    Tagliatelle

This is a very cool concept. You eat your meal in the middle of the Italian market. It's a bit overpriced but all the pasta is made in front of you. The food is really good I had the Tagliatelle which was amazing. My wife had the Tonnarelli which also enjoyed. The kids were able to get spaghetti with red sauce. Be aware there is a bit of language barrier when ordering so know what you want to make your life easier. I also had a cold Peroni which hit the spot.

I love that you can watch them make fresh pasta as you dine. My friend and I shared the bruschetta which was not as enjoyable as I thought it would be - the bread was cold and hard, truffles not very flavorful. The pasta was delicious - I had the veal and lamb filling. I also ordered a Negroni that I couldn't finished - not well done at all.

Cute restaurant inside Eataly! We were sat immediately with their bar seating. Beautiful decor at the center of Eataly with marble countertops, classy furnishing, and inside view of how they make the fresh pasta. Our server gave us his favorite recommendations and checked if we had any dietary restrictions. We were dining for dinner around 6 pm. The ambiance was great to chat with my colleagues. I ordered the Agnolotti Del Pin which were about 10 gnocchis filled with beef, sausage, and veal sugo. The dish was delicious with its meat filling and hearty sauce. My colleague liked my dish as well. I would definitely order this again.

I was stuck between a 4 and 3 but idk. Wine was good, service was great. The cesar and truffle bruschetta were on point and delicious, but I expected so much more of the pasta! The pasta itself felt perfect, but the sauces didn't do it for me. Tagliatelle was good but something still felt off, and the amatriciana sauce was just so thick/chunky. Would come back for apps and wine if I'm shopping at eataly, but otherwise I wouldn't come back. Oh and the tiramisu was great! They also mentioned to have the budino but I guess next time!

Pleasantly surprised by this place! It's a seat-yourself counter inside Eataly near Madison Square park with set pasta + sauce combos and a rotating monthly pasta! We got the tagliatelle and bigoli. Wouldn't get the tagliatelle again because it was too thin for my liking, broke apart while eating and was too soft, no chew. Bolognese was just meh too. BUT THE BIGOLI omg it was SO good. A little spicy, a little creamy, and SO flavorful. Clams are chopped and incorporated into pasta already, no shells involved. I am def going back for the bigoli

If you want to impress your out of towners, a trip to Eataly is an easy ticket to do so. And, if you are fortunate to grab a seat at the counter at il Pastaio, you and your friend will be invited to a carb induced heaven. I was feeling cacio e pepe on my most recent trip, especially knowing it would be made properly and not with any unnecessary ingredients. Fresh pasta, properly executed... you'll be seeing stars. The price point, for a quick counter setting is a bit higher than you'd expect, but at least you won't be sitting there for hours racking up a higher bill. It's really just a good spot to grab a quick, delicious bite, washed down with a nice glass of wine. You'll have to save your aspirations for dolce fa niente at another spot (perhaps La Birreria is you can grab a rez)

We came here on a Friday night and grabbed the last two seats by the bar (it gets busy!) We ordered two pasta and a glass of wine but according to other reviews they supposed to give out bread and olive oil? We never got that. The pasta took a long time to prepare and not the best pasta I've had.. seems to be overpriced for the portion as well. There wasn't any service provided throughout our dinner, staff just chatting with each other or on their phone. Bar table wasn't cleaned as i saw a couple beef crumbs that's left from previous customers. The vibe is 4 star- unique and best for tourists and friends catching up. Not sure I would come back for the food, maybe for the grocery in the store.

Came here for a quick lunch while in NYC for a girls trip. We were sold when we saw them hand shaping the pasta right in front of the seating area/bar. My friends and I each ordered something different so we could try multiple things. We had the Con Tortufu Triangoli, Con Ragu Di Salsiccia, and Agnolotti Del Plin. All were delicious and the perfect serving size. Definitely recommend!

So we came here ( downstairs ) because the rooftop did not open on the time even though we had a reservation because they supposing were changing from fall to winter . That day was October 31st. Yes I know what you are thinking.... plus no one called me to inform me of the reservation cancellation... I know I know what you are think So to calm down ... we found this place not far from the rooftop entrance. Casual - bored with bar stool seating Immediately I could tell that this place was gonna be awesome Staff was super awesome Wine was excellent Watching staff make homemade pasta in front of our eyes was cool! We opted to try to appetizers since we thought we were gonna eat upstairs . Very good! I wished we stayed here .... honestly since the rooftop was disappointing except for the decorations I will be back to try the pasta and have more yummy wine here

    Bon Apetito!

