We went to Borgo for my husband's birthday and had a wonderful evening. We were seated in a cozy corner booth right across from the kitchen, which we loved being able to watch the action. The service was impeccable from start to finish - attentive, warm, and genuinely thoughtful. The food was beautifully executed and truly delicious. Each dish felt carefully crafted, with bright flavors and a clear attention to detail. We started with the focaccia, which was surprisingly outstanding. As was the non-alcholic pear wine from Normandy! I can still taste that deliciousness just talking about it. We also enjoyed the olives and the buffalo mozzarella with smoked beets. The ravioli di zucca was flavorful, but the portion was very small for the price. The hen of the woods mushrooms weren't my favorite (likely a texture thing for me, my husband enjoyed them), and dessert felt like something we could have skipped. The only reason I took off a star was the pricing. While the food was good, the prices felt a bit steep for what we received, especially given the small portion sizes on some dishes. Overall, it was a lovely birthday dinner with excellent service and memorable food.

Seems like for several months in 2025 the folks at the New York branch of The Infatuation blog could not stop chattering about Borgo. So, one cold Friday evening in December 2025 I schlepped over to this unremarkable Rose Hill address to see what all the fuss was about. I was pleasantly surprised to be seated solo without a reservation in 15 minutes, and overall enjoyed the restaurant's experience. Think of Borgo as a hipper, younger, cozier sibling of Hudson Yards' Ci Siamo, and with better lighting. Service at both spots is excellent and both feature dishes from Northern and Central italy. When it comes to ambience, Borgo edges out Ci Siamo because the latter can sometimes feel as if one is dining in an airplane hanger. I just wish that some of the mains were less expensive. Nonetheless, I look forward to my next visit to Borgo!

Service, flavor, energy! What a beautiful place filled with beautiful people serving beautiful food. A solo dinner at the bar with a martini and hospitable bar tender made this lonely midwesterner feel right at home. Upon recommendation, I got the foccaccia which is like a cracker, but not crispy. Absolutely crazy. A light oil drizzle, some salt, and the smoke from the wood oven made this the perfect starter. The edges have great crisp while the middle is so chewy! The pasta was to die for. I got their veal pasta. The sauce was perfect. Not too thick, and the veal was bursting with flavor. Of course I had to get their house martini. Boozy! Cold! As all martinis should be. This place is jumping every night. For good reason, it is top tier and can hang with the best of em on all fronts: bar program, flavor, vibes, and hospitality

Borgo - NoMad, NYC 124 E 27th St, New York, NY 10016 Walked into Borgo feeling hungry. Walked out feeling like I should own linen shirts and argue about olive oil. Started strong with the Salumi -- gnocco fritto, mostarda, basil. That flatbread they drop on the table? Dangerous. Zero self-control. Bread didn't stand a chance. Then came the Mezze Maniche with veal polpettine and spigarello. Let me be clear: this pasta had confidence. Rich, balanced, and cooked like it knew it was the main character. Absolutely incredible. Finished with dessert -- apricot, almonds, crème fraîche. Light, clean, and just fancy enough to make you say "wow" without pretending you understand desserts. Vibe? Rustic but refined. Wood fire. Courtyard energy. Martini cart rolling around like it owns the place. Natural wines flowing. Service? On point. Calm. Professional. No attitude. Overall: Borgo doesn't try hard -- it doesn't need to. If you need a reservation... good luck. Or ask me.

We came with my family who was visiting from out of town for dinner one evening, and we had a great experience. The food is easy to share. The portions are a little on the small side, so make sure to order extra. We would definitely come back!

I don't fully understand the hype here or why it's so hard to get a table. The food was fine but I have definitely had much better. Note that everyone seems to rave about their focaccia, but unfortunately that's not available for lunch so if you want to try it, you have to go for dinner. We went for lunch and were bummed. As for other food, the only dish that stood out to me was the fettuccine with guinea hen ragu, which was pretty good. The Casarecce with red shrimp had hardly any shrimp at all and the pasta was undercooked in my opinion. For apps, we started with the fava purée and the stracciatella, which were pretty good but again nothing to write home about. The drinks weren't great either. I got the spritz which I really didn't enjoy - had a weird aloe flavor to it. I could hardly drink it. The espresso martini was decent though. In terms of ambiance, it was fine. We sat in a table in the back, which was quiet enough which I appreciated. There also appears to be an outdoor garden in the back where you can sit but it wasn't set up when we went. I don't recommend sitting at the bar - the bar stools were incredibly uncomfortable. Over all, there are a few decent dishes if you're in the area but not worth a trek.

