Tacos de rib eye and Tacos de carnitas

Tortillas smelled fresh and were warm too but the meat was dry for both the skirt steak and pork carnitas. The flavors were there, just dry. The waitress and waiters were nice but the hostess didn't even bother to say hi to us or goodbye to us. Walked away when we came up to the podium and then didn't lift her head up when we walked out nor say goodbye back when I said goodbye. Rude?

Let me start by saying this restaurant is beautiful. I walked in (was not greeted by the host) and asked him if I could sit at the bar and was told I could. I proceeded and while my server (the bartender) was lovely and nice, he seemed to be very busy with other tasks, keep in my mind it was only 4:15 and there was only 2 tables sat in the entire restaurant. When I asked for my check I had to wait at least 10 extra mins as there seemed to be a dinner meeting of the staff in the middle of the dining area (going over dinner courses, etc) that then cumulated with them trying said courses while I waited for my check. My food was ok, slightly bland and the chicken was dry. The portion was small and I didn't even finish. I didn't want to stick around for a second $18 margarita (better HH prices literally around the block). When exiting I was not thanked by the same host as well as a waitress standing there, although I thanked them and I said goodbye. I will not be returning.

Casa Carmen is a beautiful restaurant with splendid service. Someone came to our table countless times just to refill our water. I also thought the food presentation was great, and I enjoyed the affordable 3 course prix-fixe $30 menu. However, I simply couldn't get over how bland the food was. Everything we ordered was missing flavor. I left disappointed because I truly love Mexican cuisine.

Tasty, but a bit expensive. I split the quesadilla trio, chiles rellenos, and veggie enchiladas verdes with a friend. The tortillas on the quesadillas tasted fresh. The three had different fillings - my favorite was the slightly crunchy and aromatic poblano. The enchiladas were very tasty due to the bright and herbal salsa verde over top. These came with a side of flavorful black beans. The chiles rellenos were also nice, but the salsa roja felt a bit standard. This came with seasoned rice and the same beans as the enchiladas. The bill came to around $100 for two, which felt a bit steep, but the flavors were nice. The decor is also beautiful, particularly towards the back of the restaurant.

It was nice to be seated right away for a quick bite. The atmosphere is nice and the staff are very attentive. The guacamole was wonderful and the tacos were pretty good too. Love the salsa verde it's served with!

I felt like I was in Austin, or perhaps Monterrey! Such a great vibe and didn't expect this in NYC. We were so excited and the food was really good! Pauncho, Haurache bunuelos (dessert) were so good! Will def come back!

Service excellent. Guac, ribeye tacos and ceviche superb. The wine, a chardonnay from Mexico was disappointing. I should have ordered a more expensive Napa option. Over all very good addition to the Flatiron area which has become a go to food destination.

such a great place for brunch! a group of us came on a saturday morning. the service was quick and friendly, and the vibe is fun. easy to chat as it wasn't a very loud place. we got the café de olla which was their house coffee - sweet and cinnamon-y. the elote pancakes are an absolute must (our fave) , as are the churros. for mains, we enjoyed the enfrijoladas, the enchiladas and the benedict. fair warning the benedict was a smaller portion but everything else was a decent size. very solid choice for good mexican food in the area.

Loved celebrating my dad's birthday at casa carmen. We had prior reservations and were seated immediately. Loved the attentive service and the wonderful ambience - beautiful decor, and especially loved the skylight and tall ceilings. The food was great - and I particularly enjoyed the espresso cocktail and the appetizers. 10/10 experience! Thank you to our servers for a wonderful evening!

What can I say... The food was bomb and the decor was even better. No really, this place was so pretty to look at. The drinks were also great and service was top tier (shout out Ronnie). Only thing was I didn't enjoy my pollo en mole verde as much as my homegirls enjoyed the octopus bowl and the chicken enchiladas. I took my food home to spice it up likkle bit and it turned out fine so alls well that ends well because everything else was tasty af!

Came here on a Sunday night and was a lovely experience. Easy to get a reservation and it was not packed at all. The inside is beautifully decorated and staff were super attentive and friendly. We started with the aguachile which was super refreshing, a perfect portion size to split with someone and came with chips on the side which paired really nicely. For our mains we split the rib eye tacos (comes with 2) which were absolutely delicious and the chicken enchiladas which were also great but could use a bit more seasoning. We also got the esquites which are an absolute must get! The sauce is not too heavy and the entire dish is super comforting. We ended with the churros (comes with 4) which are another absolute must get! The cajeta is incredible and the churros are perfectly crispy. Would absolutely come back!

