I was craving pasta for lunch today, and after searching online for a restaurant in the area, Pastagasm showed up as one of the results. I ordered via DoorDash, and requested a pick-up time about a 1/2 hr. after placing the order. I ordered the Midnight Desire + chicken (for protein). The food was ready when I arrived, and the guy who was at the counter was friendly when handing it to me. I'm enjoying my lunch as I'm typing this. IT'S DELICIOUS! Stopped by here for a quick bite for late lunch/early dinner. The space is small but there's a few seats inside. The worker was kind and greeted us upon entering. Was also thoughtful in handing us our orders correctly which was nice. For the food itself I heard good things and was hoping to love it more-- but I think I was slightly disappointed. The flavors aren't so bad overall and if you have a pasta itch it'll scratch. But I've tried other places better at a similar or even cheaper price point with protein added in. I got the "some like it hot" while my friend got "midnight desire" with burrata added in. I paid about 22 for each dish. Now for my thoughts - flavor for "some like it hot" was not bad, sauce was a slight bit watery for my liking. The spice was nice and I liked that part the most. Pasta was "OK". The ravioli was stuck together for some, filling was adequate but, I would've liked a little more. I don't want to sound harsh, but it was all around just an ok spot. Maybe it was just that day. Burrata added is nice, I took mine to go do sadly it was melted on top (recommend to pack the burrata separately for to go orders) - "midnight desire" is basically vodka and the flavor for this one was kind of odd for me. Not the normal vodka I am used to. I personally wouldn't really get it again. It wasn't a bad sauce, just not like vodka I know. Had a slight "bitter(?)" aftertaste from some seasoning I guess. I'm not a pasta connoisseur but I AM Italian and I've tasted a wide ranger of pastas lol-- I think yummy cheese pasta in Hell's Kitchen offers a similar concept, portion but is more filling, diverse options for adding and overall, slightly cheaper. I stopped in for some pasta to go "SOME LIKE IT HOT" with Nduja and ricotta ravioli with tomato sauce and burrata Fyi there is barely any seating inside so I would plan to take it to go. Theres some communal chairs outside nearby of the weather permits. I really enjoyed the ravioli and would go back for other flavors but it is pricey: $20 for a bowl I could finish all in one go. I've ordered takeout and delivery from Pastagasm multiple times and they never disappoint. The food is delicious. Hand made noodles and homemade sauces every single day, fresh ingredients and lots of delectable options. The service is always good the cashier is usually a sweet Italian man and they sell Italian sodas and candies in the front as well. I love the way the shop looks it's completely PINK and plush. Pastagasm is a cute, small, cozy spot for some cool pastas. They have some seating so that you can eat there. It's not enough for a large group though. They have a nice variety of pastas and sauces with some combinations available as well. My daughter got the plain spaghetti with marinara, she enjoyed it. I got the pistachio pesto ravioli... The pesto had a very interesting flavor, I really liked it. My only complaint was that the raviolis was a small portion compared to the other spaghetti and linguine dishes. Really cute place and great price for the pasta that you get. With all the workspaces in the area, I can definitely see people coming by to grab some lunch. It's all housemade pasta, and you can TELL. I had the cacio e pepe which was al dente and had that cacio e pepe flavor that you love. And we also tried the some like it hot ravioli which came so generously stacked with ravioli. I feel like usually at italian places they give you like 5-6 pieces of ravioli, but my sister and I shared and we each got to have at least 5-6 pieces each. It's alright pasta. They have perfectly al dente noodles (everyone complaining about the al dente noodles in the reviews here probably haven't had pasta in Italy) but the pecorino cheese was not as fragrant as it is in Italy. It's also quite expensive for a bowl of pasta, but you can tell they really care about their pasta! There's plenty of pasta places in New York though, so it's hard to be competitive, but definitely love the interior and branding. They have a little bit of seating, but I wouldn't count on it! Cute unassuming place that packs a serious flavorful punch! My husband came home one day and was like "there's this place with a crazy name but the menu looks SO good, we have to try!" AND TRY WE DID. (was there a pastagasm? err not quite. but I was really warm and full and content afterwards... so maybe like a pasta warm hug? whatever) Store is tiny- there maybe around 8 counter seats. Check out the cheeky decor. My husband and I got the Carbonaughty (carbonara pasta) and smac n' cheese (Mac and cheese that uses pink pasta and 4 types of cheeses!) to go- $16 per pasta, they were packed with care into these paper bowls. Even after a 15+ min walk back, the pasta was perfectly al dente and simply delicious! The blend of cheeses in the smac n' cheese (gorgonzola, parmesan, cheddar) was so rich and comforting. I had the carbonara first and did not like it - the guanciale was too bitter and the pasta was a bit too al-dente. Other people have pointed that out. I am not Italian, so perhaps I can't really judge the "doneness" of the pasta. Anyways, moving on - about 3 months later, I tried it again. I tried the vodka sauce pasta. This was just great. The guanciale this time was delicious. It was perfect with the vodka sauce. The noodle also was perfectly cooked (in my opinion). The place is nice. The service is good. I hope they stick around. I live in the neighborhood and have walked by this place a number of times, but honestly, based on the name did not think it would be great. I was SO wrong! Was craving a good pasta, so after reading quite a few great reviews, decided to give it a try. I had the carbonara, and it was honestly one of the best I've had outside of Italy. Pasta was cooked to perfection, and it was delicious! The guanciale was so crispy too!! (Do yourself a favor and order extra). The focaccia they give you on the side was good, not great. Trying to find good pasta in NYC is close to impossible. Some are at least ok. This place was by far, the worst I've had. I ordered the carbonara, with was tasteless, even with adding salt and pepper, but it edible enough to eat 1/2. . The bolognese was as completely inedible, primarily bc the past was so overcooked, it was like eating mush. The fact that the pasta itself was so bad made it impossible to judge the sauce. But I did have to add salt and pepper and cheese. (And I almost never add salt to anything ) I really don't know how any of the reviews could be as good as they are.
