Our first waiter was really wonderful, he was professional, attentive and honestly he should be at a Michelin restaurant. But his shift was over halfway through our meal. The 2nd waiter was fine, but she was not as attentive and I will say the restaurant was busy.. when we asked for the check we waited for at least 30 min until my friend had to go inside to find her. She was busy chatting with another table. Aside from that I recommend the food and hopefully you'll get a server who doesn't get as side tracked! Still giving 5 stars. read more

Met a friend for dinner here after work since we both work in the area. When we arrived at the 6:30 pm, the place was very busy. When i first walked in, there's a small bar right in front and there was a large party seated at a table in the far left and the hostess table was to the far right. The hostess escorted us back past the bar to a table on the main level dining area. There is also an upstairs which I never got to see. The ceilings felt very low in the dining area and there was minimal natural light since the only windows were those from the front. If we had been seated further back in the dining room, I would not have liked it. There were several large parties. There also these very romantic little booths built in the wall that could accommodate parties of 4. It was very loud inside - besides the low ceilings contributing to poor acoustics, there was also club/EDM music playing loudly. The vibes were strange since the crowd felt very corporate and the decor was leaning towards upscale, so the music selection felt really off. Service was pretty good throughout the meal - they refilled our water often and our food came out quickly. We started with the rice balls - you get 4 to an order; great flavor, small size. For our entrees, I got the pappardelle bolognese, and my friend tried the bucatini with pesto sauce (special sauce for the night). Our pastas were enjoyable and a decent portion. We had to ask if they offered complimentary bread since we wanted some to dip in the sauce. If we hadn't asked, I guess they would have never brought any. I also tried the Sicilian autumn spritz cocktail - tasty drink but $24 is steep. I wasn't a fan of their bathroom setup either. There might be a lack of Italian restaurants in this section of Midtown. Bucatini does fill the gap but I think it's more catered for corporate/work lunch or clients lunch than it is for a casual, family and friends sit down. Food was decent. Nothing was bad. Pizza was good but not amazing. But for the prices ($24 ish for the pizza as a baseline guide), you can find better elsewhere if you go 5-10 blocks in any direction. Obviously rent here is high and might justify the pricing. The service was underwhelming. We sat at the back of the restaurant with a nice view of the kitchen (semi-open because it's behind a big pane of glass). But the wait staff going in and out of the kitchen entrance and exit was quite annoying - lots of forcing the door open the wrong way (like a loud car collision), some swearing because of dropped dishes, etc. Sure, stuff happens but I think keeping it behind closed doors would be better here. We also had some of our apps mistakenly delivered to another table. Technically, it gets sent to the kitchen and not necessarily should be delivered back out to us because it touched the other table. But I saw the wait staff take it through the kitchen, walk it through the kitchen (as I saw they the glass open kitchen) and bring it back out as if new. So if you do come here, I wouldn't recommend sitting by the kitchen. read more

For entree I had the bucatini pasta with shrimp and vodka sauce. It was a good size portion of food. For desert I highly recommend the fruit tart sooo good. The drinks were good as well. The service was great the waitress was very attentive. The only issue I had was the host that checked us in she was a bit rude and she misplaced my friends coat and umbrella, and refused to give her a ticket for her coat check. Then came up to us multiple times while we were already dining and asked us if he had checked in. If we didn't check in how would we have gotten a table? Meanwhile they did not bother other guest. After doing some research on Yelp for a spot for 5 people that was good for a holiday meal (Christmas Eve), but not ridiculously expensive, I found this place and it ended up being a great choice! On my visit we shared the following items: -3 pizzas: Margherita/Truffle Funghi/La Bianca -Pappardelle alla Bolognese -Roasted Cauliflower Everything was well prepared and good. The pizzas were a nice surprise - they all had a nice crust and flavorful toppings...I enjoyed them all, but the Truffle Funghi was probably the best since the mushrooms were delicious and had the nice essence of truffle without overwhelming the palate. The pasta was fresh and delicious. While cauliflower doesn't sound too exciting, it was roasted to perfection and was also really good. What an amazing experience! While in the area I checked out Yelp to find a spot. You steered me right! The place is very nice, but the prices aren't bad for the area. We also weren't dressed up, but you definitely can. It has a nice looking bar. We sat in a booth that was very comfortable. The service was amazing. Our server, Omar was so thoughtful from beginning to end. He helped give us suggestions. They also worked with us because we had a specific request- they went above and beyond to help. We order the focaccia bread and the bucatini with vodka sauce and chicken. It was delicious!!! The chicken was seasoned well. The pasta and the sauce was so yummy!!! I mentioned to Omar that we had a couple of birthdays with us and made us all feel very special and sang with desserts and candles. It was just such a great experience with delicious food, very nice and chic ambiance, and amazing service. I believe Brandon was the name of the person that was helping Omar. Came here for a quick group lunch on a weekday, and was surprised with how busy the space was! The overall architecture is beautiful, and certainly takes you away from the typical bustle of midtown. In terms of food, I tried the focaccia, arancini, and bucatini with vodka sauce. The arancini was probably my favorite, as the smokiness of the pancetta inside was delicious. The bucatini was alright, but wish there was a little more acidity, or sides to have made the pasta for delicious (like mushrooms or onions). We sat in the back booths, but noise level within the restaurant was too loud as it was very hard to hear each other at our own table. A nice space to take someone to, but would recommend sitting towards the entrance given the higher ceilings (and would anticipate less noise). read more