Had dinner at Borgo and while the food was good, it didn't quite live up to the hype. All the starters were strong--the focaccia was delicious and the marinated mackerel had a nice tang. The house-made fettuccine was perfectly al dente, and the branzino was nicely cooked. The strudel, however, was just okay. That said, we had an 8pm reservation and weren't seated until 8:30. The host stand is awkwardly placed in the crowded bar area, which made waiting uncomfortable. Overall, a decent meal, but between the delay and the chaotic check-in, it didn't feel worth the buzz it seems to get.

Really great pasta. The ravioli di zucca was phenomenal - a flavorful squash filling, and a creative sauce with toasted almonds and a sage butter sauce. After mentioning we were vegetarian, we were offered the pasta e fagioli, which was off menu. This had a rich sauce on top of the pasta with white beans. Finally, the sticky toffee pudding was a nice way to finish - not too sweet and with plenty of toasty caramel notes. It was a bit expensive for $51.50 per person after tax and tip, but otherwise very well executed.

Borgo is a bit of Brooklyn in Manhattan. Took me awhile cause I wanted to sit at the bar and their hard stools coupled with outerwear left me unmotivated. Finally, I went. The service here is super nice & fun. Sat at the bar and their stools room is so convivial. I ate here a bunch when it was I triulli as it's near my office. Are: Escarole salad Heirloom beans Total: $48 I would walk over coals for the beans served with an entire macerated onion. The beans are $$. I like the escarole with fennel & a particular cheese, and it paired well with the beans. I got to try the Borgo focaccia, yum and they will give you She Wolf bread upon request. There's a lot to love here and more to try, maybe next time at lunch.

    Fettuccine
    Secil A.

The focaccia and crostini were very good but the rest wasn't. They don't have a good wine selection by the glass. The ravioli came in cold and dry, and the fettuccine was nothing special. The service was alright. I like the ambience which was romantic and the tables were well spaced out. Their menu changes a lot so I think there is high variability in the quality of food.

I was late to dinner because some jackass decided to jump onto the F Train tracks at York Street and the NYPD were useless in getting him off of said tracks. The only reason I'm telling you this is to set the scene, which was mostly me walking in ravenous and in dire need of a cocktail. And I am glad to report: Borgo is a really fantastic place to be when you're hungry and want some sort of delicious boozy concoction and tons of fire-roasted Italian fare to wash the taste of a serious subway delay out of your mouth. And I have yet to experience it, but I would wager that Borgo is a fantastic place to be for dinner on a regular, non-delayed evening as well. I first want to note that the space is sexy as hell. And I can't even remember the last time I wrote the word "sexy." The staff is excellent (it helped that the owner was in the house I'm sure), and the candlestick holders are shockingly heavy (everyone knows that's the mark of a great restaurant). With a woodfire burning between the two rooms and a surprising amount of space between the tables, it feels luxurious to dine like this in Manhattan. Our server was aware of why we were late (they sat one person in our party who informed them and showed them photos of the guy holding up the train), and knew we needed cocktails. I tried the La Scarza (a refreshingly tart tequila concoction) and the Nonna's Nonno (their self-identified version of an Old Fashioned with a scotch/brown butter/sour cherry agrodolce twist). Banging. I also drank half my wife's classic martini, because it was that kind of night. Our party of four decided to split everything (the only way to dine, in my opinion), and we rolled with: The Focaccia Borgo - I try to always eat things named after the restaurant, especially when it's delicious bread that can be topped with mortadella. It was the first thing I ate, and vied for the best bite of the night. It's far thinner than you think, almost a flatbread, but it's outstanding. The fried artichokes - Well-fried and very tasty, but the gribiche they are served with stole the show. The Fried Delicata Squash - Chili and honey are a favorite combo, but it was a tad sweet for my taste. You can't be sad about eating this, however. One of my friends said it was like dessert, but in a good way. Anelloni - Lobster pasta is always a decadent decision, but I truly loved this sauce. I honestly don't know that I could choose between it and the Fettuccine - The guinea hen ragu is so, so rich and delicious. They know to pair pasta and sauce here. Whole roasted branzino - It's hard to roast a fish better than this. This was my first time out to dinner with these friends, so I didn't pick up the head and gnaw on it for every last morsel, but I wanted to, and that's what counts. The smoked chickpeas underneath were a nice touch as well. Fennel Sausage - A thick, juicy, perfectly cooked and seasoned sausage over a bed of lentils and some kind of cabbage situation that blew me away. Stellar. Everyone was full by this point, and I got to eat more than my share. I've always said I'm a lucky man. Truly, there wasn't one miss out of everything we ordered. The plates were beautiful, and I apologize that the sexy lighting kept the photos from being what they should be. I'm not a ring light guy, because I don't want my fellow diners to hate me. I've been a fan of Andrew Tarlow restaurants since I was a wee lad who first bit into Diner's burger (back in 2009). They are reliably warm, hospitable, and most importantly, delicious, and Borgo is no exception. The cost here veers into special occasion territory, but I thought dinner was worth the price of admission, and I'd gladly come back. Especially for that focaccia.