I thought the food and service was excellent-we had an early reservation...5:00pm on a Thursday-the restaurant was very empty-and it seemed to not be filling up as we left so I hope it's not going to be closing-the food is that good. Anyway, we ordered the guac with the homemade large round tortillas to start. I really like this idea- they were sturdy and didn't break as we scooped our guacamole onto the rounds. We also shared the tostadas de cangrejo as another app, the Enmoladas Xico (chicken), and esquites trufados as a side. Portions are on the larger side so we didn't have room to finish the corn. Was all very flavorful. Really appreciate the special touch of having a stand for each of us to hand our bags from. Very thoughtful

Beautiful restaurant with authentic food in Flatiron. We opted to sit in the back with our reservation, although a smaller restaurant the food is definitely something to come back for. We had the cactus salad guac with chips, crab tostada, tuna tostada, aguachile, mushrooms and tacos. My favorite were the crab tostadas because of the consistency of the crispy tortilla that wouldn't break upon each bite and the crab was also exceptional. The food was made with great ingredients that didn't make you feel heavy or uncomfortable after. Very well prepared and executed! Just wish the restaurant had a bigger space to enjoy. I will definitely be back with friends for drinks and apps.

This STICKS OUT. It is French, it offers a sunlit outdoor patio and rests on New York cobblestone. Only the finest. We ordered their 30 dollar happy hour wine selection (their choice of white, rose or red). We went for rose as it was only approaching cocktail hour. Ended up spending $60, do your own math! As for food, this was where I had a blonde moment. The French wordings of cheese or meat was simply something I haven't even seen in France. So what to do? Tell our server we love rich goudas, goat cheeses and manchego's; but stray from any blue cheese family member or associate. He brought an array of an assortment! I do not recall the names of their cheese, two we liked one we did not appreciate. Not because I am a model, but because I believe in proportion sizings, especially when it comes to the delicacies within the cheese world I aspire to be apart of. NO MORE BREAD PLEASE, I begged as I calm and swiftly maneuvered the slices into my concerned and judged mouth. We also enjoyed the escargot, 10/10. Get the escargot and wine babes xxx

