We were in New York near the Times Square strolling and found this place, lucky for us it wasn't as packed so we got a table and wow, what an experience. Amazing food, lovely ambience, we had a great time here. Pizzas - margherita was great, viddana which is the roasted red pepper, artichoke with mushrooms was really really well done. Pasta - loved the casarecce which was pasta with eggplant in that lovely Sicilian almond basil pesto was delicious! Dessert - cannoli - I'm not a fan of cannolis but this one really hit the spot with that lightly sweetened ricotta cheese with the caramelized orange peel (this did it for me!) and crushed pistachio nuts. I will never forget the taste of that orange peel in this cannoli. Wonderful place! Good food! Highly recommend.

This is a pretty solid spot for some Italian food in a neighborhood that is pretty chaotic/not known for good restaurants. The restaurant is a decent size and lit with mood lighting. I sat at the bar promptly at 5pm, which is when happy hour ends (they only do happy hour 3pm-5pm) but the bartender was nice enough to accommodate one glass of wine at the happy hour price. I had the cacio e pepe which was good and not too rich, as sometimes it can be in other restaurants. Service was fast, efficient and kind. I didn't have much time so I was glad that the whole meal was efficient. Prices are pretty standard and the happy hour drinks are a good deal. They have a large brick oven for pizza making and I'd be down to come back and try a pizza. Nice little hidden gem on 9th Ave

It was my first night in New York City. We got this recommendation from some locals. It was super close to our hotel so why not try it? I made a reservation once we arrive. I saw they had a bar and we opted to sit at the bar. The chairs were small and not super comfortable but I still preferred the bar. We ordered a bottle of wine. They brought us some bread. The olive oil that was with the bread was so flavorful. I did ask what it was, but I've already forgotten. We had a Caprese salad. Super delicious. For entrées, I had a lasagna All the food was super good. The service was fabulous. The atmosphere was lovely casual yet perfect date night. We liked it enough that on our last day we came for pizza at lunchtime.

Hit the spot!! Great cozy place, perfect for date night. Was able to make a reservation for Valentine's Day even on 2/13. The pizza came out quick and was soo delicious. Lovely atmosphere and service!

I had another great experience here last night! Tavola continues to be a go-to of mine in this area. It can get busy, so I definitely recommend making a reservation. Last night I had the burrata appetizer and it was amazing! So simple and fresh. I also had the cacio e Pepe, which is a fav of mine!

Walked here in between a few shows we were attending. It is very hard for my wife who is Italian but has to eat gluten free to be at an Italian restaurant and not be able to order what she would like to eat. She got the gluten free pizza, not her favorite and I got the classic spaghetti and meatballs and loved it! This restaurant is alla carte so I ate the whole dish!

We wanted to grab a quick dinner near our hotel and we were very pleased with this cute restaurant. Service was excellent. Captured pics of our appetizer which were the meatballs. Those were outstanding!! Both entrees were good not great. Pork tenderloin with mozzarella stuffed and prosciutto wrapped and cacio peppe entree both were good but would pick another dish next trip.

Little eatery near our hotel in Hell's Kitchen area. Made reservations for 4 plus a toddler on a Wed night and they were able to accommodate us last minute. Service I must say was outstanding, our server was very attentive and explained all the specials for us. She recommended items to eat and also suggested some wine. My husband and I split the veal Ragu which was to die for a long with a pizza which is neopoltan style, thin crust. Extensive Italian menu with reasonable prices for NY.

    Gnocchi, unbelievably soft!
    Carin R.

We had ordered quite a few dishes and were truly happy with everything. The burrata was creamy and silky, probably the best I have ever had. The arancine should be listed as extra large, they are huge! The spaghetti with chicken meatballs were a hit with my friend's son and the gnocchi melted in your mouth, they were so soft. There were two downsides. We were a party of three but they seated us at a two top right on top of the wait station with plenty of open tables. Also, our server might have been on the new side. She never told us about the specials, forgot the vegetable side dish we ordered, nor asked if we wanted to order desserts just offered the check. Franco, the manager was charming and very enthusiastic to share the history of the restaurant and how the interior is all original. It's so nice to see that it was preserved, truly old school New York vibe. Highly recommend making reservations to ensure getting a table, one can do it right on the Yelp app.

