We made a reservation for 5 when it opened, got there early, and by the time they let us in at 5:05, there were dozens of people, and the place was quickly packed! Tight space, dark lighting, but the food was phenomenal. We started with the house made focaccia, amazing, and we would have had more if it was free. We started with beets, carrots, mushrooms with an over easy egg on top, and everything was delicious! Like every bite! Our pastas were tortellini, bucatini, and pici cacio e pepe. Again all amazing, different flavors, fresh housemade pasta, so good! We also tried the hanger steak and roasted chicken. The steak sadly was cold, bummer, makes a big difference, but the crispy potatoes were excellent. The star of the night was the chicken, TO DIE FOR! We cleaned that plate! You have to get the chicken! Overall loved our experience!

Cane for brunch and had a great experience. Pastas were soo delish! Cocktails were good too. The olive oil cake was soooo good. Great Italian spot and seemingly decently easy to get a reservation in a time where there are soo many hyped up Italian spots with no available reservations. Would like to go back for dinner, too!

Had a great experience at L'Artusi for brunch. Service was very quick, we were in and out (with reservation) in less than an hour. Servers were attentive and our glasses were never empty! Pasta was delicious - The cacio e pepe pasta noodles were thick and al dente. Carbonara was creamy with the egg yolk. Will definitely be back!

Have been wanting to try Lartusi for so long and finally made it for dinner. Restaurant is super busy it opened at 5pm for dinner service and the entire place was full. Service was great and we were seated promptly. I had the clementine cocktail which was lovely. We ordered the hamachi crudo which I do not recommend it came with a very harsh horseradish aioli (???) which really through us off. Fish quality was fine. Rigatoni and hanger steak were good.

I had been wanting to try L'Artusi for so long, and, sadly, I was greatly underwhelmed. For starters, I dined in with a group of 6, and it seemed as though we were squeezed into a 4 top. There was hardly room to eat comfortably. When the drinks came out, the server spilled part of a cocktail on my back and on my purse, and didn't really apologize, but just handed me a napkin. I would never make a scene in that situation, but an apology would have been appreciated. The food overall was good, and the 6 of us were able to share a mixed assortment of pastas, but nothing really impressed me. The main highlight of L'Artusi was is that they make excellent gluten free pasta. My close friend has celiac disease, and she confirmed that the gluten free pasta was better than most!

Holyyyyy cow. We heard good things about this place, but we didn't fully expect it to be so great! We don't have enough good things to say about L'Artusi, the staff, and the food! Our waiter, AJ, was an ANGEL from heaven who deserves the world and absolutely took the best care of us. The space is gorgeous, and we can totally see how it would be a perfect romantic vibe or a fun lunch out with your girls (what we did!) And the food? Oooooof! The food was phenomenal! I got the mushroom ragu, which was to DIE for. And the desserts? So good! Blew our minds! We cannot recommend enough running here to grab a meal (or several)!

Solid 4 stars. Been on my list to try for a long time and finally made it. My fellow Yelpers are spot on, the quality of the food, attentive service and great bar are what make this restaurant standout. Started with the crudo of hamachi with fava beans and spring in your mouth is what you get. Next was the little gem salad and also excellent. Our main was the rabbit ragu pasta and perfect it was. All washed down with excellent glasses of wine. Only downside was sitting at the bar facing the desert prep station not much action but overall I will recommend and return.