Stepping into this place feels like you're in some secret, super special cocktail club. Decor is super high end, vibes are upscale AF. The mint Moroccan tea gave the drink a cool, refreshing taste on every sip. I also tried the Silver Screen, the closest drink I could find to an old fashioned. It was interesting, there was definitely a hint of a buttery taste. Overall a really balanced bourbon drink. I walked in and found room at the standing tables. The bar seating was plentiful and comfortable. There is plenty of space for people to stand behind the bar or a high top tables enjoying happy hour after work. If you go at 4:30 or 5, it's a bit calmer as the after work crowd trickles in. And as the evening went on, it started to get more and more packed, and it became a really lively vibe. After my friend left for another function, I stuck around a little bit longer for a little solo dinner. I had a glass of Prosecco off the happy hour menu followed by a dirty martini, and I did request to look at their full dinner menu because there was a couple items that I wanted to try. I wanted to try the duck Ragu and halloumi cheese, both of which were absolutely fantastic. The halloumi cheese was perfectly grilled and flavorful, and the duck Ragu was very comforting. I highly recommend both dishes. I ended up chatting with a woman sitting next to me who happened to work with select apertivo, and next thing I know one of the bartenders handed me a lovely bright cocktail to try on the house. It was a refreshing bubbly Barlume spritz that I'll definitely have to get again next time. Overall, I had a really great time at Barlume. The service was excellent from the servers and the bartenders, and they were all very attentive, personable and friendly throughout the evening. Did you know this is where the Beecher's used to be?! RIP, I miss their Mac n cheese.... the vibe is completely different now (think extravagant Mediterranean vibes, it's very instagram-mable with the beautiful bar area). I had made a reservation for 5:30 (again, life with a baby is very different)- we arrived early but the staff were very gracious and were able to get us seated. They seated us in a side alcove area where they had cushioned seating, which was very helpful. What we Ordered: Drinks: Barlume Spritz and Hibiscus Mule (N/A cocktail)- drinks were good, nothing too special but we appreciated the cute stirrers Appetizer: Halloumi- grilled halloumi with roasted eggplant puree. The saltiness of the halloumi went so well with the creaminess of the eggplant. (Baby liked the eggplant puree too hah) Entrees: Lobster Arrabiatta and Duck Ragu and Truffle Pizza. My husband got the lobster arrabiatta and was raving about how delicious it was. He said it was the perfect level of spice. My duck ragu was served with busiate (a corkscrew shaped pasta) which I thought 'trapped' the sauce perfectly so you get a nice saucy bite each time. Pasta was perfectly al dente- my one gripe is that I felt the duck ragu was a bit too salty, which even managed to overpower the tomato flavor. We shared the truffle pizza, which came topped off with stracciatella, porcini mushrooms and shaved truffles. I liked the porcini mushrooms on the pizza, this was a first for me. For dessert (which we had to gobble down quickly because baby was starting to get fussy) we got the pistachio cake. SAVE SPACE IN YOUR STOMACH FOR THIS ONE!!! This was my favorite in the whole meal, the kataifi gives it that wonderful crumbliness and it went soooo well with the mango sorbet that's served with it. A few folks started with the "I Speak For The Trees" (Spring 44 Vodka, Cucumber, Mastiha) cocktail and in doing so tried mastiha for the first time. I, not surprisingly, had to try the martini, which is the Fantasy Is A Necessary Ingredient (Dill Vodka, Sardinian Vermouth, Olive Oil). Despite not being a vodka person, vodka in dirty martinis is the one exception I will make from time to time, especially when there is a fun infusion that elevates the drink. I was extremely happy that, after ordering it, our server asked if I wanted it with a regular olive or feta-stuffed olive, as if there is really any deliberation that needs to happen there (read: feta-stuffed olives are a no-brainer). For the rest of the night I just got dirty martinis or espresso martinis which are both particularly excellent here. My partner tried the La Osa Albarino (Val do Salnes, Rias Biaxas, Spain) with our entrees which I also enjoyed. Food-wise, we got to sample a decent portion of the menu being a party of four, though we didn't order any of the bigger entrees (mostly because we could not justify the price). Everything was great and the only reason this isn't five stars is just because I reserve that for experiences where things are mind-blowing/super memorable and as they say, it is called the Hall of Fame not the Hall of the Very Good. In any case, it's hard to pick out a favorite dish because we really enjoyed everything, but that is a good sign for the rest of the menu should you want to order something we didn't try. Everything was an A or A+ in this meal so I'll skip the letter grades for this review. Eats, below: Norwegian Yellowtail Tartare w/ Ezme, Borage, Sumac Light, delicate, relatively straightforward as far as tartares go but the ezme adds a nice touch that's a nod to the Mediterranean. Gem Lettuce Salad w/ Dill, Scallion, Cucumber, Sesame-Anchovy Vinaigrette Super fresh and delicious, perhaps a little Caesar-esque but with far more intrigue. Sugar Kiss Melon w/ Stracciatella Di Buffala, Spicy Coppa, 25 Year Balsamic We actually decided to nix this at the last second when we realized we may have ordered a bit too much food but our lovely server brought it anyway (she really made the night for us). This could even be a dessert-type dish if you'd like, but certainly works among the savory courses too. Charred Spanish Octopus w/ Potato, Mint, Aged Sherry The octopus was beautifully cooked and presented, seasoned well, no notes on that. The potatoes were decent but less exciting than the rest of the dish imo. Roasted Dorade w/ Tamarind Glaze, Pomegranate, Jalapeño, Herb Salad Absolutely loved this dish. According to our server, it's on the opposite end of the spectrum from the branzino, which is a cleaner, simpler preparation (and the whole fish), while this is a total flavor bomb. While I do love branzino, I'm glad we opted for this at less than half of the price. And I'm pretty sure the last time the four us went out for dinner we ordered a full fish and I'm pretty sure it was branzino so here's to shaking things up. Rocky Mountain Lamb Chops w/ Black Garlic, Ras El Hanout, Mint Chermoula Despite not usually being a red meat person I really loved these. Incredibly juicy and flavorful, making a strong case for being priced as high as they are. Honey Spiced Carrots Don't sleep on sides! Often an afterthought but they deserve a seat at the table, and these were good evidence of this.
