What also shocked me was that at the entrance of the door, you can clearly see a butcher in the kitchen slicing fresh prosciutto and pomodoro ham! Holy. Again, I've tried their entire pizza menu, so my review can only attest to how good their pizzas are. Keep in mind, this is Neapolitan-style pizza. My first couple of pies from them were not knocking my socks off my feet, so I am extremely glad I tried more to fully opine here. They have an extensive pizza menu, but I found that the classic and simple pizzas were the best. Most of their pies are good, but their best pies were the Funghi & Porchetta, Prosciutto & Rucola, Diavola, or a classic Margherita. A lot of their other pies were okay. It was the overwhelming amount of toppings and ingredients. At times, I forgot I was eating a pizza and mistakenly thought I was eating a sandwich. Overall, this is a solid joint for delicious Neapolitan-style pizza. Their dine-in option is amazing, too. The atmosphere and decor are very romantic. This is perfect for a date night. I generally like Sicilian food a lot and have been to Norma a few times. Overall, I think it's a nice restaurant with a good selection of pizzas and pastas. I prefer the pastas over the pizzas, because I have found the pizzas to be a bit too soggy/wet and the exterior crust to be too prominent. The crust itself has a nice, light texture, but there's too much of it, and every version of pizza I've had here has been soggy in the middle. The pastas are better executed, in my opinion, and I especially like their pistachio pesto (although I don't necessarily think the pastas are worth $30/plate). The service has always been decent--nothing exceptional, but never bad. We walked up with no reservations, and the host was incredibly attentive, making sure we were seated in a good spot since we were dining with our 7-month-old daughter. We then shared the Busiate al Pesto Trapanese and the Lasagna Palermitana. The lasagna was great, but the Busiate al Pesto Trapanese was the standout. Unexpectedly, hands down my favorite meal of our NYC trip. Norma is warm, cozy, and the kind of neighborhood spot that feels like a local secret. The ambiance felt elevated without trying too hard. We had about a 40-minute wait, but Juan at the bar completely took care of us, guiding us to a sensational wine, which made the wait feel like part of the experience. Once seated, Ulysses, who was an absolute gem, was attentive and his recommendations were spot on from start to finish. We started with the Rucola e Parmigiano - peppery arugula, sweet pear, and caramelized walnuts. Simple, balanced, and exactly what you want to kick things off. Then the Polpette di Vitello arrived. Veal meatballs smothered in melted mozzarella which made for a show-stopping cheese pull. Comfort food perfection. For pizza, we went with the Mortadella white pie with pistachio and arugula pesto. Nutty, savory, fresh, and indulgent in all the right ways. Every bite delivered. Norma is the kind of place you bookmark for future trips and enthusiastically recommend to friends. The waiter was friendly and efficient given that we were seated outside. he checked in on us periodically and at appropriate times. We didn't feel neglected at all. We had the brushcetta classica - was ok. The tomatoes were fresh and tasted good. For our entrees we had the Lasagna Palermitana - OMG - this was soooo good. Norma is an anomaly in midtown: Not overpriced, yet the food is really high quality. Here you'll find great fresh regional ingredients treated with the utmost respect and served with pride. It's hard enough to find that in midtown, but to find it at fair prices around here makes Norma a standout. We've been here many times. Pastas are all great, including the simplest ones. Pizzas are all great. Baked pastas are creative and rich. Salads are good enough. It would be nice if they had some green vegetables on the menu but you won't find them here. We have been coming to Norma for a few years now, and while we did take a break in between, it was so refreshing to be welcomed back here as if no time had passed. Norma's has been consistent with their food, service and inviting outdoor patio. It's the perfect place to take our kids on a night when it's been too busy to make dinner, or when the kids want to make a weeknight "special" by going out but not too far from home. I love that the waiters always welcome us with such warmth and take care of the kids like their own. The spaghetti is our favorite, followed closely by the pizza. They also make a good espresso martini and old-fashioned. The kids love getting the bread at the beginning of the meal and finishing everything off with some gelato. read more

They don't take reservations, but we got lucky on a weeknight and walked right in for a table for two. I had the Busiate al pesto Trapanese, which was incredible with so much garlic and flavor. I have come here a lot, and usually it's great. However, today we ordered a pizza, it came out cold. The cheese wasn't melted. When we questioned the waiter, we were told they shave the cheese after, which would've been okay (however we have ordered this before and that wasn't the case) but the dough and the toppings also weren't hot. We waited 40 min for this to "cook" while I watched my pasta dish sit under the warming light for about 25 min. I am incredibly disappointed by the service and the food quality. The waiter did not come over once to check in on our table and see how we were doing, while routinely stopping at every other table and having full blown conversations. I hope this isn't what's to come in 2026. I will likely not be coming back if this is the new trend. We were basically ignored the entire time and had to ask someone else for the check. Not sure if this is or is not relevant but 2/3 of the people at our table were not white, all 3 of us gay. To reiterate the talk bald waiter would never do this. He has always been incredible but this experience was by far the worst I've had anywhere in quite some time. read more

The restaurant itself is charming, with cute decor that creates a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The bathrooms were clean, which I have found this weekend in NYC, is not something you should take for granted. Our server was very friendly. We shared a few dishes: the Gorgonzola salad, which was absolutely delicious and a standout; the Ragu rice ball, which was very good; and a pizza topped with prosciutto and Parmesan. The pizza had a thicker crust, which isn't our personal preference, but it was still tasty and well-prepared. For dessert, we shared the Tiramisu and, once again, Norma's hit it out of the park. The powdered cinnamon, on top of the Tiramisu, added a mouth-watering touch to this memorable final course.
