Stopped by Vezzo for pizza and overall had a pretty good experience. We ordered the margherita pie, and it was solid not the best I've ever had, but definitely not bad either. The flavors were there: good sauce, fresh cheese, nice balance overall. The only thing for me was the crust. It was a little too thin for my taste. Some people love that ultra thin style, but I usually prefer something with a bit more bite. That said, the pizza still had great flavor, and you can tell they use quality ingredients. The place itself has a nice, comfortable vibe nothing over the top, just a relaxed spot to sit down and enjoy a pie. If you're into thin-crust pizza or just want to try a different style in NYC, Vezzo is worth checking out. Everybody is always talking about how great New York Pizza is and honestly only way to know if that's true to fly all the way out here and see for myself. So in my opinion, pizza was good if I'm being like really honest I'm all about the California pizza personally. I like the crust to be thicker and less sauce, but this is really good too. I made a reservation for this restaurant and we were seated immediately! We ordered Shroomtow, Milanesa, and classic margherita. I'm really impressed with how the sturdy the crust held up to all the toppings. Most pizza slices get soggy and floppy with so many toppings. The Shroomtow was almost too mushroom heavy for me. I would have loved to have goat cheese or something to cut through all the mushroom. MIlanesa was basically chicken Parmesan on pizza and that was interesting. The margherita was a little disappointing. Nothing really stood out with that one. It was odd to have chopped tomatoes on it. read more

Vezzo was walking distance from my office. So we decided to go there for lunch. I had both voices in my head giving me competing messages. One voice said eat healthy, the other said get some pizza. So I did both. The pizza is thin which made it somewhat crispy and sturdy. The dough and cheese tasted great. As for the salad, this thing was a beast. It was loaded with quinoa, avocado, grilled chicken, and other goodies. It all tasted great. The vegetables were all crisp and fresh, the chicken had a light char to it, and the avocados were ripe. I could not finish half of the salad. Even if I did not eat the pizza, the salad was still huge. I really liked the food. The pizza came out almost instantaneously while the seller took a little while to make. That's OK. The staff came out to make sure that drinks were topped off regularly. They also checked on us to ensure we were enjoying the food once it was delivered. There's plenty of seating, you have the option of choosing booths or tables. Initially, the restaurant was not very crowded. It became more steady later I got. I would definitely come here again. read more