We came for the pasta and it was delicious! We were impressed by the food but floored by the amazing customer service. Ambiance is a little dark and romantic (bright enough to read menus easily), and it can get a little noisy depending on how loud your neighbors are. Coat check is also available. Let's get to the food: - focaccia (2/5): kind of dry, surprised how mediocre this was compared to the rest of the meal. Would not order. - hamachi crudo (4/5): not something we'd usually order but pleasantly surprised with how refreshing and tasty it was! The apple added a nice little surprise, and the horseradish wasn't overwhelmingly strong. - Perciatelli Nero (crab pasta) (5/5): plenty of crab, nice al dente pasta, and a little kick from the chilis without being actually spicy. Tons of flavor in the sauce despite the simplicity. The black color of the pasta somehow made it taste better-- so good! - Rigatoni (4/5): - cacio de Pepe (4/5): simple and delicious - brussel sprouts: More on the charred side without much brightness, definitely not healthy but still tasty :) - broccoli rabe (3/5): a little biased because I'm not the biggest fan of rabe to start, and this one was quite bitter... but broccoli rabe fans might enjoy this one! Had a nice texture without being too crunch or soft. (The rest of the review is about customer service. TLDR: amazing, so feel free to skip it!). The service manager was phenomenal and made our visit really memorable. The hostess in-training accidentally gave our reservation away somehow but the service manager definitely made up for it! He had us wait at the bar and sent out the crudo and focaccia on the house (+ champagne! I asked if he could surprise another diner with it though since I don't drink, haha). We were happy to try the appetizers we probably wouldn't have otherwise ordered, and he was super nice and returned multiple times to update us on the status of our table. We migrated to a table once it was available and enjoyed the rest of our meal there. At some point, we flagged down a waiter since we thought they accidentally gave us someone else's pasta dish, but that ended up also being on the house! The manager also checked on us a few times at the table too. Dang, customer service done right; we were definitely spoiled. That said, our waiter wasn't the warmest to us-- no introductions, not much besides bringing plates and clearing them. He was friendly and very chatty with the table next to us though. Not sure if this was because we opted to order while we were at the bar ahead of time with the manager. Regardless, we had an excellent time! When we were picking up our coats up front afterwards, another hostess thanked us for being "so chill" about them messing up our reservation. Honestly we weren't too ruffled about it from the start since we didn't have plans afterwards. They must deal with angry, unpleasant patrons often... it was a nice reminder to stay pleasant for those trying their best to provide us a nice night out. Would recommend nabbing a reservation when you can for some tasty pasta!

Buzzy Italian restaurants with excellent food and drinks are a dime a dozen in New York, it's true. Despite the seeming ubiquity of these types of places, L'Artusi still manages to feel special and is worth a stop for sure, though I don't feel like I've tried quite enough of their menu to get a handle on how it might or might not stand out in that regard. Even almost 20 years in, the restaurant is still vibey, with a spacious interior, well-placed lighting, and different seating options including a chill bar area. Food and drinks rundown: Roasted Mushrooms (pancetta, fried egg, chilies, ricotta salata): This spicy, salty, tangy, umami bomb really grew on me! At first I thought it was a little underwhelming, but by the end of the dish, I easily could've ordered another. It seems like a common criticism is that this is too salty-- and it is salty, but also balanced and overall really flavorful. Spaghetti (garlic, chilies, parmigiano)- our lone pasta dish, and I'd say that it stood out as the dish of the night for me. Really, it's a special pasta. I think I read somewhere that this is made with Parmesan stock. That makes sense, because the cheesiness is subtle but kind of permeates the pasta. It was addictive. I also appreciated the little crunchy bits and the al dente pasta. Roasted chicken (hen of the woods, scallion): Very tender chicken with a rich umami mushroomy sauce. Good choice if you want to do a secondi. Olive oil cake (golden raisin marmellata, madeira, crème fraîche mousse): Delicious and moist cake. The mousse is so thick and dense that it almost looks like ice cream... in any case, it was really good. Personally, I didn't really need the raisin preserves-- just a preference. Generally, I think the drinks here are really good, though the espresso martini was the lone lowlight of the night for me. It tasted like the kind of espresso martini you could order anywhere because it doesn't actually include espresso. I was not into it. In contrast, the cocktail with clementine liqueur, which I don't remember the name of and cannot find anywhere online, was excellent. It's tart and spritzy and i wanted to keep drinking it.

Snagged a lunch last minute reservation here on a Friday. The staff was very nice and helpful. Every single dish we had was amazing. For apps we got the tuna tartare, the roasted beets, and the focaccia bread and omg all were delicious!! The focaccia had rosemary and garlic and came with an oil with chilis. For mains we shared the perciatelli nero and the pici cacio e pepe. The pasta dishes were super flavorful and al dente. They did not skimp on the crab in the squid ink pasta! The restaurant is a lively atmosphere with a casual vibe.

This place is actually so much bigger on the inside than I thought it would be! Lots of seating. I wouldn't say they have the most welcoming staff, which I know can be a turn off for people while dining. However, I'm obsessed with the food here!! We started with the roasted mushrooms, which were so flavorful and had a little kick to it. Definitely a must order dish! Everyone in my party got a different main, and we all agreed that the pasta was cooked well and every dish was flavorful, so I don't think you can go wrong. We ended the night with espresso martinis and the olive oil cake. The boys at my table were skeptical about it being good because they don't like the taste of olive oil, but then ended up loving it.

