I've been talking about having pizza in NY since I arrived and I went inside this place. They have Michelin placards for various years include 2025. It's a small and quaint place with an open kitchen in the back. There is a bar as you walk in and I sat at the bar. The bartender is great and I asked him what the most ordered items were. He directed me to the special pizza page. I saw they have fried pizza but I didn't try it. I got a mixed salad with The Butcher pizza .it was delicious. The dough is chewy but not crispy. We stopped by Don Antonio for lunch. When we arrived, it was quite busy inside and we were told it would be a 30 minute wait but we ended up getting seated faster than that! We tried the 10 years anniversary pizza which came with red sauce, stracciatella, pecorino romano and topped with fresh basil pesto. We also got the Macellaio (the butcher) which came with four different proteins split into quadrants including sausage, ham, salame and prosciutto. The pizzas came out piping hot and quickly, and the flavors were good. It was Neapolitan style, though the crust was a bit too thin for my personal preference. Of note, their pizzas are personal sized (12") - we were looking for a light lunch so sharing a few among a group of 4 worked well. Service was super prompt. I honestly did not expect the pizza to be as good as it was here, like I saw the signs for one of the 25 best pizzas in the world and thought I wouldn't be able to tell. But you definitely could! Just thinking about it, my mouth is watering. My friend is gluten free and swears this is the best gluten free pizza she has had and I can see that with how good the pizza in general was. We ordered a prosciutto pizza as a non-vegetarian option for our friend. We also got a simple margherita pizza while I ordered the Norma Nostra. The Margherita was great, but the Norma Nostra stole the show for me. Note that these are individual sized to an extent. I wish the sliced the pies a bit better, but that's okay. The pizza tasted awesome. Also, there's a spicy olive oil provided at the table. That added all the bounce I needed for the pie. For dessert, we ordered both the options: Tiramisu & the Angioletti with Nutella. Tiramisu was good as expected. Angioletti was a lot, though maybe a bit too much for all of us. It was okay. The pizza has been described as chewy, I agree, however it goes down very easy, almost like a pringle how easy it is to devour a single slice. My girlfriend and I saved leftovers for later in the night however so you can definitely get away with just ordering one pie for two people. My only qualm with the restaurant is they really do not make a margarita well at all. They listed it on my bill at fourteen dollars for a house tequila and up charged two dollars to make it a margarita. I couldn't taste the tequila in it, and it tasted like they only mixed it with lime juice. I highly recommend for pizza and for those that can only eat gluten free, they can make any pie gluten free. Memorial Day 2025 Fleet weekend Sunday in Times Square and it was pretty quiet in Midtown Manhattan. We wanted good NYC pizza, but also wanted to have a bottle of Super Tuscan with our pizza. We don't usually eat in Times Square as it's touristy and not a known food destination. What we really wanted was a John's, Joe's, Mariella, Mano's, but we were in the neighborhood and Google rated this place pretty high. We ordered the fried pizza plain, this was the best of the 3, crispy with the least flop. We also ordered a "butcher" which had prosciutto and an anchovy neopolitan. Both were very soggy and wet, the antithesis of a crispy NYC slice. Neither could be picked up by hand and necessitated knife and fork eatin'. The Super Tuscan was the saving grace, rich, full-bodied, pairing well with the soggy slices. Recommend that you get takeout from almost any NYC slice-style pizzeria and any chianti, barolo, amarone, at your local wine store for a true NYC pizza experience. We ate at the bar counter and Juan was definitely the busiest man on Broadway, he was a non-stop cocktail making machine. Go to John's or Joe's for pizza, come here for a few drinks pre or post show, don't mind the tourists. About $175 for 3, 12" pizzas and a bottle of wine. read more

I was seeing a show nearby and read that Top 50 Pizza called Don Antonio the 7th best pizzeria in the United States and 30th best pizzeria in the world. That's a lot to live up to! I sat at the bar and received pretty good service from the bartender. I started with the fritto misto appetizer (one frittatina (spaghetti cake), one arancino (rice ball), one potato croquette, and one fraticello (mini calzone)) came on the plate. I found everything on the plate to have very similar flavor and texture. It was greasy and kind of flavorless. It was difficult to narrow down a pizza here but I went with the Montanara Genovese (lightly fried pizza dough topped with beef and pork white ragu onion-based sauce, pecorino romano, finished in wood-fired oven). The dough really was lightly fried and not at all greasy. I loved the tender meats and white ragu on the pizza. I eat a lot of pizza and enjoyed this meal but I'm not sure it would be my 7th best in New York much less the 7th best in the country. I do think this is a worthwhile stop if you're looking for a different kind of pizza experience and/or somewhere kind of quiet and less touristy to eat in Hell's Kitchen. read more