I knew if I went to New York and didn't try New York pizza, I would regret it so when I was looking for a last minute spot, I discovered Vezzo and to be honest, I think I chose the wrong spot to experience NY pizza. It's my first time in NY so I wasnt sure where to go but walking into this restaurant I felt I was in a college bar which is FINE but not my exact vibe. The staff were very friendly though! They answered all my questions and regularly checked on our table. I ended up getting the Parma with chicken and it was delicious however, I'm a ranch lover and they told me they had no ranch in the entire restaurant. Is that a NY thing? Vezzo is a solid casual pizza spot in the city. I went on a Thursday afternoon for lunch with a couple friends and was seated quickly. It's a no-frills type of restaurant. The pizza is exactly as described, thin crust, and the topping choices were abundant. The lunch special was also a great deal. I got a personal pizza with house salad all for ~$20 or less. Honestly there were two main things that could have gone wrong better. 1) we were with a vegan person so we specifically asked for no cheese (that was the only modification, we did add truffle oil) and after 20 minutes the pizza came out with cheese. I tried the slice since I was so hungry but it was pretty mid. The truffle oil was pretty good but otherwise there was no flavor. The veggies were just added and I felt there was a missed opportunity to marinate the veggies to make it more flavorful. The pizza was okay. 2) after the second pizza came out with the no cheese and we could immediately tell they were lacking the truffle oil. It was added but you could tell it was significantly less. Could be just a simple mistake but when I tasted the salad and pizza I knew this spot just wasn't for me. Margherita thin crust pizza - check the photos, super watery, can't do this on such thin crust - becomes inedible when all toppings slide off immediately even after letting it cool. $29 was such a waste. Beat and goat cheese salad - rock hard goat cheese was semi stale. Arugula was room temp (I prefer cold greens for a salad) and the beets had no seasoning. Dressing was okay. This place was a short walk from our hotel and we wanted salad and pizza. I previously made reservations on their app, so we got a booth right away. Unfortunately, after water and menus, we waited a little too long for service. Our server kissing on her boyfriend at the bar didn't help. I felt we were ignored much too long. We ordered a large Big Pineapple ($37). I had the Spinach Salad and the grandaughters split the Caesar. The spinach salad was fantastic. I would love that again. The pizza, for me, was just okay. I was at a company event last night, which severed various pizzas from Vezzo. With all the varieties, I only focused on the Mushroom (Which I have now learned is called the "Shroomtown") had more mushroom than crust. 3 types of exotic mushrooms, very earthy taste. I walked past Vezzo on the way to an appointment. I was early so I thought why not. I can't eat Pizza because of a tomato allergy so I ordered the Bacon Jam Crostini. It was delicious. The dish is a Warm goat cheese topped with sweet and savory bacon jam, pine nuts and fresh basil on toasted ciabatta with garlic oil. I was hesitant about the bacon jam but I love bacon so I thought I couldn't go wrong. It was delicious and so savory. The host and hostess were warm and friendly and helpful with menu and food selection. The restaurant was a mixture of old world ambiance and new school selections. We ate dinner here last night because we wanted the New York pizza experience and they also have a great happy hour! The pizza was great and the cocktails were sooo yummy that we came back before our flight to have another couple of rounds. Bartender was the same as the night before and he was awesome! Was in Manhattan for work and my co-worker has been wanting to take me to this spot since they live on the east coast. Not a bad spot! We ordered caesar salad and each a pizza. I order the regular pepporonni and added bell peppers on to it. I was a bit surprised when the peppers were only half way cooked and it tasted kinda weird, but the rest of the pizza was super good and crispy, no flop! We ordered burrata with ciabata. The burrata was excellent, the ciabata looked nothing like the menu photo. My daughter ordered a basic cheese pizza which she scored 5/10. Crust was great, cheese and sauce had no stand out flavour. My wife ordered a tasty chicken parmigiana which was a solid serving of food. 7.5/10 After waiting 10 minutes through their meal, my meat lovers pizza didn't arrive, and after asking, it was clear the kitchen had missed it it. The wait staff were good, my meal and and a beer were complimentary. Pizza arrived well after everyone else had finished. The pizza when it arrived was overcooked and was so salty you couldn't taste anything except the salt. Pizza base was crusty. Left half the pizza on the plate and left. Ate some Pringle's with more flavour when I got back to the hotel room. 3/10 Beer was ice cold 10/10. Wait staff 8/10 read more

I recently visited this pizza place during the Summer Fancy Foodshow and had heard some good things about it. It was down the street from my hotel so I decided to go there for lunch. It was a hot and humid day and the restaurant inside wasn't very cool. The restaurant was also dimly lit and seemed darker the further you went into the restaurant. I sat at the bar close to the window and so it was brighter. I ordered the Caprese salad and a large cheese pizza. The Caprese had good flavor especially the tomatoes but the presentation was like a large bowl of tomatoes and cherry sized mozzarella balls. It was also way too much for 1 person. The cheese pizza look great, had good sauce to cheese ratio and the crust was super thin and crispy. The bite was good, Unfortunately the taste just wasn't the there. It had little taste on its own and was missing any flavor from the sauce, cheese or crust. I probably would have had a better experience if I had added salt, Oregano and even crushed red peppers but I don't do that with any of the pizzas I eat. Service was good. I have no good reason why it took me so long to finally come here and try the Shroomtown pizza, so all I will say is thank god for holiday serendipity and not making a resy anywhere else on a busy Saturday night. The Shroomtown pizza was everything this fungus lover could ask for. The Rotella app was the prosciutto sushi I never knew I needed in life (and MUST have on a consistent basis henceforth). And the Milanesa, while overshadowed by the previous two, held its own for fresh, veggie goodness. Combine all that with warm brick walls and candlelight, and you've got a winner for dinner. Thin crust will always be greater than thick crust, and Vezzo might just be the best of its kind in NYC. read more