3.5 stars. I dined for brunch with 2 girlfriends and the place was packed. Food was excellent, however, I expected the portions to be a lot bigger given the hefty prices. I ordered the Tagliatelle, served in a small pasta bowl. For $27, I thought it would be large enough to share but I was mistaken. We also each had a mimosa, which was $17 each. The Olive Oil Cake was tasty, and probably the only menu item worth its price point.

l'artusi for dins tonight! got the perciatelli nero, cacio e pepe, and gem salad. the fav of the night was the perciatelli nero bc it had crab and a solid kick from the calabrian chili. i also just love crab so this pasta had that immediate appeal. need to come back to try the olive oil cake we were too full to fit that in :') also really nice restaurant interior!

    Ask the Community - L'Artusi

How long is a typical dinner here? We plan to watch a Broadway show at 7pm, but I don't want to be "rushed" in a sense so I am favoring a later reservation after the show rather than a 5pm dinner. Any suggestions?

I think you got it right to reserve after the show and not to rush it before . It's about a 1.5sh hour of dinner but if the restaurant is full (most likely...) it might be longer service . Enjoy .

What are the must try dishes at L'Artusi?

Spaghetti, Tagliatelle, Roasted mushrooms and the Olive oil cake

Can I walk in without a reservation on a Friday night (tn)?

Last time I tried to do this at 7pm the wait was 3 hours so wouldn't recommend!

How do I make a reservation on resy? Nothing seems available even a month out?

Call the restaurant directly 30 days out. That's how I've always gotten in

    Is there outdoor dining?

    Yes

I'm on OpenTable through google, I am trying to set u a reservation for 2 on a Saturday and it seems there is NOTHING available. I got a bit past a month and it says it's too far out. Any recommendations on other methods for scheduling a reservation?

Sit at the bar...you may need to wait a bit if you don't arrive on the earlier side. We'll worth the wait. Mention Heather sent you!

Will you be open for dinner on Christmas Eve?

Yes, we will be open Christmas Eve.

    How are portion sizes here?

You need to Order one entree per person, as they are not huge but fairly sized. It's well worth it!

What are our chances on showing up when they open (or slightly before & waiting) and getting a table without a reservation? They are fully booked for reservations the night we want to go (Saturday night, 9th feb) but it looks so good!

I would definitely call day of about 3pm. They usually call to confirm reservations and sometimes people cancel. I've done this trick a few times.

Are the offerings here mostly 'small plates?'

We have a combination of smaller plates and heartier items all intended to be shared. You can comfortably make a meal of 2-3 dishes per person and the team will be happy to help you determine the right amount for your appetite. The smaller items… Read more

What is the minimum amount of people needed to reserve the private room? It's my mother's 70th birthday in October and I think this restaurant would be perfect for us and her friends.

It's a minimum amount of $ not people. And a maximum the room will hold. Call or email the event person.

We don't have a reservation and we have tickets to Hamilton at 7, but I really want to eat here! Do you think we can get seats at bar and make it to the show if we are there precisely when they open? And know exactly what we want to order.

YES, with the rate or service and taking the subway (it will take about 15-30 mins on the subway to get back to Hamilton)!

While I can't comment on the wine list personally, I know they are well-known for their extensive selection. After placing our order, we were delivered the sesame pizza bianca, which is a complimentary starter bread with dinner. The bread was a nice size and light and airy with a perfect crust and a delicious, crusty sesame seed bottom. The prawns were our starter and came three to a dish. They were sizable, though since they are served with the head and tail, there isn't a ton of meat on them. That said, they were flavorful and juicy with a nice sauce and just the right amount of spice that didn't overwhelm the fish. The snowdance chicken was the star of the show! It was incredibly juicy and tender with perfectly prepared skin, so I was happy to learn they keep this on the menu year-round. It was topped with some spinach that was solid, though nothing special. We also ordered a side of mushrooms which came with a creamy sauce and fish roe intended to be mixed at the table. The roe wasn't fishy at all but added a great element of umami to the flavorful, well-textured mushrooms. Overall, the service was very professional, though I thought the pacing could have been improved as the dishes came out a bit slowly. I would also recommend ordering at least two dishes per person, as the three plates we shared between two people felt like just a touch too little food. I'm already looking forward to going back--I'd try the winter chicories salad or the veal sweetbreads next time, but I'm open to exploring everything since the quality is so high. I noticed a side dish listed on their online menu that wasn't actually offered in person, so it might be worth double-checking if you have your heart set on a specific item.