Have been to Bucatini a few times since they opened and I've enjoyed it every single time. We've sat by the bar and had also had dinner in a private room. The place is beautiful and the servers are very attentive. I'm a HUGE fan of bucatini and have been many times. It's a must have when in Manhattan. The service is impeccable and hostess always gets us a great table (with a view of the kitchen!) which I appreciate. My favorites are the veal parm and black fettuccine with shrimp. Also love the salumi and cheese selections...such succulent grapes, delicious grilled garlic bread and toasted macadamia nuts. Every detail ensures you will thoroughly enjoy your meal. The pasta is perfectly cooked and soooo flavorful. I haven't strayed far from those options because they are just honestly too good. Dessert choices rarely pique my interest, but I rarely have enough room anyway. Highly recommend. I have to admit, this is a very beautiful restaurant, and the food is absolutely delicious. The servers are kind and helpful. The only issue I had, which caused me to take away a star, was with the front of the house. They offered to take my coat, but I had to repeatedly ask for a ticket. When I asked the young woman who took it, she had forgotten. Thankfully, another woman -- who may have been a manager -- was very kind and brought me to the back to look for my coat. When I found it, I realized my umbrella was not next to it. Instead, my umbrella had been tucked away in the front shelving area, which was upsetting because it is a very nice umbrella and should have been given a ticket as well. My main concern is this: if you are going to offer to take someone's belongings, please ensure they are handled carefully and stored securely -- not just placed anywhere. Once again, I am grateful for the woman in the front who helped me locate both my coat and umbrella. However, it's important to respect people's belongings. Not everyone walks into a restaurant the same way -- sometimes dining out is a reprieve from a heavy day. A little more mindfulness goes a long way. read more

I came here for brunch and it was amazing. We purchased a pulsd deal and I am in awe of how wonderful this restaurant is. First let's start with the food; we ordered an appetizer burrata with peaches then my main dish was the focaccia breakfast sandwich which was good; the focaccia was delicious and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The bacon was a bit overcooked for me but it was still delicious. Then for a dessert we ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes.These pancakes were delicious light airy and so delicious. The lemon ricotta was so good and I still think about them. The pancakes were not overly sweet which was great. The mimosas were also good and so was the red sangria. The service was amazing; the staff is very friendly and helpful. They were very pleasant and welcoming. Now to the space this space is beautiful and I would definitely recommend it for an event. It reminds me of being in Greece with the high ceiling and color scheme. I will definitely be back. This has been one of my favorite places of the year. read more

This is a new restaurant with great service and beautiful ambience. I walked in and felt like I had done a time-warp and ended up in a European country. My friend and I went with a Pulsd deal. I ordered the ricotta peach, spaghetti, and pancakes for dessert. I decided to go with the sangria, since it included unlimited drinks for 90 minutes. The spaghetti was loaded with meat and came in a generous portion. The red sangria did not disappoint--I personally preferred it over the white. After we finished our first dish, the table was cleared right away and new dishes arrived perfectly timed for the next course. I'll definitely return for happy hour from 5 to 7. Hopefully the weather will be nice so I can grab patio seating. I read that they would have a DJ for brunch, but there wasn't one when I visited. Nonetheless , the music they played was decent--not too loud--which gave me a chance to catch up with my friend. If you're a foodie like me, you might be surprised that the brunch menu had neither appetizers nor dessert options. Right as you step in, the ambiance is on point with a fancy looking spacious dining area with tables in the center and more booth-like nooks off to the sides. We all loved our choices. I started off with a great mezcal cocktail. We shared the burrata and eggplant rollatini which were the perfect sharing sizes (the rollatini comes with three pieces). We each tried a different pasta dish including a special pesto which was delicious and obviously handmade. All of the pastas were also handmade and had a great bite. The bowls were deceiving as they seemed small but the pasta felt endless and we all had leftovers. I had the fettuccini with shrimp which was great overall flavor-wise although I wish the shrimp had been a little more tender. There is also a menu option to get bucatini with any classic Italian sauce so there is a lot of customization for those who are more or less adventurous. The food was absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere and service were both great. Unfortunately, the temperature inside really took away from the experience. It was freezing inside, with no heat. I had to keep my jacket on. Every time the door opened, cold air rushed right in. It was about 20° outside, and without a storm door or proper insulation, the cold just kept coming in nonstop. It's a real shame because this place has so much going for it, but I don't think I'll be coming back during the winter unless this issue is fixed. Went to Bucatini for dinner on Super Bowl Sunday and it was honestly so good. The food was amazing -- everything we ordered I would get again. You can tell they care about what they're putting out. But the service was even better. Everyone was super welcoming and made the night feel easy and relaxed. Manager Diego was all class and genuinely cared about our dining experience.