Went for dinner right after we arrived in town based on proximity to hotel and reviews. Boy are happy we did! It was so delicious. We split the focaccia, right out of the oven. Not as thick as I like it but still flavorful. Also split arancini. Not readily available at home and so delicious. Then we chose gnocchi each with a different sauce. It was billed as cloud like and that was right on the money. Probably the best gnocchi I've ever had and I get it often. I wish I'd had room for dessert as there was a chocolate espresso mousse cake calling out to me but alas no room after such a heavy meal.

    HOMEMADE SEASONAL CHEESECAKE
    Evy F.

We had the Caesar salad, Cacio e Pepe, and cheesecake! As we waited we were given the most delicious bread on the house! The salad was delicious. The pasta (Cacio e Pepe) was too salty for my taste. The cheese cake was homemade with a crumb crust--definitely different and garnished with strawberries and sauce. The ambiance was deep, dark and romantic. The bar area was intimate and perfect if you wanted to eat alone. The service was decent and we didn't wait long, even on a busy day.

The mint Moroccan tea gave the drink a cool, refreshing taste on every sip. I also tried the Silver Screen, the closest drink I could find to an old fashioned. It was interesting, there was definitely a hint of a buttery taste. Overall a really balanced bourbon drink. I walked in and found room at the standing tables. After my friend left for another function, I stuck around a little bit longer for a little solo dinner. I had a glass of Prosecco off the happy hour menu followed by a dirty martini, and I did request to look at their full dinner menu because there was a couple items that I wanted to try. I wanted to try the duck Ragu and halloumi cheese, both of which were absolutely fantastic. The halloumi cheese was perfectly grilled and flavorful, and the duck Ragu was very comforting. I highly recommend both dishes. It's a small area with the tables pretty close together. We were given a table in the far corner, which was perfect for comfort and looking out at the restaurant. Two of us each ordered a glass of house wine, which were "ok." We opted for the Boqueria Experience, which is $65 per person and includes a variety of chef-selected tapas, a paella and an order of the restaurant's special JAMÓN IBÉRICO DE BELLOTA, which is described on the charcuterie menu as aged 48 months, with deep marbling, rich and nutty flavor. We enjoyed most of the tapas, including the potatoes, the beef/lamb balls, the salad and bruschetta. The croquettes were "ok" with the heavy aeoli masking some of the flavor. The seafood paella was good and was different from ones I've had in the past, with the caramelized layer on the bottom. Yum. Honestly, none of us was a big fan of the Jamon Iberico de Bellota. I'm sure it's special and luxurious, but we found it not to have much flavor. Frankly, it was a big disappointment for us. The service was beyond excellent. We were very pleased with the timing of the presentation of the meal, the superb water service and the general enthusiasm and pleasantness of the Staff. We will come back and try different items on the ala carte menu. I thought there would be more seafood and meat tapas offerings in the "Experience". Instead, it was a lot of cheese, vegetables, dates and bread. Although $65 per person likely was a good value for what we got, I think the tapas items were heavy on the lower cost tapas and that it wasn't a true top-of-the-line "Experience". A seafood dish or even a chicken dish (chicken wings) instead of one of the two croquette offerings would have helped.

I found the hodgepodge of old-timey decor to be a bit kitsch, but to each their own. I came with a group on a weeknight with no reservation. We were seated immediately on a high wood table. Although the bar wasn't busy (there were plenty of empty spaces, small groups scattered throughout the area), the service was quite slow. The server was inattentive and took a while to take our orders. We had to ask her for water three times, searching for her across the room in an attempt to catch her attention. She was a bit absent during the two-ish hours we were there. On the bright side, the drinks were fairly good. I ordered this strawberry vodka cocktail topped with whole mint. I'm wary of vodka for its harsh, unpleasant taste, but I found this drink to actually be very pleasant, tasing like a fruit smoothie you'd get from a local juicer. There was also a burgundy drink served on a wine glass that tasted like the holidays. I liked that one quite a bit. Overall, Oscar Wilde was an okay experience. It's certainly a bar for a certain type of crowd, and the service was lacking, but maybe we went on a bad night. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll be served better than we were.