This place is definitely open, not sure why it says it's closed. I came here for an early dinner one evening for a date. Place was super packed so most of the restaurants and counters were full. We picked this one because it looked cute, had a pair of open seats on the bar table. Honestly, you could toss a rock and where ever it lands will be a good pick. Were greeted right away with fast and friendly service. Ordered a bottle of red wine, carbernet franc, and honestly, the price was decent for both quality and the fact that it's in a restaurant. It wasn't too terribly marked up. All regions of Italy are represented here. Got the Porri E Pistacchi to start. Fantastic. Goat cheese balanced out the leeks. The pistachios were a nice added crunch and nutty flavor. Date and I had the Cacio e Pepe. Delizioso! Romano and pecorino cheese blends a nice salty and creamy flavor to the perfectly cooked pasta. Also got the tagliatelle. Beef was tender and aged well. The prosciutto added a nice saltiness to complement the beef's juiciness. They accidentally brought us out the trenette, which we didn't order. I ate it anyways, and they caught their mistake and decided not to charge us for it. That's grade A service. It was also pretty good, although I'd say it was my least favorite of the bunch, even though I loved them all! I'm not a big pesto fan, as I found it overwhelming my palate. Also there was too much of it, making the texture feel like I was eating a basil smoothie. Overall, spent $135 before tip, so not bad for a big dinner for 2. I was completely satisfied and the experience was amazing. Check out my review on Eataly as well!

tonnarelli cacio e pepe ($21) and agnolotti del plin ($28)
    Carly L.

Slightly pricey for the portion sizes, but a popular and delicious spot! It'll definitely be a wait to get a seat on the weekends, but we came for dinner on a Tuesday and there was plenty of space. We started with the tigelle ($9), two small prosciutto and cheese sandwiches. The tonnarelli cacio e pepe ($21) was super flavorful. The agnolotti del plin ($28) came with an amazing sauce. Of course, the pasta was perfectly textured and chewy. For drinks, the il mulo dal sud ($16) was strong and refreshing. The only downside was that we were still hungry at the end, but we still had an enjoyable meal here!

Was also thoughtful in handing us our orders correctly which was nice. For the food itself I heard good things and was hoping to love it more-- but I think I was slightly disappointed. The flavors aren't so bad overall and if you have a pasta itch it'll scratch. But I've tried other places better at a similar or even cheaper price point with protein added in. I got the "some like it hot" while my friend got "midnight desire" with burrata added in. I paid about 22 for each dish. Now for my thoughts - flavor for "some like it hot" was not bad, sauce was a slight bit watery for my liking. The spice was nice and I liked that part the most. Pasta was "OK". The ravioli was stuck together for some, filling was adequate but, I would've liked a little more. I don't want to sound harsh, but it was all around just an ok spot. Maybe it was just that day. Burrata added is nice, I took mine to go do sadly it was melted on top (recommend to pack the burrata separately for to go orders) - "midnight desire" is basically vodka and the flavor for this one was kind of odd for me. Not the normal vodka I am used to. I personally wouldn't really get it again. It wasn't a bad sauce, just not like vodka I know. Had a slight "bitter(?)" aftertaste from some seasoning I guess. I'm not a pasta connoisseur but I AM Italian and I've tasted a wide ranger of pastas lol-- I think yummy cheese pasta in Hell's Kitchen offers a similar concept, portion but is more filling, diverse options for adding and overall, slightly cheaper. Perhaps I'll give this place another try on another day..

I watched 3 separate groups of people leave while waiting for her, and she barely offered any updates on the wait time. After 15 minutes she asked us again how many people were in our group as if she had forgotten we were already waiting at the entrance. Once we were seated and looking at the menu, they brought us a single piece of cold bread. All the reviews about the undercooked pasta were true, I ordered the La Devozione (the tomato sauce spaghetti) and the pasta was almost crunchy because of how undercooked it was. The sauce was also incredibly greasy/oily, like the equivalent of an entire Costco pizza amount of neon orange oil. For $33, I am appalled at the quality of this dish. When our waiter brought the check, he hovered over our shoulders and watched as we entered the amount we tipped. He wasn't happy with what he saw and just rudely tossed the card back onto the table at us. For a place that advertises itself as high quality Italian, it's actually just sickening.
