Went to have a pizza. The piazza was not anything special. It was a little spicy but this was not indicated on the menu. The bill indicated that an 18% service charge is included. I assume it was a tip. When I went to pay on the tablet provided by the restaurant I was asked if I want to add a tip. Delicious! Today, my partner and I spontaneously decided to try this pizza spot inside Rockefeller center, and it did not disappoint! The restaurant's decor gives such a cozy home-y vibe that we absolutely adored. My partner said he felt like he was in Stranger Things, I felt like I was in my grandma's home lol! We ordered the pepper trio pizza (personal 8"), Ace's meatballs, and vodka meatball pizza (personal 8"). At first glance, I thought the size of the pizzas were small, but after eating, I realized it was honestly the perfect portion for me because I felt super full afterwards! Overall, the pizzas were absolutely delicious!!! The crust was buttery & crunchy on the outside but soft inside, the pepper trio was on the sweet side (not spicy at all), and the vodka meatball pizza was more on the savory side so it felt like we got the best of both worlds. The meatballs were good, but too firm for our liking. Been to the Brooklyn location before and loved the pizza. I saw this Rockefeller location and there were a few people waiting so I decided to get a slice. No seats but standing counter , I ordered anyway. They do personal pan here, so not really a slice, very filling. My pizza was ready in about 10 minutes, I was kinda in a time crunch but I had enough time to eat. Walking away from the register all I could think of was how much I would have preferred to sit. Great music was playing so I could at least enjoy that along with the pizza( which I knew would not disappoint). I set my self up by the front window and as I look up and across I see a whole dinning room ( WHAT!!!) . I could hear myself laughing at me lol.. So the shop is actually 2 sections, each half across the hallway (mere footsteps apart) . Had I not been lightheaded from hunger I might have noticed, nevertheless the next time I go I'll be sure to head to the other side. They have table service, and I think I saw a bar . I noticed workers taking pizza from the side I was on over to the other . It took around 15 minutes or so to get our pizzas. This pizza was great, edges were crispy, cheese was amazing and their sauce was sweet and garlicky. My husband and I each ordered a personal White Sesame pizza, which was plenty for us since we were on our own personal pizza tour. While it can get crowded the line goes fast and before you know it you are enjoying one of the best mid town pizza places in this area. Ace's is Detroit style pizza and is delicious. We dined at Ace's Pizza for lunch on Jun 24 this year. It had two office spaces. One on the left for dine-in and the other on the right for pick-ups - both were small rooms. We went to the dine-in room, sat at the bar and ordered a medium 9" plain cheese pizza. There were two waitresses on duty, and the one at the bar was multi-tasking taking orders, serving them and ringing checks. Her waiting on us was interrupted repeatedly. My impression of Ace's was gradually souring when our pizza was served within minutes after placing the order. We were surprised as it didn't appear there was sufficient time for the order to be processed. It was the quickest service I had ever seen, quicker than fast food. From the rectangular pie cut into six slices, we took two each and were done in relatively quick time. Then came the check. 18% service fee was added to the order. That's NYC for you. In addition, tips was requested. I gave 3%, which is equivalent to 76 cents. (In hindsight, I should have gone with 0% tip.) Food was alright, served quickly. Service was OK but can be better. If we weren't pressed for time, we would have tried other places in Under 30 Rock. read more

Ace's Pizza is located underneath the Rockefeller Center (in the dining area) which made me slightly skeptical because it's tourist-galore down there BUT it honestly did not disappoint. I got the Supreme Slice (8/10). Lowkey this slice was FIRE. Ace's is Detroit style which means it serves up square slices with thick, crispy crusts. I thought that the middle of the crust was perfectly chewy/bread-y and was almost soft in texture? This paired well with the crispy/cheesy outer edge pieces. The Supreme Slice is a tomato sauce based pizza and is topped with sausage, onions, and green bell peppers. I loved it. I got the "Personal" size and found it to be quite pricy at ~$13 (but that's NYC for ya!) I have heard that this place can be kind of inconsistent. One time my friend went and her slice was rock hard but this time it was very chewy and soft. I also wish that this location of Ace's had more seating, Overall, wouldn't go out of my way to come here but it's def a solid spot if you're craving some pizza in Midtown! read more

I've been to Ace's Pizza twice, the first time to grab a quick lunch during a work trip, and the second time with my wife while in town visiting friends. I loved the food both times. The pepperoni pizza is especially outstanding. The pepperoni is appropriately crispy, and plentiful without being overwhelming. The spinach and artichoke pizza was also very good. The balance of ingredients on both pizzas was just right, and the personal pizza is a perfectly sized portion for a lunch for one. Service was prompt. On my second visit, my wife and I dined in, which I highly recommend, especially if you're a child of the 80s. The dining room is done up with wood paneling, string lights, and an old-timey CRT television like we had when I was a kid. (When we were there, an episode of Alf was playing.) The ambiance only adds to the experience, and our server was attentive and on top of things without making us feel rushed. (One quirk is that, even when dining in, you have to come to the bar to pay -- totally fine, just a little confusing.) Another plus is the very central, convenient location in the basement level of 30 Rock. Always nice to have a high quality, casual option in midtown. Sure, it's Detroit style pizza, and although no trip to New York is complete without a NY slice, no future trip to NY for me is going to be complete without popping into Ace's. read more
