buy a jug of it. Can't wait to come back! read more

My friends and I are regulars at Sotto 13 and go there about once a month on Sunday nights. We attend church together in a gay affirming church in the west village and have a lot of experience with restaurants in the area. There are many we went to once but decided not to go back to. We've gotten to know several spots in the area and Sotto 13 is one of our favorites that we keep coming back to again and again. In general, we really like the food. A few of the recent negative reviews seem off base to me, and do not describe what we consistently experience, and why we keep coming back on Sunday nights. There are several unique advantages to Sotto 13. First of all, it's a great restaurant for a larger group. There have these big circular tables in the back that make for such a pleasant dining experience for a group of 6-8. My friends really like the pizzas. The toppings are high quality, and the crust is always perfect in its crunch consistently. On days when I count my macros and stay away from carbs at night, I like to get the salmon or chicken dish. It's flavorful and tasty. When I cheat and get pasta, I really enjoy their cacio e pepe, or their orechiette pugliese. Several Italian men from my church regularly join me for dinner at Sotto 13.One is from Brescia. The other is from Puglia. They both find the food at Sotto 13 more authentic than most Italian restraunts. It's one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood and definitely in the hidden gem category. Alessio has been a wonderful server to us on many evenings. And we look forward to seeing him on Sunday nights. read more

We were looking for an Italian dinner and this restaurant did not disappoint. Upon entering, we were greeted by friendly staff. We felt welcomed by the open, warm, and appealing decor and ambiance. We didn't realize it was Restaurant Week when we made the reservation. The portions provided were delicious and generous. We both took home leftovers to share with family. The beet salad was tasty, and the Nutella donut holes were pure comfort food. I enjoyed the Parma pizza but would have enjoyed it even more if it had more sauce and more cheese. The fusili with mushrooms did not come with chicken, so we ordered extra grilled chicken for a slight upcharge. It was flavorful and yummy. Really yum food and great service! We had the shroom pizza and that was one of the best pizzas ever. Would definitely recommend it. I also had the pear salad but wasn't quite impressed with it. It didn't have much flavor or any real dressing at such. Literally greens mixed with tiny pieces of pear and sprinkled with feta cheese. read more

We came back here with our daughter who started her first year at NYU. The wait staff was super nice, so I hate saying anything negative, but I just didn't think the food or wine (no organic or biodynamic or natural wines on the entire menu) are that great. To make matters worse, it was SUPER expensive. The biggest disappointment was the Pappardelle al Ragù di Cinghiale e Tartufo Nero (Slow-braised wild boar and black truffle ragù, pecorino cloud), which was bland at best. Two of us got it and at $45.00 each, it just was not worth it AT ALL. I would come back, because the atmosphere and everyone were so nice, but I think I would stick to the pizza. read more

However I did appreciate that they accommodated for my friend with allergies and let us do a la carte this one time. The food wasn't anything to write home about. The salmon was too salty for me. Good but sort of forgettable Italian spot - to be fair though, in a city with so many amazing Italian restaurants it's pretty hard to stand out! We went here for dinner and shared a salad, pizza and pasta - I was wanting to do another appetizer initially but I'm glad we didn't because that was plenty of food! Everything was pretty good but I think the pasta had a slight edge over the pizza - you could definitely tell it was fresh pasta, which I love! I'm glad we were able to sneak in without a reservation on a Friday evening - because of this, we were seated in the front near the bar instead of in the main dining room in the back. It was surprisingly sort of quiet by the bar, but the main dining area seemed pretty lively - I would recommend making a reservation in advance so you can be seated there! The pomodoro was good, found it to lack a bit of salt but it tasted really really fresh. The cacio e Pepe was the star! So perfectly cooked and the sauce had the perfect balance of cheese and pepper. For Antipasti we had The octopus was super yummy, the Mussels with shrimp and octopus and the tomatoe sauce was truly incredible!! .