borgo is probably my favorite italian restaurant in all of nyc - considered it a hidden gem prior to it getting a very well-deserved spot on the nyt list (though my heart broke a little) the ambiance is just unmatched - spacious, homey, and beguiling. the rotating risottos are truly phenomenal. other highlights include the chicken liver mousse but you really cannot go wrong with their pastas.

    Sachertorte with Satsuma Sorbet

I managed to get a reservation at Borgo, which was one of the hardest spots to get into. This spot opened back in October and their menu changes every month. We started off with red wine and ordered a bunch of appetizers: Focaccia Borgo, Chicken Liver Crostini and Fried Delicata Squash. Each of these dishes were amazing. We shared the Wood Oven Chicken. The menu stated a half chicken but the portion was definitely less than that. Personally this dish was not memorable in a good way. To end the night I wanted to try the Sachertorte. The dish had a hint of apricot in the cake, but it was on the dry side and it had to be mixed with the Satsuma sorbet. I took the cake home but ate the sorbet. I was too full to finish the sorbet. Service was overall great. The manager was proactive in making us feel welcomed. This is a great place for a date night. I'd definitely return to try the branzino and even dine in their outdoor garden.

It's a small area with the tables pretty close together. We were given a table in the far corner, which was perfect for comfort and looking out at the restaurant. Two of us each ordered a glass of house wine, which were "ok." We opted for the Boqueria Experience, which is $65 per person and includes a variety of chef-selected tapas, a paella and an order of the restaurant's special JAMÓN IBÉRICO DE BELLOTA, which is described on the charcuterie menu as aged 48 months, with deep marbling, rich and nutty flavor. We enjoyed most of the tapas, including the potatoes, the beef/lamb balls, the salad and bruschetta. The croquettes were "ok" with the heavy aeoli masking some of the flavor. The seafood paella was good and was different from ones I've had in the past, with the caramelized layer on the bottom. Yum. Honestly, none of us was a big fan of the Jamon Iberico de Bellota. I'm sure it's special and luxurious, but we found it not to have much flavor. Frankly, it was a big disappointment for us. The service was beyond excellent. We were very pleased with the timing of the presentation of the meal, the superb water service and the general enthusiasm and pleasantness of the Staff. We will come back and try different items on the ala carte menu. I thought there would be more seafood and meat tapas offerings in the "Experience". Instead, it was a lot of cheese, vegetables, dates and bread. Although $65 per person likely was a good value for what we got, I think the tapas items were heavy on the lower cost tapas and that it wasn't a true top-of-the-line "Experience". A seafood dish or even a chicken dish (chicken wings) instead of one of the two croquette offerings would have helped.

Awesome selection of menu, and drink best with a group gathering. Absolutely great vibe and easy-going, fun atmosphere. I found the hodgepodge of old-timey decor to be a bit kitsch, but to each their own. I came with a group on a weeknight with no reservation. We were seated immediately on a high wood table. Although the bar wasn't busy (there were plenty of empty spaces, small groups scattered throughout the area), the service was quite slow. The server was inattentive and took a while to take our orders. We had to ask her for water three times, searching for her across the room in an attempt to catch her attention. She was a bit absent during the two-ish hours we were there. On the bright side, the drinks were fairly good. I ordered this strawberry vodka cocktail topped with whole mint. I'm wary of vodka for its harsh, unpleasant taste, but I found this drink to actually be very pleasant, tasing like a fruit smoothie you'd get from a local juicer. There was also a burgundy drink served on a wine glass that tasted like the holidays. I liked that one quite a bit. Overall, Oscar Wilde was an okay experience. It's certainly a bar for a certain type of crowd, and the service was lacking, but maybe we went on a bad night. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll be served better than we were.