Their house sesame bread was fluffy and chewy with a good amount of sesame flavor without having too many seeds. For mains, the farfelle was very interesting and tasty! The pasta was al dente and the sauce was addicting! At first I was wondering if it would resemble a nut butter, but it was creamy with very prominent walnut flavors and interesting texture (perhaps from the blended walnut skin component?). The addition of burrata and other cheeses was perfect for a cheese-lover like me. The pork chop was flavorful, well-seasoned, and juicy. The leek and cabbage mixture soaked up all the sauce and I wish there was more! Their special hot chocolate with an espresso martini marshmallow was fire!!!! Hot chocolate was decadent, not too thick, and not too sweet. The toasted marshmallow melted quickly but definitely had coffee and alcohol flavors. The amount per serving doesn't appear a lot but appropriate considering how rich it is. The mascarpone dessert had a great balance of fluffy cream, extremely crispy phyllo, and crunchy nuts with a touch of chocolate and vanilla! For drinks, I was really curious about the bi lemongrass but they ran out. Staff recommended the semiplume, which felt like a beer, tea, and sparkling wine all at once! Loved the floral aroma and bitter tea notes. My partner's cocktails were also well executed. Staff were nice and friendly. We got seats right by the kitchen so staff often checked in with us, including the chef!! Vibes were intimate with the dim lighting and minimalist decor. We got the Butterscotch flip, Getaway driver, and Big trouble. These drinks were not it. Although the prices are okay($19 each), they definitely need some improvement. All three had very strong flavors that were not balanced with the rest of the drink. After we finished our drinks, we waited an especially long time for the waitress to come back, check on us, and give us our bill. It was especially frustrating because we were the only ones in the bar at this point and we could hear them chatting downstairs. Overall, both service and the drinks need improvement. Can't really recommend Split Eights over other cocktail bars around.

Our cocktails were delicious, music was on point, service didn't feel rushed at all. I was feeling adventurous and asked for a boozy gin-based cocktail.. loved it! My friend really enjoyed her drink as well. At $19 per cocktail, it's not the cheapest in the area, but also not the priciest either. Would absolutely recommend Split Eights to anyone looking for craft cocktails in the area.

He is the best mixologist in NYC. He danced with lemon slices cutting through pours of clear liquids from heights. He tossed and shook, and was precise and caring. A true artist. David made our night. The only reason I would ever walk back into this place is to sit at the bar and let David mesmerize me. FOOD: Broccoli rabe was fresh, but I needed a steak knife to cut through it. It was very al dente. Not cut properly, which is to cut crosses in the stems. Salad was fresh and crisp, high quality fennel and greens. Lovely. Agnoletti was divine. Home made. Focaccia very good with subtle flavors and just the right crust. Olive oil, good. The front of house staff was lovely, two ladies, and a friendly guy. Super lovely. Treated us like friends. Also the busboys were all gentlemen. I loved them. They brushed crumbs off the table with panache. The only complaint is the waiter was robotic, and issued rule after rule. No smile. EX: It was a freezing night. We wanted to order appetizer's first, and have a chance to look at the menu. He couldn't do that. "I need the whole order." Then one of us wanted to order the pre fixe dinner. "You can't do that. You both have to order it." He was very cold, a robot. To enjoy ourselves, we had to push through the horrible treatment. Too bad for the waiter, when I asked about the special pasta, he butchered the pronunciation, giving me a soft pitch to teach him Italian. I blasted him. C'est la vie.

Started light with the Caesar salad -- crispy, chilled, and judging me silently for how fast I inhaled it. That cacio e pepe came out looking so good I almost stood up and clapped. Fresh truffles on top, giant block of cheese on the side... bro, it wasn't a dish -- it was a flex. I took one bite and immediately understood why Italians talk with their hands. Closed the night with the ricotta cheesecake -- soft, rich, and honestly one of the few things sweeter than me. Place has the vibe on lock. Decor? Classy. Environment? Smooth. Staff?
