Ofrenda is a west village staple with solid Mexican food. Their Happy Hour deal has bumped them up to 5 stars in my eyes. They have outdoor seating and HH which includes food and drinks. For service, it was fine but not great. We had reserved an outdoor table but they had us sit inside for 10 minutes before moving us outside. They have a 1.5hr time limit on tables so you can feel a bit rushed, however despite all this I had an amazing time. Just mentioning here in case that matters to anyone. It's really hard to find a place with well balanced flavors and Ofrenda really does that well in their flavored margs. I had the cucumber and passionfruit. Very intimate spot with dark lighting and a fun ambiance, but not quite romantic. I got the jalapeño margarita, which was solid. I got an espresso martini afterward, which was excellent. The chips and guacamole were pretty good, but the portion was sorta small. I got the carme asada for my main which was cooked to a perfect medium rare. This spot may be better for dates or meeting up with a friend, but would not recommend for a group dinner at all. We had a reservation for 7:30pm on a Wednesday for a group of 7. It was packed! Which on one hand speaks to it's popularity that it was so busy mid-week. It was also very loud (music and voices) and very crowded with the tables squished quite close together. Our table was not ready as of the reservation time which happens, especially when it's busy, so we were told to wait by the entrance/hostess computer. After 35 minutes we were shown to a 4-top table and told to wait until the 2-top next to us was done, and then we could drag their table into ours (that's still one seat short for our party). I ordered the beet salad which was flavorful and fresh, but was disappointed when I asked if I could add a protein like chicken or shrimp and was told no . The food came out staggered by about 8:40pm - a full hour after our original reservation - and 2 of the dishes were so delayed in coming out that we actually thought maybe the order was missing (those two alambre taco plates did arrive another 10 minutes later). We did alert our server that at the beginning that we would like separate checks in case that affected how the order was placed into the system. It was not until the end of meal that she brought us one check and said there was no splitting. It possible this clause was on the website somewhere and we did not see it, but it was weird she wouldn't say that upfront when we ordered as well since it was asked. The "nachos" were really very strange- more like a tostada- there were probably like 3 tortilla chips total in this dish. The chicken quesadilla was moist but very under seasoned/spiced, saved only after drowning each bite in salsa. The space inside is warm and cozy, but definitely tight so better for smaller groups! Ofrenda is a very cozy place and the staff was very attentive. We started with margaritas and guacamole. The guac was very good and the chips were so fresh, we even asked for more they were so good! My friend and I split the alambre tacos and pulpo octopus. The octopus was a huge portion and came with two pieces so it was super easy to share. Staff tried to tell us that it was from the subway. Then another huge bug ran past us. Funny, when we were leaving, they offered us a shot of tequila. I visited with a couple friends on a Sunday evening. They were incredibly busy, and business seem harried and poorly managed, with staff rushing and not having enough hands for the volume of customers. The manager asked if I had a reservation, and I said I didn't. I asked for a table, and he said the soonest would be 6 PM (an hour later), so I said sure, 6 PM for 4 people. I asked if he needed a name and he said no. I waited at the bar until 6 PM to check in on our table. The bartender was friendly and competent but did not really have the luxury to engage with us besides to serve our drinks and take our payment. I double-checked with my friend, who confirmed that he paid separately for his one drink, but his beverage was still included on my bill, which I didn't scrutinize until I got back to my hotel. At 6 PM, I checked with the manager, and he said that there was some miscommunication and he didn't have a table for us. I had a hunch he didn't when he didn't notate it in their system or ask for my name or number. He then said that he would accommodate us anyway and assigned us a table and said that we could stay for only an hour. He made sure of that, rushing us for drink and food orders. I felt unwelcome. The food is overpriced and unappetizing but experience tells us not to drink excessively with an empty stomach, so we ate what we were given. The margaritas the bartender prepared for both me and my friend were incredibly tart to the point of them being undrinkable. Maybe a bad batch, a poor pour, or a new employee, but overall disappointing. I spent more than $100 and don't feel the value matched the price paid. It was perfectly spread throughout and made the dish more of a meal. I wished the chicken had had a bit more seasoning or flavor to it. It was very plain. The quesadilla was loaded with cheese, and it was perfectly melted and gooey. I loved the flavor and it wasn't over the top. The green salsa added a good amount of flavor but w didn't have as much of a punch as I would have liked. There was a little something missing overall with the spices and flavor. I would still recommend it though and would definitely get it again. Overall, this place to me would be a great stop for a happy hour. They have a good deal, great discounted small bites and margs. When we first arrived immediately we were told we had 90 minutes for the table which I have never experienced in a restaurant and I work as a server. Pretty off putting. To begin, ordered a Jalapeno Margarita ($13) and the Guacamole ($14). Drink had a nice kick, while not being as strong as I'd hoped. Guacamole is chunky and ready to eat with the tortilla chips. For the entree, got the Huevos Divorciados ($18) - a layering of tortilla shell, eggs, and avocado swimming in a mole/salsa combo. Good flavors overall, especially in the sauces - wish I added chorizo for some more substance. Also tried the Chilaquiles ($16) which weren't as well made.
